Opinions de Heavy Handed Studio City
One of the best, if not *the* best burger experience I’ve had the pleasure to enjoy. Good parking. Beautiful branding and extremely clean outside and in. The line was long, but moved very quickly. Clear menu with helpful server and very genuine team inside the restaurant. Once the order was placed the food was ready super quick. The double was perfectly balanced. Incredible taste and texture from the beef mix. Some of the other reviews which are giving 1-3 stars make for comical reading. This is America, so tipping culture shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. If pressing a button to define gratuity offends you, then maybe move to Japan. Tip defaults to 18%. In-N-Out is a drive-thru establishment and a completely different experience. You can compare, but there is no comparison. Both In-N-Out and Easy Street are fantastic, but for differing reasons. That said, Studio City is lucky to have restaurants like HiHo Cheeseburger, Easy Street and now Heavy Handed. They all coexist in the same market space, but offer different burger based adventures. And an adventure Heavy Handed sure is. The space feels like ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto’ had a romantic fling back in the 90s, made a baby and the love child is now a burger joint called ‘Heavy Handed’. I can’t say if that’s true, but I do know that this place is fun and the soundtrack perfectly matches the menu. The ice cream can be requested and paid for when you place your burger/fries/meal order, then collected/created when you’re ready. These ice creams are hand made and a work of art. Very grateful to have this new spot so close to home and blown away by how well executed everything was with our experience. I do hope everyone enjoys this place as much as I did.
Heavy handed opened up where Mister O’s used to be located. I wasn’t too excited for another burger joint, but after trying I changed my mind! The burger was excellent. They make their patties using ground short rib. I got the double but probably could have went with the triple because I was so hungry. My friend and I split the fries.
Delicious burgers, crisp light fries. Hospitality was above and beyond. Seriously floored. They were lovely. Also… Ketchup dispenser ran out and not only did The Person behind the counter notice and refill it, but she also brought over a couple of sides of ketchup to our table!!! it’s the little things. Thank you!
Great food and service they say there the best burgers in Los Angeles I can't say that's true I've tried alot of burger places and will say there one of the best I've had and I've only been to the one in Santa Monica California and it was good fries were a lil hard but the pickles are honestly the best pickles I've ever had there like bread n butter pickles but better the eating are was very nice I will add even have outside heaters to keep you warm.
Don’t skip this place if you’re looking for a rich, filling, yummy 🤤 smash burger 🍔. It’s made from short rib but tastes more like a burger with an extra flare of deliciousness! I had the double combo and my wife had the double. We split the fries and it was plenty!! The fries are amazing too! Great vibes! 10 out of 10 stars.
The staples; elevated. Smash burger and fries. Soft buns; crispy smashed beef. Classic cheese. Fries with that classic crunch, done in beef tallow. A mayo style dip that slaps. A great burger joint; either a great vibe, now in the valley — with their own parking lot and merch. Oh and alcohol. Plus, the soft serve dessert is made bespoke once you are done eating your main meal. Allowing for a great staged approach to ensuring it don’t melt. If you are looking for that burger combo hit, with an elevated but relatable flavor profile. This is the spot. Welcome to the valley Heavy Handed.
Good tasty burger. Nicely seasoned fries. Beer on tap. Dog friendly patio. Everything is in order. We'll be back.
About as good as a burger could get in my opinion. Ordering was easy. The clerk was professional, pleasant and explained their menu clearly for a "first timer" like myself. The food arrived swiftly and was perfectly cooked. Indoor and outdoor seating options were comfortable and clean. The overall atmosphere was bright and inviting. What more can I say? Great food at a reasonable price.
If smash burgers are your thing, the burgers here are consistently above average. Beer selection is solid. I'm a fan. Been coming here for about 2 years now.
