We have been looking forward to visiting The King's Head for some time so decided to pop in for coffee. There is a good carpark and fab outside area The welcome was warm and attentive the decor stylish and quirky the coffee superb so we stayed for lunch! For a small village the lunch menu is expensive and a little high brow, more of an evening menu. We were only looking for light bites so had a couple of entrees, we had the Ham hock, Norfolk Dapple Souffle and a side of chips. All of the food was well presented and very tasty although the chips were not very crispy. The vinegar in a spray is a genius idea! We shared a dessert of Lemon meringue cheesecake which was fab! All in all it was a great experience, we look forward to trying dinner a d Sunday roast, thanks Sara for looking after us

Excellent Sunday lunch! Beef superb and the pork was sublime. Veg perfect, well presented and absolutely delicious!!!! Best Sunday lunch we have ever eaten. The desserts are to die for all excellently prepared and presented! They do actually taste as good as they look!! Will definitely return.

Updated review: Amazing service and food! The lovely waitress gave us menu advice and then the owner came over and explained where our meal came from - fresh from his own farm! Impeccable every time 🤌🏼 We went for the Pork Tomahawk with cabbage and potatoes and it was incredible. If you haven't been you must go!! 2024 review: Amazing beef roast yesterday with the family! 7 empty plates 🤌 Lovely surprise inside the Yorkshire puddings too. Great service from the staff xx

Probably the best roast I've had! All ingredients from farm to fork and you can tell, amazing flavors.

We absolutely loved out stay here. The family run business is what makes us want to return. Harry&Gary were absolutely brilliant. The food was delicious and the breakfast was yum. Everything was homemade just how it should be. Our stay was also 5* with such a comfie bed. Towels smelt divine and clean. Thank you to the whole team, each and everyone of you played a part including all the kitchen staff as my husband loved your homemade bakewell tart. Peter & Karen you have a lovely family run business and we hope to see you all again soon

I had the most amazing dessert here. It was cheesecake with a Christmas pudding twist. Superb

We recently stayed at the Kings Head Inn in Brooke, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was great and the attention to detail in both the decor and service was impeccable. We enjoyed some lovely cocktails and drinks. The food was equally impressive; we opted for dishes from the specials menu, and they exceeded all expectations with fresh, high-quality ingredients - the pork chop special was 10/10 The service was exceptional throughout our visit. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to make our stay memorable. Overall, everything was excellent, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Kings Head Inn to anyone looking for a wonderful dining and staying experience in Norwich. We’ll definitely be returning!

Came over for a Friday lunch- 1/8/2025, Isaac at the bar, and the two Chefs - in fact all the staff were great. They bake their own sourdough bread. Today’s special - the Beef medallions were just perfect and all the accompaniments were healthy! The side dish of Kale and roasted hazel nuts was extremely healthy side dish. We loved the ambiance too. A big thank you for the hands that made the food and the ones who served them!

Wonderful dining experience. Lovely, clean setting. The Sunday Roast dinner is 10/10. Roast Beef is excellent, the effort in giving you 7-8 different vegetables is hard work to pull together but shows the chef’s creativity to use seasonal vegetables. The pulled beef filled Yorkshire pudding is a thing of beauty. If all this isn’t enough, the sticky toffee pudding is light but indulgent. Wonderful food,

Visited with our family of eight for a Sunday lunch and all enjoyed the experience which is surprising considering how fussy some of us are. Each dish had something that was a little be special about it to make it memorable. Great range of beers and wines as well. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. If we are in the area again we would certainly eat there again.

We went to the Kings Head in Brooke for a work meeting and was pleasantly surprised with the calm lovely atmosphere and stunning food. Waiter and Waitresses were all very pleasant and professional and the selection of Drinks was outstanding. Thank you for a fantastic evening and we will all be back very soon.

Let's talk about the food. Exceptional produce, looked after in the kitchen, well prepared, complimentary flavours, excellent presentation. Definitely going back.

