Parking was a breeze, even if I opted for the paid lot across the street ($11.25 for 3 hours) – good to know they have their own lot in the back for future voyages! My culinary journey began with a cup of their Manhattan clam chowder, and let me tell you, it was like a warm hug from the sea. Rich and intensely tomato-y, it had a satisfyingly pureed texture. The accompanying soup crackers were the perfect shipmates, ready to be dunked and soaked in that flavorful broth. For the main course, I cast my net and landed the fresh catch of the day: grilled halibut. Cooked to perfection, it was flaky and moist. The cheesy potatoes were a comforting side, and the simple tomato slices offered a refreshing counterpoint. A crisp Heineken 0.0 completed this delightful midday catch. The service was as smooth as calm waters – my waiter was attentive without being intrusive. The facilities were shipshape and spotless, and the atmosphere was a pleasant haven for adults. Everywhere you look, the nautical theme comes to life with maritime artifacts, fishing gear, and vibrant sea-inspired artwork. It's clear this restaurant consistently sails smoothly. They seem to have their sea legs firmly beneath them and are always on top of their game. If you're in the Newport Beach area, drop anchor here for a truly satisfying meal! There just isn't much for $51 + tip.

My friends surprised me with a bday celebration here, and this place did not dissapoint! We had the raw clams which were surprisingly very good! I usually do raw oysters, but I have to say, I've been converted! Ialso had the red clam chowder, because my girlfriend raved about it. It was very good, especially with tobasco. I usually prefer white chowder, so I think I'll try the New Englnd chowder next time. We had some deliciously smoked fish, which I forget what it was called, but it was very good. The tarter sauce that it came with was so good, we asked for extra. We shared a crab cake dinner with a side of verry addicting cheesy mashed potatos and delicious rice pilaf. The crab cakes did not look like traditional crab cakes, but yhey sure were full of crab and delicious! We also had swordfish with the same sides, and let me tell you, I never knew that swordfish could be so good! I've had swordfish once in the past that was dry and horrible, so I never cared to try it again. I'm so glad that my friends ordered it this time because I have a whole new outlook on swordfish and will definitely be ordering it again next time. I don't recall the name of the nice gentleman who served us, but he was very professional, patient and helpful as we struggled to decide what to order. He even brought out the beautiful cake that my friend brought for me with lit candles. I loved the casual and cozy atmosphere as well. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion without the pretentiousness of a good seafood restaurant. My friends parked down below which they had to pay for. Not sure if the restaurant validates. I got lucky and got free parking right near the restaurant. I can't wait to come back for more!

Great place for lunch! We drove from San Diego and definitely we would do it again. Every product is fresh and with excellent flavour. We tried the clam chowder, the scallops, the lobster and the crab and we all loved each plate. Each one includes 2 extras, we chose mashed potatoes and salads. For drinks we chose beer and sparkling water which was free. We waited like 15 minutes for a table for three at 2pm. There was people waiting, but there was space to wait inside. Our waiter was nice and attentive. We spent like 30 dollars each one. The place is very nice, has many details and is perfectly decorated for the kind of food.

Love this place! We came on a Saturday afternoon after fishing. We came right at noon, parking is always a challenge in the area but there is a close lot nearby. Nearby. Service was absolutely amazing, that in combination with the food coming out hot and delicious was definitely a great way to top off the afternoon. I will be back 😍😍

I have been coming to this location for years. I started going to the OSF in Tacoma, Washington as a small child, and have loved it ever since. When I moved to Long Beach, CA in 1999, I found out about the one in Newport Beach, and have been driving down ever since. Lots to do in the area too, either before or after dinner. Nice portions, tasty food, combined with good service and a nice atmosphere always make for a pleasurable experience.

