Opinions de Biryani Tika Kabab Oakland
Complex flavor profiles mixed with exciting aromas that had me dancing in my seat. The food is a great example of the quality of Pakistani cuisine and the beautiful diversity that Oakland has to offer.
4.5 stars. Excellent food, owner takes a little time warming up to you. We came here on a federal holiday evening so parking was quite easy to get (street parking only). Got seated immediately. This is our first time and we were visiting from out of the bay, so we asked what he recommended and he curtly said, "read the menu!" We ended up ordering the goat and the chicken biryanis and the prawn karahi with a garlic naan and some tea to end the meal with. They were nice enough to tell us that the food will take time. Turns out that preparation really helps as we were pleasantly surprised when the food came out quicker than anticipated. The biryanis were excellent! Good spice level, separated and colorful rice, well-cooked chicken and goat meat. Both biryanis had a homemade effect to them, which I absolutely adored!! The prawn karahi was more oily than I appreciate but the flavor and spice level was excellent! I would still recommend doing chicken or goat/lamb for the karahi, the prawns don't exactly fit with the karahi concept. With the garlic naan, the karahi was super yummy! The tea was ok but I like a certain kind of tea, which pretty much no one except my mother and I make, so I wasn't surprised. Quantities were decent. Definitely lasting the two of us for two meals. All in all, I was very happy with the food with the exception of the oil in the karahi. The owner did warm up to us through the course of our meal and we left on really good terms. Will definitely recommend them to whoever goes to Oakland.
This place serves CHEESE STUFFED NAAN. It's just so legit. You can ask them to stack multiple as whole cheesy pillows or get the standard single-sliced-into-4 basket. Also everything on the menu I've tasted so far is deliciously layered and complex, satisfyingly spicy and salty, and just good solid comfort-food tasty. Only short is that it gets chilly during dinner with the doors open for when they bring out our tandoori (sizzling plates). Dinner here on the weekend brings out families and friend groups along with me and my trans partner. My current go-to for Pakistani Indian noms 🇵🇰🇮🇳💯
Got carry out from here on January 1st. Wanted to start a new place. Got Lamb biryani and chicken tikka masala. Both were very good and well made. Solid value for the price. Colorful but also simple decor. In a part of town going through some construction so may have to park and walk a few minutes. Will try
This is probably the closest thing to authentic North Indian style biryani in the Bay Area, and I’m overjoyed to have finally found it. I had the goat biryani, and the flavor, color, and proportions were spot on. The goat meat was tender and perfectly spicy while still allowing the goat flavor to come through. The experience took me back to the home country. Having achaar on the menu was also a nice plus. Everything was super fresh, and the garlic naan was perfectly fluffy. Since everything is made to order, there’s a slightly longer wait, but nothing unreasonable, and the food comes out piping hot.
I have lived in the Bay area for 30 years, and I must say that I have missed years of not eating authentic Pakistani or North Indian culinary that is so bursting in taste and flavor. I really regret for not coming to Oakland downtown area to try it out, only due to being skeptical of a shaggy area reputation. I was so wrong. Now, I am making up my lost years rapidly. I have been trying Biryani, kabobs, chicken making, but my staple is their Tandoori Fish. For such little price, they serve me a 1.5 lbs (pre-cook) farm raised cat fish each time I order. It's incredible. Just eating this makes up my distant driving. Every dish felt freshly prepared, bursting with authentic spices, and balanced perfectly in terms of flavor and texture. Furthermore, I have been trying different authentic Restaurants in the Bay area but none comes even close to the taste, affordabilitu, and serving portions. Beside the food, what truly made the experience special was the warm welcome and friendly ambience. I feel welcomed each time that I visit here. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family members.
The Karahi Goat was one of the best dishes I’ve had in my life The Lamb Biryani was also the beer Biryani have had It takes a hot minute to get your food, around 40 min for us with few occupied tables, however after the first bite it was worth every minute - they are clearly scratch cooking back there 10/10 I would fly back to Oakland just to eat here
I’ve been a regular customer here, and this takeout order was absolutely fantastic—one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Last time, I wasn’t fully satisfied and shared my feedback with the owner. This time, they clearly took it seriously and went above and beyond to make things right. I ordered the lamb biryani and chicken tikka with bread, and everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and spot-on. The lamb biryani was perfectly spiced and aromatic, with tender, melt-in-your-mouth lamb and fluffy, fragrant rice. The chicken tikka was juicy, beautifully marinated, and had that perfect smoky char—truly some of the best I’ve ever had. The bread was soft, warm, and fresh, pairing perfectly with the dishes. Even after the drive home, everything tasted like it had just come out of the kitchen. What really stands out is the care and pride the team puts into their food. The owner is genuinely kind, approachable, and clearly passionate about making customers happy. It’s rare to find someone who listens to feedback and responds with such excellence. This place serves authentic, delicious Indian/Pakistani cuisine with heart. They’ve more than earned back my trust—I’ll be ordering again very soon. Thank you for a wonderful meal and for being so wonderful to deal with! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best North Indian style biryani in Bay Area. While most of the Bay Area has good Andhra style biryani, this one really hits the spot with their North Indian style. I tried the chicken biryani, chicken tandoori, garlic naan, veg kofta and chai. Chicken biryani and chai were amazing. The veg kofta was decent. Huge portion size for the price. Had to park on the street and it did feel kinda sketchy at night.
