Opinions de El Tejano North Hollywood
I always love going here. The bartenders are always really great, and their Texas-size drinks definitely live up to the name. I haven't had the food, but as a place to go for some drinks and to enjoy yourself with some buddies it's awesome. Especially since they have both beer pong and corn hole set up.
I've had multiple great experiences at this establishment. I moved out of LA, but my friend lives in North Hollywood, walking distance to El Tejano. The first time I went with her there it was Sunday brunch time and we just wanted to chat, have a drink, a taco and some of the chips and salsa bar. The bartenders were so friendly and attentive, it was a great experience. The next time I visited LA, I wanted to go back there because it was so much fun. I thought the Sunday slow day was why the staff was so awesome, but I was wrong. We went with a bigger group on a Saturday night during a big football game. We were lucky enough to get a table as others were leaving, but even though it was packed, the service was AMAZING! Every time any of us went to the bar, someone asked us if we'd been served within 30 seconds, and even when we were waiting for our drinks, we were asked if we needed anything. The service there will keep me going back every time I go to LA. The food is delicious, they have fun games like corn-hole , tons of tvs for sports and the best service I've experienced in LA. Definitely a favorite of mine.
Good and abundant drinks. Not sure if the reason was because they were out of regular glasses, but my Cuba Libre were huge and delicious. WILL BE BACK.
Great fun atmosphere for getting your drink on Mexican style!! They have food from 11 in the morning till 11:30 @ night! The staff is great, and also has a full bar! You can all so book private parties and events!! Worth a weekly or monthly visit to unwind with friends and family
We came for after work drinks and sat at the bar. We were immediately greeted by Liza, who is amazing! After we established it was our first time here she gave us the run down that it's always happy hour here. So we ordered some house margaritas and nachos. Both were great. The atmosphere is fun and light! The drinks strong and the food delicious. I see us spending lots of time here in the future.
Eric the bartender was extremely rude. We sat at the bar waiting to be helped then when he helped a customer before us (whom arrived after us) he proceed to say “okay cool” & did not acknowledge after we approached him. Very unprofessional Eric!
Awesome Tex-mex bar & grill for a more hip crowd. Bars and bartenders are awesome here. You have to try the fish tacos here! Great outdoor patio to enjoy a drink or watch the game. They have plenty of seating both indoors and out. Parking may be a challenge but worth the effort.
The security company Cannon has great guards. They’re very professional and do excellent jobs keeping all our friends safe.
Came here during the day on the weekend and it felt like a day party. The beer was cold and the vibe was cool. Do recommend to come in a big group to this place. I didn’t try the food but then again nobody did so that might’ve been a sign.
The servers and bartenders were extremely attentive, especially on a weekend. I had the quesadilla and the house margaritas. I can't complain, food was good and margaritas were strong . Restaurant is clean and they have games to enjoy
Mark our bartender was freaking awesome. All the fellas behind the bar were fast and they wanted to help everyone too. But Mark wouldn't forget a face when he'd let us know we'd be next, he remembered and tended to us and took care of us as if we were special guests. My kind of place. Kudos to this fun and clean bar. Will definitely be coming back again. How could I not?
Went to this place to meet a friend for dinner - his recommendation. It did not disappoint. Fantastic food & drinks but what made it even more memorable was the friendly & helpful staff. Great atmosphere. I will be back next time I’m in LA. Taco Tuesday is the best!
A bit rowdy, but drinks are huge and do not disappoint. Margaritas and mezcal-based drinks were particularly tasty. They allow dogs, which makes the atmosphere a little more laid back. I would recommend getting in and out before 10pm. Gets a little bro-ey around then.
This place has a great happy hour and it’s DAILY from 3-7pm! The bartender, Beto, was awesome ~so friendly and helpful with his recommendations. I had the fish taco, Baja style, my hubs had the carne asada taco and we split the potato taco. Highly recommend the fish taco, Baja style. And here’s what Mexican restaurants are missing of late-chips & salsa are complimentary. It’s a fun atmosphere and our bill came out to $30 + tax.
