Opinions de Wilfie & Nell New York
Great drinks via friendly and on-point bartenders. Entire staff is fantastic. Fried chicken sandwich is the best in the city. Recommend unhesitatingly and with enthusiasm.
Solid Guinness pour. Steak sandwich + fries was great. Cool joint.
Best Irish environment in NY! Always friendly, courteous and attentive bartenders. And anongst all the trendy beer and ales, they have Miller High Life longnecks!
Good spot to grab drinks at an affordable price relative to other spots in the area. I would also mention that this is a good spot to go with a gorip of friends as the place is conducive to hanging out with the various tables and chairs inside the venue.
Delightful bar with a warm atmosphere and interesting drink options, really enjoyed the St Patrick's day special and the white Negroni
My son and I stopped in to have a cocktail and take a break from the big city and was the perfect spot!!!!- I ordered the muddled orange and it was soooo good.. He even wrote the ingredients down on one of their postcards.. I highly recommend you trying it out...
One of my favorite NYC bars, full stop. An authentic pub feel and good crowds on a weeknight. Food is great, one of my top burgers when you want something meaty and filling; great fries!
I’d have to say it’s one of my favorite bars in nyc. The crowd is a mix of locals and out of towners—varying in ages. It’s casual, yet it brings a good crowd. The drinks are good and less pricier than the other bars. I like that you can come here on a date or hangout with friends. It’s a nice without the pretentiousness of similar bars.
Loved the vibe in this place, and the bartender was great at making sure our drinks were exactly as strong as we wanted them. The energy here was so good. The place is pretty small. This spot is perfect for drinks and good conversation
Really nice bar. Great selection of draft beer. Cozy atmosphere. It is really clean and staff is also super friendly. Definitely recommend!
A hidden gem. It's so good that I was tempted to give it a terrible review in an effort to keep more people from finding out how great it is. On that note though, I will say it's a tiny place, and it being so great it gets PACKED on the weekends. If you're into that, more power to ya. Otherwise, I highly recommend going on a weekday afternoon. Super chill.
Place is a gem. Great music, great bartenders and a chill mood. It's becoming a West Village institution! Easy for a pop in to grab a beer or hunker down for a full night of food and drinks.
The burgers are to die for. One of the best in the city. I also love coming here just for the beers and the cozy atmosphere. When I was single I'd come here to mingle - was always busy in evenings and with lots of cute guys.
Got here early on a Friday around 5 and was able to secure a table. By 630 it was packed, our service was amazing
One of the best bars in NYC! It get's super fun and crowded on weekends. I've had a lot of great nights here. Decent food, friendly staff. Always a lively experience.
Great hole-in-the-wall with a charming UK pub vibe, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere.
Went with a group for post-dinner drinks. We were able to get a table for ~10 on a Wednesday night. Had the tots and fries along with a variety of mixed drinks - all were good. Service was decent for a crowded place.
Firstly, I want to say that our server Jean totally made the experience. He was awesome, wholesome, attentive, and had great style to boot! The food was very good, and the drinks were absolutely spectacular (which was a relief given they were $20 each!) Very expensive , but if you're willing to dish out the price you will be getting a good quality meal.
I’ve only ever been to Wilfie & Nell during the day, so this is a “daytime” review. I was there a few days ago and the service is fantastic. The waiter we had was attentive, personable and just plain good at her job. I was introduced to this bar by a friend and I’m a convert. I didn’t eat, but members of my party did and they enjoyed their meals.
Good atmosphere with plenty of drink options. Plenty of space so it doesn't feel crowded. It's located in a good area with close access to other bars and venues. Can be a bit noisy if there are many drunken patrons. Great staff that are very attentive.
I had an awesome time at this bar today with my friend. I forgot the name of the bartender or server who served me. But she was wonderful! I did a shot with her on the house and she complimented my outfit (which made me feel better).
Can be crowded on the weekends but the service is amazing, everyone is so friendly and the drinks are great! Good date night spot or a place to get together with friends.
One of the very best burgers in NYC - definitely in West Village (1000x better than Fairfax, sorry!) Have been coming here for years - tonight I really appreciated Collin as my waiter. He was on top of it and very sweet. Thanks Collin! See you soon 😎
You can always meet a kind stranger or generous bartender here! Fun for dates or a drink with friends. Also maintains later hours than most west village bars
What a great spot! We came here on a friends recommendation and left super happy. First off, the place looks super cute, cozy and nice. You walk in to a comfortable bar space with tables peppered in throughout. The drinks were amazing. We got the West of 7th which is lemony and light. The cucumber gimlet was one of the better ones I've had. The best drink of the evening was definitely Upstate - it was like fall in a cup and absolutely delicious! The food was incredible too - the kale salad was so tasty and had such a great dressing, just a hint of onion without actually biting into any, and the toasted hazelnuts added the perfect crunch. The burger was great too - juicy, cooked perfectly well and the sauce was so good. Overall, loved everything we got here and the staff is super friendly too. Looking forward to going back and trying all the other things on the menu!