**One of the Best Burgers Ever!** Heavy Handed was recommended to us by our Uber driver, and he was absolutely right! This was hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. My daughter and I each got a burger and fries and we still can’t stop talking about how good it was. The flavor, the quality, and the simplicity of it all made for an unforgettable meal. If you're a burger lover, this spot is a must-try! ---
Best burgers. Amazing loaded fries. The sauce is to die for. The pickles are very sweet, you have to be into that to like it.
Not sure how there are any negative reviews. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Easy menu. We got a triple with chopped chilies and a double lettuce wrapped. We both agreed it was better than in n out. It was a little pricey but worth it. The short rib patties are seasoned well, crispy and moist at the same time. The buns are buttery and delicious. They have a point system that you can redeem for discounts for your next visit. The price of everything is high right now and I feel themis was good value for money. Carl's jr is garbage and is more expensive than this place. The vibe here is cool too. Good music.Plenty of seating inside and outside. This is definitely one of the best spots in LA for a good burger.
Great double burger and fries! An actual smash burger, and with some tasty onions! I liked adding hot chilies to cut through a bit of the grease. The fries were delicious - didn't taste like frozen fries like many other smash burger places. Tasty meal!
Their beef tallow fried French fries are so addictive! I literally keep coming back just for the fries. Lol Their smash burgers are fire! The service is friendly and they are always helpful and knowledgeable about beer suggestions. The graffiti art the entire building is done in makes it a great spot for influencers like me to post to my 750,000 followers! They love my posts from here bc there is always something cool to look at. Lol 😆 They are always playing some quality tunes on the sound system, so always good musical vibes.
The food was delicious and flavorful. My food tasted fresh, the restaurant was clean, and laid back - which was perfect to enjoy a burger! Sam took our orders and was friendly, helpful and had the patience to explain the menu to me. As a first-timer, I'll definitely be comming back! Dont miss out on the ice-cream and different flavor beers. Pretty cool burger spot!
Absolutely loved this place! The burger was super fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor. Fries were golden and crunchy, just perfect. Great service and clean space too. Highly recommend for burger lovers! Also, I highly recommend to try their ice cream too!
I’ve been here multiple times since they opened up and it still shocks me at how good the burgers are here. We ordered the double and triple combos, which comes with fries and a cup for the fountain drinks. This place also has alcoholic drinks available which is an interesting idea for a fast casual place. My favorite order is the double combo. The burger Patties had an amazing crust around them and the flavor of the meat is one of the best. Fries are basic but good and comes with a little container of sauce. I didn’t get the soft serve this time but have ordered it in the past. In my opinion, the soft serve Ice cream was okay but all my friends really liked it so maybe see what you think about it. They prepare the Ice cream whenever you’re done with your food and ready for it, so it’s not sitting out there melting, I liked that idea, but it took a while to prepare. They also have a chocolate covered option. Service was good, nothing really noteworthy since it’s a fast casual burger joint. The ambiance has an interesting little twist here, in addition to the sound of groups of people having their own casual conversations amongst themselves, there is always some upbeat music playing in the background. How this place works is you wait in line first to place your order, you’ll get a pager then find a seat and wait to get called to pick up your food at the counter next to the kitchen. If you also ordered soft serve ice cream, you’ll go back to the counter where you picked up your food, whenever you’re ready, and let them know you’re ready for your ice cream, at that point you’ll just wait at the counter until it is prepared for you. There is a good amount of seating available, indoor/outdoor, it’s a very popular place so it can get full but we have not had a situation where we can’t find somewhere to sit. Haven’t ever waited in a crazy line either, the longest line has been like 5-6 people before us, they’re definitely keeping the people moving. The parking can get a bit tricky at times, they have a parking lot for themselves but it can sometimes get packed during the busy periods, in those cases there is street parking which is usually not ideal in the immediate area.
The food was phenomenal. Have to admit, took a bit long but it was well worth every minute.