The food here is great but let's be honest no one's here for the food. The real reason people come here is the amazing drinks. The bartenders are great at what they do and they serve beer in a big old goblet. I highly recommend trying one or two beers in that and you'll be good for the night. Though if those don't get you buzzed enough try one of their margaritas.
We went for day drinks today, as I'm on vacation and getting ready to leave the country. I haven't seen these friends in about a year. The atmosphere was great, but I can image it gets loud as the day goes on. The place was relatively empty, but the drinks were amazing and gigantic. I'll definitely be back to try the good in the evening.
Great happy hour deal, got our second drink for $2. I love the warm chips and salsa bar, and our tacos and queso were delicious. I recommend the frozen watermelon margarita. Absolutely will be coming back for more!
Good vibes and reasonable prices!!! Check out the carne asada fries they have a twist with the waffle fries but definitely one of the best items on the menu. The Cadillac margaritas are good too!!!
Let's set the record straight: this place is an incredible taco joint. Tuesday nights have become a favorite for me here. Dollar street tacos are solid - especially the carnitas. Some of the most flavorful I've tasted. The cuts of meat they use are leaner than cheapo places; slightly more chewy, way more flavorful. $11 2-for-1 margarita drink specials are what's up (the blended ones are on the sweeter side), and there is a self-serve chip bar inside with 2 *amazing* salsas. Honestly, do yourself a favor and get a brisket taco. Out-of-control good. I've also had dinner here another weeknight, and the burrito I had was quite incredible. A few reviews call out slow service: I've never waited more than five minutes to be helped, and that was on a busy Tuesday night. I was helped even faster when I was here on a random Wednesday. Haven't been on the weekend, but I can only imagine that the insane drink specials draw a massive crowd. Don't know if I'd personally want to hang out here on a Friday or Saturday night, but hey, I'm not 22 anymore.
I appreciated the drinks during happy hour. Complimentary chips with tasty and spicy salsa. The vibe is perfect for a happy hour or if you want to stay late. Late night was a party vibe and I would definitely go back. Shout out to the bartenders and workers there.
This place rocks! My fiancé and I went here at 5pm on a Friday after work and there was plenty of seating, even though it was starting to rain. The outside area is huge with lots of games and stools/tables. And the inside area is also huge with booths and a big bar to sit at. Everyone was super friendly and the music was amazing. We ordered the huge margaritas for $14 which is a great deal! And free chips and salsa!
This place is so cute and fun! The margaritas are good and strong, the trivia is wild, and the atmosphere is very Texas. The bartender forgot I was there for about 10 minutes but apologized and was very sweet about the situation. Wound up comping my drink! Been back twice since then and each time was great. It's an awesome little spot if you want chips and salsa with a margarita! Also, GAMES! Corn hole and large connect 4.
Great vibe, great service, great food! Sit outside and play Cornhole with your drinking buddies, or sit inside and watch old music videos and sports. Enjoy the free chips and salsa bar while downing copious amounts of Shiner Bock beer 🍺. The tacos and fajitas are excellent. Come and get a taste of Texas right here in North Hollywood!
It's criminal that this place, which serves bomb tacos and margaritas, is sitting at 4 stars while City Kitchen (the 2nd most disgusting eatery in the Arts District) is sitting at 4.2 stars right now. This demands justice. I'm a slut for the spicy shrimp tacos, but the chicken is also great. Every vegan I've taken here loves the potato tacos, and happy hour prices are unbeatable. If you want giant margaritas to wash it down, I recommend the house and spicy margs, though the frozen margaritas are good if you like a very sugary drink. Either way, they are generous with the volume of alcohol in every beverage, so take it slow. Did I mention unlimited chips? You serve them yourself in the back, but they're pretty decent. Personally, I prefer the self service practice because I can down a whole basket of chips and salsa while waiting for my tacos. The atmosphere is totally kitsch and sporty, and it would be perfect if it weren't for them blasting the music SO LOUD ALL DAY, and often playing two songs at once. It's just a cacophony of noise that makes us want to jet early. Service is great and quick, but know what you want before you get up to the bar.
