Opinions de amano cafe New York
Excited to see GF + DF items!🤗 Macadamia nut milk is super yummy :) Pricey latte, but typical for West Village.
Love the name and the vibe. The pastries were decent, and the cortado with almond milk was surprisingly good.
This is the first place I visited in NYC and it definitely set a good tone for my trip. The staff were friendly, the coffee was great, and the vibes of the shop were very comfy. Offers a nice view of the neighborhood. The ability to charge my phone was a plus as well! I definitely recommend anyone in the West Village to stop by.
Kind service, quiet and aesthetic place to go get work done and grab a coffee! Serval places to sit. I had the rocket fuel coffee and I highly recommend to those that like a strong bold coffee! It’s creamy and bold, PERFECT! 👌🏼 I also had their plain croissant and it was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside = perfect. I will be back!
Amano is worth the visit for three reasons. The first, its impeccable location. Just steps from west fourth and in the heart of the Village, the cast of characters is never short of show stopping and the conversations are enlightening to say the least. The second— bangin’ coffee. But thirdly, and most importantly, the staff. What a homey and welcoming atmosphere, where you can come and kiki with the best of them. Some are charming and chill, topped with baseball caps and ready with an easy laugh. And others, especially the dark haired, iconic, gothic gift of a girl that works weekdays, weekends and probably leap days, is the life of the party and heart of the shop. I can’t tell you how many people she makes laugh when she hands them their coffee with a compliment (when deserved). I know more than one happy customer who comes in just for her and her baseball-capped coworker, myself included. The only strange thing— she’s obsessed with Lena Dunham. Apparently she even has a fan page! But I can’t begrudge her a popular preference. A local New Yorker like her can always find the best in a person— and make the best of a coffee shop.
Very cute and modern atmosphere! Amano cafe has been on my list of coffee shops to try. I went with their French vanilla latte. It was amazing! On the sweeter side but I always prefer sweeter drinks. You can tell the employees take their time making the drinks and don’t rush the process. There’s some seating inside and outside, but it is small so there may be a chance all tables are taken. Overall good coffee and good atmosphere!
To say that Amano Cafe is a great coffee shop would be an understatement. With what must’ve been first-timer’s luck, all credit card terminals in the block suddenly stopped working. I didn’t have enough cash to pay for the coffee I just ordered. Someone at the counter noticed me scrambling to count what few coins I had and suddenly stopped me to say whatever I had was good - they’d take it and still make me a great cup of coffee nonetheless. It turns out that it was the owner, Ken, who offered to do so. Even when the terminals went back online, he politely refused any sort of additional payment. As a first timer in NYC, I’ve heard more bad things than good about this city. I think it’s important to mention these little good moments as well. The City has all its famous landmarks and sights, but it’s the people that make this place truly what it is. Of course as other reviewers have said, the coffee was really good. Make sure to give this place a visit! Pardon the long review; made this on my own to show appreciation.
My favorite coffee shop yet. The rocket fuel on tap is seriously the best coffee I’ve ever had. I don’t know how they do it but it’s the perfect fast with a little froth on top. They have loads of indoor and outdoor seating so it’s a great place to work. The staff is super friendly and they okay great tunes. I’ve don’t some serious damage on the rewards system they have lol.
Great specialty coffee / espresso program and incredible people watching corner in the west village! I had a blast by myself one morning spending time enjoying the weather and reading a book feeling like a local to NYC. They also have a stunning selection of pastries that are healthy and quick. Don't tell the tourists about this spot! ;)
You won’t believe how amazing the croissants are here! They’re so buttery and flaky—just perfect. I also gave their vegan muffin a try, and I was really impressed; it was incredibly moist and tasty! Every time I visit, the pastry case is packed with tempting treats that all look so high-quality. Can't wait to go back!
I was visiting from out of state and only needed four things: good coffee, wifi, a power outlet, and a bathroom. Three out of four isn’t bad—no bathroom. After popping in and out of a couple of other pretty busy coffee shops around Washington Square, I was glad to find Amano. It’s a nice, low-key spot with plenty of seating that gave me a great start to my first day in NYC.
*Visit on May 14th, 2024* First time trying Amano’s at Greenwich Village! I have been meaning to pass by before the end of the academic year. As a student in the neighborhood, this coffee shop has been peaking my curiosity. I was aware coming in that the prices of the coffee shop were higher than other coffee shops in the neighborhood. My ministry friends shared that they’d tried a pour over and the price was around $8. That being said, it’s important to be aware of the prices coming in to not be surprised. For a cappuccino, a Cortado, and a banana bread the total was around $19. (Not student budget friendly, but fine for a once in a while treat.) The cappuccino was great! I think they used Devocion beans, and the taste was great. The milk was steamed just right, and I genuinely enjoyed my cappuccino. 🤗 plus, it was obviously cute. (Pic below) The sis said the Cortado was fine as well. So for a once in a while treat, I enjoyed my time and food here. The banana bread would probably be where I found a bit of a shortcoming. It was decent but a bit dry. Lastly, enjoyed the porcelain mugs where the beverages were served at. 😌
Cafe on the way, on my Sunday coffee hour and I was glad the Amano Cafe was on the way. Coffee taste good with small potion and trendy customers. There are seats inside and the ambiance was good and warm welcome. Even the barista wasn't able to give me exactly what I want but he still give me a good coffee.
I visited Amano Café and ordered a matcha latte and an iced latte. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the matcha latte it didn’t taste very good, and the matcha itself seemed to be of low quality. I had asked for honey as a sweetener, but they gave me syrup instead, which was disappointing. They also had some gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free pastries, which initially caught my interest. However, the ingredients weren’t listed, so I politely asked what they were sweetened with since I try to avoid processed sugars. The barista, a man, seemed annoyed by the question and responded with attitude, saying they used coconut sugar. Overall, between the poor drink quality and the lack of courteous customer service, I don’t think I would return to this café