The smash burgers at Heavy Handed ALWAYS hit! They're one of my tried-and-true spots that never disappoints when I'm craving some good burgers and fries. You likely are aware that LA has become quite the hot spot for smash burgers. And while there's a lot of solid options out there, a lot of them don't quuiteee measure up to the hype from social media around them. That's not true when it comes to Heavy Handed, however. I legitimately LOVE this burgers and find them both the perfect quintessential smash burger while also having just enough of their own extra flair to make it unique. The sauce is perfect, and I don't know what it is about the pickles, but their flavor and crunch here is better than just about anywhere else that I've been. Other options include fries, soft serve, and draft beers. I love all of them here - the fries are simple but beer battered to perfection. I also find the prices here to be quite reasonable and comparable to most of the other smash burger spots in the LA area - and the burgers themselves always hit. Parking can be a little tight, but there is plenty of street parking options. There's also a nice outdoor patio space to relax on after placing your order. Heavy Handed is legit, and I most certainly recommend!
Absolutely one of the best double cheeseburgers in L.A.; plus and interesting choice of beers both in cans and on tap. *And* they play old school hip-hop in the joint. The thing for me is they make it exactly like I like it; caramelized onions, house-made pickles, cheese and their sauce. But the short rib patty? ….🤤 *that’s* what gonna keep me coming back. 😋
Just as great as the Santa Monica location. Yeah parking ain't the easiest but it's LA so you'll figure it out. Love the space and merch section. They really spent a lot of time making a killer spot for the neighborhood. Best smashburgers out there and the soft serve is ELITE.
Delicious short rib smash burgers, beef tallow fries, heavy sauce, and dipped cones! Friendly service. I am happy they opened in the valley!
Heavy Handed in Studio City, the burgers are a standout with an amazing beef mix and perfect cheese distribution. The crispy fries paired with the sauce are a delightful combo. Despite a long line, it moves quickly, and there's ample parking. The seating area is adequate, and the cool, unique interior design adds to the experience. In the photo you will see 3 Triplet combos and 1 cheeseburger with a lettuce wrap.
I finally made it over. I watched this place being built and I thought wow this place might be pretty good, but I wasn’t sure. Finally made it in to try it out and I was extremely pleased with my meal. I ordered the double cheeseburger which was a smash burger with fries and a drink and I gotta tell you they gave you a healthy helping of french fries and the burger was great. I definitely give this Burger place a thumbs up because it was really good and well worth it. Only $17 for a double burger combo with a drink, not bad and by the way, they have a great ice cream menu. It was really cool and topped off the meal. Great they definitely deserve a Big Lou Thumbs up of approval!

Finally tried the smashburger. While I think Burger She Wrote is better, this is definitely better than For The Win. It's also a bit pricey; ordered the double combo with fries (which are excellent btw), with tip came out to $21 and change. Vibe reminds me of Dave's Hot Chicken except the music is louder.
Overall the smash burger was tasty and very cheesy. (As you can see, I forgot to take a picture before digging in). The meat had good flavor and the crispy bits on the edges are always a plus! They had a pretty good draft beer selection which included local breweries such as Everywhere Beer Co. If you get a combo you can make your drink a beer for an extra charge which is cool. Fries were pretty solid and came with a little side of the sauce in the burger. They have a patio but some people had a dog inside the restaurant which was kind of a bummer. It’s nice that they have a parking lot since it’s hard to find parking on the street in Studio City. Leaving was hard because we came before the lunch rush and people were double parking and just waiting for others to leave so I had to weave in and out around cars to make my way out. It’s nice to have a go to smash burger joint nearby, will probably come back if I’m craving one
3.5 Actually the meat is very good and if I was to come back, I would order without onion, special sauce and pickle. I then would ask for mustard and ketchup raw onions if they had. I think the onions were too sweet for my taste and the sauce was overpowering the meat flavor. The next burger I will try is going to be For The Win. But coming here from NYC Shake Shack is still my FAVORITE burger p.s. fries are incredible and 1 order can feed a family of 5
We went here for my son's birthday earlier this month. This was hailed online as one of the best burgers joints in L.A., and since smashburgers are having a moment, we decided to check it out. The burgers are solid, and will not disappoint any burger-lover. The fries were served hot, but we did have leftovers, so if you have kids, just get one basket to share because they are unlikely to finish them. The odd thing with this place is that the cashier asked if we wanted everything on the burgers, and we said we did, but requested the Thousand Island dressing on the side. Somehow, that translated to "sauce on the side and no grilled onions." We were disappointed that we didn't get to try the grilled onions, as I'm sure that would have added even more flavor to an already delicious burger. We also tried the ice cream cones dipped in strawberry. While good, this is the least-exciting thing on the menu, and you can pass without FOMO.