Good authentic Mexican food, great choice of alcohol and beverages. Good service, great place to watch games with friends.
drinks and vibe was cool for a friday night. 1st time in NoVo so great spot to experience.
Loved this spot, with both outdoor and indoor areas, good drinks, and a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend visiting here!
FYI Security is everywhere….when we first arrived we couldn’t help but wonder if this place was safe since there was a large security presence BUT don’t let that detour you. Saturday nights get turnt up! I went with my girls for a long overdue night out. We shared the hat margarita, it was the bomb! While we were dancing some creep forced his way into our group and was getting handsy with my friend. She told him to stop but he would leave then come back. He tried to sit with us and drink our margarita. We told security what was happening and they told the guy to leave us alone or he would have to leave. He left for a little bit but came back and forced his way into our dance group. We did not even have to tell security a second time! They were watching him and watching out for us. This creep was told to leave but fought with security the whole way out. We went outside to see what would happen to the guy and we saw him yelling and screaming…He even spit on security. I see where some of y’all put that security sucks but my friends and I are glad they were there to keep us safe.
A time was HAD last night! Watched my first baseball game in my life, and apparently, it's the World's Series? I dunno... lol. I'm not into sports whatsoever. I only meant to get lunch, lol... but the vibe was great, so I stayed a little while longer, and there was an event for Tito's tequila going on, and they gave me a HUGE pink frozen drink that tore my ass up🤣🤸🏾🍹... so I stayed a wee bit longer and before I knew it.... I was SURROUNDED by baseball fans! The World's Series is like the baseball championships I gathered. They all thought I was crazy for never having watched baseball, lol... but they were happy to explain what was happening (I still don't get it🤣), but they were cheering, and it was all a blast! I had a fried fish taco & their lemon pepper wings with garlic buffalo sauce & ranch as a dip.... lemme lol... lemme tell you sum. THESE WINGS ARE EVERYTHING... OMFG, THEY'RE AMAZING! The drinks kept coming, and LA won the game! Great times! Super fun place to watch a game if you like sports, and even if you're not a sports person, you'll enjoy the vibes! Generous patio & and indoor seating as well. Be sure to watch your parking meter signs, though... they turn into valet only after a certain hour. This place was a TOTAL win... 100% get the wings!
Tonight was my 3rd visit to this location and I'm going to tell you my go to drinks and food. You can't go wrong with the margaritas! Happy hour all day everyday allows you to get a larger version for $2. Chips and salsa are always free at the salsa bar because the drinks are strong! But that's not the best part, the guacamole is. I ordered chicken taquitos and they were so good and the only true healthy option. My friend ordered there carne asada tots, and those were really good. Besides that this place is fun, they have games outside and don't forget to take care of your bartender! 💜
This is Tex-Mex for the California palate so don't expect the real thing, but it's pretty good. I saw lots of fellow Texas here and there atmosphere matches the vibes of Austin's trendiest Hangouts. There's a nice bar, lots of activities, and free chips and salsa (a Texas staple!). They need a third flavor of salsa that is a little milder as the two available are flaming! A nice avocado salsa would be great. The portions are huge and prices are reasonable. I'll definitely be back.
Fun vibe with an outdoor patio that feels like it could be a friend’s back yard. The inside has a brightly-colored but appropriately lower lit warehouse feel, at night at least. In fact, It seems like the space was probably formerly a car mechanics’ garage or something, in which case they’ve done a nice job converting it into an eatery/drinkery. There’s a large bar placed smack dab in the middle of the room. The bartenders were a bit harried, and service took some patience, but it was a rather busy evening with some holiday parties going on. The basic margarita was just that: basic and a bit syrupy. The skinny spicy margaritas were the spiciest I’ve had, and all the better for it! The crowd was convivial and the opposite of obnoxious, unlike some other nearby joints. Overall, a more than pleasant yet somewhat anodyne place that seems to lack a figurative “hook” that would draw me back. Still, I have no trouble recommending it.
