Came by for some lunch and it was amazing! Really good service and the food was superb. Dogs are allowed as in most of Norfolk which was really handy. Food was served in good time and the staff are friendly too. If you have a Norfolk passport you get 10% of the bill!
Stayed over for the weekend. The room was impeccable, food was amazing with a special mention of the breakfast in the morning. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout.
This place is just lovely. So relaxing! The rooms are brilliant, ours had a sauna and an outdoor bathtub. Staff are great, food even better. The perfect place to have a couple of nights off from everything and just relax.
Lovely stay at The Pigs , relaxation great Spa and food was spot on each night. Service was excellent with our host remembering which dish we were eyeing up for the second night all very attentive.
We stayed in the sty in the sky as a break before we got married. The room was stunning- it had everything we needed and it was very clean. The hot tub was a great temperature. Ordering food and drinks to the room was super easy- and made the stay even better. Food was really tasty and well presented, the cheese board and breakfast were my favourites. We had a massage which was so so relaxing, so if you can get an appointment take it. All the staff were super friendly and helpful, nothing seemed like too much trouble. We are definitely going to be returning
Enjoyed a birthday treat for my daughter. Had the half day spa experience which included a treatment. Very clean and Emilia was very good.
We came here for a date night after hearing great things about it over many years but have never got round to visiting. The food, atmosphere and staff were all amazing.
Absolutely love it here, rooms are beautiful, food is excellent and the staff are always friendly and happy to help. If you are looking for somthing a bit special then this is the place.
Amazing spot for a weekend retreat! Had a fantastic time, food was awesome too! Highly recommended.
Stopped off for brunch. BBQ breakfast was very nice. Not great for vegetarians and non pork eaters, but the clue is in the name 🙂
We went for a meal on my husband's birthday, and the staff were so attentive. When they heard it was his birthday, they kindly arranged a little pudding with a candle for him as well, which was a really kind gesture. And the food!!! Absolutely delicious. My husband and I are often disappointed when we eat out, but the food here was just amazing. A good range of options, and the Iffits were brilliant! Our children thoroughly enjoyed their food as well, and the play area outside. We will definitely be back!
Had dinner here and it was very nice. Selection of Norfolk tapas, with some great items. Wouldn't get the closeslaw again as it was just bog standard but everything else was excellent. They must have a proper frier as the chips were crispy and soft and fluffy inside. Chocolate and Marmite pudding is also one I'll be trying to recreate at home! Tiny note, do name the Norfolk adder as a cider in the draught section of the menu, almost missed out as I didn’t realise it was a cider.
We have been lucky enough to have here on a number of occasions largely for lunch but we have also stopped overnight. Great venue to stop and have lunch. We have never experienced a poor lunch here, walking away on each occasion with a satisfied grin and a full stomach, what more can you ask for.
What can I say that truly does this place justice? I booked a two-night stay in one of the spa suites at The Pigs, Norfolk to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday, and it exceeded every expectation. I added a few special touches to make the occasion extra memorable, including room decorations, a mini facial set, and a couples “Whole Hog” massage. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff. The room itself was absolutely stunning, and the thoughtful in-room extras were a lovely surprise. The included brunch offered a fantastic amount of choice, and everything we tried was delicious. We also dined in the restaurant one evening — the food was very reasonably priced and, once again, exceptional. I would highly recommend the venison suet pudding. Every member of staff we encountered was fantastic, with a special mention to Sofia and Aron for an amazing massage experience. An unforgettable stay — we would not hesitate to return.
Stayed at The Pigs for a birthday and anniversary treat and it did not disappoint. The room was fantastic with a huge bed and clean and modern bathroom. The private sauna and twin bathtub was a great touch and although we didn’t get a chance to try it, the private courtyard with fire pit would have been perfect if the weather was better. We had dinner in the restaurant which was lovely. I would particularly recommend the rump steak and a cow pie. Breakfast/brunch was also included and it is available until 2pm which is great as there is no need to rush. We had the BBQ breakfast and the pancakes which were delicious. The breakfast bar with fresh fruit, cereal and pastries was also a nice touch. Very nice establishment, would recommend.
