Honestly the cutest little shop on the block! I love their premade veggie and fruit drinks. Coffee on the spot. Recently ordered their sandwiches - can't go wrong for a pick me up in the am.

This neighborhood cafe always serves up the best breakfast. Their Eggs Benedict is absolutely a must try and the coffee is superb.

MY FAVORITE cafe in LA!! their prices are very very great and the foods even better. Their raspberry smoothie is also out of this world (try it with the chocolate cake)

I love this charming little place, and had not been there since before lockdown. Seating available only outside, for now. Good coffee, reasonable prices.

I have been coming here since they first opened. I have numerous good experiences with the restaurant and the gift shop. They are very friendly and helpful. This place is truly a treasure.

Marie's been my absolute favorite cafe in the area forever, and I've visited a bunch over the years. It only took me this long to write a review because I just didn't want to share this hidden gem with yelpers and have it be overcrowded 😅

Always friendly staff, wonderful assortment of coffees to suit any taste. Delicious pastries, drinks and quick lunches make this a perfect and speedy morning stop. Looking forward to exploring the gift shop soon!

Local coffee shop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating that is both kid and dog friendly. They are local so you know you are supporting a local business by coming here. They have a lot of pastry options that range from gluten free muffins and scones, to spinach patties, breakfast wraps, breakfast burritos and more. They also have a space inside with furniture and other French inspired decor that is nice to browse through while you're waiting for your order to be ready.

Love this place!! Very good coffee. Very cool ambience....almost garden-like in the middle of the city, a cute gift shop next door and really good food. Plus you can often spot favorite B-celebs there!

My impromptu lunch date with the hubby was complete here with a satisfying Impossible burger, beets and yummy house coffee! Don't expect to be greeted at this cafe. It seems to be frequented by regulars who know the drill of finding your own table, choosing your meal, ordering at the counter and discarding used silverware in its proper place.

A
Alex Gomez

Always friendly, and ready to make your coffee! Love the French coffee house atmosphere.. this place has room to sit all your friends..not i n the mood for coffee, then enjoy breakfast or lunch..inside and outdoor seating.

My new favorite brunch place. It’s self service here so you go to the counter to pay and pickup your food. It reminds me of a French cafe with the food and atmosphere.

Best coffee shop in the Valley. Charles has done a great job of having the best coffee and food, in a quiet European-feeling cafe. I have been coming here for years and will continue to.

First time there. Super cute, nice food and beverage choices, seems healthy oriented (that's good!). Has a beautiful gift store attached to it, so prepare to find something wonderful! Parking limited, you might have to find a spot in the surrounding area.

S
Stephen O'Bryan

This is a cute coffee shop. It's a great place to take a leisurly moment to yourself and relax. It doesn't have the hustle and bustle of a fast food Starbucks. Instead it's a little more civilized. Oh and of course... it's more than just coffee!

Delicious Little Cafe omg great breakfest eggs bacon waffles pancakes. try this place if you have not. You will thank me later pass this place around tell a friend long lines means good food place gets packed. So be patient worth the wait.

Their coffee ☕ is really good and their avocado 🥑 toast is delicious 😋 Great smoothies I had their blueberry, strawberry 🍓 & banana 🍌 smoothie for the 1st time & it was good, you also have an option to add protein for $1 more.

I've driven by this place a bunch and it took me a few times to realize what it was. When my parents were coming over for brunch to see our 2 month old we told them to meet us here. We were able to order breakfast or lunch items at 11am and the service was rather quick. There was a fold down changing table in the bathroom which was a life saver. The woman who was working the shop asked us if we wanted her to grab our food so we could keep an eye on the baby which was nice. The food was good, not mind blowing, but the place is great for hanging out and enjoying your conversations and the food and drinks. Next time I go I'll have to order coffee, and a pastry from the glass case because they looked delicious. The selection in the refrigerator was quite impressive with the various sodas, juices, carbonated and still waters. I do recommend you check it out. It's off the beaten path enough where it won't get the typical brunch rush you'd see at a brunch location on a main street. Parking could be better but it's Southern California, I don't mind a little walk.

