What an amazing find this was. Dinner review - fantastic meal, the halibut was exceptional. You can also see how well run the restaurant is, which is no easy task. Super-friendly people and a warm inviting atmosphere. Will definitely be back if in the area. You're doing a great job guys!

We had lunch at the Lodge on Wednesday and it was so good, we returned for another meal on Thursday before travelling home! Food was first class and reasonably priced (lunch menu offers exceptional value) and was backed up by very friendly service. Couldn't fault it and we'll return when next in the area

We enjoyed a meal here with family on Saturday evening, there were 9 of us and this was a great venue to choose, especially as this was our first visit. The menu choice is excellent including the children's menu, the staff helpful and a great atmosphere. We will be back!

We had a Sunday lunch, food was very nice, and a good size portion on your plate 🍽, this place do welcome dogs as well, your best to book a table as they do get busy!! The girls that waited on the tables were well dressed but a bit of a let down for me was the waiter guy, he was polite but presented himself abite scruffy in appearance as shirt hanging out, just not what I would have expected from that place, but apart from that all very nice.

We visited for Sunday lunch, the food was excellent with friendly and attentive staff. For me, the portions were too large, so I wish they would offer the option of smaller portion sizes - I skipped the starter and desert due to the huge main course. It would also be a good idea if they added more parking (which was full when we visited), or at least painted white lines so people don't spread the cars out. Overall, a great place to eat.

Chosen as a family birthday get together. Booked later than had planned, but table available at time required. First time visit and very pleased with service, attention to detail with such friendly staff. Could not fault food. Excellent choices and portion sizes were good. It was busy with lots of tables taken. However staff were very helpful and welcoming. So pleased we chose this venue. Would definitely recommend 👌

Lovely place, great service with very polite staff. Food is amazing and I definitely don't mind paying for it. Remember, you get what you pay for, and you truly do get a fantastic meal. So far probably my favourite place to dine in Norwich. The dining area is also large and not cramped which is also an added bonus.

We didn't stay at the hotel but we were there for a wedding reception. Staff are amazing, nothing to much trouble. Food is delicious.

I'm glad we booked, very busy and noisy, not a place for a quiet time, unless you ask to be seated in the bar area. The food was delivered hot and was amazing. Even though they were busy, the staff were attentive and speedy.

Went here for lunch and wow! This place is amazing! If you haven’t been before please book & go - you won’t be disappointed! Service was exceptional and food delicious! The grounds were lovely & very beautiful, perfect on a summers day! Our new fave place! :)

Visited for dinner last week after enjoying the firms other venues. Good parking, a lovely building with open plan seating and a good service. 4 stars for service as the menu online didn’t match what was offered on the day (I was very excited to have a steak and ale pie which was no longer! But the pork and mash was top notch!) the building was a little cold but nothing a pint can’t fix. Thanks!

First time going to Salhouse lodge. A large amount of us attended for my Nan's wake, and I must say it was such a lovely atmosphere, the staff were so friendly and polite, the service was outstanding all round, we were all very warmly welcomed. The music playing was great and it was just at the right sound volume. The food was the best food I have ever had for a buffet, especially for a wake! There was so much food, and such a different varitey. It was always checked on and replemished if need be too. We were Even given containers/foil to take the left over food home, which was great, much better than getting wasted. The area we had was so comfortable, big, relaxing and very cosy. A very well organised place for such an event on a sad day. From start to finish it was superb.

We visited The Lodge at Salhouse to celebrate our wedding anniversary this summer and had a really lovely evening. Although we booked quite late via OpenTable, everything felt relaxed and welcoming when we arrived. The setting is beautiful, comfortable, spacious and calm and the service was attentive without being over the top. The food was genuinely top notch, and a really thoughtful touch was the little “Happy Anniversary” dessert we were given at the end, which made the evening feel extra special. Not cheap, but not expensive either, just very good value for the quality, service and overall experience. We’d happily return when we’re in Norfolk again and would highly recommend it.

Took my parents here for their birthday. One was 80, the other 79. What a lovely place. Staff were all great and very attentive. Food was awesome and can't very quickly after ordering. Thank you so much for asking if we were celebrating and bringing out a happy birthday board for my parents. Would highly recommend going here if you haven't been, and if you have then you already know what a gem it is. Thank you to everyone for making it a memorable dinner celebration.

We came here last night for dinner and all I can say is everyone’s reaction was wow. The food was hands down some of the best food I have eaten, the quality and quantity of the food was phenomenal. The staff were lovely and the restaurant itself is clean and beautifully decorated. Couldn’t find any faults if I tried.

Lovely venue plenty of space good menu selection lovely staff. Don't forget to charge the table lights! We struggled to read the menu it was so dark. Food was well presented and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be booking again for my dad's 80 early next year.

Went for Sunday roast best one I've ever had. The staff were excellent, attentive and seemed to know when they were needed The setting us beautiful and people have said how ni e it us to sit outside on a nice day

Went for Xmas eve lunch, first time visiting, and what an amazing place, felt really Christmasy, the staff were really lovely, the service impeccable and the food, oh my, absolutely delicious. Could not fault anything and will definitely be returning. Merry Christmas to you all, absolutely outstanding

We visited for a mid week drink with friends who recommended The Lodge. We hadn't been before but it's a beautiful place, we had a delicious IPA and chat with Rob who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu looked very good, and the seafood specials sounded delicious. We will definitely be back. A hidden gem and only 10 minutes from Norwich, ideal!

Simply the Best Food and service. .We love this place. If your in Norfolk its a must visit!