We've stayed at The Pigs twice now, and have just returned from a 3 night stay in the Bubble & Squeak room, an upgrade from last year's stay in a Spa Suite (although that room was great too!) This time we visited with our dog who was greeted very warmly by all the staff and he loved all the fuss he received! The in room spa facilities are brilliant, so relaxing and the rooms themselves are stunning. We particularly loved the hot tub and sauna. We also had treatments ('Mind & Hoggy') with Jemimah and Emilia, this is such a lovely, relaxing treatment and I thought really good value too. We chose to eat in the restaurant each night of our stay as the food is so good. We enjoyed all our meals but a special mention has to go to 'The Pig Event', our favourite meal whilst there. Brunch is consistently tasty also, we've tried pretty much everything on the brunch menu between our two visits I think, and we've never been disappointed. The Pigs really is a home from home, with a friendly, welcoming team who can't do enough for you, amazing rooms, and lovely food. My only complaint - you're too far away! But well worth the 4 hour drive for what I'm sure will become an annual trip for us! Thanks for having us and we look forward to returning as soon as we can 🐷
I only went for brunch but I am Coeliac so always worry about eating out but I had no need to be as the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful throughout. Also ensuring that my disabled father had a suitable chair to assist with his comfort. Many thanks to the team for an excellent brunch .
I had an absolutely incredible stay! The room was spotless, beautifully laid out, and impressively spacious. We had our own private sauna, steam room, and a standalone bath right in the room—pure luxury. Outside, the jacuzzi was the perfect place to unwind. The food was exceptional, and every member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly
The room was really nice. High ceiling with a big bed. Very clean however there was an issue with the toilet and drains. The pillows were to hard for me but the over half loved them. Sauna in the room was amazing. Spent a lot of our time in there. The bath is also great. Evening meal was great as was the breakfast. Would advise signing up for Norfolk Passport prior to visit. This will save you 10% on food and drinks.
I stopped by in the afternoon and had the special, double Burger and chips along with a pint of Pigs 🐖 Lager. The Burger was amazing and the Chips to die for, so e of the best I've ever had. And the Pigs 🐖 pint was a nice and crisp lager. Along with the food the staff was friendly and welcoming. I will stop in again in the future. 😁
Stayed in one of the Spa Suites for 1 night, amazing rooms with your own sauna, steam room and outdoor area. Comfy beds, very clean. Had an amazing couples massage. Ate in the restaurant for dinner and brunch, amazing food. Every single staff member were all lovely and polite! Can’t recommend enough!
This is a very strange place (in a good way). It's a pub that does very good food (nothing strange about that) but then had a spa and rooms, some of which have hot tubs or saunas? I know it reads weird but it is exactly that and you should give it a go. Randomly it appears to be in the middle of nowhere. We only ate and it was very good, would definitely return if in the area. If the rooms are did friendly (pub is) then would even consider staying
We have just stayed at The Pigs Hotel for my husband’s 40th birthday. We have both had the best time and only regret not booking for two nights instead of one. Everyone was so warm and friendly especially Will and Lisa. Thank you for a magical weekend. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend!
What a stay! Wonderful rooms and fab restaurant. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, such a pleasure! Really recommend. Lovely touches like the help yourself marshmallows and logs. Fab!
A busy and well loved Pub that is rapidly becoming a Spa based Hotel. Food is still the focus and was excellent as usual. Staff are always friendly with a warm greeting pretty much guaranteed.
I’ve been a couple of times and I am yet to be disappointed which I don’t think I ever could be here! We celebrated my birthday yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised to arrive to the spa room with balloons and a birthday banner on the bed to which we could take home, i made full use of the steam room, sauna, dual ended bath inside and the drench bucket outside, in the morning we woke up and used the steam room, sauna and the waterfall shower and then went for breakfast included with the price of our room, I am more than happy with the service the politeness of staff and the quality of the food, we did mention that one of us had allergies against feather bedding to which the bedding was accommodated for us but the throw pillows did include feather and the floor in the sauna and shower can be a bit slippery so a couple of things to be wary of but otherwise I’m just upset I didn’t book two nights!😂 Thanks again to the team at Edgefield hopefully see you again soon.