J
John Gloria

I recently dropped back in here years after moving out of the neighborhood when I used to hang here constantly and was very pleased to see it is alive and as well as it always used to be. If you're looking for a place to grab lunch on your way through the valley (no ho/studio City) give it a try. It has a lovely outdoor space. The food is really good and the service is always great. There's also a gift / furniture / art store connected you can peruse and grab a gift for your friends, family or yourself. Even your agent if they still have a physical office! 😁

D

Has a shabby chic old world vibe. We come here frequently for Sunday breakfast. The food and service are always top notch.

C

Slow service- maybe need one more employee at busy times. Happy the buzzer is back so we know when our food is ready. I always give a tip even though it’s self serve _ someone is preparing the food— which is fabulous. I didn’t know this—is there delivery?

Very unique establishment. Part of it is a store with cards and gifts and select furnishings, while the other part is a delightful Cafe. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a quaint setting. The food is delicious and very well prepared. Much of it is organic. They serve both breakfast and lunch and they have quite a selection of coffee drinks and pastries. It's definitely worth checking out.

C

Delicious, charming little coffeehouse with smoothies, fresh juice, and sweets. The food menu is similar to Starbucks (sweets, snacks, salads, sandwiches, etc.), but much larger, and better options. The service is great, and they can customize and offer suggestions if you are overwhelmed by the choices. I love the outdoor seating - tables, as well as couches with coffee tables. Parking lot is cramped, but there is often street parking as well.

Darn cute coffee shop and eatery in Studio City. Frequented by screen writters and locals, this dog friendly establishment is one I frequent often.

Stopped by for the first time when I went to watch my kids football game down the street. I used to work at a coffee shop and this place got their pastries from the same place we did and their choices are phenomenal. They also had a fridge with premade food for ones that are in a hurry. They also have a kitchen and I ordered a few croissant ham and cheese sandwiches and they were so yummy. This coffee shop offers more than what meets the eye.. also the staff was very friendly, felt very cozy.

Been going here for years. Besides all the delicious pastries they have some great dishes. For someone who is picky about eating fish, salmon is crazy good. Charles is great, always there attending to his customers. Great place to grab some lunch and chill. They have the best salads!!!!

M

I ordered the farmers omelette and a parfait. It was really good. It was pricy but the quality is worth it since they use organic items. When I walked in, I saw really good looking pastries (that I'll try another time). This place has a good variety of food. If you are craving something, they probably have it. I asked for hot cocoa which wasn't on the menu and they were able to make it for me. It gets busy and it was short staffed but the person in the front tried its best to get the orders out. Expect a wait, a pricy meal, but you'll enjoy the food!

Got in after a nice morning walk To get cappuccino *and was overwhelmed by the gift store inside. Great atmosphere and the smell from good coffee or great candle. Purchase a self gift and seat out side for my coffee. The menu offers delicious dishes..and pastry 🤩🤩will come back for sure

Ever go to a restaurant where you liked the decor, the furniture and thought the table you are sitting at might look nice at your house? Well, just bring your credit card and you can take home the table, chairs and even the decor. Everything is for sale, except the awesome staff. Be nice to the staff. They are super nice. Food is very tasty and prices are fair. Lots of selection. Restaurant is clean and so are the bathrooms. Ample parking and if the lot is full, there's always street parking.

Friendly service, top quality products. The hot tea selection is very good, the fresh squeezed orange juice is amazing. Today I thoroughly enjoyed the egg salad wrap as well. A quiet and relaxing, shaded and comfortable outdoor seating area.

I live less than half a block away from this little French cafe. They have delicious variety of coffee's and wonderful French pastries. This is a very eclectic cafe and that they have outside seating inside seating on one side and the other side has couches and interesting chairs to sit. It has very interesting décor with something interesting by every table. This is also dog friendly outside. The parking lot gets a little tight but you can also park on the street.

I’m so happy that I now live two blocks from this place. Fantastic coffee and food with very eclectic vibes. More than anything, I highly recommend their pre-packaged Fettuccini pasta. It honestly is the best tasting pasta ever made and I would eat it ever day, if possible.

I stopped by Marie Et Cie and it brought back fond memories of when I used to AD. We had our production meets here and I’ll say their menu has gotten more robust from the last time. Parking is in the lot where the restaurant is and they also have a cool store where you can get candles and more. I had the salmon which was great. The grilled vegetable salad was delicious, especially because I love corn. They also have shrimp pasta which I recommend. The vibe is casual, you can get coffee, fresh orange juice, fresh organic lemonade, fruit tarts, and other pastries. Oh other things you’ve gotta try are their açaí bowl, burger and omelettes. Yum!

