Celebrated our 12 year anniversary here. We tried the 7 course chefs tasting and it was certainly an experience I will never forget. The ambiance is very romantic, candle lighting, fresh roses, and live piano. The customer service is top notch. The cocktails were exquisite. A nice touch was when the waiter presented us with a happy anniversary dish. I would certainly recommend for very special occasions.
This place is absolutely out of this world, the most magical romantic vibes. We had the tasting menu and every single course was beautifully flavored and presented. The courses were not rushed as they can be at other establishments so you really got to thoroughly enjoy each dish. It’s pricey but not as expensive as other tasting menus out there. The star of the show is the beef Wellington, it was absolute perfection. They also gave me a free dessert with a candle for my birthday, cute!
Such a romantic spot! I love the real candle light. We did the Chef's tasting menu and wine pairing which was delicious. You will not leave hungry! I loved the scallops. Perfect for a date night, anniversary or birthday celebration.
I found out about this restaurant in the weirdest way ever. I am a paranormal enthusiast, and I was on YouTube watching one of those 'Top 10 haunted whatever in NYC'. Well, this kept showing up as a nice and beautiful place, but they say that women who sit at the bar usually get their earrings taken off. Anyways, I'm not here to leave a paranormal review. I'm here because this place was amazing! I went with my 16-year-old daughter, and we fell in love! We had the pre-fixed meal. Everything was perfect, the food, the atmosphere, our waiter, the music, the piano, the host. I had the beef wellington and my daughter had lamb I believe. I don't remember any of the dishes, but I included the photos in case anyone would like to see them! I will return again one day, hopefully one a day with my future husband.
One If by Land, Two If by Sea was absolutely spectacular. Walking in felt like stepping into a storybook—the soaring ceilings, glowing chandeliers, and beautiful holiday décor created the most magical atmosphere. The food was outstanding from start to finish. The escargot was perfectly prepared, the Beef Wellington was exceptional, the French onion consommé was rich and comforting, and the chocolate soufflé was the perfect ending. Every dish felt special. They offer both a three-course prix fixe and a seven-course tasting menu, which makes the experience feel even more elevated. Yes, it’s expensive—but absolutely worth it for a special occasion or a truly memorable night out. The pianist sat right in front of us and played so gently it felt like the music was floating in the background—elegant, intimate, and unforgettable. The service was impeccable, the cocktails were just as wonderful as the food, and the entire evening felt incredibly romantic. A truly unforgettable dining experience and easily one of the most romantic restaurants in New York.
I booked this for our 10 year anniversary, talk about romantic, candle light dinner. The staff was right there for every move, cleaning up, taking dishes. We did the 3 course meal choice 😋 👌 😉 French soup, salmon, chocolate Thise were my 3 along with an "Oldest Fashioned" Every course we had was simply delicious. A lot of care goes into plating the dish and the presentation when serving it This is a 5 Star experience with a 5 Star price...worth every penny
We experienced a lot of “bests” at this restaurant. Best focaccia bread, best cauliflower steak, best consommé, and one of the best tiramisus we’d ever had. Despite the food being delicious, and the candle lighting and live piano creating a unique and immersive experience, our favorite part of that night was arguably the service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and lighthearted, and was the bow that tied together a really special and memorable night for us.
I had the pleasure of taking my wife here for our anniversary, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. From the moment I made the reservations, the staff graciously accommodated all my requests. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted at the door and assisted with our coats, setting the perfect tone. The atmosphere was enchanting, and the chef’s curated courses were nothing short of amazing, with outstanding food selections. The customer service (our waiter Albert was great) and hospitality were impeccable throughout. No complaints whatsoever—just pure delight for the evening. If you’re planning on visiting there’s a parking lot right across the street
My husband celebrated my birthday at One if by Land, Two if by Sea, and it felt like discovering a secret tucked away in the heart of New York. The location itself is so mysterious — hidden down a quiet cobblestone street, behind a beautiful old facade that feels like a portal to another world. Inside, the candlelight, soft piano music, and garden views created a setting that was intimate, elegant, and absolutely timeless. We were seated at the perfect corner table near the piano bar. To my left, a beautiful garden view framed the evening with even more charm. It felt so private and romantic — as if the city had disappeared for a night, just for us. The food was exquisite. Every dish was gorgeous and full of flavor. The Beef Wellington was divine — truly one of the best we’ve ever had. And the champagne? Effortlessly luxurious and so celebratory. The service was flawless, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. They made my birthday feel incredibly special, with every detail handled with care. A magical evening in a place that feels hidden, timeless, and full of love. Truly one of the most romantic dining experiences in the city — or anywhere🤍🤍🤍
Such an incredible evening at an incredible restaurant! The staff, atmosphere, food, wine and cocktails are all perfection. Our waiter Michael was so kind and attentive to us. He even went above and beyond to give us a little tour of some of the other spaces in the venue. Kirk was so knowledgeable with the wine pairing which made the whole experience extra special and Nicky was delivering the best bread we’ve ever had with a smile on his face. We felt so welcomed and warm at this restaurant. Absolutely recommend. We can’t wait to go back!!
