We had a lovely meal here recently as a group of 6 for a special birthday. It was busy, but we were warmly welcomed, and enjoyed the cosy ambience. Service was friendly and well timed. Food was gorgeous, very generous portions. Would definitely visit again when in the area.

Visited today with my disabled dad after not being able to park anywhere for lunch. On holiday so don't know where to eat, thought we would try it. So glad we did, very welcoming and relaxed and friendly atmosphere room for my dad's walker. We all thoroughly enjoyed our mains and went on to had dessert too. Clean plates all round will definitely visit again.

Stopped in for a bite to eat, very impressed. The menu had a mouth-watering selection of starters, main courses & desserts, unfortunately, we didn't have time for a longer stay for lunch but we will certainly be returning. The staff were really helpful & attentive without being overpowering, even double-checking if we had allergies when placing our order for the excellent food which was beautifully cooked & served with care. Definitely a great establishment to eat in, with excellent food, hospitality & setting at a very reasonable price. 5 Stars plus.

Fantastic restaurant. Staff were amazing catering to my wife’s very complicated dietary requirements. Took my parents here for their 50th anniversary. They loved the environment and the food. Also plenty of options for my 12 year old son. Highly recorded

We (group of four) enjoyed a beautiful Sunday roast at the King's Head following a morning walk around Blakeney. I'd seen the good reviews, was keen to give it a try, and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the roast was delicious and a good size - I really appreciated the option of trying all of the roast meats, fantastic for the indecisive! We were in early (12) and by 1 the pub was really buzzing. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding and a couple of affogato's.

Easy to find entrance access off main road take care entering and exiting. Car parking is quite large enough. Children friendly and disabled friendly too. Toilets are very good.

Had an excellent roast dinner lunch and they were superb with the service, easily accomodating 20+ people for one sitting in an already busy lunchtime service. The staff were amazing, the food was delicious and hot, everyone's order was correct and even managed to stagger the kids first and adults second which was a huge bonus and if relief to the parents! Thoroughly recommend

Back in the UK from Australia. This is what we miss, a traditional English pub with a beer garden. Service was good and the garden also had a play area to keep our daughter busy. Place is very convenient as we are staying next door.

Went today for lunch with friends. Lovely location with ample parking and good size gardens. Lunch menu was not huge , but is varied and offers more than enough for most food eaters. We all really enjoyed the food which was well presented and of a reasonable portion size. Prices are about average for this type of pub, which I felt were fair for quality of meals eaten. Staff were excellent with a special shout out to our male server who combined professional service with wit and knowledge of the menu/drinks. Highly recommended

I had a brilliant evening! Kelly was my waitress, and she was just fantastic—super friendly and spot on with her dessert recommendation. The food and drinks were top-notch, and the whole place had a lovely atmosphere. Everything was spotless, and I felt really valued as a customer. Can’t wait to come back for another amazing meal!

had Sunder dinner with extended family last night. food excellent with Sunday roast of pink roast beef, good roast pork great entrees and desserts and (by the kid's verdict) terrific kids burgers. Good real beers. staff excellent! Mistakenly thought I had dropped my wallet so returned. Staff cound not have been more helpfuls - getting under the table we had sat at to thoroughly look. Thank you. and highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed here on Friday night during a short stop over in Holt. We were immediately made to feel very welcome, the chef offered to make us some food even though he was due to close the kitchen. The manager whose name I didn't catch was hugely attentive and Beverly was so friendly. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We both enjoyed lovely night's sleep! Breakfast was tasty and Sharon was brilliant in making sure we had everything we needed. We loved our stay and will absolutely stay again.

We were staying locally and went a few times over a few days, we thought the garden with the outside bar and "pub snacks" were good so decided to have a full dinner here on one night and it was even better than we expected! We sort of expected good pub grub but the food was fantastic! The beef carpaccio was well seasoned with a lovely horseradish cream sauce without it being overpowering, steaks were well cooked and tasted great! We were so impressed with the food, the service was just as good, the team were welcoming and friendly and the drinks selection was really good too! I wish we lived closer to go all the time! The last night we were there they had a DJ in the garden which was great fun too!

Came here for my 30th birthday. I can’t rate it high enough! We all had 3 course. All very nicely presented and delicious! We all had roast dinner. It was amazing and nice to have a plate full of hot food! Everyone’s dessert looked lovely. I had the pistachio cake and it came with happy birthday on the plate which was so thoughtful! We will deffo be back!!!

Stopped here for lunch after a dog walk in the local area (Spout Hills). We received a friendly welcome, along with our large dog. Service was friendly and didn't have to wait too long. Food was lovely; will visit again if we're back in the area.

Have passed this many times on our regular journey between Ireland and Norfolk. This time we decided to stop by and have dinner. And we were not disappointed. Great big car park once we had safely negotiated the turnoff. A very friendly welcome and great service. The food was excellent. In our list for breakfast on the return journey as they serve breakfast from 08:00.