Just love the newly reopened Kings Head! A beautifully sympathetic, modern, quirky renovation of an old listed pub building. A wonderfully warm welcome from all the staff, and nothing was too much trouble for this lovely young team, despite the fact that it was a busy Saturday evening and full of diners. The menu was varied and it was good to see local produce being used in the creative and interesting dishes on offer. Our food was served promptly, beautifully presented, piping hot and delicious and extremely well cooked. The home made puddings, especially the custard tart served with rhubarb ice cream, was exceptional, and the taste was divine.Obviously an excellent Chef and Pastry Chef are in the kitchen ! We and our guests thoroughly enjoyed our evening, in fact so much so that we returned for Sunday lunch and we were just as impressed with our roast dinner and the other menu choices on offer. The Kings Head is certainly not a budget place to eat, but if you want decent portions of high quality food, served in a lovely place, with great service, and a warm welcoming atmosphere, then I would highly recommend a visit. Well done to everyone at the Kings Head, job exceptionally well done .We are happy customers, who left with smiles on our faces, and will definitely be back again soon. Thank you !

Don’t normally do reviews but the food and service were amazing! I have to say it was one of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had. Food was cooked to perfection and plenty of it as well. All the veg was seasonal and we were informed it was grown on their own farm.

We visited The King's Head today, mind blowing meals, prices are fair as they source local produce and if you prepared to pay the price to support local business go for it. 5+ star service. We will definitely come back to enjoy high quality food. Compliments to the sheff, well done.😊

I visited today for the first time. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. We chose the roast beef and roast pork. The food was delicious with beautifully cooked tender meat, fresh vegetables, roast potatoes and an enormous home cooked Yorkshire pudding, accompanied by a chopped vegetable sauce, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and a beetroot wedge. Everything on the plate was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend and at a great price.

What a pleasant suprise. We were looking for somewhere to stay in the area and chose the Kings Head Inn based on its reviews, and it didn't disappoint, infact it exceeded our expectations. A family run affair, with the restaurant supplied from local produce from the families farm. The fit and finish of the restaurant and room was excellent, modern and spacious. We had an evening meal, trio of pork and the steak were excellent. The service superb and advice on the dessert spot on. The breakfast gorgeous too. What a gem of a place, loved it.

We had such a special evening here. The hog roast night was 10/10 – so tasty, and we love the farm-to-fork concept. The acoustic live music singer was great and made for a brilliant atmosphere. The staff were really welcoming and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!

J

We stayed for 2 nights and we were extremely impressed with the modern room with plenty of space in the bedroom and the bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic quality and it was even better to learn that most of the produce is sourced from the owner's farm nearby. The staff were so friendly and their pride in the food and buildings was clear. We had a fantastic evening meal. I highly recommend any dish with pork as it is from their own pigs and was some of the best pork I've ever eaten.

Went for New Years Eve lunch. Beautiful elegant food, wonderful refurbishment and a very nice waiter who was exceptionally efficient, obliging and good fun! Very well done to all.

What an amazing find 😍 Fabulous service, food, and room. Everything was spot on, nothing to fault. The whole ethos of their own organic farm food to fork was evident. Really lovely family run place The best burgers and breakfasts we have had ever. I have photo's to add. It's worth a trip just to stay here.

We came here for a birthday Sunday lunch and wish we could give them 10 stars! Staff were brilliant, so warm, friendly and attentive and the food was amazing! We will be back and highly recommend!

Great local gastro with a proper bar. Harry the Guvnor is a lovely chap an all the staff are friendly. The food is exceptionally good and locly sourced. The drinks are 'proper' ( bitter from up the road, classy cocktails and wine from a friends vineyards). This is a great pub for a swiftly or for an evening of complete pampering.

Sunday Lunch booked for our wedding anniversary. A very warm welcome, great service and as important, the food was excellent bith in taste and presentation. Highly recommend but make sure you book in advance.....

The newly reopened renovated King's Head was definitely worth the wait. The decor is welcoming, food was lovely and the staff were very pleasant and attentive. The menu offered a good range of options and the food was beautifully presented. Good facilities, very accessible for anyone with disabilities. Looks like a big seating area outside which will be great on sunnier days.

