Village Pub & Grill - Newcastle

On Sunday we visited the village for a friends wedding. The food was exceptional, seevice was quick and on point. The bar had a good range and service was quick, my husband was a big fan of Josh who was extremely polite and friendly (they had a lovely chat about the football) but all the bar staff were amazing also. We didn’t stay the night but the facilities looked lovely. All in all a great visit!

Nice hotel with great gym and pool, sauna and steam room. Rooms are good, people are friendly and helpful, bar grill is nice for a casual meal. I was impressed that they fulfilled my requirements that I stated on the comments section when booking, as so many hotels don't even seem to read this.

Popped in half term with kids for food, kids ate free which was a nice surprise, food was excellent and tasty. Extremely helpful and attentive staff!

Used hotel as a stopover on the way to Scotland. We stayed in a club room which had a few extra amenities than the standard room including Sky sports. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Bar area is nice and has lots of tv screens showing sport. The hotel has a very large swimming pool and a spa. I would definitely stay here again.

Had such a good time! Great, funny, friendly and very helpful staff. The room was absolutely lovely and well worth the money. Food was quality but it is abit on the expensive side if you’re planning on staying a while. The drinks and cocktails are well worth the money for the quality. Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going again!

Carpark was well kept. Up the steps to the main door/reception (never noticed if there was wheelchair access, sure there must be) the lovely lady on reception was a real hard worker, polite & couldn't do enough. (15/3/25) Rooms were lovely, clean & bed was just right. Popped down to the well stocked sports bar to wait for friends. Bar men were very friendly.Left my bag on the chair as I rushed off to my event... popped back, not expecting it to be there but the barman had noticed & put behind the bar.. all was there & intact ..yay! Jo was his name.. Stellar fella..thankyou Jo! (X) Breakfast was your usual spread.. all lovely ..fresh fruits, yoghurt, toast & cereal. Great staff, once again. Lastly, there's a full Gym & swimming pool which were immaculate & towels supplied. Swim clothes and equipment were all on sale.. Lastly.. what I did like..was if you fancy a bit of a razzle .. say Hen night or Birthday..they offer a reasonably priced 2 course meal, admittance into the disco/club.. all as long as you book a room. What a great place! No complaints from us -Thankyou so much!

The gym at the Newcastle Village Hotel is well-equipped, modern, and clean. It has everything you need, including some cutting-edge machines with built-in streaming options. The classes are also very good. Amber Hunt’s Box N Burn class is a good one to start with. She’s a good instructor who brings plenty of energy and encouragement, making each session enjoyable but still challenging. The class is great for all fitness levels, and Amber ensured everyone gets the most out of the workout.

Great hotel with fitness centre included in price. Full English breakfast also . Good quiet position away from busy streets. Popular with local fitness groups. Good value for money tbh

Very comfortable beds in spacious rooms. It offered a great amount of amenities such as a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and a gym as well as a restaurant in the dining area which offered a great buffet breakfast.

No hassle. Quick stop over with work. Service received overall was excellent. Arrived fairly late. Was greeted from a lovely young lady on reception who checked me in. Explained to me what was included fitness centre and times etc. Unfortunately didn’t have the time on this occasion. Also told me the bar was just about to close if I’d like a drink. Barman very nice also. Rooms not too bad. Some furniture a bit battered and bruised around the edges. More importantly the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Had an issue with trying to pay the parking when leaving. The machine in at the entrance wouldn’t take the payment and the nexus app you need to download was also useless. However called customer service when I arrived at work. The problem was handled very professionally and quickly with the agent. Well done village hotel. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoyed a two week stay at the Village Hotel Newcastle, my home city, I’ve been living away for almost two years. Nice building in a convenient location. Pros : Amazing staff from reception to housekeeping ( thats the Geordies for you ) Kath at breakfast, always on the ball keeping things running smoothly but still had time for a little chitchat with customers and the gorgeous Nina is a little ray of sunshine. Good breakfast selection. Rooms kept in good clean condition. Fantastic gym , i will be joining when i move back ! The pool looked great , however i didn’t use it during this stay. Ample easy parking. Cons : No fridge in the room (?) Don’t think there is a designated smoking area as there were always people smoking at the main / only entrance.