Now that I’ve been to both locations, I can say that they’re both pretty similar food wise. This location actually has parking and is much bigger with ample seating. It’s a very solid smash burger. It’s not overly smashed like Easy Street but their burger sauce is on the tangier side like East street which isn’t my personal preference. It’s served on a pillowy potato bun I believe. Fries are nice and crispy but lack that soft fluffy inside that you get with the perfect fry. $18 for a double, huge amount of fries, and a drink with free refills. Pretty standard for LA. Burger is not humongous but you’ll be full. Saw a lot of people getting their ice cream cones dipped in chocolate which looked amazing so will have to try that next time.

Food was pricey and size kinda small but the burger it's self was awesome I ate it al and that's not easy to do.
Heavy Handed in Studio City is amazing The **Heavy Fries** are absolutely delicious crispy, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. The grilled onions and pickles add the perfect touch of sweetness and crunch, and their burgers are incredible juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Plus, they always have great music playing, which gives the whole place an awesome vibe. Definitely one of my new favorite spots

Good Burger, Bad Value. The burger was really good, but that's the only good thing I can say about this place. Waited in a long line to order and then after ringing up the already expensive order the display prompts for a tip which defaults to 22%! Just to be clear this is like a fast-food joint as one waits in line to order, fills one's own drinks, and then returns to a counter to pick-up food order when it's ready -- and they wanted a $5 tip for that per person! They have beer, but it seems like a weird atmosphere to drink: lots of kids and families, the tables are not comfy and it's mostly bench seating, and though sports play on multiple monitors there's no game audio but instead overly loud music plays throughout. Not sure when I'll return as if I want fast food I can get In-n-Out for about half the price and when I want to go watch a game or socialize with friends I'd go elsewhere and get a full menu and actual service for not much more.
I had super high hopes for this place but I was disappointed by the burgers. The fries were really good but the burger was a miss for me. I will give it another try before I give up on the place. I would definitely prefer Easy Street and For the Win over Heavy Handed. Last but not least parking is a huge problem. Small lot and if you pull in and can't find a spot you have to back out onto Ventura to get out.
Alright so I had heavy handed about a month ago, I thought it was pretty good. But, I decided to order a couple nights ago, and I was pleased to find A HAIR inside my box of fries. As one could say, life could get tragic, but, the fries were also soggy. The burger itself was lukewarm, wasn’t too bad. This disappoints me, because I had a pretty good experience in person, but after finding out that there was a hair in my fries, I won’t be going back.
I guess you love it or something else. The burger was kind of greasy, maybe it was because of the cheese, not sure. And pickles were either too salty or kind of too much of it.
Lauded by the Times as the place that will make you like smash burgers again, I had to give it a try! The service and attitude is super dope! Very polite, quick and courteous. The chips were slightly over done and lacked any sort of flavor. The burger patty itself was tasty, the sauce was too chunky and a little chalky with no real definition, the bread was nice and soft but didn't stand out. Altogether it wasn't a "WOW" burger but it was definitely much, much better than Easy street but not as good as Burgers Never Die. They're worth a shot if you're in the area and hungry. If you liked my review please give me a thumbs up 👍🏾 to let me know! Follow me for more fun reviews. 🙏🏾
The Service: Efficient! They don't accept cash. The Food: Order at the counter. Pick up at the bar. Basically one type of burger, single, double or triple patties. Sorry.... no lettuce no tomato & no raw onion in their burgers. Maybe because no vege in the burger, it tastes too greasy with meat & melted cheese. However, huge portion of crispy fries! BTW, they sell beers here! Dessert they have on the menu is ice cream (3 different flavors). Tons of TV for sports in the restaurant. The Parking: Private parking lot (free) and street metered parking.
