Opinions de Via Brasil New York
I'm a Brazilian girl born and raised there for 18 years who is always looking for an authentic Brazilian restaurant experience and I had an amazing time! 15/15 atmosphere, service and food
Via Brasil is absolutely amazing! The food is authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared every dish truly tastes like Brazil. From the perfectly seasoned meats to the delicious sides and desserts, everything is fresh and full of flavor. The staff is just as wonderful as the food. They are friendly, attentive, and make you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. The service is warm and efficient, creating such a great dining experience. If you’re looking for excellent Brazilian cuisine with outstanding service, Via Brasil is a must-visit! 🇧🇷✨
Via Brasil is my favorite Brazilian restaurant. I have been going there for several years. Initially, I went to the upscale Ipanema restaurant across the street, which serves Portuguese & Brazilian food. One day, I was in the mood for some Brazilian food and wanted to feel more at home. So, I crossed the street to a restaurant that looked like a place I would find in Brazil, Via Brasil! I felt right at home. The waiter who served me explained the menu and how to add the condiments to my food. Since I go back year after year, I usually bring my younger son with me. Of course, I get the same waiter, and he teaches my son how to pronounce the words in Brazilian Portuguese. Sharing these moments makes me feel connected and grateful for the warmth of this place. Recently, my older son threw me a surprise birthday party at Via Brasil. We had just finished seeing Alddain on Broadway when he said, "I got a surprise for you!" He called and changed my reservation; the restaurant was entirely booked, but they accommodated his request. He informed them it was my birthday and helped him plan a family party. The effort made me feel loved and appreciated, highlighting how special Via Brasil is for our family moments. The food was excellent, and the drinks were terrific. They were not watered down like most places. The owner visited our table throughout the dinner, making sure we got what we requested. Hopefully, for the next family dinner party, I'll have my 5-year-old filha from Brasil, and she can teach the waiter a thing or two in Portuguese. I loved this place!!
Simply put, this was a heavenly & blissful experience. Of course at that same time experiences like that come at a steep cost but for this place, it was worth it. As I set just one foot inside the area I was already greeted by an older gentleman who might be the boss/owner of the restaurant. Not gonna lie, I was pretty intimidated coming in here because the staff are very well dressed and here I am in a sports coat, hoodie, jeans and sneakers. The area as a while looked immaculate, clearly above my pay grade and I joked to him about it as he led me to my table. He also jested if I also have the money to afford the food here. No worries fam, I'm good on that. As I chose my place to sit at, a waiter came only mere seconds and took my order. She was very nice and accommodating as everything was served to me in a timely manner. The whole area was running like clock work as if it had that feel you're dining in an upper echelon establishment in NYC, just taking in the atmosphere as Brazilian tunes reverberate through the restaurant from smooth jazz to bossa nova. My meal for the day, Bife á Parmegiana which is steak parm with Spaghetti and I had that with Iced tea which is unsweetened by the way so make sure you request sugar if you prefer yours sweet but I'm pretty sure the waiter like mine would ask you if you want sugar to go with your tea. Anyway back to the steak and pasta. I first thought it was a bit on the small side but it's surprisingly filling. The Steak has some chew to it but the taste is certainly there with that mix of breading and parmesean cheese to give the Brazilian staple steak more of an Italian taste. Spaghetti was done very well bordering close to al dente. Meal altogether came up to $40 and gave a solid $10 tip for how comfortable I felt in the whole setting. This place is a definite revisit for me, though of course with what you get here, expect to pay top dollar for it. It's certainly worth it.
I had a meal worth remembering at this place. Staff provided good attention, food came without delay, and all dishes were well-prepared. The food stays true to cultural roots and staff truly care. Every staff member demonstrates superior skills. This spot offers a relaxing ambiance.
This spot has earned my loyalty through consistent excellence. Great food and professional staff created a perfect experience. All employees demonstrate friendly attitudes. Your money goes further at this place. I enjoyed my visit very much.
I couldn't help but make happy noises while eating. Their cooking features unique components used well. This restaurant shows cooking skill. Workers here gave friendly attention alongside pleasant information. I wish this spot continued prosperity.
Coming from Brazil, I’m always searching for food and places that bring me closer to home. Via Brasil is by far the most authentic Brazilian food I’ve found—it truly feels like a second home. The bar serves amazing, authentic caipirinhas, and the garsons (waiters) are so warm and friendly they’ve become like friends. The food is excellent, top quality, and at a fair price. It’s the perfect spot to impress a date, bring your mom, family, or kids, and also a great place to enjoy with friends or coworkers. Every time I go, I feel closer to my culture. I truly love Via Brasil—thank you for everything! 🇧🇷❤️
Dined on 7/19/2025, what a great pick! Not familiar with the area, we picked this place after the friendly discussion when we stopped by during the day. Owner was very welcoming and funny. Service was outstanding, and the food... Wow! This place has pasted the test of time for a reason. Stop in and experience this yourself, you will appreciate the advice. Thanks to the staff and owner for making this a special experience, we'll be back for more!
I’ve never had Brazilian food before this and I’m glad my first experience was with Via Brazil! The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, their servers and bartender was very friendly upon entering the establishment. I went for a friends birthday and they were running a bit late and the bartender and servers welcomed us in and let us wait inside. I would definitely go back and suggest for everyone to try it! Oh and get the Mango Batida! My drink of the night haha!
I had an amazing experience at Via Brazil, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered vatapá, which is a unique and exotic dish from the Amazon region of Brazil. It’s a rarity to find it outside of the north or northwest of Brazil, and even in São Paulo, it’s only available in a few upscale restaurants. It was a real treat! We also tried the salmão tropical, a classic dish with a very refreshing flavor that paired perfectly with the meal. For drinks, I had a passion fruit mojito and a caipirinha de caju. If you’re not a fan of the strong taste of cachaça (similar to tequila), I highly recommend asking them to swap it for vodka instead. To finish the experience, I tried their authentic Brazilian coffee, which was the perfect end to the meal. They even served it with two complimentary brigadeiros, a delightful and authentic Brazilian treat that added a sweet touch to the experience. Overall, the food, drinks, and atmosphere made for a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Via Brazil for anyone looking for an authentic taste of Brazilian cuisine.
Do not waste your money on a high end steakhouse. This Brazilian spot does enough. Was able to get a two drinks, share a picanha plate, and share a dessert for just about 100 dollars. The only thing that I was not aware before was the 20% gratuity added to your bill. But this place was amazing.
The food is amazing. But few things made me give only 3 stars. The decoration is quite old, the chinaware and glassware also. There is no consistency with the staff, Some are very attentive and some are not nice at all. And they don't have any fresh juice. Price is ok, starter, 1 main, 1 dessert and 1 soft drink was 49$
I got the feijoada from the menu. It was more than enough food for two people. All the food was cooked properly and it had enough spices especially on point for salt. I don’t know if it is the dish but it was a bit luck luster in flavor. Like it was missing something to make it really special. Service was fast and in point.
This review is based on a Saturday afternoon visit at approximately 2:00 pm. Not crowded, plenty of seating available. This was our second visit to this establishment. Our first visit three years ago was wonderful, not so much this time. The food was over cooked, over priced and overall disappointing. The picanha was burnt, the chicken was tough, the pao de queijo was cold, and the caipirinha was not authentic tasting at all. The desserts were fabulous and the restaurant was very clean and our waiter was very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. Sadly, I would not return nor recommend.
I respect the culture, but unfortunately I can’t accept the taste. The fish is sooo dry and no taste, and the steak is overcooked.
