Newport's sunset from this place is like no other... Not sure if there is a cover (we didn't have to pay and I wouldn't either); however, after seeing that sunset I may just had paid for it... Yes, service is slow and although I had a reservation, host(ess) was no where to be found so we just helped ourselves to the bar area. Did not eat there and probably wouldn't recommend either just because Newport has the most amazing restaurants. Come here for a pre-dinner cocktails... Really AMAZING

Beautiful view. Drinks are the best. Food is great and super fresh. And if your getting chilly they bring around blankets. ❤️

Our server took over 20 minutes to get our order and it wasn't busy. But view was wonderful.

Staff was awesome! View was great! Perfect spot for view!! The Chef was Super Amazing!

Amazing! Expensive! Worth it! Great views of the sunset over the inner harbor. Imaginative and delicious cocktails. Fresh local oysters and a great overall menu. For cocktails and six oysters will set you back $100. But you might remember the sunset for a very long time.

I can’t speak to the food because we just had sunset drinks. But in terms of drinks if you make a reservation you will get a table…. But the tables don’t have the best views. The self seating bar does. We walked in on a Thursday evening around 7 pm and found a seat at the bar. The service is a bit slow and not at all up to the standards of the hotel on the first floor. However i would go back to enjoy the great views . There is only one bathroom upstairs that is right next to where the elevator is that leads to a bit of a crowded feeling that characterizes the whole place. The atmosphere loses one star for looking out on a parking lot before you elevate your eyes to the sunset 😀

View was lovely, need comfier seating

This is a tremendous view of the sunset! But bring low expectations of everything else. The service was painfully slow and inattentive, despite a large staff given the size of the venue. The food is OK, but came before the drinks, which was disappointing. Beautiful views, but missed the mark on service, big time. Menu is sparse, but what we ordered was OK.

The view was fantastic although I felt it was a bit of a tourist trap. There is a $10 cover per person from 6pm-8pm. They seemed drastically understaffed with folks who you know only work there in the summer. The drinks weren't cheap and they were very slow to bring them over and to bring us the bill. Food menu is very limited. It is nice to go to once but I wouldn't visit there regularly.

Went for apps and drinks with friends on the roof at 6:00 PM. Totally overpriced and little choices of beer and alcohol and no shade. I'm sure the sunset was great, but didn't stay that long. Glad I experienced it but probably won't go back.

Came here on a Tuesday night for an amazing rooftop experience but was let down by the service I received. It was empty and it took more than 30 mins to get one appetizer. They also charged me for a drink that I didn’t like. We won’t be back.

Went here around 6:30 on a Saturday evening. Their reservation site specifies that you cannot make a reservation for drinks just dinner. Drinks are allegedly walk in only. When we arrived and explained we just wanted to grab a drink, we were nevertheless treated extremely rudely by the hostess who chastised us for not having a reservation and told us we could not go in. She did the same to the couple waiting behind us. Very bad experience.

I would not recommend if you have a large group. The day before our reservation, they called to take a credit card and tell us about a minimum. The minimum was not the problem- but when I made the reservation with the assistant food and bev person, no minimum was ever noted. When we arrived, despite confirming the day before, they appeared surprised we were there. They sat our group of 17, at the corner of the bar with 4 barstools for approximately 30 minutes. When we brought it up with the hostess, they moved us to the railing by the entry door and two tables behind the railing (still not enough seating for 17). Our group generally stood and was in everyone’s way for the entire night. I made this reservation months before going. Looking around, there were several groups who were seated in areas that would have been much better for a large group and who were receiving table service. We went up to the bar to order individual drinks. Throughout our reservation, the hostess working rolled her eyes multiple times at girls in the group taking pictures and pushed through our group to take other reservations to their table while we were standing. Again, we were aware we were in the way. However, we were given an area without enough seating for 17. While the bar tenders we worked with were great, the lack of organization and lack of space for us definitely impacted our experience. We spent a large amount of money here and were generally treated like we were inconveniencing the staff. The roof top is beautiful and there isn’t much like it in Newport. However, after this experience, I would hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Newport, especially those with a big group. I reached out to both food and bev coordinators after the fact and no one responded.

I rarely do reviews, so that really says something about this place. It was ridiculously overpriced and the food was absolutely terrible. We were at a bachelorette party and we didn't even get put at a real table. They sat us at a coffee table for 8 people. The only redeeming quality of this place is the view, and that's what you are paying for. Recommend if you go here to only get drinks.

Very bad experience. Limited food choices on the rooftop, bad service, drunken aggressive patrons. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Water down drinks don’t waste your money.

Hours online show until 10pm… had dinner at the Vanderbilt; before dinner at 7:30 was told it was too crowded on the rooftop and they couldn’t accommodate anyone else- then told shortly after 9 that last call was 9:10 and we couldn’t go- after very slow dinner service. Very annoying. Limited menu. Not sure I’d recommend/return.