We had an amazing dining experience at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Newport, CA. The restaurant is absolutely stunning with a beautiful ambiance, and the food was excellent. Our server, Fermin, was outstanding and went above and beyond to help us choose our meals. He even brought us a sample of the cheese so we could decide on our favorite! I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and opted for mushroom sauce instead of marinara, which Fermand kindly recommended since I love mushrooms. My spouse had the Spinach and Cheese Ravioli, and added chicken—everything was cooked to perfection. The fresh, warm bread was delicious, and the fact that every meal includes a starter, dessert, and your choice of soup or salad makes it an incredible value for such a classy restaurant. The portions are just right, especially with the extras included. The only minor downside was the $5 charge for parking, considering there’s ample space, but it’s not a big deal. Overall, everything was fantastic. Also, learning that this restaurant was originally a spaghetti factory dating back to 1969 adds a unique charm to the whole experience. Highly recommend! Again special thanks to FERMIN!!

I wanted to round up on this one, but couldn't bring myself to give it a 5. This is a Newport Beach classic. However, with so many more restaurant options these days, the bread is just OK and you have to pay separate for it. The salmon meal was fine, but the tartar sauce isn't my favorite. The King Crab was actually really good, but expensive (although fairly priced for the quantity). I have to agree with the overall consensus that this is a below 4.5 star experience. But, above 4 keeps you on the list in my book. Especially with all the nostalgia.

Very neat place but a cross between fancy and cafeteria. Had swordfish and it was cooked perfectly. The sides came via ice cream scoop portions. The Cole slaw was meh at best, cheese potato's same. The clam chowder was more minestrone +clams. Not my style but you might like it. This place reminds me of Harry carry in Chicago. All the wait staff dressed fancy and nothing special. Everything was served on paper/plastic which I assume is beach no glass kiz people are dumb rule. This is more of a fast seafood meal than a fancy date dining experience. Was happy overall and would return.

I came here recently and while the pasta itself was just okay — pretty standard and nothing that really stood out — the staff absolutely made the experience worth it. Everyone was so warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly that it turned a mediocre meal into an enjoyable visit. Sometimes service makes all the difference, and that’s definitely the case here. If you’re looking for a spot with amazing people who make you feel welcome, this is it. I’d come back just for the staff!

I enjoy coming to this location. The interior is extremely well put together and beautiful. I love all the purple accents and colored glass. We didn’t wait long despite not having a reservation. We've been coming to this location for over 30 years. It's one of the most beautiful Spaghetti Factory locations and we've always had a lovely cozy time with family here, with many fond memories going back to when I was a young child. However, when we dined last night, the service was disappointing. Prices have risen quite a bit in the past few years - up to $20-25 per meal - with the quality of the meal remaining around the $15 mark. Garlic butter has also gone missing from the bread service. It was a decently busy night as it was the last night of the Newport Boat Parade, which is to be expected. Service was very slow however, with our salads/soups taking about 30 minutes to arrive, my mocktail taking 45 minutes to arrive, and our main courses arriving over 30 minutes after the salad course had been cleared. The most disappointing part of the evening was the way the Valet crew handled the Boat Parade event. Valet is not optional at this location and is a $5 charge when you are dining. When we arrived, we were told that if, after dining, we walked to the end of the street to view the parade for 10-15 minutes, it would be a $50 charge. A bit steep and surprising as none of this was mentioned when we made dinner reservations, but understandable as the lot typically charges $50 if you want to park there for purposes other than my dining. However, the valet attendants were all chaos. We were told about the additional charge several times and agreed to pay, and upon attempts to pay, we were told by 3 attendants in a row that we would pay when we left for the night. We again let valet know that we would pay the fee when we returned for the car and proceeded to walk down the street. However, a 4th attendant chased us down as we were walking to the corner to again tell us about the $50 charge and we let them know that yes, we have been informed. He then proceeded to yell at us for not having paid and when we said "we were told to pay when we left, several times" the attendant accused us of trying lie and to get away without paying. Not sure how we're going to do that when the car and keys are currently in the lot. We had to go all the way back and pay the fee, missing the start of the parade. When it was mentioned that, while we understood there was some confusion over the valet process for the evening, the issue was handled rudely, instead of a simple apology for the confusion, we were told that it was rude to try and leave without paying (which again, we had stated we weren't trying to do and had already told several attendants our plan). It seems there were two different processes - paying as you leave if you're dining but paying as you arrive if you're parking in the lot for other reasons... confusing if you're both dining and staying to park for other reasons, especially when you're only going to stay parked for approximately 15 additional minutes after finishing dinner. In the future, have a consistent plan for the lot - everyone pays as they arrive or everyone pays as they leave - in order to avoid this issue.