We had a lovely stay at the pigs as we always do, staff are all very friendly! Really warm and welcoming atmosphere. Beautiful pub/building and setting. We were upgraded to a spa suite as our room had a toilet issue but this was dealt with immediately by a lady on reception who seemed to be a manager and she was very polite, friendly and helpful! The food is very delicious (breakfast & dinner) reasonably priced for the quality and highly recommend. The bed is very comfortable and the whole place appears to be cleaned to a very high standard. The only few things we noticed is that the last couple of times we’ve stayed the rooms that we’ve stayed in have general wear and tear that hasn’t been dealt with or replaced as needed. For example the rusty drench bucket outside so if you were to use it you would be drenching yourself with rusty water essentially which isn’t appealing, the drench shower was heavy with limescale and had a continuous drip, there were holes were once before I believe was a magnified mirror which haven’t been filled/mirror hasn’t been replaced.
We did a half day spa here and it is a beautifully rustic country place, somewhere else in Norfolk I hadn't discovered before, the spa garden was perfect, loved that we had it to ourselves, and we all enjoyed our treatments and the meal at the end, thanks The Pigs
We travelled just over an hour to have dinner here and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing, friendly attentive staff and good value for money. We will definitely be back.
Wow wow wow! We had a lovely 1 night stay here in April in the spa suite. It is simply the perfect getaway for parents wanting to relax! We booked a couples treatment at the spa which was really really good, I have never seen my husband so happy 😆 I thought that it was a really good touch that you can sample all of the products used during your treatment -nice touch. We also had dinner here and had it served to our room which was the ultimate treat so that we didn’t have to get dressed and could stay in our dressing gowns. The food was absolutely delicious and would recommend the piggy bits as a sharing starter however it is very filling so treat it as a main! We also enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant, the choice available is spot on. Finally, all the staff were so welcoming and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble! We have been telling everyone about this place and will be returning as soon as we can 😊
Had been looking to book the Wallow for some time and when it came up on instagram that it was available May bank holiday we booked it straight away and we are so glad we did. This room did not disappoint for a relaxing break. The room was clean and tidy, the facilities in the room were faultless and the staff were all friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending The Pigs for an exclusive spa stay.
This is a lovely place to eat , food is great , big portions and the desserts are help yourself. Well worth a visit.
Another fabulous treat at the wonderful Pig Spa This time I was beautifully cared for by mimi the spa bed was so comfortable and the room relaxing and perfect. Mimi gave me the glow facial which was fantastic she really did a great job and the result was a clean sculptured and hydrated face ! I was absolutely glowing and can’t wait for my next treatment! Thank you Mimi
Had a lovely breakfast here whilst caravanning nearby. Great produce and really friendly, welcoming staff make this a great choice for breakfast when in the area
Wonderful hotel to come to for total relaxation - the spa suites are fabulous with a personal steam rooms and sauna in the bathroom as well as a courtyard garden (though currently the weather is too cold to enjoy these). Particularly enjoyed the head massage I had - absurdly relaxing. Friendly staff and delicious food. Breakfast is wonderful and sets you up for the day but please (piggy please) bring back the Cheese Straws!!
Had a fantastic family dinner here the other night. My wife and I had the special toad in the hole which was absolutely amazing. My eldest daughter blade of beef and my youngest had children’s pasta, which they both enjoyed. All in all a lovely meal. We’ll be back! In fact we’ve booked again for tomorrow night!
Didn't stay in the hotel only ate in the restaurant. Cracking place this with a great concept. Food was well cooked and tasty. Me and the wife walked out utterly stuffed. Highly recommended
The rooms were lovely and kitted out with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The bath and sauna are a lovely addition and really make the room feel luxurious. The pantry table outside was perfect for marshmallows on the fire or milk for coffees. All the staff were lovely and very helpful! Unfortunately we felt a little let down by the food, we were looking forward to the roast but were pretty disappointed with it. The meat was dry, the potatoes tasted boiled and not roasted and it was served almost cold. We felt the sides tasted like they’d been sat for a while. However the breakfast the next day was better, we would definitely come back for the rooms but unfortunately not for the food!
