Opinions de Tartine New York
My wife and daughter told me this is a restaurant from the NYC series "Sex and the City" / "And just like that." Whatever. We had a delicious West Village breakfast as soon as they opened in the morning. Very nice interior. Fast and friendly service. Recommended!
My decades long favorite afternoon food stop in the West Village. Anything is good. Nice wine selection by the glass. No longer make their amazing dacqoise, which is too bad. This time round. Mussels. Fries. Two Sancerre. $65. A tasty bargain. Sit on the external terrace if you can and watch the sun light filter through the leaves. Soon to be gone, as winter arrives
Tartine – Our Forever Favorite in the West Village Some places feed you more than food—and Tartine is one of those rare, irreplaceable spots. Tucked into the dreamiest little corner of the West Village, Tartine is where my husband and I had our very first date night. It’s where he took me for my first birthday after we met. And later, it’s where we shot part of our wedding photos. Even my husband’s colleagues gifted us wedding anniversary gift card from Tartine ! That’s how personal this place is to us. We’ve been back more times than I can count, and it’s never just about the food (though the food is always good). It’s about the energy, the people, the warmth. The staff are some of the kindest you’ll meet in New York—no pretense, just genuine hospitality. Even though they don’t take reservations, you never feel rushed or forgotten. People wait patiently, because everyone seems to know: it’s worth it. The food? Honest. Generous. Comforting. There’s nothing overly fussy—just really well-made dishes that feel like home. My go-to is the crab cake when it’s available (an underrated gem), and if you’re lucky, the white frosted cheesecake will be on the menu—soft, light, and absolutely dreamy. My husband swears by the burger. The menu changes often enough to keep things exciting, but the soul of it stays the same. In summer, Tartine is extra magical. The leafy West Village corner, the big windows, the sunlight filtering in—it’s the kind of spot you want to sit at for hours with someone you love. But even on a rainy or gloomy day, something about it lifts your mood. It just feels good to be there. Tartine may not be flashy or trendy, but that’s exactly why we love it. It’s one of those truly underrated places that deserves to be cherished—and we’ll keep coming back, again and again💗💗💗
We recently dined at Tartine and had an overall pleasant experience, largely thanks to the warm and attentive service– definitely the highlight of the day. We started with the Fresh bursts with Truffle salad, which was a standout. The combination of artichokes, peppers, beets, and a fantastic burrata made it a fresh and flavorful way to begin the meal. Highly recommend. For mains, I had the special homemade pasta with salmon, shrimp, and mussels. While the seafood portion was decent, the dish lacked seasoning, and both the salmon and shrimp were slightly overcooked. My friend had another special, a quiche/pizza hybrid with anchovies and that was delicious, with bold flavors and a satisfying texture. We also tried the rosé from the wine specials, which was excellent and paired beautifully with the meal. In short: Service and starters were top-notch, wine was lovely, mains were hit or miss. Would come back, but might choose a different entrée next time.
BYOB, decent food, in the village - usually you pick 2 outta 3, but Tartine hits it out of the park. Other than the bizarre amount of manchego on my paillard (still delicious, just extravagant by French standards) this took me back to my time living in Paris. Go on a day where the patio is tolerable and have a good time!
Tartine in the West Village is a charming little gem that I had the pleasure of discovering recently, and my experience there was nothing short of delightful. My initial encounter with this quaint restaurant was serendipitous, as I stumbled upon it while passing by during the filming of the hit HBO show “And Just Like That,” featuring Sarah Jessica Parker and John Corbett. Intrigued by the lively atmosphere and the bustling scene, I decided to return the next day for lunch. Upon my arrival, I was immediately drawn to the restaurant's cozy ambiance, reminiscent of a classic French café. The warm, inviting decor and intimate seating create a perfect setting for a leisurely meal. The outdoor seating area is particularly lovely, providing a serene escape in a quiet neighborhood lined with trees. It felt like a little slice of Paris right in the heart of New York City. For lunch, I opted for the iced tea and the French onion soup, both of which were absolutely delicious. The iced tea was refreshing and perfectly brewed, a great complement to my meal. The French onion soup, on the other hand, was a standout dish. It was rich and flavorful, topped with a generous layer of melted cheese and served piping hot. Each spoonful was comforting and satisfying, making it clear that Tartine takes pride in its culinary offerings. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, which contributed to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. In conclusion, my visit to Tartine was a delightful experience that exceeded my expectations. The combination of delicious food, cozy ambiance, and friendly service makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely lunch or a casual dinner. Whether you’re a local or just visiting the West Village, I highly recommend stopping by Tartine. It's a charming escape that captures the essence of a French café while offering a taste of delicious comfort food. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!