Really great social setting. It was crazy packed on a Friday but an ideal spot to meet a lot of cool people
Recommended by another neighborhood bartender. Couldn't have found a more perfect place to spend a few hours in the afternoon. Devon was fantastic behind the bar. Made us feel like we were at our home bar in Hartford. Will definitely be back the next time we're in the city.
This place simply works for me better than others. The amount is generous, the cooking is professional, and taste is excellent. The personnel was exceptional. I keep coming back here week after week. This spot will win you over!
Wilfie & Nell offered an enchanting atmosphere! Their attention to ingredient selection shows. The ambiance adds significant value here. The moment of our arrival, every employee showed exceptional friendliness. This restaurant has countless strong points.
My all time favorite bar in the city. Best time to go there on Sunday night. Less crowded. World class bar to be honest.
Fantastic bar in a pretty fun area, it's near NYU so expect a younger vibe. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for some good beers, and a cozy atmosphere by which to hang with your friends or meet new people. Met a couple new people here, and it was a blast! Prices are fair on the beers!
Fun small spot with a good cocktail selection in the West Village. I tried the Firm Handshake, Cucumber Gimlet, hot spiked cider, and orange gold. I would not recommend the hot spiked cider because it wasn’t that balanced but everything else was delicious depending on your liquor of preference. The orange gold was pleasant-better than expected and very smooth but not too sweet. People liked the winter chill, which is very mezcal forward. There is Macallan 10 and 12 here but not 15. The crowd skews younger.
The food is really good accompanied by great service. The scotch eggs are amazing and so is their mustard sauce. You come to know from your first bite that everything is fresh since all the produce is obtained from local market. The sliders, sandwiches and burger shouldn't be given a miss.
Been a dozen times. Cool, Soho in the Village vibe. Good bartenders. Attracts an odd mix of late 20's well off singles, their married friends, and successful young business Gods in their mid thirties who never married or pretend they never did. Then sprinkle in a few wealthy young Russians (of the cooler variety) and a few female Chinese ne'er do Wells. One thing is consistent, the conversation is great if you come in alone. It's the kind of place you go to as "your first stop" and end up staying all night.
Good drinks, cool scene. A go to place when grabbing a drink with a friend to catch up (during the week, the weekend can be too crowded). Very cute atmosphere, and the food is good. Get the split pea soup.
Cool interior. Decent beer selection. Good bar food. Artichoke dip is delicious. Would be a good spot for a early date or for a group.
This Bar has a really fantastic vibe. Yes it gets crowded and yes it's packed, but if you are committed you can find a nice corner to sit down in and enjoy the atmosphere, do it. Just find yourself a stool and don't sit in a wait-listed area because you will get kicked out.
Rumors of this pub being over-crowded may be true, but it is surprisingly easy to swipe a couple seats at a group table. Once you secure seating, the wait staff will have you covered from start to finish. Be mindful though, there is a $20 minimum on cards.
Went here on a Wednesday night to get drinks. Fun and nice hole in the wall bar. Almost tried everything on the cocktail list and it was all super good and has the right kick of flavor. Definitely a good place for a casual drink.
Two Canadians first day ever in New York. Found this gem by walking by and it was packed. We wanted to sit cause we've been walking / biking all day. Shared a table with 4 friendly NYers and had a blast getting to know them. Good beer, great ambiance, excellent service.
I really like this bar - I usually go on Thursdays, it has a good crowd. The bar has a good selection of beers available and the food is very good. I really like this place and I would recommend for anyone looking for a nice bar in the region
Chimay on tap is definitely one of the highlights. Great lighting and decor, but the overall atmosphere swings widely depending on the crowd. It can get packed with non-locals looking for a pick-up, but when it's not in that state it is a good experience overall.
Intimate and small. Not good for larger groups, but the vibe and atmosphere is great. Came here on a Saturday night and the music is vibing. Recommended if you're in the area- but it will get super crowded, and LOUD.
I went here for a pre-birthday brunch with two of my best friends and it was great. I love the ambiance of the restaurant: the front door is so inconspicuous and the dark hallway leads to a beautiful dining area with a high ceiling and lots of light (if the sun decides to come out the day that you're there). The food itself is delicious and pretty unique, so it's not really good for those who prefer a traditional breakfast. The serving size is enough to fill you up because the ingredients are rich, but they'll disappoint anyone looking for huge, "American" portions.
