Opinions de Sutton Bar Room New York
First time here . Nice and cozy . Our table was ready because we had a reservation . The server was friendly and quick with taking our orders . Drinks and appetisers came quick and so did our mains . Everything was flowing quickly and smoothly . Food quality was pretty good especially the rock shrimp. The sushi platter was nice with variety and the drinks were nice as well . Overall we had a great dinner experience . 👍
Really enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is quiet and there were 5 sushi chefs so the service was quick. Nice variety and very high quality. Reasonably priced compared to the very high end sushi establishments in NYC. They also have entrees as well.
The best Sushi restaurant in the Upper East town neighborhood , the stuff is so welcoming and helpful, and dining environment is cozy and chill, Sushi and fish rolls and Sashimi are fresh and delicious! Highly recommend to Dine here with friends and families!
This sushi place is a gem! The food is incredibly fresh, with each bite bursting with flavor. The staff is warm and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant itself is spotless, with a clean and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious sushi and great service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ fyi:I ordered the crispy rice twice because its so good!!
My friend lives in the area and recommend this place for sushi. The sushi rolls were good and the fish was fresh and fatty. My favorite was the fantastic roll.
That crispy rice with spicy tuna on top was amazing. The environment gives me a super chill Vibe. Whereas I naturally feel hyped to try everything here out. The sushi rolls are made really nicely I couldn’t hold myself to take a picture. Overall the staff here are all really nice, the foods super tasty, and the design of the restaurant is so comfortable.
Love this local sushi spot! I’ve been about ten times now, and every dish has been consistently delicious—from the miso soup to the nori tacos and sushi rolls. The staff is super friendly, the vibe is trendy, and the food never misses. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend the sushi & sashimi combo, the fish here is exceptionally fresh and flavorful. The servers are super friendly and efficient, making the whole meal time relaxing. I’ll definitely be coming back!
We stopped by for a quick bite at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere! Can't wait to come back once for a proper dinner!
Stumbled across this place as our other go to sushi restaurant was closed. But I could easily say, this will be my new favorite go to sushi restaurant. From the food to the atmosphere to the friendly service I give this place a 11/10 if I could. The sushi / sashimi was extremely fresh and tasty. My personal favorite was the toro. Even a basic dish that most restaurants have is rock shrimp tempura and that was the best rock shrimp tempura I had as it was not heavily drenched in sauce and had a crispyness to it. The service was excellent, friendly, and attentive so my glass was always filled with water.
Great addition to the neighborhood! Sushi and drinks are very good and the staff is extremely friendly, sincere and accommodating. Service is a bit slow but I’m sure it will only improve with time. We will be back
Best sushi place in the area. Amazing food, extremely friendly staff, very enjoyable atmosphere. I highly recommend the shrimp dumplings, the buns, the Kani salad. the summer roll.
I’ve tried a lot different sushi restaurants in NYC,the fish here is definitely fresh, people are nice too, very friendly,no doubt I will come back again and again.
Came in hungry, left happy. Food was really good and fresh. What made this experience better is the quick service and very welcoming. They assisted me with the selection and didn’t fail at all.
Absolutely amazing food! Fabulous cocktails and great wine list. Service was great. Our daughter lives nearby and took us here and we were incredibly impressed! Everything we ordered was outstanding! Very highly recommend!!!!
Stopped by for lunch. Slightly more than I usually budget for lunch, but well worth it. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the miso soup was the best Ive had in the city so far. The service was great and the atmosphere is lovely and welcoming!
Lovely Sushi restaurant! Spacious seating. Enjoyed Sushi and other dishes. Fast service. Helpful staff. Definitely worth a visit. Good neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Busy and loud.
Very good sushi spot, plus a lot of other great dishes. Went 30 minutes before closed food was phenomenal. Been multiple times always great. Beef negamaki, hibachi fried rice, real miso. Really nice and cozy.
This bar nails the perfect neighborhood vibe. The happy hour drinks are well-priced and always hit the spot, which naturally draws a lively crowd. It gets busy, but in a welcoming, upbeat way that makes the place feel social rather than overwhelming. One of the best features is the large street-facing windows that open wide during warm weather, letting fresh air and sunshine flow in and blurring the line between inside and out. It’s the kind of spot where you can casually stop in for one drink and end up staying much longer, soaking in the atmosphere. A great place to unwind, people-watch, and enjoy a relaxed yet energetic bar experience.
Absolutely amazing amazing amazing bar, not enough words. Had a birthday party here for 20 people and it was genuinely the BEST. The service was everything and more, the vibes were immaculate, and the music was great. 10/10 experience! A big thanks to Nick who helped reserve the space for me, it was truly a blast!!! We will be there again soon :)
Has always been my favorite spot in Sutton. Hosted a private party over the weekend and cannot recommend it enough. They are super flexible and kind. Drinks are 10/10!