Good Tex-Mex-Cali bar. Dallas Cowboys bar on NFL game days. Good food and decently priced drinks. Only knock is the crowd can be out of control. Just be out the door an hour or two before closing time to avoid showing up on the Citizen App.
Interesting texmex joint nestled in the heart of the noho arts district. Went there on halloween weekend around midnight and the dj was great and everyone seemed to be having fun. Got one of those large prickly pear margaritas and they were surprisingly strong for how much cheaper they are compared to most cocktails in LA. Stayed till closing and everyone was chill wrangling the stragglers out of the bar for the night. Would def go back another fun and energetic night
Can't beat the prices, order a drink and get the same drink for $2 more, ANYTIME! Come on now. If you're on a budget and want to drink, this is the place. Parking sucks but if you go after 6 PM, you don't have to pay for metered parking. The food is decent too. This is a self service place, meaning, you order drinks and food up at the bar, they give you a number and someone will deliver your food to the table.
I've been there twice, each time as good as the last. Lively place, good crowd, tasty drinks & cool bartenders. Eat inside for intimacy, or drink out on the patio/terrace for a bit of fun & relaxation. There are a few old-school carnival (style) games, to be played and plenty of t.v. screens for watching sports. Made new acquaintances before the night was over.
Would have given it 5 ⭐️ but the workers are not allowed to wear anything under their red work shirt. Two or so weeks ago when it was a bit cold, I could see the workers trying to put up the good fight against Mother Nature but their efforts were futile. Dope spot. Really decent food. Good service, but a few chilly nights could change that. Thank goodness we're in California ✌🏾 The everyday $2.00 more drink special 🙌🏾
Ah the age old quest for real Tex-Mex/queso in LA. As a native Texan, my buddy told me that El Tejano would be right up my alley and it did not disappoint. Granted, the queso is Velveeta based so can't be compared to Escalantes (the golden standard) - but they own it as shown by the Velveeta painting on one of the walls. A fun, bar environment where you can also just have a nice dinner if craving Tex-Mex. -------Food------- Texas Style Queso (5/5) - The main reason I came. The thirst for true queso around LA is so real. The dip is well done; diced tomatoes and chopped green chiles tasted fresh. You can tell it's a Velveeta based queso but I was just glad the waiter didn't just hand me a bowl of cheese like most places in LA that serve "queso". By the way they have self-serve chips and salsa near the bar. "Texas" Brisket Taco (2/5) - Yes, I added the quotations to the menu name. This is not real brisket, more like watery pulled beef. How dare you associate this with the great country of Texas. The huge portions of refried beans and rice were awesome though. Texas Tots (4/5) - Tater tots topped with queso - what more does a man need in life. Notice the lack of quotations around the Texas. Tots were crispy and the addition of queso/Tejano cheese/pico de gallo put it over the top. No complaints here. Shiner Bock (5/5) - Shiner!!! Any good ol' Texas boy loves his Shiner so it was nice to see a place claiming Tex-Mex serving it. You can 'Texas' size your drink for an additional $2 which obviously I did. Check the picture. I'm aware I didn't order any true Tex-Mex but I'll be back for the quesadilla and fajitas. -------Staff (5/5) ------- You order food and drink at the bar and someone brings your food to the table. Not much to say, again it's more of a bar scene. Self-serve chips and salsa - I was very attentive to myself. Chip basket was never empty. -------Venue (5/5)------- Very fun venue. Not super crowded like some bars can get. The front end is an open area with a bar, cornhole, giant connect four, beer pong, and other games. Plenty of seating inside and out and lots of TV's to catch a game. Inside is a more low-key vibe where you could just sit down for dinner or hang out at the bar. Parking is impossible but there is a lot 3ish blocks away with $2 all-day parking.
I would’ve given them 5 stars all around but only one bump I made a reservation for a big group everything was confirmed and upon arrival no tables were reserved and they had no idea a big party was coming. Two lovely guys I wish I got there names made the tables set up and Eve try thing was amazing after! I love this place
We had nacho and several tacos and rice and beans. The carne asada taco was mediocre but the shrimp taco was delicious. The nachos was delicious even though it was a bit too much. The star was the rice and beans.