I highly recommend this place, the food is delicious, very fresh, and the staff is very friendly. Two days ago, I went to eat there and a young gentleman served me, very friendly and his service is super excellent. I tried Chicken Baryani, the taste was much more delicious than I expected.
Hands down one of the best Pakistani restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food was absolutely incredible! Packed with flavor, made fresh, and served hot. From the aromatic biryani to the rich prawn curry, every dish was cooked to perfection. You can truly taste the love and tradition in every bite. On top of the amazing food, the service was warm and welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home, patiently explaining the menu and offering great recommendations. If you’re looking for authentic Pakistani cuisine with generous portions, friendly vibes, and unforgettable flavors, this place is a must-visit. I’m already planning my next visit!
It’s really great food. Ordered the chicken tandoori (Half a chicken for $12!), lamb curry, and 3 garlic naans. All cooked fresh The portions are great and the service is on the spot. All the food was only 42 with tax and tip! And we had leftovers, for two people. One heavy set and on the lighter side
MashaAllah, this is one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. it's my #1 pick when I want to eat out . They have good customer service, good varieties of dishes, good price, I usually get biriyani but today I tried the lamb shank with rice, MashaAllah it was very good, the rice is a little bit sweet because of the resins so if you like sweet you will definitely love it.
Best biryani ever - speaking as a desi person who grew up eating Biryani Very authentic taste of Chicken Biryani Even bwtter was the level of service and customization - I had been asked if I preferred a dry or wet biryani - this is unbelievable amazing level - only at home do you get this level of service Also I had been able to specify and was asked about level of spice, food came quickly. Very kind host. Clean restaurant. Found parking easily. Will be back 100% iA.
I had a fantastic experience at this halal restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I especially loved the lamb Biryani, e.g., chicken biryani/lamb Sikh kabob mixed grill it was perfectly spiced and cooked just right. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the place was clean and comfortable.
We got the lamb shank biryani, butter chicken, and garlic naan for two people. The food goes crazyyyy. The lamb was falling off the bone and so tender. The biryani rice was incredibly well seasoned, there was a burst of flavor with every bite. I added their green hot sauce, perfectly spicy and tangy! The naan. The naan is so fluffy and crispy, with the perfect amount of garlic. I couldn’t stop singing my praises throughout dinner! The butter chicken was slightly tangy just how I like it, super flavorful! Definitely come check this place out! Delicious food at good prices 👍🏼
I’ve been in Oakland for weeks, exploring all the local halal eateries, and nothing compares to the incredible flavors at Biryani Tika Kabab (برياني تكا كباب حلال) on 14th Street. If you’re craving genuinely authentic Pakistani cuisine, look no further—this place is an absolute gem! First off, the food here is outstanding. I ordered the biryani and chicken makhni, requesting a spicy kick, and both dishes exceeded my expectations. The biryani was perfectly cooked, aromatic, and flavorful, each bite delivering an authentic taste that immediately reminded me of home. The chicken makhni was beautifully spiced, rich, and creamy, with just the right amount of heat. Every dish felt freshly prepared, bursting with authentic spices, and balanced perfectly in terms of flavor and texture. Beyond the food, what truly made the experience special was the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. The host, currently preparing for the USMLE, was incredibly personable and attentive, ensuring we were comfortable and satisfied throughout our meal. The place itself is impressively clean, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. Having tried numerous halal restaurants around town during my stay, I confidently say that nothing else matches the quality and taste found here. The authenticity is evident from the first bite, reflecting genuine Pakistani culinary traditions. Whether you’re a local resident or just passing through, Biryani Tika Kabab is a must-visit. It stands out not only for its superb taste but also for its hospitality and cleanliness. This is unquestionably my top recommendation in Oakland for anyone seeking delicious, halal Pakistani food. Trust me—you’ll leave delighted and eager to return!
Got a takeout order of chicken biryani and aloo naan. The customer service was excellent, and I have to say there aren’t many places that get biryani right, but this place absolutely nails it. The biryani was perfectly spiced just the way I like it, and the chicken was tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed it and would definitely come back for more.
Ordered the chicken karahi and what arrived looked less like dinner and more like a rescue mission. The chicken pieces were floating in an ocean of oil — no life jackets, no coast guard. I half expected David Attenborough to start narrating: “And here we see the elusive Karahi Chicken, drifting gently across the Sea of LDL…” Men over 50 — quick question: have you checked your cholesterol lately? If not, this may not be the adventure you want. One serving felt like it could personally escort your numbers past 300 in a single sitting. No treadmill can outrun that much oil. As for flavor? Surprisingly shy. Now here’s the twist: it was very spicy… but somehow not flavorful. Just heat. The kind that makes you sweat and question your choices, but doesn’t actually taste like much. It’s impressive, in a strange way — all fire, no personality. The frustrating part? They can absolutely do better. Chicken should be much more flavorful with the right blend of spices and just a tad of oil, not ocean. Two stars: one for effort, one for the brave red slice
