Opinions de Futaba Tonkotsu Ramen Northridge
I have been coming to Futaba for over 7 years and have not found better tonkotsu ramen in the whole LA Valley. I have tried many many Japanese restaurants, always trying to find the best place out there, but I never leave completely satisfied. I actually stopped coming to Futaba for over a year and today I decided to bring my kids as we were near the area. Coming today made me realize that I truly wouldn't recommend any other ramen place as much as I would this one. From the moment you walk in, the service, the atmosphere, everything makes you feel welcome. However, the best part is the taste, I wouldn't trade it. It makes you feel like you just went to Japan; a very traditional and flavorful ramen. I also liked that although most tables are for 2 people, they accommodated quickly for my party of 3. They gave us kids cups with a lid (which was a perfect save when my kid knocked it over), little utensils and plates. I appreciated their thoughtfulness on that regard, it saved me time trying to keep them clean during their meal. Definitely a must!
I first tried Futaba about a year ago and haven’t stopped craving it since. I live out of state, but whenever I visit this is the place I beg to go. Intimate atmosphere with a lovely staff. Everyone is so kind and treats you like family. The food is out of this world they are masters of their craft. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. They are also really affordable; about $12 for a generous bowl of ramen. They play Korean popular music and anime theme songs at a comfortable volume which always makes my day. I love eating here alone and with large groups of family/friends.
This place is probably the best ramen I've ever had. I had the spicy miso ramen
Excellent and delicious ramen. Love the karage chicken it is so tasty and tender. Fried Octopus was delicious as well. This place is tiny with 7 or 8 tables plus a counter for 4. This place gets crowded and you have to wait for a table. Closed on Mondays. FIVE stars for food and service.
This is my number one go to ramen place! I go at least once or twice a month-sometimes more! The food is amazing and portions are large but not overwhelming. It is a tiny little place so on the weekends you can expect to wait outside and wait for your name to be called. Always a good experience coming here.
This place is amazing! If you enjoy a good bowl of ramen, this place is a MUST. The spicy miso ramen is really tasty, and the portions are great. I recommend the combinations. You will get full and still have lunch for the next day! And by the way, the service is friendly and fast!
If you’re in and around Northridge, you HAVE to try Futaba. This little nook has some of the most satisfying ramen I’ve ever had. With a menu that’s not too big and definitely not too small, there’s something for everyone. From spicy miso to Tonkatsu. Their Dipped bowl is one of my favorites but there’s some other strong contenders too!! Their service is always amazing too. Their outdoor seating is the perfect spot for a cozy dinner.
Absolutely THE BEST RAMEN!!!! I LOVE THE SPICY TONKASU. YUMMY. I have tried so many ramen places and this is the only one that satisfies. The staff is amazing, too. They even remember what every member of my family usually orders. Personalized, kind and attentive service.
So I was looking for some Ramen around town while I'm here from Texas. Not only is this place super close but Holy Cow is this place good! Atmosphere is like being in a small hole in the wall Ramen joint in Japan. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I have only sampled the Gyoza (pot stickers), Shoyu (Soy sauce) and Spicy Miso Ramen; but it was all delicious. They keep some garlic soy sauce at the table that goes nicely with your ramen. Come check it out.