Its a hybrid between a lounge and a bar. It has very nice decor. The ambience is upbeat and social. I had the wet burrutto it was very good and filling. They have a nice patio area and nice happy hour. The only con is that the parking is terrible, they have none. Besides that a nice hangout place. Recommend taking uber there.
This place is fun! It was a while since I've been here and they changed the music a bit, but I love it. The drinks are good and the chips and salsa bar is amazing! The food is good, nothing to get that excited for. My friends and I went early on Friday and there was a lot of seating. Around 9ish it starts getting packed with early 20s crowd. I still recommend this place during the week or early on the weekends. Great place! Service is also good.
I like El Tejano. The food is good, and you get a lot for what you pay for. I like the self serve chips and salsa. The space is big and never feels crowded and there's plenty of seating. They have a decent happy hour. For what it's worth, even though it's 21+, it feels more like a restaurant than a bar My only complaint is the music. It's way too loud. It makes it hard to have a conversation. I wish they'd turn it down a bit
El Tejano is a fun spot with great vibes! We had a great time, drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is very good. Parking, however, can be a real challenge, especially on busy nights. Also, I really wish they never removed the billiard table, it was a great touch that added to the atmosphere. Still, it’s a solid place to hang out with friends, enjoy good food, and sip on drinks without breaking the bank.
Happy hour every day where you can double your drink order for two dollars or get a bigger size for that same price. Fish tacos were good, wasn’t crazy about the hot sauce on them but overall pretty good. Beers and food are a bit pricey for what they are but not absurd. Have been a few times and will continue to go. Fun vibe at night!
The food was ok. The prices for food and beer were cheaper than average considering what similar establishments are charging these days. No, i wouldn't mind going back. Note: there were no waiters, so you have to order your food and drinks from the bartender and they'll give you a number to place on your table for a staff person to bring you your good.
I've been wanting to check out this place for awhile and finally got the opportunity through a friend who was celebrating their birthday here. My review is based solely on the bar/nightlife experience here. Got here in time to beat the line, but once I got inside, it was a different story. They had an outdoor bar area but it was only open until 10pm. This place was already crowded AF to begin with, so when they closed the outdoor bar, it became even more congested. It took us 30 minutes just to get our drinks from the inside bar. I get it - it was a Friday night and the bartenders all looked super overwhelmed. What I will say is, the drinks were good and there was enough seating available outside. The service was subpar and I'm not sure I'll go back. It seems like this is the way it's usually been and it's disappointing because it's so close to home.
They have great specials throughout the week, like $3 margarita Mondays. But the margaritas are on tap, super sweet and obviously not fresh. The vibe is chill, lots of lawn games to play to keep you entertained.
Personally not for me. I can see why a lot of people come here, but I feel that this place tries to cater to a lot of different people. Emphasis on 'tries to.' Margaritas are tasty but weak. Food is alright. Security up front isn't all that nice. First time a security guard has been rude in my experience. Bathrooms are clean so that's nice. Bartenders are very busy yet still nice. Definitely a place to come with friends. Try to come a little early to get a table!
Ordered from here through Postmates and I was somewhat satisfied. 3-4 stars based on the 6 Tacos I ordered. 1. I was expecting a different style potato taco - one with crispy mashed potato in it. It felt like I was eating potato salad on a corn tortilla. The toppings were perfect though and the potato was definitely delicious, but not what I had expected. 2. Carne asada Tacos were good. Definitely had better tasting asada, but again, the topping were great. 3. Al pastor wasn't all that good. Fatty meat and I would rather go get al pastor from a taco truck than here. Didnt like it. $4 for a decent sized loaded taco. 2-3 would be just about right per person.