Always a fun, albeit crowded atmosphere, with some of the most attractive young patrons you'll see at any bar. Prices are reasonable, especially given the decent beer list and higher-end spirits. Definitely a chic spot, and the food is good too.
Very hip bar in the west village. Lots of after work folks grabbing drinks as well as people on dates and friends meeting up for drinks. The place is crowded, but in an intimate fun way. Good mixed drinks. A cool private room in the back that is half open to the rest of the bar, but is a little quieter of you have a group of friends.
In love with this bar if only for the atmosphere. Very cozy and perfect for a happy hour experience. The food, drinks, and service are decent but nothing to write home about.
They have pretty good drink options and the bartenders are attentive. It gets a little loud when crowded, even though it's a relatively small space, mostly because of the old brick walls. The exposed brick is a nice touch, so I guess you have to take your pick. They have a good variety of drinks, and the prices are standard NY prices. Not a lot of seating, if you want to sit down, though.
Had a fantastic brunch here a few days ago. New twist on breakfast and very creative. My friend swore by it and now I know why. Very country like atmosphere and the menu has good options. I will definitely eat here again.
Great place for drinks with friends. Cozy and intimate; decorated like a charming farmhouse. Spicy margaritas are fab. Beer list is nothing special. The small space is very popular and crowded; go early or prepare to spend hours standing in the masses.
I'm certainly a fan of this place. Trendy and casual. Good place to meet up with people and get drinks after work. Good prices and I love their beer selection. Looking forward to going back. Also, very clean bath rooms!
Quality bar in the village, great custom cocktails and good service. The ambiance was the winner here. Dim lights, great music and a rustic feel made you feel like you stepped out of NYC for a little. Cool experience
Charcuterie board was amazing. Fries were alright. Drinks were good. Waitress was nice but pushed back a LOT when we asked to split the bill. Every time I come here, the bar is wayyyy too hot. I always have to leave after 30-45min.
I highly recommend the chicken sandwich. 10/10. Drinks were also good. A friend got a glass of wine and it came out in an odd cup but still tasted good. Went on a Friday night so our server was all over the place. Gets very loud past 9pm
I came here for a solo lunch during the late afternoon on a Sunday. Seating was super easy. I began at the bar but moved to a table with “people-watching” views. My server was very attentive to my needs and came back to check in often. I didn’t order a drink but the Brussel sprouts and burger are meals I’d definitely order again.
Feels cozy and British, good for post-work happy hour if you go earlier and grab table space, otherwise it’s pretty crowded and loud. Burger is fantastic and whiskey list is decent.
Amazing atmosphere, great service! But the Garlic sausage was slices of cold meat. Not what i was expecting at all from a pub.
Love the location of this bar, right in the center of west village. But the service was so so - seems to have strict rules about where stools should be placed. Also super loud bar where we were all screaming to “chat.” Throat hurts after staying there’s for 3 hours...
I only went there for about 45 minutes to meet friends and didn't have time for a drink. However, the place was very crowded, standing room only. Which is a good thing for a bar on Friday night. I'll have to return again to give it a proper full inspection.
Waited in line for 10 minutes to be let into an overly crowded bar where you couldn’t even hear the music. All you could hear was noise from people yelling and talking and it was so crowded that you could barely move or order a drink. Not sure why anyone would wait to get into a bar like this. I had a past experience here that was fun, but earlier in the night. Avoid during prime hours as it loses all charm
Lively bar with nice cocktails and beers. I don't think you need a guy ordering people where to stand to use the bathrooms. I had a problem in that the waitress rudely asked me to give way, I moved and because I moved in the direction that she didn't want, she ended up calling security, attesting to her rudeness that she couldn't handle it politely, but bossed people around
Updated 12/29/25: The fries are good. The drinks were fine. I like that they have bag hooks. It was a lively crowd when we came on a Monday evening around 5:30pm. The bartender was rude. I’ve been twice now and not been impressed with the service whatsoever. At one point, I said excuse me, kindly, to get the bartender Derek’s attention, and he literally stuck his finger out to tell me to hold on and said “I’m busy.” With an attitude. It really annoyed me and felt super dismissive. I understand being busy and stressed but there was no reason to take that out on me. He could have handled it differently. First review: Slightly uncomfortable seating, nice waitress last night around 5pm, the bartenders aren’t particularly friendly or hospitable, as in, they barely said hello to me when I sat down and hardly looked at me when we placed our order. Not rude, but definitely room for improvement. The food and drinks were fine and the atmosphere is lively. Cute place for sure.