If I could give 10 stars I would happily do so. The restaurant it’s top notch. They have a beautiful bar area with seating for dining if you like. The restaurant lighting is perfect to set a romantic mood with a pianist playing entertaining music. We are from their price fixe menu and it was an excellent meal. For starters we had the Foie Gras and the tempura squash blossom. The tempura squash blossom was stuffed with lobster and crab meat. It was so good. For our entrees I had the beef Wellington and my girlfriend had the duck. Both were cooked perfectly and the playing was perfect. An excellent meal. To end our dinner the dessert course cosiste of cremé brûlée, and tiramisu. The tiramisu was served in a way I have never had it before. It was covered by a chocolate top and the filling was so velvety smooth. So Good!!! The waiter was excellent, offering suggestions and well versed with the menu. They took care of all our dining needs. We highly recommend this place.
We celebrated our anniversary here and I'm so glad we did! This restaurant is super romantic and is a perfect location to celebrate a special occasion. We enjoyed both the service, as well as the food and drinks! The have beautiful roses and candles set at every table - really helps with the romantic mood. Price-wise it was also not over the top expensive, and in my opinion quite worth the experience. For reservation, make sure to book at least a month in advance and request to sit by the windows if possible. Do mention what special occasion you are celebrating! Food wise - I especially liked the Beef Wellington - the beef on the inside was tender while the outside crust was flaky to create that contrast texture. The mushrooms in between was super flavorful and created a really nice in-between layer. I honestly thought it tasted better than the Beef Wellington I had in Gordon Ramsey's Atlantic City steakhouse. My second favorite was the seared foie gras - super tender and given it was served warm, takes away the stickiness in the texture and adds aroma. The Seared Maine Scallops were also pretty good, although pretty typical, and the Lobster risotto was a tad too sticky. For dessert - I loved loved the Raspberry Napoleon!! It was many layers to the right flaky texture, and fruity and sweet to perfection. The chocolate mousse was also very good, just nothing too out of the world for chocolate lovers. Drink wise - We ordered a cabernet sauvignon to to add to the celebration atmosphere, and it also went well with the food. Overall I triple recommend this place for celebrating anniversaries and birthdays, will try to bring my parents here for a future night!
One if by Land, Two if by Sea has a classy menu, a great history, and beautiful decor that makes it very romantic. I took my girlfriend there for our 3 year anniversary. The restaurant was gorgeous and the decor was perfect for those special photos. The dim lighting created a perfeambiance. The food was incredible. The food wine room upstairs is extraordinary. The only minor issue I encountered was with how small the menu was, at best you will feel satisfied after eating meal. I didn’t care because the food I ate was delightful.” The dessert was special. This is definitely a place you will want to experience.
Now I understand why they call it the most romantic restaurant in NY! We celebrated our anniversary here and it was better than I expected. I can’t say I was blown away with the food, but doesn’t even matter. It was good and the menu was very different and creative. But the atmosphere, the ambiance, the way they host you… Our server was wonderful, pleasant and friendly. The same was for the busboys and food runners. They also let us take our time with our meals, let us enjoy our night and our conversation, which I appreciate very much. For the end they brought us a dessert saying “happy anniversary” which really put smile on our faces. Highly recommended!
Probably the most romantic restaurant we have been to in NYC. Recommend asking for the window seats overlooking the garden - so pretty. The food was good - we went for the 3 course fixed menu ($165 each) but the beef wellington was so large. Felt like we were paying for such a unnecessary portion that we ended up leaving half which felt so wasteful. We weren't coming away raving about the food and as everywhere in NYC it was expensive. You are more paying for the vibes and how romantic it is. There is live music which really added to the ambience. The service was good but felt over the top with multiple servers per table.
SUPER OVERPRICED! I overall like the restaurant! Dim lighting, piano, tables are so nice. Price is super high though! They force you to order 3 course meal which is 160$ for each person and at the end of the night we ended up paying 500 dollars for 2 people. I think it’s way too much for the food, service and experience we’ve received. It’s super overpriced. And our waiter smelled stinky.. he definitely needed a shower..unfortunately.
This restaurant is a huge rip off. Please do not waste your time and money here. There are far better and far nicer restaurants at this price point in NYC. The food is not good. The service is terrible and the ambiance is just nice but a tad cheesy. For NYE, they charged a $195/person. I got a very small piece of bread, dry and kinda gross steak tartare, an over cooked rack of lamb (even though it was supposed to be rare) and a small, bland chocolate soufflé. Everything was sub par. The staff didn’t seem to care. When we arrived, it took them 15 mins to seat us with no explanation and the maitre d’ was rude and unpleasant.