I love it here. Perfect place to come and sit outdoors as there is plenty of cute, quaint outdoor seating. This is a wonderful place to meet a friend for coffee or to sit and read a book. Cozy cafes are hard to come by in Los Angeles but this is a great choice. They actually light candles at the tables here, it’s very cute. The only reason I gave the atmosphere 4/5 instead of 5 because of the kind of music that was being played here. It was nothing offensive, it’s just the same garden variety covers of pop songs you hear in tons of LA cafes. That simply doesn’t fit with the (superior) decor.

This is a neighborhood staple. The food is reliably excellent, the ambience is charming and the wifi is fast. An ideal alternative to starbucks. One of the great valley traditions. May it never close.

Been coming for years. I usually drink coffee, so I can't vouch for the baked goods or other pre-made food items. And the coffee is fine, and not as expensive as some places. They are usually understaffed, so things get a bit dirty outside. Some comfortable couch-ey places to sit and work, but also some unforgiving chairs and a bench. Beware wafting cigarette smoke! For privacy, sit under the canopy along the Colfax side.

C

Love this place. A coffee shop and a boutique. Coffee is good. They have baked goods too that are delicious, but a bit pricey. The boutique has interesting and cute items for gifts or for yourself. Parking can be very challenging. The lot is very small.

The best thing about this place is the cozy atmosphere. It is quaint, with charming fixtures and furniture. The menu is eclectic and different. I had no food items this time, but just the organic lemonade made out of freshly squeezed lemons. Will definitely be back.

Love this charming place...excellent coffee, pastries, breakfasts, etc. I have had several meetings there and it's quiet enough to be really pleasant. The only thing I don't like is the parking lot is minute and there is often no space available. But that hasn't stopped me from frequenting the place, nor will it in the future.

P

Good coffee? Check. Good pastries? Check. An attached gift shop with a random assortment of house literature and tchotchkes that seem like they were hand-crafted by a Prozac-fueled suburban mom on a shopping spree at TJ Maxx? Double-check. Loves it. This Fashionista will be back again soon.

Good spot here. Nice coffees. Great pastrys but no nutritional information. Food is ok but not as good as the pictures. Hit and miss I guess. There is a really good outdoor area. Ideal during coronavirus. You used to see writers on their laptops back in the day but no more.

The food was good and tasty. The coffee was good. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. Outdoor seating was full at the time of my visit. Very cute cafe. Great to do some work at. The food is really good and they have a surprising amount of options for such a small place. I usually get a matcha latte from here and sometimes take a walk around the neighborhood. Super convenient as I live nearby. The store also has a store attached to it. I haven't done much browsing in there but it's got trinkets and furniture. Lots to explore. All the employees are very nice also.

Good coffee. The blueberry muffin was dry and fell apart in the wrap. It was pretty mealy. I think the other food is probably better. Muffin, croissant, small tea and large coffee was $12 plus tip. Seems high.

I would like to rate Marie et Cie 4 stars, but there's a problem. The last time I visited was extremely disappointing. The egg omelette arrived dry and was meager in size. The first time I tried this omelette a visit or two before, it was full of olives and goat cheese and was the tastiest piece of heaven. I craved having a second one for weeks. However, this visit, there was barely any goat cheese and I was heartily disappointed by the amount of olives. The second issue I had was with the toast that was late in arriving to my table. One of the two pieces was extremely burnt, i.e. charred black on the outside. On the upside, I had a very nice cup of coffee to go with my meal and for that, I will likely return again.

A

First, when you walk in there is a list of rules which right away left a sour taste in my mouth. Second, we ordered a pot of tea and was told they didn't have any because they broke. Disappointed.