Our first visit back since pre covid and the renovation. The place is absolutely stunning 🤩 we were obsessed with the roast we use to come for years ago and since it’s reopened and a different chef the food is still outstanding. The food choice was limited, but I think what there was to choose from was a good selection. The only thing I would say is the sticky toffee pudding tasted just like a cake and not worth the £10 price but my main was beautiful. A little pricey but I believe the food was worth it for our anniversary. Customer service was second to none. The courtyard looks beautiful and will be coming back with friends for drinks. Would come back again for food but for special occasions only.

You can see why it took a couple of years to reopen. The refurbishment is of a very high standard. I just went in for a drink and there is a separate dog friendly bar for drinkers. Some nice real ales to choose from. Nice patio area some of it under cover. Large car park. Well worth a visit.

Just back from Sunday lunch. Food was fantastic. Ambience was lovely. But what made it for me was the service despite being very busy the staff were attentive but not rushed and all were very friendly. Nicest experience of eating out for a very long time.

R
Robert Jordan

The renovation is outstanding, and makes for a great eating and/or drinking alternative to the City. The Sunday Roast should not be missed. Service is exceptional, and on a par with the best Norwich has to offer, and the food is as fresh as it gets. Prices are ver fair considering the quality. Highly recommended.

Had a family meal, on obviously a very busy Sunday. The staff were all very extremely attentive and friendly. The meals were delicious. Very happy to recommend and will return.

It felt like we were welcomed into Harry's home, amazing landlord, and equally amazing waitresses Rosie and Sara. Highly recommend you stop for a bite to eat wonderful food and drink, Harry love's to tantalise your taste spuds with wonderful cocktails and a very nice pint too. I read a couple of the reviews saying Food price's a little high BUT I say you get what you pay for, good quality chefs don't come cheap.

T

Really lovely pub and the food is top tier. Shame there are still some poor reviews on here from the old pub, they should be taken down to reflect the reality of this modern place.

Went as part of a large party on a Saturday night. The staff worked tirelessly to make sure needs were met for the group. The food was fantastic with appropriate portions. Staff were friendly and attentive to the needs of our group. Loved it.

Had two meals here. Great pub, lovely food. Even my gluten-intolerant vegetarian step-mother found dishes she enjoyed, with a little bit of customization all thanks to the chef and very helpful waitress. Highly recommendable.

First visit to The Kings Head Inn. We had lunch and ate three courses for £30 from the menu du jour. As you can see by the five star rating given, it was absolutely faultless. The refurbishment of the building and it's facilities, is also first class. Would definitely return.

We have just enjoyed one of the tastiest Sunday roasts here that we have had in a long time. First class food with first class service we shall be back!!

Stayed here on our wedding night, nice spacious clean room, faultless homemade breakfast. Very accommodating staff, couldn't have asked for more!

M

We had a lovely meal with some amazingly tasting food. Would thoroughly recommend this place. Our only concern was, it felt very cold in the restaurant at the lunchtime and we all sat in our coats till we had a coffee at the end, which was a shame!

A

So much improved over the previous version in its last days before closure, but that was always going to be easy. The new staff team were really keen to impress and help, the young lady looking after our table was helpful and friendly. The wines we sampled were fine and the Jubel is a beer I really enjoy but perhaps not a great choice of beers. Claims they wish to be a leading Gastro pub are great but I'm not sure the menu which is quite limited will achieve that. The food was good though and I think decent quality, Im not sure it's that better than some competitors. The revamped building is really pleasant and a bar area separate from the dining area is good. We weren't seated near a doorway and it wasn't particularly warm and we felt the tables were quite closely spaced for our liking. The atmosphere, as the evening got busier, was good. Overall good first impression and I hope for success for this venture, it'll be interesting to see how it develops over the next few months.