I LOOOVE THIS PLACE. My favorite restaurant in the city. 1. It’s BYOB with no corkage fee, and the staff is so amazing as soon as they see you walk in they pop your bottle of choice open and chill it 2. The menu is GIVING. Their fries slap like you’re actually in France, the Burger is the King of burgers in the west village 3. The atmosphere… TRY to beat sitting at the cutest little restaurant corner in the West Village of New York. You literally feel like you’re in a movie with all the greenery and trees. No crowds or hoards of people bothering you. So nice. 4. It’s WALK IN. You can pop in this beauty any time, and if there’s a wait, check out one of the bars around the area or just stroll down the street. I love this place and if it ever closes I will be immensely sad. My photos do NOT do it justice but trust, you will not be disappointed.
Nice French spot in the West Village. One of my favorite places to eat in the village. It’s like you’re in a little cafè in France. I love their sautéed chicken or the beef mignonette. Their fries always comes out great and it comes also with some salad which is nice. Great service and friendly staff. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the village looking for a nice spot to eat.
Came here on a Friday night around 7. Indoor and outdoor seating available even now in January the winter. Nice selection of wines to choose from. I had the rosé which tasted great. I ordered the spicy chicken which wasn’t that spicy in a pepper sense. The sauce was the star of the dish, it tasted great with the fries. Find it interesting that it comes with a scoop of guacamole. The guacamole was amazing, very flavorful. The chicken was on the dryer side and the sauce wasn’t able to compensate for that fully. It was a very lean cut of chicken which I appreciate. The fries were crispy, hot and fresh- very French bistro style. The place fills up quickly but I was glad to not have a wait. Staff is eh- not that friendly or engaging. Bathroom facilities are clean and well-kept. My date had the mussels with fries, he enjoyed guys dish. They had a few specials off the standard menu which included a soup as well as a crab cake. The value was great, bill came out to only 70 dollars for everything.
Food was really good - had the croque madame and the apple pancake. They were very tasty and the apple pancake wasn’t overly sweet. Service was kind and efficient. Space is cozy by some definitions, extremely tight by others.
The food was good. The place is small which is great. However if you have back problems please note the seats on the edge of restaurant have the window as the back. If you have back issues you’ll want to sit in the middle for support. They French onion soup is a+. The burger is fine. It’s a bit over flavored with to many flavors at once but in all it was nice. No ketchup or other dipping sauces which is fine, but the burger was a bit dry to have nothing to dip in
Tartine benefits from being in a prime spot within NYC and I think the prices reflect the same. The space is tiny but really well done. Food was good but had limited vegetarian options and they don’t offer substitutions. I should also note that I was here for brunch with friends and a couple of us don’t consume eggs which made it harder.
Food is very good, although I found the risotto to be a bit underwhelming. The space is VERY tight so expect to be bumping shoulders with the table next to you. Honestly where Tartine is at its weakest is in the service, it might be just a one off but on the day I went the waiters were rude and not willing to answer questions about the menu.
Food was very mediocre and especially for this price you’d expect something much better. We had 3 different dishes and 2 of them were very disappointing. French toast was so soggy and undercooked, and eggs were really bad quality. Coffee wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either. We really wanted to like this place but we were disappointed.
