Worth a visit. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, great selction of drinks, great food. We had vegetable risotto - packed full of flavour, fresh - would eat another serving!!!! Chicken burger - soft toasted brioche bun, succulent lightly battered chicken burger - Yum!. Definitely worth a visit. WOULD RECOMMEND. we will be back to try the sunday roast!!!!
Outstanding food with a seasonal menu which changes each month. We had baked feta with honey and sesame to start which was absolutely divine! (Should come with a spoon to drink the honey at the end ;-) ). Then filet steak with homemade potato chips served with wild mushrooms, roasted vine tomatoes and the most delicious peppercorn sauce for main. (The photo really doesn't do it justice). Topped off with a delicious creme brulee for dessert. And alongside all that, the most friendly and welcoming staff which really made our evening. Can't wait to go back again next time!
We wanted somewhere nearby with a relaxed atmosphere, good food and drink, and the Cricketers was perfect. They were really helpful in dealing with a food allergy and making sure it didn't impact the meal. Warmest welcome, generous portions of great food, and a perfect pint. Can't really ask for more. Top tip - the cheese and meat sharing platter is outstanding value and a good sized starter for 3-4 people.
This pub is a proper gem! The staff are friendly and super helpful. The food is tasty and served in generous portions. They cater for children and always give our dog a fuss. My last visit was for my birthday with my girlfriends and we had a wonderful steak lunch! I do recommend calling ahead to book as they get busy.
Stayed in Aldborough village for a week's and visited the Cricketers Arms twice. Once for food and once for a couple of drinks. Friendly staff, tasty food and a pleasant atmosphere inside for eating. Nice outside area to have a peaceful drink with view over the green. Excellent pub!
Wow what a lovely country pub, the attention to detail with the table settings and decor is lovely. The guggle jugs are a really lovely touch and have now been purchased for home 🤣 The food and service was excellent. The atmosphere is really friendly and very welcoming, if your staying close by do not miss visiting the cricketers on the green.
Kent and the team were fantastic and so accommodating. We had a baby, a child, a dog and a gluten free person with our group (so not an easy one) and yet the team were a dream to help make it so lovely for us and met everyone needs perfectly. We were also a larger group at 10 of us, given it is a small place for them to sort us out a table at short notice was amazing. The food, well what can I say apart from truly sublime, some of the best food we have tasted. Would highly recommend a visit and we will definitely return.
This is a busy place so make sure you book in advance. They only have a small dining area but it's perfect. They fitted us in before later diners which was considerate. The food was great and very tasty but it's a little pricey. The beer and wine was great and overall it was a positive experience.
Found this little gem of a pub purely by accident. Dog friendly provided with water and biscuits for our little fur baby. Very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Food was fantastic freshly cooked, plate sizes are big. Service was attentive, highly recommend.
First visit today and we weren't disappointed. Staff and service great. We chose the steak sandwich followed by homemade icecream. Both delicious.
Great occidental find after a long day in the sun. Beautiful setting in a small village overlooking the Green. Friendly welcome and, although busy, we’re able to fit us in for an early dinner. Food was well presented and tasted amazing. Such a great village pub made us wish we lived there. 5🌟service. Great end to a lovely day !
Rammed today for the village fayre! Rightly so. Great food. Wife loved the crab salad. And coleslaw. Sublime. Fried chicken for me and cheesy fries were amazing! Been a few times. Should come more. Burgers outside. Perhaps another beer or two outside to take the pressure off the inside bar but that's hindsight. Great pub. Love it. See you soon.
What a lovely lovely pub. Cosy with a fire. Utterly delicious food and the most friendly staff. Thank you
This is my local and has been for 8 years. What Kent, Julie and the team have achieved in the last 2 years has been phenomenal! There is always a warm welcome, the food is out of this world. The little touches that are uniquely theirs make every experience memorable. I’m so proud to bring all my visitors along to enjoy it too. No one is ever disappointed. Can’t express how blessed we feel to have this amazing pub on our doorstep.
Really good food…souvlaki chicken was highly rated by Mrs J, while the burger was honestly one of the best ever, along with perfect fries. They also serve a good selection of beers in a nice cosy atmosphere.
We didn’t have food but the beer we were served (Grain 318) was in tip top condition and there was a great variety of local beer to choose from. Absolutely stunning inside and out. Roaring fire lit, happy welcoming bar full of people. Clean and classic pub furniture. Spotless loos. Always a win. Just a bloody perfect village pub.
What a wonderful pub/restaurant. We visited with friends who had been before and we were delighted they thought about taking us for a visit. The atmosphere and decor of this delightful pub is comfortable to drink in and with an added touch of elegance when dining. The real fire was on when we arrived giving a cosy welcome. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive, thoughtful and fun. The food was delicious, we all agreed we could have eaten anything from the well thought out menu. Our pals recommended the home made ice cream and we did imbibe! Much to our delight. We also shared a crème brûlée (why wouldn’t you). This is a delightful village asset and also a recommended visit to anyone in the surrounding areas. You won’t be disappointed. We look forward to a return.
Food excellent as the menu changes monthly. I booked table for dinner for a friend and myself. I asked for an Irish coffee which was not on menu but landlord went out of his way to organise this for me. Five stars all round lovely staff and very attentive. Will definitely be going back again!!! Well done
A cosy pub and restaurant in a picturesque village setting. We received a warm welcome and the atmosphere was wonderfully festive with a Christmas tree, lights, wood burner and the smell of mulled wine. Excellent service and first-rate food. Well worth a visit.
Had the most amazing meal here. Lovely chilled pub with friendly staff and the food was superb. Could not have asked for a better meal for our date night. We will be back again im sure.