Great Experience, Great Food, and they treat animals great too when you dine outside
This place is a hole in the wall, but honestly some of the best Japanese curry I have ever tasted! I go twice a year and it's amazing, once for my bday and whenever I am able to afford it. Prices went up but it's still good and the servings are ample. They could be better but I guess I don't go often enough to be a regular. Loved it so much I started making some at home and it's not half bad. They have anime pictures on the walls and lots.... I mean lots of those tiny and big Asian cats. You know the white one with the right arm raised above their head? Yeah that's the one. Anyways I have tried the ramen which is fire! They also give extra fishcake or extra (Naruto's) that's what we call them haha. The chef is nice and always comes out to say hello especially on Halloween cuz I go dressed in anime clothing. The lady is so sweet and always talks to us. The kid does a decent job of refilling our drinks when we are almost done with them so many thanks for that! I will absolutely continue to go whenever I can afford it and will always recommend it to a friend 💯😍
I love this place , honestly the most delicious ramen I’ve ever had .. been coming here for about 2 years and I can’t get enough of it .. staff is honestly great ! Super nice ! The atmosphere is calm ☺️ and no one is Hurrying u to finish your food . I really recommend this place .. sometimes it does get full because is super small but I don’t mind waiting 🙏 most I waited was 10 mns
We love their Okinawan Soba! Reminds us when we used to live in Okinawa, Japan. Their foods are always fresh, service is fast and bathroom is clean.
Nice and small Ramen place. Perfect for first dates or small gatherings of friends. Went here with 5 friends and had a small 5 minute waiting period, but compared to other places, the waiting time was better. As for the food, it was amazing. The ramen was of a high quality, and their appetizers were equally amazing. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking to support a smaller restaurant.
Delicious and authentic food. The rich flavor of the Ramen I got was immaculate. The salmon bowl and curry I tried were also really good! Customer service is always on point. Very satisfied with my last 2 visits at Futaba.
Food here was excellent, except that the boba in the Thai tea, I felt like, was not fully cooked because the texture was a bit off. Other than that, the food and the service were exceptional. The sesame dressing in the salad was very tasty. The takoyaki was perfectly cooked. The agedashi tofu is a must try. Salmon egg dish was melt in your mouth. Char siu was good. Unagi was really really good too. The seafood ramen’s soup was buttery. In total, we paid $158 with the 9.something sales tax. Then, there was a 5.something card surcharge.
The Spicy Miso soup was so delicious! And the proportion is so filling, I couldn’t find mine. My boyfriend got the black garlic tonkotsu ramen, and he loved it. It was really good I tried it too. Definitely coming back here for my ramen. Inside the restaurant is so beautiful and I love the music they play. The service is great, they check up on you and make sure you’re doing good. :)
This is one of the best jap restaurant ive been. The food was great and authentic, the staff are very kind and attentive, the Japanese lady staff was very nice. I love the food i ordered. Ramen was fantastic, small restaurant but very good food. I recommend. 😋
Perfect little corner to get some ramen. Menu was extensive for both ramen and other dishes - I was tempted to get some chicken curry or soba, but alas I stuck to my ramen. Had a perfect bowl and the broth was great - creamy, garlicky but not too heavy or salty. Loved every bite.
Ramen at its finest. Couldn’t really ask for anything more. They also had amazing karaage and eel dishes. It’s small inside, so you have to time your visit carefully if you don’t want to wait too long to be seated. However, if you were to wait, the ramen and the rest of the food are definitely worth the wait. We will be back soon to experience the rest of the menu!
Located upstairs, the place is small, but the service was fast, the staff was attentive, and most of all, the food was good. We tried the Futaba Tonkatsu Ramen (spicy) and the Pork Katsu Curry, and we will come back for more.
Small, intimate Japanese restaurant. Food was good and favorable. Had Spicy Ramen and eel bowl. Place is very small. You may have to wait for a table. We got there just after they opened. And we were the last table to get in. Located upstairs.
We found a gem! Very accommodating. We were taken care of especially our fur baby.
Came in on a Sunday afternoon - 4 people and got seated right away. Service was great! Friendly people and quick service. Ramen was great. It wasn’t the best ramen but it was very solid. Would eat here again.
A great find hidden on the second floor of a busy strip mall. Have had their curry twice now and loved it each time! The curry itself is really flavorful without being salty and the vegetables are perfectly incorporated. The katsu, chicken in the photo, is incredibly tender yet very crispy on the outside. Not oily or overly breaded and with a great bite all the way through. The side salad is yummy and I love the small plate of pickled veggies you get when you first sit down. Service is incredibly friendly and given the area the pricing is very reasonable. Especially given that the portions are quite size-able and well balanced. Will definitely come back and recommend you make the trip if you are on the fence.
