Opinions de Sushi Zo New York
Fantastic food and service. We arrived early with a reservation and they seated us immediately. We each ordered lasagna and were very satisfied with our meals. The bolognese lasagna was the favorite for us. The alcoholic coffee selection was fantastic, and reasonably priced. The only average part of our experience was the tiramisu, which was still good. Highly recommended.
I was looking for a special Italian restaurant in NYC for my boyfriend’s birthday and came across this spot. It looked aesthetically pleasing, had great reviews, and the food photos were so promising. When we arrived for our reservation, they sat us in the garden section—exactly what we hoped for. It felt like a candlelit, cozy, romantic dinner just for us. Our server, Michael, was incredible. He was warm, friendly, and made us feel like we were guests in his own home. He recommended the goat & peperoni Rossi bruschetta, which turned out to be delightful. But the stars of the night were the lasagna flights. We ordered both the vegetarian and the meat flights, and my boyfriend was so happy with his birthday dinner. Everything was flavorful and comforting, and we genuinely enjoyed the entire experience. The only small suggestion: please offer bread as an option on the menu. Michael was kind enough to bring us some, but it wasn’t listed. Overall, we had a wonderful night and would absolutely return. Perfect place for a romantic dinner!
Loved this place!! The atmosphere was so quaint and cozy. Dimly lit, but the lighting of the lanterns and spotlights made it look so romantic. The service was great super nice and attentive people. The drinks were tasty and the hot toddy hit the spot on a cold November evening. But the star of the night and the reason we decided to go there tonight was to sample the lasagna flights!! And they did not disappoint!!! We shared both the Vegetarian and the Carne flights and honestly all 8 samples were so tasty and so satisfying! The arriabatta is on the spicy end, the mushroom one and the pancetta were my favorites, followed closely by the pesto and the salsicca e raping. Overall a great night and very satisfying food.
I absolutely love the food and ambiance here. It’s a great spot for a date and I loved every bite of the food. Bf and I ordered two lasagna flights and all the them (8 different lasagnas) were delicious. The mulled wine was so flavorful and aromatic that I almost ordered another one. For dessert we tried their tiramisu and cannoli — they’re beyond expectation especially the tiramisu.
such a fun place to dine at! they had so much variety in each part of their menu! the lychee martini was perfect they had lasagna samplers - veg and non veg both - that you could rate as you tried them - perfect for those who like having more choices ✨ we had tiramisu and bread and butter pudding for dessert a little cramped but the huge lamps provided Alice in wonderland kind of atmosphere 🎀 Can’t wait to go back!
OH MY - is the best way to describe this whole experience!! The atmosphere was was so magical and cozy with a real fire going. Our waitstaff, Benjamin, was top notch - jokes with us, chatted with us, was concerned we may have over ordered, gave us wonderful recommendations, and gave us the most delightful after dinner drink. The food - my mouth is watering right now for the lasagna while I write this. I have never had a lasagna flight but I want more of them ! The pizza - chefs kiss. Taylor Swift is right - is good! The desserts if it was the ice cream flight or the tiramisu. This place will have a special place in my heart.
We happened to stumble upon this place while we were walking around and I’m so glad we did! We got sat in the covered patio area which was so cute. Our server, Gabriella, was very nice and attentive! A friend and I split the bruschetta and the carne lasagna flight-both were amazing! Probably some of the best food we had while in NY! Definitely will be back again!
Wow the vegetarian lasagna flight was amazing, it was the showstopper!!!!! Our favorite was the arrabiata lasagna, with pesto second, funghi third, and formaggi last. We got the goat cheese bruschetta, which was also delicious. We tried the chocolate cake, orange creamsicle, and banana split martinis. My friend really didn’t enjoy her banana split martini as it reminded her of the taste of medicine :( something to note, but I didn’t take points off because the food and ambience was so good. Service was great too, our waiter was personable and kind. The atmosphere was dark, candlelit, warm/family restaurant like. We enjoyed the restaurant a lot.
I was craving some vegetarian lasagna, and after a little searching this place kept coming up. I got the vegetarian lasagna flight, and it was delicious, especially the mushroom one. Even the spicy one was good even though I'm not partial to spicy food. The atmosphere is nice. Very intimate. A little warning, in case you have issues with low light, you might want to visit during the day. At night it's VERY dark, it's only lit by tea lights on the tables, but it has a skylight near the back.