Our club room was very comfortable, but very warm even with the beater off and the windows opened. The breakfast was very nice, but stopping service at 9am weekdays is a little early when your having a break. Didn't use the gym/pool but as a former member at another location I know the facilities will be very good. Ideally located for the different places we wanted to travel to. Adequate car parking. Overall, very happy and will be staying here again.

Great Hotel. Rooms are spot on, no reason to complain about them. The bar has loads of screens and the fanzone area is brilliant. Great gym and pool. Food is expensive. Staff were 5* to be fair.

Went to a conference, it looked a little lively for my liking. Lots of amusement stuff and slot machines. I’m a little too old for that stuff.

Everything you'd expect from a Village hotel. Good service, food was great and the staff were really knowledgeable and helpful with our gluten free requirements. Only downside was the lack of plug sockets in the room - there were 3 of us and we had to unplug a lamp and the kettle in order to charge our mobiles overnight - first world problem I know but it just felt like the rooms were badly thought out especially for guests staying for work.

I always stay at this hotel because my office is located nearby. The only reason I stay here is for the gym as you get access to a gym sauna swimming pool and it’s a high-quality one as well, especially for a hotel. It has good parking. It’s a quick check in the rooms are a bit old and outdated and would benefit from some modernisation. I still think it’s a good hotel and often stay here a few times per year and will continue to do so.

Rooms are a little dated with no USB charging points. However, there are plenty of sockets. Overall, a reasonable hotel and the rooms are tidy.

It is in fact, a hotel, much like every other Village I have stayed at. Rooms felt slightly dated. Food was good. It was located well. No spiders.

Very pleasant stay at this hotel for the Jazz Party at the end of October. The room was pleasant, quiet and clean, the service was courteous, helpful and friendly, even when busy. Perhaps more staff at the busy bar in the evenings and a less confusing queuing system would help those trying to order drinks. Breakfasts are good, worth asking for poached or fried eggs if you want them; they will make them to order and bring to your table (scrambled eggs on offer but not freshly made to order and served at once so they are a bit solid) Special mention to Kath; experienced, eyes everywhere, making sure guests receive prompt and friendly, helpful service whenever she is on duty. She remembered our names and that we had visited before, too.

Very convoluted parking signs placed approximately 3m off the ground for some reason, with bizarrely complicated and wordy/unclear instructions... Basically it's free on weekends from 5pm Friday until 3pm on Sunday, no idea why they can't just start with that in a large font and let people read through the rest if outside of that timeframe???

Not terrible, but the restaurant isn't worth the money. Also not steak available 2 days in a row, how is that possible for a hotel restaurant? The week I stayed there the car charging wasn't working as well and I only booked this hotel due the charging facilities. The hotel is unbelievably busy due to the gym on site which doesn't bother me at all but my colleague was complaining about the noise in the car park early in the morning. To summarise, the rooms are good value for the money, staff at the bar were great (can't say the same for reception though), location is good and if you have a bit of time to enjoy the sauna or the swimming pool it is great 👍🏼

We stayed for two nights. The room was not serviced with towels unchanged even though we had the hanger on the handle requesting service. Only the bins were replaced. The gym and swimming pool facilities were very good.

Rooms a little dated on lower floor (first), extremely noisy until early hours of the morning due to the location of outside smoking area.

Accommodation and facilities are good. Staff are friendly and helpful. One negative is service at the bar is incredibly slow, there seems to be plenty of staff around but some of them seem to just wander around in a world of their own.

I recently stayed at the Village Hotel Newcastle Silverlink recently and, overall, it was just about average one of those places that’s great from far, but far from great once you’re actually there. The room was okay, nothing particularly impressive and nothing awful either pretty standard for what you’d expect. However, the toilet in the bathroom was visibly cracked, which made the whole experience of using it feel a bit… risky. Sitting there wondering if it was about to give way isn’t really the kind of thrill you want from a hotel stay. Aside from that, everything else was fine but forgettable. The facilities were usable, the room did the job, and there were no major issues, but nothing that made me think I’d rush back. Location wise, it’s in an industrial park surrounded by car showrooms, so having to pay for parking honestly feels like a crime. You’re not exactly in a city centre hotspot, so charging guests to park there just seems wrong. Overall, it wasn’t a bad stay, but it wasn’t anything special either. It’s the sort of place you stay, sleep, and move on from without much to say about it.