I had higher hopes for this place. The burger was teeny and the fry quantity was massive. I ate 1/3rd of the French fries because the salt overload was hurting the insides of my mouth. The burger would have had more potential if it was just a little bigger. I found it highway robbery to pay $20 for that meal. It was tasty, but less than 3 bites worth. I’ll go to Shake Shack or For The Win for my burger fix from now on.
Kinda sad burgers. Dry on the bottom, wilted and crushed bread, with barely a brushing of their famous heavy sauce. When we opened the box of food we thought they forgot the toppings they were so flat. Turns out they were flat cause the 2nd patties were 3/4 out of the burger hanging on the side and they pressed the burgers together, maybe a bit too much For a bespoke burger joint, this didn't meet my expectations. Photos are after restructuring my burger.

The workers/servers there are phenomenal. They are very friendly and welcoming. They add to the vibes of this place for sure, which the inside looks very cool and clean. Their merch is very cool too. Was super tempted to buy some stuff, but then was extremely disappointed with my burger. Have been a few times now and if you remove all the hype the burgers don’t seem worth it. Also can run kind of pricey. The last few times I have gone, I usually forego the sides as it tends to drive up the price. Advantage they sell beer.
The Pros: So just want to start with the service is good. The staff is friendly. The vibe is very cool inside. I loved the funny movie posters. Presentation of the food looked appetizing. The fries (7.3/10) are good, I like it when it has a little crunch. Unfortunately can’t say the same for the double burger (5.1/10). I thought it tasted pretty bland and the sauce didn’t really make it taste better. Unfortunately that’s not the worst part, there was a part of my burger that was undercooked pink and raw. Bottom line -Way overpriced for the quality of food (Double Double Animal Style from in-n-out is half the price and taste way better) -Staff is friendly -Fries = 7.3/10 -Undercooked Burger = 5.1/10

The burger was so gross and soggy I couldn’t even get past 2-3 bites. The fries were very average. Nothing special about this place at all besides the advertising. Honestly wish I could ask for my money back because spending $15 on something you can’t even eat feels like robbery. Save your time and money and head on to easy street burgers down the street. I’d give heavy handed a 0/10 if I could. Gross.
NASTY. Bun had a plastic metal taste, fries average and so was ice cream.
Disgusting. That was the most disgusting burger I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’ve lived in Studio City for 10 years and this was my first time trying this place. It is an absolute misfit for the area. Everything around here is top tier, and this place does not belong. My dad was visiting and craving a burger, and I suggested this spot because from the outside it looks great. It looks like it has potential. Huge mistake. The burger itself was gross. Thin, sketchy patty with questionable meat, nasty melted cheese, and onions. No tomato. No lettuce. Just a sad, greasy mess on an extremely thin bun. At first glance it honestly looked like a Happy Meal burger from McDonald’s, and I haven’t had that since I was a kid, but I remember it tasting way better than this. When I say it was gross, I mean truly gross. I took a few bites and gave the rest to my dog. That’s how bad it was. The fries were also disgusting. Definitely frozen, stale, cold, and flavorless. I genuinely don’t understand how this place is open. Total disappointment and absolutely not worth it.
Went there feb 2026 and its not the same as when they opened! The attitudes are weird! And the burgers were nasty! I asked for grilled onions and she wanted me to imagine that i had onions when there was clearly little to no onions!! And pickles i didnt ask for and the patty was dry!!!