There is a "secret" indoor garden area in the back that is greenhouse like. There are large lamps that give a magical feel to the area! We ordered the lasagna flight and the crème caramel con dulce de leche gelato. Both were incredible and i would absolutely order it again. Every lasagna dish we tried was delicious, even ones that I wouldn't normally order. There was also a large drink menu if you're interested in that.
I came here with my partner, and honestly, La Lanterna di Vittorio surprised us in the best way. We had heard good things, but the moment we stepped inside, we both looked at each other like, okay, this place is actually beautiful. The vibe is warm and a little romantic without trying too hard, dim lighting, soft natural noises of conversations, and that cozy Italian charm. But the real star for us was the Indoor Rear Garden. It feels like a hidden greenhouse in the middle of the city glass ceiling, plants and big decorative lanterns everywhere, and a soft glow that makes the whole space feel calm and special. Even though you’re inside, it has that open air feeling that makes you forget you’re even in Manhattan. It’s the kind of spot where you sit down and immediately feel like you’re about to have a good night and a good dinner. The food was genuinely delicious. Not just “good for the price”, actually delicious. We tried a few different things, and every dish had real flavor, not something thrown together. I recommend their lasagna flights, so good! You can tell they put effort into the ingredients and the way everything is cooked. For a place with this atmosphere, and the delicious food, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. It didn’t feel overpriced at all if anything, we were impressed at how moderate it was for the quality. And the dessert… easily one of the best parts of the night. Immaculate. It wasn’t overly sweet, just perfectly balanced and fresh. We literally sat there talking about how good it was while we ate it. Service was great too everyone was friendly, and authentic, the food came out on time, and we never felt rushed. It felt like they actually wanted us to enjoy our night instead of flipping tables, which you don’t always get in the city. Overall, we left talking about how much we loved this place and how we’re definitely coming back (if we can even find reservations for a Saturday lol). La Lanterna di Vittorio has that perfect mix of good food, a beautiful setting, and a relaxed vibe that makes the whole night feel special. If you want a cozy, comfortable, romantic spot with amazing food and a stunning indoor garden patio, this is definitely the place.
This place is amazing - their calling card is lasagna, and the menu features about 12 different ones. I’m sure all of them are amazing, but the one pictured is the Arrabbiata. It’s somewhat spicy but incredibly balanced, dense, and flavorful. They also have a great drink menu that pairs well with the food. The service staff is incredible, attentive, and knowledgeable, and made for a perfect late night dining experience. The atmosphere is also fantastic, with a rear outdoor dining space as well as indoor. Just fantastic!
We stumbled upon La Laterna di Vittorio before our brunch show at Blue Note. The storefront had a warm and welcoming feel, and once inside from the cold, there were kind staff members waiting to seat us. We sat by the window at a quient corner table and enjoyed perfectly crafted spiked coffee and hibiscus tea. Both were very aromatic and quite delicious. While conversing and sipping we people watched out the window and watched other trickle in from the cold to enjoy warm drinks, savory pastas, and sweet treats. Time seemed to stop for the 40 minutes we were able to marinate there. I cannot wait to visit again when we are not rushing off to a ticketed event. Thank you so much for your time and service.
This is, no exaggeration, my favorite restaurant in the world. And I say that as someone who’s traveled around the globe. The lasagna flights are without a doubt my death row meal. Every year, my best friend and I get on flights from wherever we are in the world and meet up here just to have the lasagna flights. This past visit we had the incredible lily as our waitress and she made our annual tradition even more special! Thank you lily!
I made a slightly chaotic, last-minute decision to grab a 10 PM reservation at La Lanterna di Vittorio on Valentine’s Day, and somehow it turned into one of the most memorable dinners I’ve had in a long time. Walking in that late, you might expect a restaurant to feel tired or rushed, but the opposite was true. The space was glowing — warm, romantic, and buzzing in that gentle after-dinner way where everyone is settled in and happy to linger. It felt intimate without being cramped, special without being stuffy. Exactly what you hope for on Valentine’s night, especially if your planning style leans more “optimistic spontaneity” than “booked three weeks ahead.” The staff set the tone immediately. Even at 10 PM on one of the busiest restaurant nights of the year, they were welcoming, patient, and genuinely kind. No one made us feel like the late table they were trying to turn. We were encouraged to relax, take our time, and enjoy ourselves, which made a huge difference. Now, the highlight: the lasagna flight. First of all, whoever decided a lasagna flight should exist deserves recognition. It’s playful but still comforting, and it lets you experience a range of flavors without committing to just one. Each variation had its own personality, from rich and deeply savory to lighter, more delicate bites. The pasta was tender, the sauces tasted like they’d been simmering all day, and every forkful felt thoughtfully put together rather than rushed out for the holiday crowd. What I loved most was that it managed to feel indulgent without knocking you out for the night. You could savor it, compare favorites, trade bites, and actually have fun with it. It turned dinner into an experience instead of just a meal. By the time we left, the room had thinned a bit, the candles were still flickering, and it felt like we’d discovered a secret pocket of calm at the end of a hectic evening. There was something really sweet about closing down Valentine’s Day there, full and happy, walking back out into the city feeling like we’d made exactly the right call. If you’re looking for a place that understands romance but doesn’t take itself too seriously, where the food is comforting but still interesting, and where late reservations are treated with the same care as prime time, this is it. I’ll absolutely be back — and I’m getting that lasagna flight again.