D
Deborah Pappas

Food is great, sadly service is bad. I've been twice -- the first time I remember they messed up something in our order and it wasn't too crowded. The second time was a complete disaster -- everyone was complaining that the food was very slow to come out. In a party of three, one of us got his sandwich very quickly, while the other two of us waited for I believe an hour, plus they got my coffee order wrong and I had to ask them to change it. A group at the table next to us demanded a refunded and the manager gave it; we demanded the same and after a little aggressive discussion we received it. It seemed like they were doing some catering that day and their kitchen was massively overwhelmed. Just get a coffee and a pastry here -- otherwise could be hit or miss. They really need to hire more kitchen staff.

r
randy brenner

This place was great and has gone downhill in the last couple years. Used to be great staff and really great treats and snacks and terrific coffee, it has now become people who get your order wrong, have attitude or sometimes rude, they've gone from using actual plates and silverware to plastic ware and the only thing good about it is the atmosphere. it's got a lovely shop to sit in that sells overpriced items.

M
Marianne Giblin

Charming French cafe ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be a challenge depending on the time of day. Outstanding for coffee and desserts. They have okay to good sandwiches and prepared cold foods which they will heat up for you. This is more of a breakfast and lunch place. They were very short staffed at 7pm. The one person on duty had an attitude like he'd rather be closing the business than serving new customers. He was probably stressed or overwhelmed by the volume of people arriving. They close at 8pm. It was a turn off and I won't be back in the evening.

J
John Lucien Grillo

A bit on the pricy side of the spectrum of coffee shop slash restaurants out there. Not really sure why either. Counter staff aren't exactly the cheeriest of people, but maybe that's because it was late on a Saturday? Still, their collection of curious home decor items and refurbished antique furniture is quite nice. And they have a great patio to enjoy.

M
Moses Jones

I thought the staff were nice and helpful. 5 stars means over and above, and while I didn’t feel that level of service, their energy was pleasant. The restaurant looked like it is maintained well and clean. OK so to the food: for starters my meal was $31. In NO way do I feel like my food was worth that amount, as there wasn’t one thing I ate/drank that I’d go back and reorder. The Vanilla French Toast, I felt like i did not taste a hint of vanilla, just tasteless corn flakes on the bread. I couldn’t taste the cheese in my eggs that I apparently paid extra for; and they were ok (not horrible but not great). Bacon was bacon - it was good, but I feel like there’s not much cooking that goes into bacon. And the latte was just ok as well. Note: I called in my order and initially planned to pick it up and leave. But I got there and decided to stay. So keep that in mind when checking out the appearance. Even with me having to order all those items a la carte, I was shocked to hear $31, especially when I didn’t enjoy it.

It had been a several years since I last tried Marie et Cie but recently decided to try them again cause I remember enjoying them the few times I came before when I lived in the area. I got a simple BLT which came with a side of fries. The food was pretty good and everything tasted great. While the food is good and the restaurant offers generous outdoor seating there is simply a feeling that something is lacking from this resturant. It is counter service so you need to order at the register and then go pick up your food when it is ready, as well as bus your table. Nothing I normally mind personally but for me to recommend a place the lack of even a bus person lowers the worth of an establishment. If you are looking for a decent place to have some privacy, maybe work outside on a nice day and be in a peaceful setting, Marie et Cie might jsut be the place for you. Outside of that specific experience, I doubt I'll return.

I was hoping to go to a place with good pastries for breakfast. I got disappointed. All the pastries and bakeries are industrial. Nothing is made on the spot. The Apple Tart was disgusting. I felt insulted because I am French and I couldn’t believe they can offer that and use French decorations, Paris, the Eiffel tower. When I asked the employee if the croissants were made today, she said yes but I could feel she was not sure what to say.

The outdoor area is nice. Food is good but a bit overpriced. For me it’s the unbelievably awful/non-existent service that’s the issue. Been coming to this place a long time and I ALWAYS tip. Slow service, no basic human connection, no attention to detail, no gratitude for almost daily business. Many of the servers just don’t have the most basic training in customer service. I think the problems stem from the management who doesn’t know how to take care of/train their workers which is why they have such a high turnover rate and horrible service. They not only lost a customer but one who brought a lot of business from others as well.

I used to come here frequently for their coffee, but in the past year they've raised their prices so high that it's not even close to affordable. The pastries are only so-so. They feel artificial, or as another reviewer said, industrial. Between the high prices and the mediocre quality, I just don't know what keeps people coming back.