Such a cozy and warm atmosphere here. Everyone really friendly and we could bring dogs in. We didn’t eat but had some very tasty ale and a happy time. A fabulous British pub - we like those!

Lovely Geogian Hotel within striking distance of the Nth Norfolk coast. Spacious,comfortable bedroom.The evening meal was top quality and the staff are fantastic! Will definitely return.

Good location and very welcoming, friendly staff. Most of the menu can be made gluten free, which is very good.

2 humans and a dog, have been here every time we visit North Norfolk excellent staff and the menu is always a winner

Lovely pub/restaurant with large garden and car park. Service very smooth from knowledgeable staff whilst very busy, in particularly Emily who is a cocktail goddess. Food is very good at a reasonable price for the area and beers and ales are exceptional. Dog friendly throughout and dogs are looked after just as well as their owners. The only minor issue is visitors who are too much in a rush to get the Norfolk vibe.

What a great pub! I don’t think I ever said this about any other pub. We came here in August (summer) and it was so good! They had lots of entertainment for kids, DJ and great quality & delicious food. The service was fantastic too. Super friendly, helpful and accommodating staff.

Beautiful pub food looked and smelt nice. Didn't have a Sunday Roast because we had already eaten. If we were hungry, pretty sure we would have enjoyed this meal. Make sure you book well in advance. Dogs welcome and vegans options.

This is a very beautiful property with lots of parking, a huge outdoor seating area and very well appointed decor inside. As we hadn’t booked I was quite surprised when I popped in at 3 o’clock that I could book a table for Sunday roast for anytime we chose from 3-6pm. I guess most people eat their Sunday roast at the traditional lunchtime. The roasts were delicious, not large in my opinion but very tasty (and I’m always happy when you are given additional gravy in a small jug without having to ask; along with all the condiments). The cheese and biscuits were a bit disappointing as there was only 1 cheese which wasn’t liked as it tasted like Brie). I felt the 2 course £32 is quite a lot (£28 roast, £4 dessert). I don’t usually order starters or desserts so I would have preferred 1 course for £21-22 (as described on a blackboard in the garden, or the going rate for other Sunday roasts in pubs in the area who also get highly rated reviews). But overall it was very nice, plus our 2 dogs were allowed inside.

We visted the King's Head to see Nelsons Shantymen. Lovely evening. Lovely setting. Tasty hamburger (not the cheapest) Needed to be advertised more.

Really nice location and atmosphere, we caught the end of the beer festival and sat outside. Enjoying a few games of badminton and some good weather. The lady at the outside bar was very friendly. Our only disappointment was upon going to order food we were asked if we had reserved a table to which we hadn't so did not qualify to order food due to the kitchen being busy. We did manage to squeeze a couple of portions of chips which was a positive however did see other tables arriving and ordering food outside for the following couple hours after us. We would have been happy to wait for a while if given the option!

Lovely pint and cosy atmosphere. Would be even better if the changing facilities were in the disabled loos rather than the ladies, as my partner wasn’t able to change my baby’s nappy. Otherwise lovely pub

After a poor last visit we visited yesterday at short notice for a late Sunday lunch and wow it was great ! Lovely food and the service from Dan and his young helper (Peter ?) was first rate and made the meal very special - def recommend

Food nice, great selection, only let down by poor waitress service whilst a photoshoot was going on, shame really as was really looking forward to meal

A nice pub, beautiful steak! They have ZERO clue what a waldorf salad is though lol. £5 for some bitter brown lettuce leaves, I'd take that off the menu if I were them or have a word with the sous who made it. It was Saturday lunch time and they didn't have the best thing on the menu which was a bit of a let down because if they don't have it then, when do they? Other than that, service was good and it has a nice atmosphere and the steak was cooked to perfection.

After a long trip and an afternoon at Thursford christmas show we booked here for our evening meal before heading to our accommodation in Holt. We booked very late so we were pleased just to have got in. Beautiful building with a certain charm. Had a friendly greeting and despite arriving a little early was soon shown to our table. Not the biggest of menus but supplemented by a specials board. My partner found the vegetarian options quite restrictive. Little one was very happy with her Norfolk sausages and mash. Good to see that they hadn't reduced quality on the children's menu. I chose the Barnsley chop off the specials board. Now I'm sure this isn't the cheapest place to eat in the area but because of the ambience, the service and the quality of the food I don't mind paying the price. What I do object to is paying for the 'extras'. In this case crispy new potatoes and cabbage. £4 for 4 new potatoes and £5 for a little dish of cabbage suddenly made my meal seem quite expensive. Surely no one is just going to eat just the chop with no veg. Just felt a little bit let down by this.

We just decided to try somewhere different for a change. It's very nicely presented inside and out, with a good-sized carpark and a nice garden area to sit in once the weather improves. The staff were very polite and they served very good coffee. Maybe next time we will try the menu as what I observed from other people the food looked good.