I woke up two weeks ago with right facial paralysis and uncontrollable ticks facial. I already live with BPD, ADHD and several other mental and pshyical conditions. My hearts broken at the moment and I booked a two night stay here to relax. My friend had to drive me here so stayed one night. He’s picking me up today to drive me home. It wasn’t clear on check in that pre paid for two breakfast booths days. My friend paid for his own breakfast because I thought I had purchased one. I asked nicely but my face is paralysised on one side so I can’t smile properly , about this at 8am on Sunday 24th August and the long haired lady at the desk was so rude to me. Telling me, it clearly states the breakfast was for two as the room was for two. I only saw the number one on placing my order. I have a week of further tests to discover what was going on, and rude service on what’s meant to be a relaxing weekend under doctors orders is not great. Treating ill and disabled customers like idiots is not precessional or kind. Making me cry at breakfast. The bar staff Friday night was amazing and so accommodating with my issues at the bar as I had a spasms flare up. It’s a shame the weekend has ended badly. Please train your staff to be kind. Some are fighting battles that bring them to the edge. This should be a sanctuary. I shouldn’t leave feeling bad about myself

We stayed for a night and requested a family room. We had a double with a poor quality sofa bed squeezed in. The room and bathroom was tired and dirty. The restaurant tables and chairs were dirty but the restaurant staff were nice. The pool was over crowded and half the pool had lanes and swimming lessons. We have stayed at Nottingham village hotel and had a much better experience.

Looking outside our window there was a condom wrapper lying. We were right above the entrance porch. Obviously people are probably having sex in the bed before you but you don't really want your nose rubbed in it 🤨 We had dinner in the food/ bar area. I had fish and chips, a whole new experience, never had a "quarter" of a tiny fish and chips served to me, guess I'll forever wonder where the other half went and for £18.50 what an absolute rip off! Oh and the young blond at reception was a right little jobs worth.

I cannot include every detail of what went wrong at our abysmal stay at this hotel, for want of time and word count, but the following overview should act as a word of warning for anyone considering booking here. Breakfast was chaotic. When asked if we had had breakfast here before, we replied no, and were then promptly abandoned at a table with no further explanation, which left me wondering what the point of asking the question was. Breakfast food was poor; anemic eggs, watery mushrooms, and burnt bacon, all eaten to the thud of music being played far too loud over the sound system. It was a bit like trying to eat your breakfast in a club in Benidorm. One day we were pointed to a table, got our breakfast from the buffet, then returned to find the utter lack of organisation meant someone else was at our table. Service at the bar was incredibly slow and inefficient. There is of course the odd good member of staff, but, on the whole, they were at best unhelpful and patronising, and at worst downright passive aggressive. The general attitude seems to be one of a complete lack of care. After the first night of no sleep due to loud music from the room above, I asked at reception if they could have a word. I was told the occupant was ‘with the jazz festival’. So was I, but nowhere on the itinerary was music played over a sound system in a hotel room in the small hours included. After the second night of no sleep due to music from the room above, I was eventually offered a new room, but only after being spoken to by the receptionist in a patronising and hostile manner, telling me this was the first they had heard of noise and that I had not in fact complained the day before. Seen as it was her who’d made the jazz festival comment, this was a bizarre lie. We were of course offered absolutely no assistance in moving all of our things up to the new room. In the first room, I had to ask for more coat hangers, as apparently 4 coat hangers for two adults staying for 4 nights was deemed to be enough. Clearly nobody had done the basic maths. The rooms are incredibly poor quality, so sparsely furnished that they echo, and there is very poor soundproofing for a relatively new hotel. The new room was supposedly a better quality room, however, the bedside table was so broken the side of it was hanging off, and the cover on both sides of the bathroom door handle was hanging off. (Photos attached). And the toilet did not flush! I would have thought it was standard practise to check a room, particularly when moving someone to it after a complaint, but clearly not. Reception is, as standard, unmanned. So your options are to stand around looking like a lemon waiting for someone, or desperately catch a non-reception member of staff and ask if they can find someone for you. The only possible use I can think of for this hotel is as a work experience trip for those studying hospitality, to learn exactly what not to do.