I've always passed by this place but have never stopped in. Friends of mine have been here and they described it as quaint. Well it certainly has an elegant air about it, the little knick-knacks they sell are cute, French provincial. The food and the coffee are average, a couple of things stand out but for the most part everything is good but average. The outdoor dining is a nice little setting. However, the reason I gave it only two stars is that the employees are extremely surly. Somebody sold them a bill of goods that said if you act aloof and uninterested with little compassion people will like you and think you're cool. Not so much. No eye contact, the person making me the coffee practically tossed it on the counter and said here you go without even looking at me. Not going to be going back there

My husband and I were excited about trying a local spot. And it was.... OK. We got 2 cappuccinos that ended up being more milk and foam than anything else (definitely missed the coffee there). I got an acai bowl which was OK-ish... They didn't add the bananas and the toppings weren't fresh. You pay extra for additional toppings and I wish I had taken a photo of the bowl showing almost no seeds or anything really. I paid 3.25+tax for literally 2 slices of bread (gluten-free, I appreciate they have gluten free options). My husband tried the Shakshouka omelette and he enjoyed it. The place was clean and there was plenty of space for sitting... That part I liked. It is an interesting place but kinda overpriced for what you get.

First of all, this is my personal opinion & experience, I saw a lot of people coming in so I might be more picky with what I expect from a coffee shop/restaurant. Service was really nice, the guy who took our order was friendly. The place is really cute and it was clean. We didn't like the food, most of their stuff is pre-cook/pre-made, so don't know how long it's been there frozen. I ordered a quiche and I saw when they put it in the oven, it was really humid inside, felt like a sponge instead of the warm, egg-ish texture, I think it's because the ice melted inside, so it was a bit flavorless. The pecan bar is was good, but a bit too stiff since it's been refrigerated too long. Waffle was basic, unsure if they made it from scratch or if it was a frozen one. Drinks were okay. Another thing I didn't like it was the excessive use of disposable plates & utensils, this is not very eco-friendly, it's a waste, which to me it's something to consider -personal opinion. I don't think I'd come again but people were coming in constantly, so maybe I had higher expectations.

There’s no service other than the nice folks who take your order. Everything else is up to the customer- picking up food, cleaning up your dirties, all of it- and yet their rules state that tipping is expected. I’m over it. The rules in general are insulting. My morrocan eggs were delicious, but my wife’s acai bowl was terrible as was all the coffee we got. Not stellar for any place calling itself a cafe. I did enjoy the atmosphere though, lovely decor. But for me, food quality is paramount and this place is a ripoff for poor quality eats. A shame because With better ownership it could probably be so much better overall.

Girl at counter was so rude( im here at 10:30 on a Thursday so owner can figure out who), had a mean expression (and no hello, please, how are you, thank you, have a great day). Food and drink are fine, but not special, definitely wont take a train and a bus to come here again. Also dogs everywhere, yeah, perfect for studying, yeah right

It’s very French, including the service. The food was fine but the kid behind the counter completely disregarded me in favor of some dude who cut the line because he *needed* his to go order so I doubt I’ll ever be back

Had driven by this place many times but never had the opportunity to stop so when I had a breakfast meeting I ordered for delivery 30 minutes before the meeting started for about $50 worth of food and drinks. The delivery time was approaching and still no update on the order being picked up, on the way, and no call or text about issues with the order. Just before the meeting started still the food and drinks had not arrived so I called to check on the status but there was no answer. After my meeting I called again since I was looking forward to the meal and supporting a local place with hopes of visiting in person. No answer that time either. Later in the day I received a text that the order was completed, which was a surprise since I had not received anything or been contacted. When I requested a refund for the food not delivered, the payment/delivery company was told that the food had been delivered (over 4 hours later and not to me?) and was satisfactory. Neither of those statements is true. After attempting to reach a resolution I regret that I have to write this review instead of the review of the food that seems like it would have been delicious based on other reviews and the menu description.

Lady on the phone was rude when I tried to order over phone, so I ordered online. Came to pickup and waited a half hour for 1 entree.. No one welcomed me or asked me if i had been served. No smiles, employees seem unhappy. Ponytailed guy at the register was at least trying. Customers also seemed rude and demanding. Despite the beautiful organic food displays, vibe is super negative. Food was cold by the time i reminded them i hadnt been helped and they boxed it up for me. Only redeeming quality was the Latino cooks in the back who asked me if I had been helped. Never going back.