Beautiful pub in a beautiful location. The beer garden is the best I've seen for years, almost like stepping back in time to beer garden glory years. Food was decent. Service was decent mixed in with a bit of Norfolk gruffness but that's part of the charm I guess. Didn't stay overnight so cannot comment on the rooms. Definitely worth a visit and masses to keep kids entertained.

A pleasant pub restaurant - the food (steak, fish) was OK but not particularly memorable. On that basis, definitely over-priced.

A lovely, tasty meal with very friendly service. The portions were extremely disappointing; £30 for a small piece of halibut with no potatoes and two very small pieces of duck breast without potatoes for £25. I'm sure the fish and chips or the burger would be value for money having seen those come from the kitchen but the specials we chose were not value for money and left us feeling extremely disappointed.

Really average food and therefore expensive for what it was. Really tiny portions - which I wouldn’t mind if the food was innovative and delicious, but it was pretty bland in flavour - just salty. There’s so much good food in the area that this place just doesn’t stand up. Service was also quite odd - they brought out the wrong sides at first and then when I asked whether the potatoes went with one of the mains or if they were a mistake side they looked at us accusingly as if we’d stolen them and said ‘no these aren’t for you’ and rushed them away. Very strange. I also didn’t like the dining room set up - it felt far too formalised and they’d lost the rustic charm of the old cosy pub area (which is maintained around the corner where you can have a drink).

Quite disappointed. Although I’ve had a great number of good meals here, and left great reviews, I was left dissatisfied today. We ate outside in the garden I had a brisket roll and my wife had cod cheeks. Firstly most of the tables had lots of bird poo on them that should be cleaned before service. Secondly my roll was dry and tasted like a cheap burger bun, dry and without taste. To me the cheese should have been melted and either better quality roll used or it be toasted. Lastly the cod cheeks were in a greasy batter with no side salad or anything really to break the greasy texture. Add a bit a salad, it’d cost next to nothing but really improve the dish. All of the above are easy fixes, just need more attention to detail.

Came for a big family meal for Boxing Day 2025. Lovely building, friendly Informal service. Well-kept ales. But the food was lacklustre. My father paid for the whole meal and wouldn't be one to complain. But we all agreed about the food. For example the burgers at £18 and were flat patties. Not a juicy or indulgent, stacked 'safe bet' burger to fill you up. I had the vegetarian risotto. No hint of herby, zesty or creamy Italy. It was a claggy rice dish without flavour. Good chocolate mousse dessert. Overall, underwhelmed and overpriced for basic food. Wouldn't return. 2½ stars if I could but its Christmas so Im being kind.

We went to the Kings Head for the first time this evening (Dec 12, 2024) and found an attractive restaurant with a pleasant ambience.  We both chose something from the specials board, which were more expensive than the main menu choices but sounded more interesting.  However, when our meals arrived, the portions were so small I would describe them as starters. The food was tasty enough but way overpriced for the amount of food served.  So disappointing.

We visited Sunday of Bank Holiday weekend, around 3pm. Unfortunately they were having a very bad day in the office. Our previous visits have been lovely, but this time they struggled with the basics. One of our 7 meals was obviously forgotten and arrived nearly ten minutes after the rest. We had to ask for sauces, of which also arrived far to long after the meals. My sons kids meal had beans which were stone cold, and had to be sent back. Most of the veg on all the adult roasts were cold and undercooked. The roast beef was well overdone. Shame, because it all tasted nice. Staff were not as friendly as they have been before, slightly sarcastic response to us asking for the kids ice cream desserts to be brought out to the garden. A bit disappointed on this occasion.

First time I dined here was 14 years ago , it was fabulous. Since then over the years the food has declined in quality. Today was the last time .I will not be returning. The spicy chicken starter was dry and poorly presented, the catch of the day was quite literally thrown into a dish with chips , the chips were frozen, the presentation was nil .The beef stew was a game of find the meat , i think i found one piece , the rest was small shredded pieces that you would expect in more of a soup , the green beans again had not been placed but thrown into the dish,then finally the Christmas pudding with brandy custard was about as tasty as I would expect had it been purchased from Iceland. Employ decent chefs and get back to the standard you were at way back.

Went today for lunch , ordered the wild bass which came so small I couldn't even make out it was a piece of fish. Even the staff told me to complain to the manager. It's my 5th time there but doubt I'd go back. Serious portion and quality control issues. Almost £15 for a large glass of wine , dry bread which was £4. Sad part is I took my friend that was visiting from Essex. Quite possibly my last visit.

Every time we have drove to holt for a holiday. We have always said we would loved to have a meal here, and we didnt care about the cost. Well never again.... My patrner fish was swimming in fat. My steak had been cut up into strips and was cold no peas no salad and at £32 Only got 4 bits. Both plates was stone cold. With drinks Payed just sort of £70. Not worth the money. Staff talked back to the manager on who had done what jobs when waiting at the bar. This was a Birthday treat. I dont mind paying for a good meal but this wasnt. am sorry to say.
