Love this dive bar!! Located near Universal Studios. A low-key place to enjoy food and spirits. The place offers a variety of entertainment from bands to karaoke to comedy. My favorite place to be during football season.

Had a freaking blast at karaoke with Abby on Tuesday night!! The songs people picked had a great variety to them, relaxed atmosphere and everyone was friendly (but not obnoxious friendly, chill friendly) and non-judgemental. Definitely going back! (Did I mention the drinks are cost effective and delicious? 👌👌👌)

This place is a little treasure. I went because my kid had a gig there. I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the other music that was played there. The food was actually pretty good for a bar and the parking was fantastic (which is huge). But honestly, I was super impressed with the staff. My daughter played there again one Sunday, and the bartender (James) remembered my drink from the first time. I was so impressed. That guy made sure everyone - I mean EVERYONE -had everything they needed. All the staff was great. Plus, there's plenty of places to sit if you don't want to be right next to the music or if you are someone who wants to hide in the background. I don't think I would have found this place if my kid hadn't played there, but now I come back when she isn't playing, and it is a great little place to hear new bands and just chill and relax. I recommend UBG to anyone who wants to go and feel like you are in a "Cheers"-like atmosphere where people may even remember your drink or your name.

Date night was a hit at this place. Def out of my element but super dope! James did an amazing job serving us. By far the best Lemon drop I've ever had. Felt good and comfortable being there. Definitely left a lot later then what I was expecting too.

So a few things going on here: a mini art show on the outside covered patio, a packed bar area with adjoining pool area, and a music area with two awesome bands. The booker was open, inviting, and a great host. And the bands were first rate with an awesome, interactive crowd. Will definitely go back!!!

Celestial voice was jamming last Sunday . with Misplaced Fits rocking the scene. Black sabbatha made an appearance all around an exciting end to the week. Thanks to the bands for the great music.

Robin, oh Robin. You work so hard. You keep such a great attitude while doing so. Your food comes out faster than any pub I've ever been to before and when the bartender forgets utensils, refills and napkins you meet the need intuitively. Robin's hospitality belongs in the front of the house as a supervisor. Someone who can run a venue for hours the way she does, from cleaning to plating is an example of what a great full service restaurant manager looks like. I'll definitely be back again soon

My go to place, I take the bus to get here and it's worth it every time. There's alot of places to stand or sit. Stage is perfect for the events they have. I definitely recommend going Tuesdays nights! Lela hosts Karaoke at 9pm, Kayla is bartending and Robin is the cook!!

Went here after a meeting and happened upon their weekend brunch. It was legit good food in a dive bar vibes. Like actually delicious and unique and great flavor combos, all cooked to perfection. Esp the beef tallow potatoes. I’ve been here for drinks but never had their food before and was honestly surprised at just how good it was.

They have some really good bands. Waitress is cool, the drinks are most excellent, strong if you like them like that. We saw an awesome band named Macro. We will be back when Macro is back

Fun little place. Not exactly a 'dive' but rather an unassuming bar & eating establishment with a good layout where someone, say, a blue collar American or really anyone without pretense can order a beer, maybe a burger as well, and enjoy some fun live music at a reasonable price.

Used to play here all the time back in the day. Its the biggest little venue there is in the San Fernando Valley/Hollywood area. Apparently there's new owners and they have upgraded the equipment a slight bit, but the one thing that the U-joint always needed was a dedicated sound guy when it comes to live performance nights. Drinks have gone up in price...But still reasonable.

The cheddar grilled cheese was really good. Fried pickles could have been better. Drink was nice and strong for the money. Handicapped accessibility was good for a bar.

The quintessential dive bar experience. Dark, drab and tacky interior. Wonderful regulars and nice stiff drinks. There's a pool table, a patio and juke box. Lunch menu is...tolerable (nothing remarkable, really) but food service stops between 2pm and 5pm. Beer menu could use a craft revamp but otherwise, not a bad place to kill a few hours

Great place to see a live show. Hours vary but they usual open at 11 except for mtw when they open at 3 closing times vary from 12 to 1am except sun at 11. Bartender was awesome along with everyone else.

Neat little venue. Surprisingly great sound for such a tiny place. It gets difficult to order a drink when it's busy, though. He'll sometimes when it's not busy it's tough to get the bartender's attention.

Love this place I got the fry plater.. bartender nice. Great pool table. Clean bathrooms fun time went on Wednesday Open mic night with Sharon Groom who is a wonderful host and musician. I will be coming back and bringing more friends. Although I thought the bar was understaffed the bartender managed to pull it off... good times!!!

Small dive bar with a pool table and a stage. Really small. Typically just a couple people there. If you want to try open mic for the first time or karaoke, this is probably a good spot. Foods not great but definitely not bad. Pool table is a bit uneven and balls suck so if you take it seriously I would bring balls with you and don't trust the slow roll.

We decided to split their fried chicken and eat on the patio. The service was good, but the chicken was terrible. It was dry and seemed to be mostly composed of breading and bone. The cold slaw had little taste. Sorry, no recommendation here.

Charged $7 to get into the bar at 12am and left the bar at 12:15am. The girl who was charging cover at the door didn't even work at the bar. She was friends of the band. When I gave her a $20 bill she almost didn't have enough change to give me back, which tells me no one has been paying to get In. In 15 minutes I spent $25 and didn't even get a buzz. Never again!

ISSUE: Business Overcharged and DID NOT DISCLOSE their POLICY and PRICE increase to Customers This was my 4th visit to Universal Bar and Grill and I never really had any issues with them until Tuesday in March. My friends kept encouraging me and my wife to come to the Karaoke Night on Tuesdays. I know its customary to order food, drinks or both at a particular establishment if you're participating in Karaoke. The overall establishment was clean, and the bartender was Tessa. I decided to open a tab for food and drinks…I ordered $46 of food plus 2 soft drinks. While we were there the bartender Tessa asked us if we would like additional refills. My wife said yes and when I received the bill, I noticed I was charge for 4 Soft Drinks, when I only actually ordered 2 only. When I questioned my bill, I was told by Tessa that only the 1st refill was FREE and after that I was charged for each additional drink. We were never informed about the Company Policy that we would be ADDITIONAL CHARGE for drinks after the 1st REFILL. Nowhere does this POLICY STATE this in the Restaurant Menu or POSTED noticeably visible in the view of the customers. I would have re-consider the additional refills, if this was disclosed. When I reviewed the menu, it said that Soft Drinks were priced at $3.50, but we were charged $4.00, and this error is not something that I would have necessarily had an issue. But it was brought to my attention when I noticed I was double charged. When we spoke with the manager Miguel a few days later, he came up with the answer and said there was a Karaoke FEE of $0.50 per drink??? What??? The food overall was okay and nothing spectacular, the Nacho Supreme was somewhat small for the price. Nothing special with the Caesar Salads or Burgers. I wouldn't recommend this place for the food! RECOMMEND paying for the food and drinks as you get it and don't leave your credit card on an open tab, this way you can challenge the ticket before being charged. To note, we spoke with another employee, name Jez, she said that the drink refill was mentioned to her.