This place is a fantastic Italian restaurant! 🇮🇹 La Lanterna di Vittorio serves an endless selection of delicious 🤤 dishes 🍽️ like pasta 🍝, panini 🥪, and more! Their crown 👑 jewel 💎 is the Lasagna Flight - four personal servings of different lasagnas. You can choose between meat 🍖, vegetarian , or seafood 🐟 lasagnas. The place is beautifully decorated 🛋️ and has lots of indoor seating 🪑 across a dining hall and an covered and air-conditioned 🌬️ outdoor garden! 🏡 Ambience 🎶 is great! The staff 👨🍳 is super friendly and professional and the service is quick. ⏲️ I wish I came here sooner and more often!
Loved the pizza! It’s a blend of NY style and Neopolitan. NY style crust that was perfectly cooked. True Italian in the sauce and toppings. Speck was top notch. The lasagna flight was delicious. Good value for the village!
Delicious food!! Lasagna flight is a must (my friends and I shared that and a couple other dishes. The back garden area is lovely!
Listen. I have been to a LOT of sushi restaurants in the city. Ever since 2009. This one really, really impressed me. It hits on all 3 aspects that make going out in this city so amazing: the service was so fun and kind, the food was perfect, and the atmosphere and ambiance was fun and nice but not too loud. More than that, pricing is pretty competitive compared to other sushi restaurants! They have a sushi boat deal where you can choose your own rolls (or chef's choice) for $119, plus other bigger options depending on your group size, so this place is great for groups. I'd only recommend for groups up to 8, however; any higher than that, you'll probably end up having to split tables because the back dining room is relatively small. Pro tip: If you're in a group of 4-6, ask for a booth! They're nicely formatted for a solid group dinner. I celebrated a birthday here for my partner, and we walked away feeling so impressed, so much more than we were expecting. The appetizers were a perfect start – *highly* recommend the shishito peppers and edamame, by the way – and we also ordered sake from a very solid menu of bottles. (They also have an amazing happy hour deal between 12-6 pm for unlimited select drinks and beer for $30!) I can't rave enough about this place; it's definitely been saved in my giant list of favorites. And we'll definitely be recommending to all of our friends and acquiantances! Go give it a try!
The food is really good and service is always good as well. The awesome thing about this place is its unexpected huge portion sizes! Definitely enough to have for the next day if you’re unable to finish it. Would recommend you try the spicy tonkotsu ramen with an egg added on or the katsu curry!!! For drinks the zutto punch is the go to!!
Wonderful food and great service. We had a great dinner at this Ramen place. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen is very flavorful, the broth is amazing. My husband ordered the TanTan men and it was so tasty. We shared the Twins roll and that was a superstar dish! I highly recommend this Ramen restaurant. The place is small and intimate and the decor is great.
Excellent Food, Great Service, and a Cozy Spot Near Little Italy! Zutto Japanese Ramen Sushi Bar is a fantastic find — the food is consistently delicious. The spicy miso ramen is especially outstanding, and the sushi is fresh and well-prepared. Add to that a nice selection of Japanese sides and affordable beers, and you’ve got a winning combo. The service is excellent — friendly, fast, and attentive. The place is clean and well-maintained, and it’s clearly popular for a reason. Located just a short walk from Little Italy, it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a flavorful, satisfying meal. Highly recommend!
Food, service, and atmosphere all get 3 stars. But value. 5 stars. Great value. The $3 appetizer and $3 cocktail deal is too good. And the drinks are STRONG. So worth the money. And actually tasty (but sweet). The food is like pretty decent. It’s nothing special honestly. But perfectly good enough sushi. We ordered 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, and 2 mains for 3 people and it came out to $60 after tax and tip. Truly a good deal.