Came here for taco Tuesday. The taco Tuesday 3 for 5$ deal that they offer is very misleading to what they show on their social media. We ordered tacos and we were served mini tostadas with a flat hard shell. Don’t say that it’s a taco when it’s clearly not. If I wanted a tostada I would’ve ordered tostados but I wanted tacos. We asked the bartender about this and he said it was 5$ for a regular taco. And the meat was mushy too which is not my favorite. However, the big cowboy drink we ordered was delicious and they have boombox bingo on Tuesdays which was very fun. Also the female security guard talked very low when we entered. I couldn’t really hear her with all the loud music going on.
Not what it used to be before COVID. We ordered chicken nachos and beef burrito. The nachos had little to no meat and the burrito was mainly guacamole and some rice, no beans and no beef for some reason. Food was very poor and the drinks were too sweet. Had a headache from all the sugar and no tequila in my cup.
Went to this restaurant on Sat 3/19, everything was good until my husband went to get us drinks and the female bartender working that night asked him, why don't you tip? First of all you shouldn't be asking for a tip and its not mandatory for me to tip you. At this restaurant you have to get up and order food/drink, they don't bring them to you. Your bartenders attitude was unacceptable, if she was having a bad night then maybe she should have called out. I am a tipper but before I tip I see how the service is and how my food or drinks are. She didn't even give us a chance to taste our drinks before making that snarky remark. Maybe if she changed her attitude she might get more tips. Other than that I had a fun night since it was my friends b-day. Also your bar tenders should consider that most people don't carry cash since the pandemic started. Maybe they should have a zelle or paypal where they can get tips via card instead of cash.
You drink here...NOT eat. Hubby found plastic in his food, so we sent it back but when they brought it back it had cabbage all over it (we asked for no cabbage). I had to send my food back because the cook put cabbage all over my meal even though the menu said nothing about cabbage. Slow service; they had 1 bartender for a lot of the time we we were there. Here's why I gave it 2 stars.... Fun atmosphere for friends. They have games you can play; you can also bring your own. No A.C. inside. Happy hour everyday all day.
This place has gone downhill quite a bit. The food is not worth mentioning and the drinks are super watered down. It seems there’s not much effort involved and they’re just going through the motions to make a little money. Hopefully it’ll improve one day and be worth going to again!
If you’re there to drink and play game then this is a great place. The drinks are cheap and plentiful, lots of big tv’s showing various games etc. They have very few soft drinks though. When we visited it was regular coke or bottled water and that was it. The alcoholic drinks were decent and strong. The food however was really not good. The steak fajitas were flavourless and weirdly greasy with the veggies still hard. Everything was really bland. The only exception was the corn which was delicious. There’s street parking outside.
Music is very very loud inside and outside so it is hard to have conversations here. Bartender was very talented and efficient! Drinks are ok but very expensive even during happy hour. Went with a big group and two of us ended up getting pretty sick afterwards. Rice and beans were also really salty. It is a very cute place and some of thefood tasted pretty good but I would only suggest going for beers and a hangout spot where you're ok just listening to music.
If you are Texan, don’t come here!! It’s just Texas themed decor. There’s none of the food here. Also it’s a bar not a restaurant I don’t know why they advertise it like it’s gonna be a restaurant.
Tacos were awesome. Drinks were a pricey for how syrupy they are. But the atmosphere is awesome and a super cool place. UPDATE: went back 2 days later, and food was not good at all. Saturday it was awesome. Monday it was not at all. Lettuce on the bottom meat on top of the taco and looked like it'd been sitting around for forever. I guess only go on the weekends.
Visited this place with a friend on a Sunday. The set up is cute but that's all it has going for it. To begin with I had to go to the bar to order food, which took ten minutes after the fact that there were two bartenders who both saw me but didn't bother. I got the burrito with extra sauce which was two dollars more for something that they were giving out free!! The rice wasn't cooked and the meet was not chopped fully and hard to chew. The drinks were pre made and way too sweet. Never going back!
After given this place a few chances, I'm definitely not coming back. Bad service. Food is mediocre at best. Bartenders purposely don't make eye contact with anyone at the bar to avoid having to serve then and then they get upset when you have to use your voice to call them over. Never wasting money here again. 3 times was to 3 too many.