Food is always consistent and satisfying. Friendly and nice staff. Must try everything. We have been going here for over 7 years.
Great places have lines. And boy does this have a line. Usually 30 to 45 minute wait time. The price is reasonable. 15$ for a combo which I'm sure will have enough to take out.
My favorite for delicious ramen. I got the spicy miso soup and crunchy shrimp

I love eating here! The service is always so awesome. I love that it's tucked away, and every time I've brought someone to eat here they don't expect that the restaurant is here. As for the food, it's DELICIOUS! My son is picky, and even he couldn't deny how good the food is. The ramen is amazing, it's so good and the portions are hearty. I usually end up getting a ramen combo with a chashu bowl. Now, I get to eat there AND have delicious leftovers. My family have tried other ramen places around and we keep coming back to Futaba because it's number one in our eyes. The flavor is always on point. Definitely recommend.
I've had ramen from a few different places both in the Valley and within LA (ranging from WeHo to Little Tokyo) and this is without a doubt the BEST ramen I've had. The black garlic ramen is scrumptious. The interior is real nice, it's small but it gives it a really cozy vibe. The servers are also great, very friendly and accommodating. You cant go wrong choosing this place for a nice bowl of ramen or even curry.
The atmosphere is so cozy. I had the black garlic tonkatsu ramen, and I really enjoyed it as much as the cozy atmosphere! The service is really nice! The servers are really fun to talk to. Overall, I will definitely come here again! Everything about the place is amazing!

I found the place after passing by it. It was busy when I went but the level of service was maintained. The tonkotsu ramen and rice bowls had a homemade feel to it. The Okinawa soba was amazing with the pork in it. Overall a good place to stop by.
It’s good ramen but I had better. Noodle quality is good, generous topping, but I feel that the broth is slightly too light.
I ordered the Black Garlic Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and the Chashu Bowl. The ramen was excellent. The broth was on the rich and salty side. If this is your broth type, you will love it. Very good flavor! The Chashu was fresh and delicious. Service was great!
We were craving ramen, and we love Maru ramen’s bone broth, but Maru isn’t open for Sunday lunch so we decided to try a competitor that is basically across the street. Once there we recognized the place as a place we were rather unimpressed with before, but decided to give it another try. Glad we did! The food was tasty, and good portions and value. I like that there was a g.ood variety of options too. Server was friendly -place was busy but didn’t have to wait too long
(Pic: Futaba Ramen). It’s a small restaurant but their food are great! People who work there are also nice. I went there during noon time on a weekend, and it wasn’t that crowded. Would definitely go there again!

I visited Futaba for my first time about 2 weeks ago because my friends wouldn’t stop raving about it. Let me start by saying that if you have any sort of dietary restriction, avoid this place at all costs. They don’t care at all. I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen with chicken broth instead of pork and clearly told my server that I didn’t want chashu in my ramen because of my dietary restriction. As I’m eating my food, what do I find in my food buried under some noodles and broth? You guessed it - the chashu I specified not to include. I was annoyed, but mistakes happen. My server apologized and said that she’ll have a new one made for me. I reluctantly agreed. When I got my “new” bowl of ramen, I noticed that there was a piece of a bamboo shoot that I had taken a bite out of from my previous bowl that was still in the “new” one, confirming that all they did was take the chashu out of the broth and add a little more soup/noodles to it to make it look like it was remade. Even after this incident, the server had the audacity to offer to remake it again. I told her to take my order off the bill because there was no way in hell that I was going to pay for dishonesty. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I will never be returning. TLDR: Dishonest establishment and mid food. If you have any sort of dietary restriction, don’t come here. Even if you don’t, there are plenty of better ramen spots in the valley and beyond.