This pub was a "must" visit on our cycle route as an ancestor of my wife ran the pub in the 1890's. Fantastic view of a picture postcard English village from the outdoor seating. Friendly member of staff and the drink prices were ok. Will have to come back and watch a cricket match on the village green!
Excellent food & service at lunchtime on a Saturday. Cannot recommend highly enough. 5 ⭐
We went with another couple on a Thursday evening and were immediately struck by the friendly atmosphere and characterful interior of this cheering establishment. Kent and Julie run a very nice pub, helped on the evening we were there by an efficient bar lady. The menu is thankfully short, imaginative and enticing. When the meals arrived they had been cooked with care and presented with pride. The kitchen uses fresh local produce, cooked to order. The results are very tasty and enjoyable dishes. It's certainly worth a detour to find such a nice pub...excellent atmosphere, good range of beers, fine food and good service. Highly recommended.
We went there last night, they were able to accommodate 13 of us fairly last minute which in itself was wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and cosy and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier, especially the landlord. The menu is limited but the food was high quality: freshly made and delicious. The kids meals were very generous portions. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay for dessert as I’m sure we missed out on some wonderful puddings. Would highly recommend.
Another fantastic meal at this quintessential country pub. Just had the Jamaican jerk chicken and rice, which was flavourful with a nice little kick, and who knew grilled melon was so good! The burger here is much more than ‘just’ a burger and the portion of fries with it was larger than most other venues. The salted caramel Roulade was sooooo good! Yet to have a less than perfect meal here.
Lovely pub feeling with very friendly & helpful staff. The food is unbelievably good, you'll get big portions but nothing goes to waste if you can't finish it. I would definitely recommend this place and I'm looking forward to visiting it again. If I could give it more stars I would.
Our favourite pub in the whole of Norfolk. We're massive foodies but also love a proper pub that feels homely and friendly. Lots of pubs really struggle to get that balance right, but not The Cricketers, they're superb at it. The food is incredible; simple, wholesome food done exceptionally well, with complexity and depth of flavours that I haven't found in any other pub (not just in Norfolk but across the UK). The service is also superb; friendly but not overbearing. Basically, they can do no wrong in our eyes (and as ex-restaurant critics, we really can be very critical). We can't wait for our next visit.
Would definitely go back! Lovely Sunday lunch, brilliant staff and very attentive. The pub itself is beautifully cosy and welcoming, true British pub with exceptional food! Thank you so much!
Delicious smoked haddock chowder, warm ambiance, lovely pub
We come here every so often, and every time the staff are so warm and friendly and the service is fantastic. It is lovely to see a proper village pub continue to be loved and lovely. The lovely people who own The Cricketers have really done well. Thank you so much!
Excellent food and nice people, great traditional village pub on the green with very good food
Charming village pub with a good choice of drinks and a good reputation for food. Staff and locals are really friendly. Dogs welcome.
Had an amazing meal here last night. Hubby had the hand pulled spring lamb starter, which was delicious. Could have eaten a double portion of that with some hand cut chips! Everything else was tip top too. Service, atmosphere and quality at reasonable prices. Will definitely be back when next in the area. Thanks. 👍
We have been coming to the Cricketers on the green for over a year now and we have to say that it is one of the most welcoming and beautiful pubs we have experienced, and we have experienced a lot of pubs in our time!!!! Julie , Kent and all the staff are so friendly and a real good laugh at all times! The food is out of this world! Always recommended to all . Xx
We went for a family meal today. We had four generations and everyone had a great time. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. Highly recommend.
This was our first visit and we loved it. The food was excellent and beautifully plated. Never thought I would say this myself but the salad was awesome that came with my meal. A nice choice on menu. Staff and everyone friendly and welcoming. We will be back.
Superb! Really friendly, helpful team with a good sense of humour as well as top customer care skills. Excellent food and a really lovely atmosphere! Loved it. Would love to come back. It's just how a good village pub should be. Seats at the bar, woodburner, TV, comfy chairs. Something for everyone. Little extras that don't cost much but add to the experience, like candles and flowers and complimentary shots after food. Totally got it right here!
Excellent lunch, great customer service. Beautiful country pub, well worth a visit!
What a brilliant evening (yet again) at The Cricketers on The Green. The food was fabulous and the service attentive, but not invasive. They class themselves as 'the quintessential English pub'...I would tend to agree with that, with a bit of quirkiness thrown in for good measure! We look forward to eating there again very soon.
The Aldborough Black Boys is a well known (Famous) pub on the Green (Cricket Pitch). I had a really pleasant experience in the Black Boys today the sun was out, it was hot. A nice cool OJ and Lemonade with ice was the order of the day. No Cricket on the green today but I hear the local team is very good. The landlady was very nice as was the other lady behind the bar. We didn't try any food today but on previous occasions working outside the aroma of steak and ale pie cooking has almost been too much. It's a very nice Pub and well worth the visit, thank you to all that made us feel most welcome.
Lovely pub great choice of beer. Edit: lovely meal tonight, Lobster Risotto was fabulous. As we're the lemon cheesecake and rum and raisin ice cream. Free spirit at the end of the meal was a nice bonus, pity the cricketers last night drank all the good whisky and I had to put up with Famous Grouse! 😉😊 Still enjoyed it 😄
After our countryside walk with friends we had lunch at the Black Boys, this was our first time and hope to go again. A real typical country pub, clean.bright and looking fresh. Very good selection from the menu all at reasonable prices, food was very good and the staff were friendly and polite. Would highly recommend.
Lovely little pub with friendly service. Good range if standard beers. Pub overlooks the commons cricket pitch
Looked at the website which looked very impressive so gave it a try for lunch Arrived to be told there not cooking today The place was absolutely empty so good idea not to just turn up