We live down the street and really hate this place. Bad coffee, bad food, bad prices (expensive), total Karen atmosphere. Weird rules about electronics. Wish we had a better spot than Marie eat Cie within walking distance.

Rating this place one star because of the customer service. Nobody ever smiles, and it's the worst in the morning. It's not busy at all and there's two cashiers- yet it took a total of 16 minutes to get a chamomile tea and croissant, while everyone who ordered after me received their orders. Never coming back in the morning. At least in the afternoon they're more on top of things, still not friendly though.

IF YOU EAT KOSHER OR HALAL, BEWARE; HERE'S WHY: I ordered eggs benedict and specifically asked to replace Canadian bacon with turkey bacon, which they didn't do so I took it back and instead of making it new, they just swapped out the Canadian bacon with turkey bacon. Here's why this is a problem: if someone asks to replace a pork product with a non-pork product, you have to assume it is because they eat kosher or halal. When you place pork on bread, you CANNOT REUSE THAT BREAD AS IT IS COVERED IN PORK OIL. So this is pretty horrifying and disgusting to do. Further, the English muffin was BURNT. And I had to ask for extra hollandaise sauce and they looked at me weird, but they put literally nothing on there, maybe a teaspoon per. So the best part of what is ALWAYS MY FAVORITE BREAKFAST (eggs benedict) was the FRUIT. I will be sharing this with all my kosher and halal eating friends, and will never return, because a place in Los Angeles that has no respect for people who eat kosher doesn't deserve the service (in LA, where there are a LOT of Jews, there is no excuse for this). Very disappointed to experience this at a place that looks lovely and has a great atmosphere.

Writing this is a real disappointment. I’ve been coming here for three years. Their service had always been questionable and exceptionally slow, but they were close and had a family feel. Last week I went in with my fiancée and they messed up every order and were apathetic to fixing it. We ordered two iced vanilla lattes, one with almond milk one without. We received two identical lattes. We also order two steak and egg burritos, one with potatoes and one with salad. Both were salad. Overall, these are minor issues that we could easily overlook. We took the food to go so we did not see the issue until we got home. The man that took our order was disconnected and not paying attention from the start. Upon seeing the mistake, we called for a refund on the salad. We wanted to give them the opportunity to fix their mistake. Instead they were dismissive and insisted they could do nothing except give me potatoes the next time we came in. I tried explaining it’s not my job to come back to fix their mistake. Don’t give me an errand. I paid you. You messed it up. I asked to speak to the manager and they claimed they had left for the day. I asked the name of who I was speaking to so I could tell the manager who took our order and was so disrespectful over the phone and they mentally imploded. They proceeded to forget their name, pretend not to hear me, and then hang up. I called the next day and a woman insisted the manager would call me when they got in next. It’s been three days and no call. There are hundreds of incredible mom and pop spots here in LA, don’t waste time with the ones who don’t care, and feel entitled to your business and money. Awful experience. Awful stuff.

Hate to leave a bad review but yesterday’s brunch? Not good, guys. Not good. Arrived at 11, no one in the line in front. Ordering was easy but then waited 40 mins to go and collect a bagel, lox and cream cheese order. When I say collect, I mean there is no table service. You collect when your buzzer buzzes. Still tipped so please don’t @me. Paid >$20 for a meal that I can buy in Ralph’s for $6.50 and get more lox. The amount of lox was laughable - I’m a small individual, don’t need a lot, so please understand I’m not exaggerating. And a tiny 1/2 oz sealed tub of cream cheese, not even fresh? I love supporting small businesses, really, but this is treating your customers like dirt. And for the love of goodness, CLEAN the single bathroom you provide for folks to use. Do not recommend, will not return and frankly am surprised at all the good reviews.

We arrived last week at afternoon for cups of coffees and cakes, this is what found while I was eating the pie. We returned back to the shop and got an apathetic attitude from the baristas (maybe they are familiar with these situations?). Poor maintenance, poor service. We were told "there is power outage once in a while" like it's something we need to be considerate for. We left our info asking to forward it to the owner so he will contact us, it's been a week and one day and no communication has been made. We do not recommend this place. Update: 9 months no contact.