Food was very bland, lamb stew lacked salt. Service was bad, though someone at the end tried to provide some level of decent service. Beer was good.
The asian server/manager is extremely rude to talk to
We went on a Friday night around 12am. The place was a vibe but the waitress was one of the worst disasters I’ve ever seen. She was so intoxicated while serving us. She spilled 2 drinks all over me and did not apologize at all. Instead she stated “you won’t pay for the drink” “you want another one?” And “it’s coming. Extremely rude. She proceeded to yell at my other friends around the table, having no manners at all. I went to one of the managers and told him the deal and she came up got upset with him and me and left. The other manager did manage to comp me some of the drinks but this girl should be absolutely fired as it is a problem when you can get that wasted at your job.
Been workin in the food industry for a long time, found the bar’s vibe cozy and sweet. Just, the service was pretty lame. Came for a friends birthday, and our server was giving off some strong vibes of annoyance and aggravation, not sure why. We were sober and, from my end, happy to be there. Def made me uncomfortable. Left pretty soon after due to the strange interaction.
I really enjoyed the food, but I feel like I need to share this because this situation could’ve been extremely bad for someone else. I ordered one of the zero proof drinks as I was not drinking alcohol that night. I received the drink and noticed it had a bit of a burn to it, but assumed it was due to being a spicy drink. As the evening went on I realized, after it was too late, that they had served me a drink with alcohol in it. While I was not drinking that night for no other reason than just not wanting to, if someone orders an alcohol free drink, it is so important that it is listened to and respected. For someone else with a medicinal condition or someone who was actively sober, this incident could’ve had much more serious consequences. All this to say, if you order an alcohol free drink here, DOUBLE CHECK wirh your server when they bring it to you that they actually listened.
Late night bro culture is untenable- just one example was a drunk kid knocking on the bathroom door telling my gf to hurry up when she just got in there. These sheltered kiddos need to get the boot for harassing your customers.
Good beer but the worst food. Burnt fries, and foul tasting dishes like they came out of a low cost freezer isle. So many better options out there. Shame as beer, atmosphere and service were food.
Incredibly rude staff. We went with a group of friends and one of the male staff shoved one of the girls in our group and the female server was very rude. An awful experience and we will definitely never come back.
I have been a West Village resident for 24 years and I am truly disappointed and pretty offended by the service I received at Wilfie and Nell tonight. The bar tends to get a bit crowded and there are large vases at the end of the bar. I attempted to move the plant out of my face so that the bartender could see my face and I could order a drink. As I proceeded to move the plant away, the bartender came over to me - proceeded to move the plant even closer to my face, and refused to take my drink order. This was offensive, as I thought he was coming to take my drink order. I have been a resident of the West Village for quite some time and have never received such offensive service in the neighborhood in my life. After the bartender walked away and did not serve myself and my friend - we decided to leave. I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service tonight and will definitely not be coming back due to the service I received. Go somewhere else where plants are not shoved in your face and your money is welcome.
Our group had a terrible experience with the staff. Extremely rude server screaming and swearing at us and separately an incident with a male security guard being disrespectful to women in our group.
I’ve been to this establishment many times but this time was different. I was on line for the restroom with a friend and we got screamed at by a server that there’s a “one person to a bathroom rule” and my girlfriend couldn’t accompany me. While she’s waiting on line to use the other restroom because she wasn’t able to use the restroom with me a server cut the line and said because she was in her shift she needed to use the restroom more urgently than her. After I exited the bathroom the server came up to me and asked if “I had a problem with her” because she heard that my friend didn’t understand why she couldn’t accompany me in the bathroom. Overall it was a very strange and hostile experience. I’m not sure if they changed staff but this will deter me from ever returning given how rude and hostile the servers were. To be clear they were not bartenders, strictly server staff on the floor.
Although this bar has cozy decor and can be fun on some nights, the other reviews should be heeded when it comes to service and how busy it gets. This bar is enjoying its popularity a little too much right now and this is reflected in the attitudes of the staff. If you're looking for your local hangout, keep looking.
Asian bar tender horrible service - fire her!!!!!! Wednesday 21st May 2025 12:21am. Bar tender and Mani (door man) were absolutely fantastic. Such a shame the table server was so unprofessional and rude.
The bathroom security absolutely lost his shit when we were just trying to protect my friend who was a little too intoxicated. He wouldn’t let us stay with her when she went to the bathroom and then got aggressive and started a bar fight. Tall man with dreads who cannot control his temper. We were literally just trying to make sure she was ok. And he lost it on us.