This is the first time I have come to this old establishment across the Newport pier in 7-8 years. As I entered I felt nostalgic as it brought a ton of memories back. As we sat down, we saw the menu which has remained pretty much the same other than the prices. Most dishes run you around $20. I was torn between the chicken Parm and the spaghetti Vesuvius as I wanted some protein but based our servers recommendation I went with spicy spaghetti that come with chunks of chicken sausage and meatballs. Salad came out fairly quickly and so did their hot bread loafs. Our food took a bit but the place was packed on a Friday night so it was understandable. I was disappointed with the spicy Vesuvius and the sauce only covered a third of the spaghetti which was well cooked. I was also disappointed in the sauce as there was literally one piece of chicken. Most of the mean was the meatballs pieces but can’t imagine that there was more than 3 ounces of meat. The food was barely 3 stars for me. Our meal was topped off with a scoop of the spumoni ice cream. It was a nice walk through the past but given what the prices are now and the disappointment in the quality of the food, it will likely be another 7-8 years before I visit again.

The saw the sign “world best seafood” with good rating so I decided to give this place a try. This place unfortunately did not “wow” me or give me that “world best seafood” vibes. I would say it’s a little pricey for the quality of the food. The shrimp cocktail tasted ok. The claim chowder was tomato soup based and it definitely tastes like tomato soup with tiny pieces of clams. You have to order the sourdough separately. Soft shell crab was definitely soft and you can eat the whole thing. The potato and rice were lack of flavors. There was only one waitress and multiple cooks in the back and our order/food took forever to arrived.

Two friends and I went to The Old Spaghetti Factory in Newport Beach two weeks ago in order to celebrate my birthday. The host quickly seated us at a booth, and within minutes our server came over. I explained that it was my birthday and asked how to use the birthday coupon that had been emailed to me. He rolled his eyes and explained it to me. He never once wished me a happy birthday or acknowledged that it was my birthday. Instead, as he explained the coupon, he watched the much larger group that was being seated at tables right next to us, who also had a birthday to celebrate. Needless to say, he focused all of his time and energy on that much larger party. He completely neglected and ignored us, in spite of us waving and calling to him when he was with the large party. In fact, he only returned to us once during the entire time we were there, and that was to return our check and credit card. The rest of the time, we had to flag down any employee we could for drink refills, ice cream and to-go boxes (which we waited for, but never received either of), and even to get our bill. Overall, it was a very aggravating and unpleasant experience, and certainly put a damper on what was supposed to be a happy evening. While we may decide to return to the restaurant in future because we enjoy the food, we will never again go there to celebrate a special occasion.

I’m sorry I know there are a lot of people who like this place however, I am not one of them. Crab Cooker in Newport Beach looks charming at first, but sadly, the food tells a different story. This isn’t a proper seafood restaurant — more of a casual diner setup, but with restaurant-level prices and low quality. All plates, glasses and cutlery is single use and thrown away. We ordered 2 crab cakes $18 per plate, deep-fried in what tasted like reused oil — soggy and lacking flavor. The *clam chowder* (tomato-based, not creamy) was honestly the worst I’ve had anywhere, Wholefoods is even much better. Our server was friendly and upfront about the chowder being different (tomato base), but it still didn’t taste like clam chowder at all — just a bland tomato broth with tough pieces of clam. We also had fried calamari and 3 lemonades. Total bill $90 before tip. For that price, you’d expect fresh seafood. Sadly, this felt more like a (tourist) trap with nostalgic branding. Our waiter was kind, but it doesn’t make up for food that just doesn’t deliver. Many reviews mention the same issues — poor food quality, small portions, and high prices. Plenty of better seafood spots in Newport Beach. Skip this one.

Only one order of that from our table, we had 6x people there! Ring it up separately! Didn’t even ask. Actually ridiculous🧐 coupon expires in March, won’t be able to use. The waiter we had was very Rude and did not even bother to place our order of spaghetti. Waited over an hour for our food and it was only two of us. When shared this with manager, he excused his behavior instead of addressing it. They need better Management. The Valet person was Excellent and delightful.