We had a family celebration meal for a 60th Birthday. The drinks service was prompt with the staff member being on their first day. The menu choices were good with a delay on one side dish which we were not then charged for. All mains well presented and generous in size. The desserts were a bit disappointing with hard commercial-looking pastry case to the lemon meringue pie and an inedible shortbread with the posset. Had to ask for the bill a few times as was forgotten.

Had a nice meal, but was shocked as the Ladies was full, so i jumped in the disabled toilet, good job I did as tap water was swivelling could not turn it off, hence running fair amount, so good job I came when I did. The toilet in invalid toilet are dirty meaning the skirtings boards, could be much nicer if cleaned especially for the disabled

Busy restaurant, which is normally a good sign and we were not disappointed. We chose the outdoor seating area which was nice. Good selection on menu. A special mention to Harry who greeted us and served our drinks. Very welcoming and friendly, an asset to the lodge.

Booked 4 weeks ahead for a Sunday roast expecting great things. We were rushed in and out within an hour and the restaurant felt more like a dining hall with everyone crammed in next to each other, it was also ridiculously loud. Not a great experience for what could have been a lovely Sunday evening.

Went in today for a Sunday dinner and here is what we thought, friendly staff, food was cold, very dry as hardly any gravy, we did try to get snow more gravy but nobody heard us as they were busy 🤷🏼‍♀️ I did say when I went to pay and he did take off £7:50 but even then it was not worth the money. Very disappointed and will not return

Christmas meal with school friends 16th December 2025.We go every Christmas and have never complained before. Very disappointed yesterday, no sprouts, we had to ask for them, when they came they were inedible, Rock hard, I stuck my fork in one and it ended up across the floor 😳 soo called roast potatoes were soft and meal was cold half way through the meal. A Tiny piece of Christmas pudding. Expected more from such a reputable restaurant. Table was soo small, more suited for two people not 4. Staff Lovely and friendly. Very limited in Christmas decorations in actual dinning room, more interested in getting as many tables in as possible 🤔

Went for Sunday roast with my husband and son, somehow they got my husband’s order wrong, he ordered roast beef and asked for a portion of lamb ribs on a separate plate but ended up with a mixed roast which included pork and crackling that he does not eat so went to waste and when he mentioned it the waitress was apologetic but no one from management came to apologise which would’ve been appreciated. I ordered roast beef and asked for it “well done”, big mistake, it was like eating boot leather and the Yorkshire pudding was so over baked it literally crumbled when I cut into it. Only ended up eating the vegetables and 1 bit of beef before giving up. Thankfully my son enjoyed his meal but 1 out of 3 is not great. We will not be returning.

We didn’t stay the night to rate the rooms. We was only booked in for a meal with friends on bank holiday Monday a lovely looking building very busy and a prime location. We was greeted with warm welcome smiles and reviews that we’ve seen about the place I was optimistic that this was gonna be a great experience But from there, is where all the positives ceased. I didn’t mind that we had to wait for our table as there was a nice area for us to sit and have drinks whilst waiting. But unfortunately when taking orders it did seem rushed. Never approached at the table with regards to if we want drinks. I wish I’d asked with hindsight whether the staff had any recommendations on food as me and my partner both picked the Lebanese option which was very below standards to be Frank extremely poor just a store bought flatbread with some barley wheat and a no-frills chicken kebab which I could’ve been served in my local kebab shop although the lamb shop was seasoned well as for our friends again as the menu read their meal options look to be amazing choices and the slow cooked beef did look amazing, but the Rosti that came with it I can only imagine have been cooked several times. Another dining member also had issues with her meal she had What was like battered prawns but they were more like brick prawns because if she had picked it up and thrown it would’ve gone right through the Window needless to say she didn’t eat them for a risk of cracking her teeth. maybe it was our fault. I should’ve asked for the specials But all the specials were fish on the front board, and I didn’t go there anticipating to eat fish maybe it was my fault in this regard. We missed out on the hand cut chips because we had fries sent. Never happy when apple crumble and custard isn’t an option on the menu but that’s a me thing and irrespective of my rating.

Disappointing and concerning. The lodge used to be my favourite go to restaurant where I'd happily dine multiple times a month. I don't know if the chef or managers have changed but it's not the high quality place it once was. Visited tonight, wine under measured by a fair amount and considering it's £13 a glass, it should be on point. Two meals we ordered were priced higher on the till than the menu. I was told the menus were incorrect .. In my line of work you get the advised price, but again I let it go. Miscommunication of where/how to ordered for no one to come to us. But more concerning me and my son both had the chicken satay skewers. We couldn't really see our meals outside by the time it came out but most of the chicken went to the dog because it was fatty with grizle. I bit into a chewy thick bone joint which immediately put me off. No meal check. I feel this was random chicken bits wrapped around a skewer but not trimmed of less appealling bits. More concerningly both me and my son have experienced sharp stomach pains before even making it home to Hoveton! Both of us with upset stomachs and my son still in the bathroom! I doubt we'll be back for the foreseeable future. What ever is going on here, please go back to your high standards after opening I am beyond disappointed. As a result of dining here my son had the next 3 days off school and not a single response from the restaurant.

Extremely disappointed with the breakfast at Salhouse Lodge today, waited over an hour for our food, kippers were overcooked and overall food was very disappointing- despite saying we were not happy with the service and food- staff were not concerned. I will definitely think twice about going back to Salhouse Lodge- a shame because a month ago I went and had one of the best breakfasts I had ever had, which is why we took family members today-felt so guilty for taking them- absolutely gutted.

Food is awful , shared my review on tripadvisor also about the staff in the restaurant being annoying , the steak cesar salad being 60% fries , the pork belly was so tough i took it home for the dog , definitely the worst restaurant in the chain i will never eat here again