A stomach churning experience. This may be the origin of my villain story of food reviews. Wilfie & Nell is a wonderfully aesthetic example of a West Village Bar nook. The atmosphere is lively but casual. However, the food and service are lack luster. My server seemed like they carried the air of just trying to do their job and go home. Beyond their blasé demeanor, they performed exactly that (which was the only thing that carried my gratuity). Oh! But the horror of the food! I ordered the pimento cheese dip that comes with potato chips and also an order of Wilfie & Nell’s spicy buffalo wings. It was my own fault that I imagined the pimento cheese dip to come served as a hot, gooey plate of cheesy goodness instead of the ice cream scooped, lump of port wine that looked like it was gathered from a tub that I received. As I forced myself to be okay with that, the seemingly homemade potato chips were cold as though they were stored away all day and extremely greasy. The cheese lacked flavor and it all left an unpleasant feel in my hungry belly. The absolute worst part was the wings. As I received my plate, I grew hopeful and excited. A heap of wings, tossed in hot sauce, covered in bleu cheese crumbles, and served with a side of ranch sauce and celery sticks. “What could go wrong?”, I thought. Until I ate them and all my happiness was shot out of the sky. I thought, “Just because the first wing was tough, I should give another one a chance.” Lo and behold my happiness plane crashed. As it turns out, the wings are pre-cooked in prep and then reheated upon order. So you get tough, old tasting chicken that doesn’t retain its heat, moistness or quality if they were cooked to order. Absolutely disgusting! My stomach is still bubbling, but at least the beer was good. I recommend you learn from my experience and don’t bother. There are far better places to dine in the West Village for a comparable price point. First and last time I’ll ever give them my patronage.
Never in my life have I encountered such a disrespectful waitress. TABITHA is one of the rudest hospitality workers I’ve ever come across. She’s clearly is only working for herself and not the establishment. We had a drink from the bar and she refused to seat us after saying the bar had 2 different revenue streams. If I was the manager at this establishment I would never allow an employee to speak the way she was as well as deny service so she can make tips only for herself. If I was Tabitha’s boss she would be out the door in a second. Why would anyone want to give her money..do better with staffing. Please refer to all the other negative reviews with this establishment as it seems everyone is talking about the same server!
Overall nice place and decent food and drinks but one of the rudest servers I’ve ever witnessed in my life. Spoke so condescendingly to one person at the table for nibbling on a snack they had. Immediately killed the vibe and desire to order more.
had an extremely disappointing experience at this bar. Despite leaving a generous tip at the beginning of the night to cover myself and five guests, I was approached by the manager not once, but twice, and told I needed to leave due to “not tipping enough.” She even pulled up the transaction list, clearly unaware of the tip I had already provided. I was embarrassed in front of my group and made to feel completely unwelcome for no valid reason. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially after supporting the establishment generously. I’ll be pursuing this further and strongly encourage others to think twice before giving this place their business
Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Went to the bar to order water and said excuse me 5 times to a group of men just to order and they told me I didn’t need them to move to order and then proceeded to order my drink for me. I got upset and told them I did not need strange men to order my drinks for me. The bartender saw this interaction and said me he poured the water for me after passing it to the guys who would not let me pass. If a lady is telling you she’s uncomfortable about her drink why are you as a bartender not acknowledging that. Especially after seeing that they were not letting ME order. Terrible crowd, terrible service. Also adding, do not go here if you’re a person of color. This spot is NOT it. The west village is generally racially charged but it seems all the racist are concentrated in this bar
Horrible experience and extremely rude waiters. They’ve been saying things like “I don’t care” to my boyfriend and my friend when they got the order wrong. Called us tacky after getting the order wrong themselves. After still tipping the waiter 10%, she said “never come back again”. Oh, also apparently they don’t have a manager either.
If you’re a person of color, please refrain from going to this establishment. Not only was there not one person of color in sight besides my friend and I and the bouncer, but you felt the animosity with crowd and staff including the bartender. We were treated with no respect after the bartender saw us being talked to wrongfully by 2 white males, then a group of white women got in our faces and made us seem problematic over a simple “excuse me”. I felt uncomfortable and wouldn’t recommend it at all!
I ordered a gin & tonic, and had many of my friends try it and it was definitely not tonic water, we believe it was club soda. Told the bartender and he said the tonic is working fine used a straw and thumb to take not even a sip and said it’s tonic water… super rude interaction As a gin and tonic lover, this was not tonic water and if it was that is really suspicious because it must be cheap. Did not drink the drink and left. Will not come back