I had a day of annual leave, so after hearing many people at work talking about this place we decided to give it a go! When we entered we had about a 5 minute wait to get seated (we had booked) but a staff member did greet us and told us someone would be with us soon so we didn't feel like we were being ignored. We decided to travel for 40 minutes to visit here for breakfast as we really wanted to try the bbq breakfast which came with 2 different types of bacon, bbq pulled pork and bbq beans. However, unfortunately they did not have any bbq pulled pork available which was quite disappointing as that was the main thing on the breakfast we wanted to have and was the thing that set them apart from other places! But these things happen and they offered us an extra sausage or more bacon as an alternative. I ordered mine without the black pudding and swapped the bbq beans for normal baked beans too. It arrived perfectly presented. The maple streaky bacon (which you only get on the bbq one) was the best part. Portion wise it was fair, but for £17.50 I personally think could have been a bit bigger (i.e could have come with 2 hash browns, and perhaps some fried bread, and 2 sausages as standard even if they had the bbq pulled pork) It all tasted lovely, but could have been a bit hotter. I am glad I did not have the bbq beans as I expected them to be very similar to kfc beans (baked beans but mixed with a bba sauce rather than tomato) but actually they were a mix of kidney beans and other beans and bits of carrot and were very dry (my partner had them) not saucey at all, so this is something to bear in mind. The atmosphere was really nice, it felt really cosy and holiday-ish sitting in the conservatory bit. Me and my partner both didn't like the English breakfast tea personally, we both thought it was a bit funny tasting and because it was served around 20-25 minute ahead of the breakfast it unfortunately had gone cold by the time the breakfast came. All in all it was a good experience and I would visit again, but I feel a few improvements could make this place more memorable.
Its a nice place. Food is fine, ok beer with excellent service
I used to love going here to eat weekly , but I'm not keen on the menu now as it is an all day breakfast place, which seems to be aimed at none locals, a few days ago I had the venison pinwheel sausage served with one carrot cut in half and a small potion of mashed potato with onion gravy and for £23.70 I would have expected some greens to be served with it, don't get me wrong the food was lovely, but I did prefer the more traditional menu, I absolutely loved the belly pork but this is not on the menu anymore. I don't feel local people want to go there for breakfasts.
We have been dining at the Pigs for many months, bringing our friends and guests especially for the Sunday roasts. A good Sunday roast is hard to find in Norfolk & Suffolk. Unfortunately the quality of said roast has been declining for several weeks and when we visited with friends some days ago it was not good. We are happy that our vegetables are andante but they were hard and under cooked again and the roast potatoes were rock hard and dry, as if left under heat lamps. I apologised to our friends for a disappointing meal. It is a shame as everything else is excellent, service and ambience. We do hope things will change as to make our 70 min drive worth it. Thanks
We visited today after approx 2 years since our last visit. The outside and inside of the property looks lovely. Once seated we looked at the menu, only to be highly disappointed. The only real options were something in a bun, fish and chips or a roast. We opted for the roast. The roast potatoes were either made a day previously and re heated, or were from a packet. Neither of us finished our meals. At no point did the staff come to our table to ask if everything was ok. The visit previously was very different. The food was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Im guessing that they're trying to save on costs but still charge the same. I for one will not be coming back. Very disappointing visit.