We booked for 3 nights! Very disappointed to see our room had scaffolding outside of the window with a standing platform which meant it could be looked into if any work was being carried out. Reception staff said there wasn't an option to move rooms and they didn't know if anyone was working on it! The windows didn't seem to lock properly and the toilet sounded like a boat taking off when flushed. Not great when you have a baby and child trying to sleep! In the morning the toilet blocked so we requested to move and receptionist asked us to do it straightaway (we were going for day out!) No offer to help us move. We had to move everything including the cot, it took a while, but thankfully the windows had locks on and there was no scaffolding and the toilet worked. (We could then finally go for a delayed day out) We realised that night we had left a phone charger and were told it wasn't there. Really disappointed with the service, it totally spoilt out holiday and was very stressful. The only good thing was Katie on breakfast service, she was lovely and went above and beyond for us. Thankyou Katie. Don't expect any help from reception they just look at you with a blank expression with no answers. We definitely will not be returning. Holiday? Definitely not. Stressful? Very. Disappointed? Very, couldn't wait to leave.

Sauna broken for 4 weeks and before that was closed every other day for weeks. Jacuzzi is cold and full of scum and the steam room is like a damp cupboard.

Checking in is way over the top at reception, when you're tired you just want to get in your room and freshen up, especially when you've done all the booking before online. The room was dull and depressing, also dirty (sofa all stained) and the rest of the room was dusty and not clean. We were staying there to go a friends birthday party being held there. The evening meal was just not apertising at all, very bland chicken with very little taste and mushy vegetables. Then came the so called disco after the meal, that was a complete joke a couple of flashing lights and a few crappy records, probably regects from a charity shop !! The next day I just couldn't wait to get home and have a bath (it was just one of those places where you leave feeling dirty instead of refreshed ) and forget about one of the worst party experiences you've ever had, ps. just before I sign off, the whole table layout was also a joke you couldn't get in or out to go to the loo or have a dance, just big long rows of tables and we were packed in like sardines !! ( It's not a patch on what the old rainbow rooms used to be like in town, those were brilliant party nights everyone enjoyed themselves and came out smiling). Was it worth £87 a night ?, definitely not !! plus they even try to charge you £17 on top for breakfast, disgusting ! remember your staying in a hotel on an industrial estate, car doors banging all night. Would we go back again ? No way would we, they've had enough cash off us , PPs. Just a bit of constructed criticism for new owners Blackstone, try giving your clientele a bit more value for their money as well as your investors !!

I travelled all the way from Leeds for this stay, which turned into a completely unacceptable experience. From the moment we entered the room, it was uninhabitable. The room was freezing cold as the windows had been left wide open, and there was an extremely loud noise coming from outside that initially sounded like drilling. When we closed the window to address the noise and the cold, the situation became significantly worse. A violent banging noise began, sounding like thunder inside the room. It appeared that something was loose or hanging from the roof, and every time the wind struck this object, creating an unbearable level of noise. This made the room impossible to stay in. We immediately reported this issue and were told that nothing could be done and that we could not be moved to another room because the hotel was fully booked. This response was wholly unacceptable, particularly given the severity of the issue. To make matters worse, the radiator in the room failed to heat the space even after being on for nearly four hours. As a direct result of these failures, we were forced to abandon our stay entirely and drive all the way back to Leeds. The customer service we received was equally unacceptable. One staff member repeatedly responded with a dismissive “uh-huh” while I was explaining the problem, demonstrating a complete lack of professionalism. Rather than attempting to resolve or de-escalate the situation, her attitude only added to our frustration. Staff clearly require further training in customer service and complaint handling

I have been a member of the Village Gym Newcastle since July, and things started off well, unfortunately as time has gone on I have experienced a few incidents that have made me feel incredibly uncomfortable to the point I no longer want to train there. I have contacted the gym about cancelling my membership through my online account, where I went into more detail about my reasons for wanting to do so. Rather than someone calling me as stipulated, I got a generic email saying I needed to continue paying for an entire year for a facility I do not feel comfortable returning to. I then contacted the gym directly regarding the matter and have been ignored since. I understand there was a contract in place, however this isn’t a case of simply not wanting to come to the gym, if anything I am incredibly disappointed this is somewhere I no longer feel comfortable training and I cannot afford two gym memberships. People, particularly female gym members should not have to wait for a serious incident to occur before any action is taken and I would appreciate it if someone could contact me regarding this.

I attended here last night for the Christmas theme I actually felt for the money I paid it wasn't worth it. The 2 course dinner was pitiful I mean 1 roast parsnip! The roasties which were actually hard like the veg! It was suppose to be Christmas themed hardly any Christmas tunes were played. Expensive for what it was my first and last time here!!!