The place has alot of good things going. Great priced drinks as well as great atmosphere. But one thing that ruins it is horrible customer service. The bar tender with a beard I'm the inside bar was condescending, rude and even makes fun of you. This guy doesnt belong here. I'm sure he is goong to lose you a ton of customers. I will never come back here ever again because of him. Even if the prices are right and the food is great , there are a million other places with that and I'm sure they will treat you with respect. Will never ever come back again.
Waited at the bar for a while before being told that I needed to wait behind another guest in order to get a drink. I set right in front of the bartender and was never acknowledged. Completely disrespectful. I wanted to order drinks for the table because it was my friends birthday. Rather spend my money elsewhere. Total Bro Fest.
Hell no I will not be coming back to this place. They allow Trump people to come in here and display their racist propaganda by wearing those stupid red hats. It's incredible to me that that would allow this given the That they claim to be a Mexican place cater to Mexican people but allow racist propaganda in their establishment. Change your policies not to allow any racist propaganda or Red hats in your establishment.
Honestly it’s a shitty place. The attention is garbage, and NO RECOMMEND for the place
Shitty place shitty people. Go here for violence. Shitty bartenders giving free drinks to friends, then their friends start drama drunk off their ass. then under pouring people who ask for their drink to be refilled because they busy with their friends
This place sucks. Be careful there because some of the security guards are literally crazy, and they might take your drinks and accuse you of stuff that did not happen. The drinks are very expensive. I paid $30 just for two cups of beers. It was my first time there and I do not recommend this place at all.
Ive been here twice and "sense of urgency" of the employees is a huge opportunity. I've had to wait to order food while the bartender took their sweet time to complete other tasks. There is no prioritization of the patrons of the establishment and it makes me reconsider ever returning. Train the staff to work a little faster, the nonchalant attitude is a huge turn off.
Racist establishment. I was denied service because the bartender claimed i was flagged by security as being too drunk. The only interaction I had with security was showing my ID to enter after which I headed directly to the bar. I had two beers over the period of an hour at brickyard before entering EL Tejano, which is hardly enough to be considered so drunk that I cannot be served drinks. I tried to explain the situation to an older security guard, who was extremely friendly and understanding, to clarify the situation. The security guard went to speak to the manager and returned saying he was busy on the phone but that he mentioned the situation and that I do not look drunk at all. After the second time the security guard tried to speak to the manager, he returned saying there was nothing he could do and that management wouldn't clarify who raised the complaint with me. None of my friends were denied drinks and, as far as I saw, I was the only East Asian looking man there. The bartender even mentioned it may have been because of Asian glow but I did nothing but head to the bar after I was let in. I did not speak or interact with anyone but went straight to the bar with my friends. As mentioned earlier, the security I spoke with agreed I was completely fine and I was surprised at how quickly I was flag considering we had been there barely a few minutes before being told I was too drunk to be served. Along with security, other customers said I looked completely fine and were surprised I was denied service. Even if they assumed I was drunk because of Asian glow, which i don't believe mine is strong or a valid reason when I had just entered the place, there is no excuse for not attempting to resolve the situation after I was able to demonstrate that I was not drunk at all. None of my behavior would give off the impression that I was drunk and I was merely denied service because I was Asian.
Updating my review, i went last weekend my friend complemented the white girl security guard and tell me why she complained to the other security and got him walked out? Over a compliment?? Tejanos you need to get rid of that white girl security. 100%
I don’t usually write reviews, but what happened at El Tejano was beyond unacceptable. My friend paid for a drink and never received it. Instead of making things right, staff called security on us and we were kicked out—after they took his money. If they saw my friend wasn’t doing well, why take his money in the first place? To make matters worse, they physically pushed my lady friend out of the venue for absolutely no reason. It was aggressive and completely uncalled for. The staff was rude, unprofessional, and had zero regard for basic customer respect or safety. We came to have a good time and left feeling disrespected and ripped off. Never going back. Avoid this place if you expect even the slightest bit of decency. If I could rate them zero stars I would. But, it isn’t an option . Avoid this place.