Really great ramen! Flavorful broth packed with fresh ingredients. The sushi was also really good. Mixed drinks were tasty and there were a decent amount of Sake selections available. They have a decent amount of tables for a small, cozy restaurant. Quick service too. This was our first time here but we will definitely stop in again to try more dishes!
This restaurant was such a surprise, from the outside we weren’t sure. The staff were very friendly and picked a nice booth. We started with the cauliflower bites and charred edamame which was amazing, never had that charred before the cauliflower was crispy and delicious. My friend had the tonkotsu and said how rich and creamy it was. Really good chunks of pork. I had the vegetable soup Ramen which had spinach noodles. Never had before but I thought had great flavour and texture, firm. It had quite a lot of tofu and packed full of veg. Great size.
Our first restaurant we ate at during our first trip to NY! It's a small intimate restaurant, very cozy. We were fortunate to not wait at all for a table as we weren't picky where to sit with our 2 young daughters. My girls love pizza and were excited to try some from a new place. We got the appetizer focaccia crisps and they were amazing. Their pizzas were phenomenal as well. We got a simple cheese and their pizza with chorizo. If we were to ever go back to NY, we definitely would be stopping there again!
had a reservation for 9:15 PM and arrived only after it was confirmed. Upon arrival, I was told at the entrance that the kitchen would be closing in five minutes. The hostess kindly said she would stay until I finished and that there was no pressure, so I decided to proceed. In reality, I was asked to rush my order, and once it was placed, I was not allowed to add or change anything because the kitchen had closed. The first course was excellent — a salad with mixed greens and red tuna — but only a few minutes after it was served, the main course was already placed on the table. I felt constant pressure to hurry up and leave, which completely ruined the experience. I ate quickly, my soup got cold while I was still eating the first course, and I didn’t enjoy it at all. Unfortunately, the overall experience left a bad taste and took away what could have been a very enjoyable meal.
Went to Zutto for dinner based on the 4.7 stars review on Google. I must say I am a little disappointed. The Karaage chicken and pork gyoza didn’t have the authentic flavour, the Karaage chicken isn’t crunchy or juicy enough. Pork gyoza were pretty much the same, the dumpling skin was a little thick and the fillings were quite plain. We were then looking forward to the tonkotsu shoyu ramen. It looked nice when the bowl came out. It was packed with ingredients and we added both Nitamago and Onsen egg to the ramen. Although the Chashu and the eggs were good, the broth was lacking flavour. The interior is nice, pleasant, service was good. But overall, it was an average dining experience for us. The price was pretty good, so if you are looking for something inexpensive to dine, this place is then worth a visit.
To be honest, I went to the restaurant based on google maps recommendations, I must say it was a disappointment. We decided to try sushi (Philadelphia rolls) It was the only authentic thing made by someone who knows sushi. The ramen was simple, without much flavor, we really didn't like it. Also the price is high for such a simple flavor plate. We realized that we were not the only people who had been left with the bad taste of the food, as several tables left their plates with food still on them. On the other hand, the service was fast and friendly as well as attentive but still, it is not a place I would want to return to.
The atmosphere is amazing, really cool and spooky Halloween decor. The service was okay, nothing to rave about. My problem was the food, the presentation made me think it would be delicious but it was the opposite. I had the chicken katsu sandwich/burger and it was so hard and overcooked I thought something was wrong with my mouth. I was convinced it was me or the cabbage on the sandwich was frozen but lo and behold it was the chicken the whole time. Also the flavor on the sandwich was weird and not cohesive and needed more sauce. My friend had the ramen and said it was mid. So, maybe come here for the vibe, but don't for the food. Also 28 dollars for a sandwich.... Come on.
It was recommended and rated high in google maps. My only word is, overrated! Ramens are really mid level here. Noodles were sticked to each other and broth is not that flavorful. Ramen should he presenting itself with its look, and also look was not charming. You can use bigger bowls to put ingredients one by one more presentable. It looks like moose that way, all in one, already combined. Gyoza was nice, inside was filled with juice. Sushi was not good. It was more stickier than it should be. Tip: Use more rice vinegar to make it less stickier, and cook less.
I reserved a table for my friend’s birthday. She was running late and they said it was okay and seated us anyway. The food was just okay, very under seasoned . The lasagna was the best part. Overall very very mid. The server also forgot to give us our pizza in the takeaway box. He was barely present. It was also very loud in there, not even from music or anything— everyone was just very very loud.