J
Joanna Ponnampalam

Lovely food, great decor Nicely re-decorated pub Food and wine are expensive, well above average cost and one has to order potatoes and vegetables separately which makes the meal costly - sustainability of this pub therefore will be my concern as most people cannot afford to spend lots of money in the current financial climate. Perhaps something for the owners to consider however please note choice of food and wine great and food is amazing! Thank you

We were there last night. We asked if the hamburger was a thick one, or a smash burger. The waitress replied “quite thick, it may be slightly pink inside”. And we said we preferred that. Well… it was two tiny thin overcooked burgers. So I don’t recommend the burger unless you like it well done. But then, with the bill… we noticed the Service Charge was included. We asked “Is this the Tip?” And she confirmed. But suddenly, the amount she tapped into the Credit card machine was something random (109.85 instead of 100.51). Really weird! When I realized, she cancelled the charge and did a correct one. I don’t know… all of it quite strange.

This restaurant looks great and the staff are very attentive and knowledgeable about the food on the menu. I feel the food is over priced, it’s not awful but at same time, it’s not amazing. It is very well presented. We are not fussy eaters but there were a couple of things on both the fish pie and the lamb which tasted really unpleasant. I did mention the ‘unusual’ tasting elements to the waiter but my feedback would be, the chef needs to taste the food. We tried this restaurant but will not return.

Only ate didn't stay. Party of 7 (incl 2 children) for a 50yr anniversary meal on a Sunday. 3 were less than 5 minutes late. Restaurant and bar is newly furnished and is very nice, the outside area looks good too. Ordered drinks as soon as we all sat down, drinks came after a short wait. Ordered 3 starters and mains promptly, most ordered beef roast which was £21, we were asked if we wanted sauces and these came out straight away (bit odd as they sat on the table for over an hour). Starters came out about 15 minutes later and were excellent. Mains came out over an hour later, and as they arrived, we were beset with flies. I can understand that this is not something they can easily remedy but we seemed to be the only table suffering likely due to the position out of the air through flow as door and windows were open to reduce heat. The fly's (more than 10) constantly buzzing round and attempting to land on the food was obviously not great and put us all off our meals. A couple ate quickly some battled though and others left the food. One was ill while there and after, We raised the flies with the staff who said there was nothing that could be done, the owner did come over and apologise which was nice and offered a glass or wine to an adult (were driving) or a dessert (we just wanted to leave at this point) and declined. Roasts - kids was large (almost and adults’ portion) Yorkshires had shredded meat in (not a fan + one had the twine from the meat in too) Otherwise, the roast was well presented if not amazing, and a little on the pricy side at £21 per head, the exception was the cauliflower cheese (that was v good) The meals with 2 alcoholic drinks and some soft drinks came to over £180 and when I asked if there was any possibility of a discount we were told no as some of the party being late was the reason the main ways slow getting out and they can't control the flies. I can understand these points but we won't be revisiting. Areas for improvements - Communication, if we had had been made aware of the long wait we would have ordered a side for the kids. Service was a little slow (we often needed to prompted waiting staff who were then attentive) Stop the flies or offer to move outside and don't use the table / area.

I can't Fault the staff, they were lovely. Unfortunately though we were sat at a table in the middle of the walkway even though the restaurant was empty and remained relatively empty the whole time we were there, My boyfriend and I both had the roast pork Sunday lunch, and im sad to say this was not as nice as I had been told it should be. The pork was very dry,the vegetables were almost raw still, and it seemed like a mish mash of bits they had left over in the kitchen, all in all I wouldn't say it was a very enjoyable meal.I would also say that having the coffee machine in the restaurant whilst customers are eating is not the best idea as it's a very noisy thing and not want people want to hear whilst they are trying to enjoy their food.