Everyday Happy Hour with a Great selection, & they let you in bring your own food. Would definitely be a regular here
Best bar in the neighborhood! All the bar tenders are very friendly and professional! Drinks are very reasonably priced. No food on the menu but you can order delivery food right to the bar, which is so cool! Great place to watch sports games Not too loud either
Great place, institution in the neighborhood and really fair priced drinks in Manhattan. All the bartenders are very friendly and welcoming and the cocktails are surprisingly good. No kitchen so bring your own food but everything including the bathroom is clean. It’s a favorite among our friends.
This place really does have happy hour til 8 on weekdays - an incredible deal if you're cool with a small selection of beers on tap for $5-6, wow! Nice bar staff and a good number of tables. Cozy place.
This is hands down the BEST bar in the area for young people. The after work drink culture is crazy active here. I’ve seen book clubs, birthdays, trivia night teams, regulars, and irregulars alike meet random strangers here every time I visit. Feels like a real community and a great vibe. Plus the drinks are CHEAP and the happy hour goes late.
Sutton Bar Room, formerly known as Sin Bin, is a gem in the heart of the neighborhood, radiating a welcoming vibe that resonates with its patrons. Since its inception, and especially after Nick took over, this pub has transformed into a local favorite. I have been coming to this pub with friends, family, or, most commonly, coworkers. Every visit to Sutton Bar Room feels like coming home. The familiar, cozy atmosphere paired with exceptional staff hard to find elsewhere. In conclusion, Sutton Bar Room isn't just a bar; it's a home where memories are made, be they after 1 drink or 10. It's the kind of place you keep returning to... I still do even after moving out of the neighborhood a few year ago.
nice bar with great ambience and options for both indoor and outdoor seating. i came here once during and once after happy hour and either way, prices were pretty standard / affordable. i definitely recommend the espresso martini and aperol spritz cocktails. the espresso martini was bold and strong and tasted great, and the aperol spritz was light and incredibly refreshing. i also tried their cucumber gin which was refreshing too but i didn't like it as much, and a red wine happy hour special.
Stopped in on a whim and so glad we did! Dark and cozy, and the drinks were delicious. The bartender with the long red hair and glasses was wonderful and even turned on the AC for me as I was having a hot flash, which was much appreciated. The decor is unique and warranted photos. Would love to return next time we are in NYC.
The price is pretty cheap, and the bartender himself is nice. The old fashioned here is good, but I would recommend the draft beers and IPA here, which is special and refreshing. However, there are too many people in the bar with only one person to handle all of the works, which makes it rather difficult to order drinks and makes us a little lost (end of October) Still a recommended bar here at midtown east!
Ooof this was one of the toughest dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Everyone from the hostess to the waitress was chaotic and had the worst energy despite us being as kind and patient as possible. The food overall lacked flavor and was overpriced for a neighborhood with so many sushi spots. We went here because it looked pretty, and wanted a nicer dining experience but it seemed clear you were paying more for the aesthetic of the place and not the quality of the food. The waitress kept coming over asking for the order despite us having just sat down and when I said I needed just one more minute, she physically waved her hand like “ugh” and walked away. I’m not sure if I read that wrong but we were all kind of surprised at the response to needed just another minute. Also - One of us didn’t receive the correct order (Which isn’t a huge deal, it happens) so when they went to fix it(it was only 1 roll) it took so long everyone else had finished. The restaurant didn’t make it right in any way other than apologize but they still had her pay for it despite it being almost 40 minute late. It seemed clear the waitress just didn’t want to tell anyone of the mistake so she wasn’t going to take it off the bill. Overall it was wildly overpriced and a terrible experience. Super bummed since it looked like it would be a nice place to go to frequently.
I don’t usually write reviews, but my boyfriend and I went to this restaurant on weekends and we were very disappointed. The service was very fast, and the place is nice , but we are sushi taste and we were very disappointed when our $ 4.5ea sashimi salmon came frozen. For that price, something like that should never happen. We ordered 4 of them and when the bill came, only the two that we had sent back were taken off the bill so we had to tell our waiter that we didn’t want to pay for the two that were frozen. Keep in mind that it is a pretty expensive restaurant and that is not acceptable to serve that quality of food for that pice. I do NOT recommand .
We’ve always had wonderful experiences with people in NYC, but this bartender was the exception. From the moment we arrived, he was extremely rude—he literally threw the menu at us and didn’t speak with us. Not only did he not serve our drinks at the table, but we had to go get them ourselves. When we asked for the WiFi, he took one of our phones to enter the password himself and got it wrong twice. After that, we just gave up. On top of this, the bar was completely empty, except for a few of his friends (or people he knew). To make matters worse, the bathroom was dirty, and we even saw a cockroach. Definitely not a place we’d ever return to or recommend.