I was Very excited to try this place me and my friend but unfortunately food was nothing to remember we made reservations for tow people in the NYE they said we only have prefix menu not the regular menu then we said okay there is no other choice its NYE and it’s 8:30 pm we order the Dover sole and the beef Wellington and the beef tartare and octopus for appetizers beef tartare was okay the meat was ground instead of being diced ,the octopus was horrible over cooked and over charred almost you feel like there’s no meat no texture at all ,then the main course ,the Dover sole don’t test fresh it tested frozen and I asked the server if it fresh because a lot of places use frozen one his response was yes super fresh then we ordered beef Wellington MR it comes medium well we decided to eat it because we were so hungry and have to go, the we dessert chocolate soufflé was horrible and soured ,then we had the vanilla ice cream was rally good ,after that we asked the server bring the check it’s was almost $600 for horrible experience it’s was first time to go there but never going there again we were so excited about that place to try but the food but unfortunately was nothing special very disappointed about the food and the service as well sever never asked about the food they just bring it to the table and disappeared
COCKROACHES!!!!! We had the unfortunate experience of dining at One By Land, Two by Sea for our Christmas lunch, and I must express my profound disappointment. As a restaurant in New York State, it is imperative to uphold hygiene standards, and I was appalled by the conditions we encountered. Firstly, despite informing the staff we were three adults and needed a high chair, they couldn’t be less accommodating and seated us upstairs in the furthest corner of the restaurant, away from the ambiance. We couldn’t hear the music, see the holiday tree, or feel any festive spirit. We felt isolated and abandoned. Next, I ordered the steak, which unfortunately was so fatty that I couldn't eat it. Given the $25 supplement, this was deeply disappointing. While our server did notice my uneaten meal and offered a complimentary glass of bubbles as an apology—a nice gesture—I was still left hungry and resented paying the supplement. However, The most shocking part of our meal was discovering a cockroach crawling underneath our table. This was particularly concerning as we had our newborn in a bassinet on the floor nearby. Finding a cockroach in a restaurant is not just unacceptable; it’s a serious issue that raises significant hygiene concerns, regardless of it being ‘an old building’ and a NY health code violation. As we were leaving our newborn was crying and we were trying to get the stroller unfolded in their extremely overcrowded entrance/bar area. Imagine my horror to see the manager rolling his eyes at our party. I politely pointed out that if I could tolerate the presence of a cockroach dining with us he could certainly accommodate our stroller and crying baby for a few moments. Instead of an apology or understanding, we were met with rudeness and abruptness. He shrugged off our concerns, stating it’s an old building where such issues can happen even though they do weekly pest control. This is not an acceptable excuse for failure to maintain proper cleanliness and ignore the health code violation. Overall, our experience at One By Land, Two by Sea was utterly disappointing and unacceptable. $857 to be treated like diseased patrons when the disease lurks in the critters present in the establishment. We will be reporting them.
Christmas Eve dinner here was nothing short of a mess. The restaurant clearly took more reservations than they could handle, leaving us waiting well over an hour past our reservation—only to be spoken to rudely when we asked about seating. We were offered a sad, tucked-away corner “secluded” room like it was doing us a favor. After refusing, we were seated another 30 minutes later. Total wait time? About an hour and a half. Then came the food. For $195 per person, you’d expect something memorable. Instead, we got a bland, forgettable three-course meal and even after offering to pay more for additional appetizers, we were still told no. For the price point and pretentiousness of the experience, this restaurant delivered nothing but frustration. Save your money, save your time, and absolutely do better than this place.
Unfortunately, this was the worst Christmas Eve dining experience I’ve ever had. Despite having a reservation, we waited over an hour to be seated. When we were finally brought to our table, it was a poorly placed seat—after specifically requesting a window table in advance. At that point, expectations were already low. The prix fixe menu was extremely underwhelming and wildly overpriced for what can only be described as mediocre food. Limiting guests to one appetizer felt especially unreasonable given the extended wait. When we asked to order an additional appetizer at an extra cost, both the chef and manager refused—an unbelievable stance for a supposedly hospitality-driven establishment, particularly when guests are willing to pay. Overall, the experience felt rigid, inhospitable, and dismissive. This was our first visit, and very clearly our last. Beyond not worth it , move on and turn away.
Came here to celebrate our anniversary and left very disappointed. I clearly noted the occasion on the reservation and mentioned it again to the hostess, yet we were seated at a tiny table packed next to others—the least romantic spot possible. When I politely asked to move to a more secluded or window table, the hostess was rude and dismissive. She refused to let us see an upstairs table and claimed a window table was reserved for a large group, only to seat another couple there minutes later. The attitude alone ruined the experience. The food did not justify the price—the lamb was very dry and lacked care. Our waiter, however, was excellent and professional. A hostess can make or break the experience. Unfortunately, this one broke it.