I visited the kings head today 02.12.23 for a birthday celebration for a very dear friend. We were a party of 7. My friend was opening her presents and cards but we were asked several times if we wanted to go to our table. Once at the table we were given the menu and within minutes asked if we were ready to order, we asked for a bit more time and were told the kitchen was closing soon. A few of us ordered from the festive menu which was £30 for 2 courses. The start was good but the turkey main meal was tiny. I've never seen 2 roast potatoes so small. The food was tasty but the portion wasn't worth the money. The restaurant bar area was extremely cold it was -1 outside. The waiter said he didn't want to light the fire as he didn't want to smoke the restaurant out. There wasn't any Christmas decorations and the place lacked atmosphere. The waiting staff weren't very welcoming it felt like they were just going through the motions. When we asked if my friend's birthday could be cut a member of staff gave us plates but a member of our party had to cut the cake themselves. It was really the special birthday lunch experience we'd hoped for

Visited for Mother’s Day lunch. The renovation of the building is outstanding. The starter and main we had were ok, the dessert was simply delicious. Sadly what impacted the enjoyment of our visit was the lack of options for my mum who is gluten and dairy free. Also my non-alcoholic mojito was accidentally knocked over by a member of staff and I was not offered a replacement, I later realised when I got home I was charged £9 for 2 sips of this drink.

It really saddens me to leave this one star review but after how I was treated today by the owner I think its necessary. Myself, friends and family have frequented this place since it reopened. On quite a few occasions the food has not been great and last time as they will recall my girlfriend's and daughters meals were sent back 3 times. I parked my Range Rover at the pub Friday night as we often go in for a drink as we were eating at the Wildebeest for valentines. My intention was to collect my car Saturday morning. I collected my car Sunday afternoon at about 4.30pm and was faced with the owner Peter Burton who got out of his van came over to my car very angry and shouting at me that I had treated their pub Like a car park and told me how annoyed he was. I was too upset to retaliate as my Mother had been rushed in to hospital Saturday mornimg. I had been at the hospital all of Sarurday night and she had just died a few hours before. Needless to say we will not be returning to your pub and neither will any of our friends or family. As if this is how you treat people that tried to support your business then shame on you. Bear in mind that you don't know what people are going through in their lives and taking up one car parking space wasn't the end the world or deserved the anger or abuse you dished out. Kindness costs nothing after all.

Went for food 30/11/24 it was a poor experience as I’ve put on trip advisor. The food was ridiculously overpriced even if the food served had been edible. There was plastic cooked into the food! When I complained to the waiter nobody came to check or offer a plate change just left me with a plate of overpriced Rubish of snack proportions with Rubish baked into it. The steak was small and came with what I can only describe as 1 oversized chip that was reheated and tasted disgusting. There was nothing of substance on the plate. As per photo for a main meal £30 I’m not sure who would consider it a meal. Veg, potatoes etc all as extras/ side orders so maybe £15 to get potatoes and veg on top. After the main meal was so bad and they got our drinks order wrong (orange juice and an orange juice and lemonade) which let’s be honest a kid should be able to get right. The Rubish cooked into the food and and no apology I would have expected some effort or a conversation when I went to pay but no nothing. I asked the man that was behind the bar if the waiter had told him and he admitted that the easier had come back and told the kitchen and team leader? So multiple people thought that it was ok to leave us without checking in or offering to replace the plate. At this point apologies you would think (so would I) no I got it doesn’t happen often! When a senior member came over with our coats and asked how it was and did we enjoy it I explained it had been an awful disappointment and the food wasn’t good enough and there was Rubish in the food he said “well you ate it”! I can’t really believe that a venue that’s charging silly money for small pretentious meals can afford to treat customers with so little value. We sat next to another couple that had the same meal. They didn’t have the plastic waste in theirs but the size and quality was the same they also felt the oversized chip was reheated and vile. The tiny mushrooms on the plate were amazing so they can get some things right but that was about it.

S
Stan Garden

Went for Sunday lunch as a party of seven. Very disappointed, the meat was lovely, but everything else on the plate was not. The stuffed Yorkshire pudding was very soggy, I like beetroot, but not half a one with my dinner, all the other vegetables had issues and the gravy was awful, and apart from the roast potatoes the meal was just warm. Some of our party had the Fish and Chips the fish batter was awful and not very nice to eat. As a result we won’t be returning nor recommending…

J
James Shaw

Within 5 minutes of entering this establishment we found our three-year-old child playing with a 2 inch shard of glass he had found on the floor. Also I don’t mind paying extortionate prices for food if it’s actually good, But we both agreed the food was 4/10 at best and the portions were so small we was both still hungry after.
