Opinions de Turkish Cuisine New York
Amazing food and great service! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend the lamb chops and the appetizers. I will definitely come back!
Our carriage driver recommended this place and we walked over there from Central Park. It took 30 minutes. The staff was so pleasant, willing to recommend dishes. They ever treated us with tea in the end. The food was so delicious. We had so many salad dishes, and appetizers and a dessert (almond pudding) with grilled meat platter. Everything was delicious!! But perhaps my favorite was the atmosphere with photos and figurines. It felt like I traveled just by being there. We will visit again.
Wonderful Turkish cuisine on 9th Ave. The food and service were both excellent, and the ambiance was peaceful, visually appealing, and full of good energy. I used to work in the area, so it was an easy walk for me. Since it’s in the city, parking can be a challenge—your best bet is using a nearby parking garage. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the neighborhood.
This is our third visit to this restaurant. All dishes were very tasty. The interior has an interesting design, pleasant music and very friendly staff who helps with a choice. I highly recommend the lamb chops, sangria, sun dried stuffed eggplant and almond pudding. We will definitely come back again!
I'm writing this review as I'm eating because the appetizers are so good I would come back to just eat what we have tasted. The grilled sweet peppers with yogurt sauce was out of this world, the mix of sweet and the char on them and then the cool smooth yogurt was beyond compare. The ezme, it's in the top left of the photo. It was described as a mix of vegetables with Turkish spices. If you don't like spicy food then this isn't for you but otherwise please try it. I'm embarrassed to say I ate it with a spoon and shared very little. We tried the traditional hummus and a spicy green one. Creamy and lovely. I think I would have liked my entree more, a vegan eggplant stuffed with rice and herbs with yogurt sauce, if I wasn't still thinking of the appetizers. My family had the grilled lamb chops, tender and cooked nicely. I think the French fries were the best we've ever had. Not a food I thought I would ever review. Finally the restaurant is covered in the most interesting decor. Black and white photos of Turks of all ages adorn the walls, along with figurines in traditional costumes. The restaurant is way too crowded for photos. I'm definitely coming back, especially because we are way too full for dessert.
We ate here a couple of times and both times had great food and experience. Manti, a Turkish delicacy, a must try, is soft and delicious. The pepper with yogurt app special was great, as was the Adana beyti kebab. Ayran was superb. Servers are friendly and attentive. I would definitely return and recommend others to try if they like or are curious about Turkish food.
Absolutely amazing experience at Turkish Cuisine! I ordered the lamb chops special and it was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It came with a fresh salad and perfectly crunchy French fries that were fantastic. Their lemonade deserves a special mention, it’s honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, providing some of the best service I’ve experienced anywhere in the city. The decor and atmosphere strike the perfect balance between cozy and spacious. It feels warm and inviting, almost like you’re a guest in someone’s home, yet there’s plenty of room for larger groups too. A wonderful spot for everything from casual dinners to special occasions. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Nice and cozy place. You can choose to sit in a small dining hall or in the garden backyard. Food was delicious. Stuff was a bit too friendly (haha) so plates disappeared at the same second you stopped eating. Don't forget to take a closer look to their interior! I like that vibe with authentic pictures, amulets and even little figures of their sultans. Most of the food was eaten before I remembered to take a pic so it's definitely a good sign!
Absolutely delicious and probably the friendliest staff in Manhattan. This place is great and has fresh food constantly coming out of the oven that can make for a quick lunch or a leisurely lunch/dinner. Outdoor patio as well. Cozy environment that makes it a good date spot but easily big enough for a group. The manti dumplings are flavorful on their own and really shine when prepared with yogurt and sumac. Good place to be adventurous and try something new. The staff will have a lot of recommendations-give one or two a try and then come back for the rest later.
Popped in for some appetizers before a show. We were amazed at the flavors and stayed for dinner. We had the spinach and feta pastry, hummus, chicken kebab with eggplant, and baklava for dessert (of course!) The white sangria was delightful. Each dish had layers of flavor and tasted like you were being served something from your grandmother’s secret recipes. You MUST try this place!
LOVE this restaurant! We are visiting the city, and a very nice lady walked out and spoke to us for a bit about the food and their offerings. We already had dinner plans for another restaurant, but came today for lunch. OMG the food was delicious and the garden seating in the back was quaint. The food is delicious, and we will definitely come back on our next visit to NYC.
I had the great pleasure of dining in for lunch. The staff was welcoming the ambience/atmosphere was culturally artististic, clean and modern. I thought if they keep the place so well the food should be right. It was more than right. The attention they take in the food (cooked properly, fresh and delicious). I almost didn't want to post this so I could this gem my secret spot but it deserves the attention. Stop by and try it when you leave you will be like me wondering when will I get a chance in my schedule to return. I like to review places that get my attention. Don't hesitate after you leave, you will realize it was the right decision to show up. I didn't get a photo of the Turkish tea and dessert both were well worth it.
Went here before a show, and the staff graciously found us a table for two. Food was solid, but not over the top outstanding. Branzino that was on special was cooked well, but watch out for bones if that's your choice! Lamb chops were cooked medium-well, over my preferred medium rare, but they tasted fine. Wine pours were generous, and the Cacik appetizer was delicious. But be sure to ask for extra pita at the start because you'll need it! Overall a good experience, and if Turkish food is your craving and you're in the theater district, you could do much worse.
The food here is delicious and halal, making it a great spot if you enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine. The café has a charming old-style design that adds to the experience. However, we were surprised to see a gratuity charge already included in the bill and were also asked for a tip on top of that. Just something to be aware of when visiting.
We were passing by and stopped to check the menu. The waiter came and told us about the specials and persuaded us to try it, so we thought why not! We went in and the vibe is great. It is a cute little authentic place. We ordered soup of the day (red lentil soup) which was came with pita bread. It was tasty, but portion size was small for $10. I ordered a house lemonade which was not on the menu. It was good and had real berries but still found it expensive for $8. We also ordered grilled combo platter with rice for one person and the portion size was enough for one person but it tasted ok for $29 a plate. Then we asked for a check, the waiter got a platter of desserts to show their options for the day. We insisted for the check and then he brought one. You should ask for specials because they have couple of them which are not on the menu. The main turn off was the value for price and the consistent persuasion for menu items.
They have an interesting decor, which includes up close photos of old and young people. See the sample of wall decorations I have included here. While dining in their garden today, I had their lamb with yogurt ($32 + tax). Much of the lamb flavor was gone due to dryness and tomato sauce. The portion is a nice size. I have eaten here twice, once in the garden and once in the indoor dining room.
While visiting New York, I was looking for a Turkish restaurant with a sit-down area and decided to try this place. The interior was nice, and with the temperature over 100°F outside, the air conditioning was a relief. Our server was friendly and even mentioned he had recently moved from Turkey, which added a personal touch. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing and extremely overpriced. I ordered lamb, and it was very dry and lacked flavor. At the end of the meal, we were pushed to order dessert, which we declined because the main dishes were already expensive and not worth the price. If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality Turkish food, this is not the place.