Went for the pamper and pig in deal . The pamper experience was lovely from start to finish and lovely beauty therapist . Then had food , it’s a shame have eaten here before had a Sunday roast which was amazing, but we had a lunchtime booking . Which didn’t have a lot of choice on menu to choose from . Staff are lovely and friendly, but the food was a let down , chips were dry and hard overcooked not edible to left them and chicken strips were extremely dry and hard to eat . Previous visit was amazing . But a lovely place to visit , I think more choice of menu is much needed at lunchtime
Hi all. Just wanted to share a less than optimal experience that I had today at the Pigs in Edgefield. To be clear, this review is for their food only (not the spa). Firstly, I’m gluten intolerant (not coeliac), so I can get away with cross contamination. Every 3 months my girlfriends and I meet up and today was an early Christmas meet up and we were all excited to see one another and had been looking forward to it all week. I have always had a decent meal (until today). I ordered a gluten free rarebit with chunky chips. When it came I was so disappointed. One soggy piece of gluten free bread, cheese sauce had disappeared into it. No slow roasted vine tomatoes as advertised (just an ordinary grilled tomato cut in half). No chopped chives either (pea shoots instead). £13 for the rarebit and £4.75 for the ‘chunky’ chips - which were mostly scraps as pictured. If I wasn’t so hungry, I would have left it. We complained and got some money off. When we asked if there was a different chef they said no it was the usual chef and it might be down to how busy they were. Out of the 5 of us only one of us had a decent meal. The meals weren’t very warm and portions very small. The staff were very nice though and did their best to turn it around. Won’t go again.
It was our first time visiting “The Pigs” and given all the hype about this place, we thought we would give it a try for a celebratory meal. The first thing that hit us was the lack of menu choices. I went for the cod and chips, wrong decision. They were the worst and most visually unappealing plate of fish and chips I have ever had put in front of me. How the kitchen thought it was acceptable to serve this to me was beyond me. The first piece of fish arrived very burnt. When asked if our food was ok, I pointed this out and they were good enough to cook me another piece. The second piece arrived, slightly less burnt than the first, so I accepted it and quickly realised that I shouldn’t have. It was clear that the fish had been cooked in burnt oil, the taste of the batter was nasty. I picked around it hoping to salvage something from it, but quickly gave up as I really wasn’t enjoying it and the fish was very watery. I moved onto the chips, the few that were on my plate. I tried some, but they were so uninspiring that they weren’t worth the calories to continue eating them. As for the mushy peas, they had what tasted like a ton of black pepper or something like that in them, it totally spoilt them and made them inedible. Oddly, I could also taste a lot of salt in my meal, despite not adding any myself, to the point that it was unpleasant in the mouth. My husband ordered the porker hog butty, but was left feeling very underwhelmed by it all. The meat in the bun arrived almost cold, yet the coleslaw was warm and wilted and his meal was also very heavy on the salt too. The standard of food served to us was shockingly poor and expensive for what it was, especially as I left feeling hungrier than when we arrived. We did get a half-hearted apology, but if their customer service was on point, in the circumstances, a small kind token gesture to compensate us for our disappointing experience would have gone a long way. As this did not happen, we therefore felt we had no other option than to write a review to spare others the same fate as us, especially as we overheard two other tables complain, one about some missing bread and the other, surprise surprise… about the awful fish batter! We may have just caught them on a bad day, but really there are no excuses for the type of establishment they claim to be, they really should be on top of their game all the time. Needless to say, this will be the first and very last time we spend our money here.
Not great! We have had great food when we've been here last year, however first time back in a long time and the food was below average. The Sunday roast has been wonderful when coming here in previous years, however today the beef roast dinner was terrible. The only saving grace being the vegetables. The gravy was thin and runny, there was one slice of thin, chewy beef, the potatoes were burnt, and the meal overall was lacking flavour. As a former chef, I am beyond disappointed of the quality.
Was taken to The Pigs at Edgefield for a pre Christmas breakfast by a client. Person taking our orders was abrupt and disinterested. Food arrived and all three orders were wrong or missing items. Bacon was undercooked and fatty. Baked beans were lukewarm and tasteless. Toast was cold. Mushroom was very greasy. Sausage was undercooked. Wasn’t asked if we were happy with food. Had I have been paying I would have refused. Will never frequent this place again. Overpriced and overrated.
Poor Slow Abrupt Service, Food overcooked, presentation of food poor and unappealing. We have visited The Pigs for several years but our recent visit was poor service, very abrupt and not very welcoming as with our previous visits.