Sound like a nice place to celebrate a birthday or so but per experience, once you get a little comfortable at the bar (totally friendly and fun) they have 10 security guard AGGRESSIVELY THROUGH you to the curb. They’re a no proper communication like hey I see you’re having to much fun etc etc it’s just straight aggressive assault. The security’s wear vest and a tacky Halloween costume like outfit and force you out. They take all your money and through you out asap. DO NOT COME FOR ANY CELEBRATION. They do not care for you.
I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience. The staff member at the door—an Asian woman—was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. She confiscated my friend’s valid ID without a clear explanation, even after we showed her another official ID with matching information to prove its legitimacy. It felt like she was intentionally trying to ruin someone’s night, and this isn’t the first time—she has given my group issues on multiple occasions, despite us always being respectful patrons. When we asked how to retrieve the ID, she told us to “call the police,” fully knowing they wouldn’t respond to something so minor. Her dismissive attitude and behavior are unacceptable, especially considering we’ve seen her let in people who actually cause problems, while we’re simply there to enjoy ourselves. I used to enjoy coming here and have had many great nights, but after the last two visits, I no longer feel welcomed. I won’t be returning unless this is addressed. If there is any way for management to contact me or arrange for my friend to retrieve her ID, please do so. We’re happy to verify her identity again if needed, but holding onto someone’s valid ID without cause isn’t just unprofessional—it’s completely unjustified
February 21, 2026 at approximately 1:00 AM I was waiting patiently in line for the women’s restroom and speaking respectfully with others in line. As we approached the front, a security guard abruptly forced the restroom door open with significant force, shining a flashlight directly toward us (as shown in the attached photo). The door was pushed aggressively into the women standing in front of me, and I verbally warned him that he was pushing the door into them. Instead of acknowledging the concern, he ignored it and proceeded to shine his flashlight directly into my face. He then allowed a different group of women who were behind us in line to enter ahead of us. My concern was for the safety and well-being of the women who were physically pushed by the door. I calmly spoke up because the behavior felt unnecessarily aggressive and unsafe. Following this, the security guard’s behavior escalated. While my friend briefly stepped out to understand what was happening and defend me, I proceeded into the restroom. At that point, the same security guard again shined his flashlight directly into my face and then escorted me out of the bar, despite the fact that I had not acted aggressively, violated any rules, or done anything to warrant removal. This experience was deeply upsetting and unjustified. I was respectful, compliant, and simply trying to use the restroom. Being singled out, intimidated with a flashlight, and removed without cause was alarming and unacceptable. I am sharing this because no patron should be treated in an aggressive, intimidating, or unsafe manner, especially when they have done nothing wrong.
Id give no stars if possible. Went a couple years ago for my birthday and a fight broke out inside, then went again to try it out 2 days ago and they kept my ID. Went back for it and said they didnt have it. Will never go back again.
Just had a terrible customer experience at the door. Unfortunately, I will never come here again.
Security was hella rude to one of my friends. One Security had told us to move to a certain spot and then an older man “security” came to move only my friend in a rude way and was threatening to throw him out. He did nothing wrong, there was enough room for the old man to get by but he was acting privileged like we owe him something. No other bar/club is like this security just moves around people not force them out of the way because he thinks he is owed something
this is bar is so boring, bland, dated, and straight. such a waste of a great space and location in my opinion. they screen you harder than the TSA at LAX before you can get in - invasive bag inspections, full body pat downs, and questions about the information on your ID regardless of your age. then you’re watched over the entire time by armed guards… absolutely freaky the bartender was nice, though he didn’t seem confident in the menu. i wish i didn’t have to give one star for this review because the one drink i had was pretty good (despite its price), but this is definitely a SKIP.
Came in and immediately this weird guy kept harassing the girls in my group. After repeatedly telling him to leave he then tried to mess around with a drink we’d ordered. We let management know and they responded by kicking out two girls from our group that he was bothering. The vibes were good up until then but definitely won’t be back since they’re clearly cool with that kind of stuff
