Opinions de Paradiso Oakland
Paradiso is our preferred place for celebrating special occasions! The 3-4-5 prix fixe dinner menu option is our favorite. We find the price to be a steal for the quality of menu options they offer for this special. My go-to is the Chicken Paradiso (ask for extra bread to soak up the delicious sauce!). Short ribs were savory and the cheesy polenta sealed the deal. Not pictured - our spectacular dessert. We were so stuffed, we asked them to box our second dessert so we could enjoy later. The apple crisp was enough for me and my husband to share after our entrees but we will enjoy our molten lava cake later! The staff is what really makes this place sparkle. They are accommodating and so kind - they make connections with new patrons as well as the regulars. Pavi was our server and he was amazing. Paradiso should be in your list for your next date night!
My wife introduced me to this location. The food is so rich and flavorful. One of the best pizzas I've had the pleasure of indulging. Even on busy nights they do their best to give you the best service as possible. It's becoming a place I want to take my wife to celebrate the little and big victories in our life. Definitely recommend to reserve your seats because it can get slammed quick, especially on a weekend 👍🏻
Paradiso is one of the nicest restaurants we have in San Leandro. It is a bit pricey, but the quality and experience always justify it. The food has been consistently good on every visit, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is lively and comfortable. It has become one of our family go to spots for celebrations. Even the kids love it, and the desserts are fantastic. My personal favorite is the avocado and crab salad. We have never had a bad meal here and always leave happy.
My husband and I have been coming to Paradiso ever since we moved to this area 12 years ago. Paradiso is our normal hang spot. The staff are incredible. They remember you they know what you like to order, and they’re friendly and welcoming. The wine selection is astonishingly impressive. The owner comes around to almost every table if not every table to make sure that everyone everyone’s having an fabulous meal.
Some of the most beautiful on your palate Italian food I've ever had! Kids' serving sizes are generous as well Above and beyond the food, best authentic Cadillac Margarita ever had!! Real Tequila from Tequila served! Each interaction with service personnel was awesome! Amazing overall experience.
Came in for lunch on a Friday and the place was abuzz! Great energy. I enjoyed the apple and prosciutto salad with grilled shrimp on top. It was almost too pretty to eat, but I managed 😊 The menu has something for everyone and friendly staff.
I live in the North Bay but had some business in San Leandro so decided to take myself out to a nice dinner while in town. Paradiso topped the ratings on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. I showed up only 15 or 20 minutes before closing time but the friendly hostess happily greeted me. I noticed a much better looking and diverse crowd than I'm used to seeing in Marin. I chose to sit at the cozy bar in the back. I ordered the signature seafood pasta entree with a glass of chardonnay from the bartender. It was fantastic. So, I topped it off with a lovely creme brulee and cup of coffee for dessert. Ambiance, food, and service all exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.
We dine here a lot. Twice in the past 8 or 9 days. We come for special occasions or a rare night out wanting good food. Last week we had Erin as a server and she was wonderful. Last Saturday we had Kristin and again a great and attentive server. The food is always great, but I tend to pay attention to service, without good service, I can’t enjoy the meal. If you dine here I recommend requesting Erin or Kristin for your servers, both very good. Erin has a great sense of humor also.
My husband (was fiance at the time of this event) and I reserved Paradiso for our wedding rehearsal dinner. The reservation process was easy as I completed their inquiry form online and coordinated via email. The restaurant was beautiful, and Nicole - our server who took care of us the entire night was absolutely attentive and wonderful! Due to our larger party of 20 guests, we had a prix fixe menu. All of the food we were served was absolutely delicious. I also loved their wonderful selection of drinks. It was a perfect place to gather family and friends to celebrate. We are so thankful to Eric, the owner and his team at Paradiso for an enjoyable night!
Party of three for dinner on a Thursday nights make sure to make reservations in advance. My pops grew up in the area so he knows everything about this place since this pace used to be a garment factory or something similar. Now with this modernization, and with this great food, this place has definitely become our fav. Servers are attentive, everyone seemed to be friendly including hostess. Orange 🍊 juice was freshly squeezed. Pops and mom loved their red wine 🍷. They serve bread to begin with and can be asked for more. We had cheesy appetizers which I forgot the name. For our dinner we got chicken, fish and lamb. The quantity is pretty good, they can be shared or individually served. They also provide a free house dessert for birthdays. Everything was great. 😊
My first time here!!! Didn't have a reservation because it was a spur of the moment stop in. The Host offered a high top seating which yay thank you for accommodating us without a reservation 🌹Ran into a friend and sat at the back bar instead. Server was very nice and professional. Offered specials and knew the answers to all of my questions. Chef sent out some really yummy deviled eggs. Sooooo good!! Thank you Chef! We tried quite a few appetizers, and 2 deserts. All were exceptional and tasty and at a perfect temperature. Did I mention the breads yet? The olive sourdough and rosemary breads were house made and divine 🤩I had to ask for a second bread plate to sop up all the juices on the plates because everything was so good. We are really looking forward to making a reservation next time and coming in for a planned dinner soon. Thank you for making our first experience there outstanding,

Delicious food, pure Italian kitchen. Great service. The restaurant has an exact menu that brings the italian cuisine to the heart of San Leandro. We had a great experience there.

Paradiso makes a strong first impression with its stylish, well thought through design. The space is divided into two main dining areas, plus a private table option, with the bar smartly placed at the center of the restaurant. It feels modern, open, and intentionally laid out rather than crowded. Bathrooms might need some attention and maybe a renovation. Service is genuinely pleasant and attentive. Staff are consistently on the lookout for guests without being intrusive, which makes the overall experience relaxed and well-managed. Food is a mixed bag. The calamari was unfortunately far too greasy and ended up mostly untouched. On the positive side, the beet salad with arugula stood out as light, fresh, healthy, and generously portioned. The Wagyu burger was juicy and satisfying, and it comes with a generous serving of parmesan fries that easily steal some attention. Had to take some to-go though. Overall, Paradiso delivers on ambiance and service, with some solid food highlights, but a bit more consistency in execution would push it higher.
The place was decent. For the starters, the calamari was fantastic. It was crispy and not too oily. The chicken piccata was alright but not the best. The house ravioli was pretty good. The Italian restaurant was good but not the best that I've ever had. Additonally, the prices were very expensive as well. For the price and the quality of the food, maybe its best to go somewhere else. On the bright side, the ambiance and the setup at the restaurant is fantastic.
Originally we we're looking for food nearby a friends house and some how found this place on the map. They claimed that food per a person usually comes out to around $10 to $20 but that's wrong this a swanky style type of restaurant. They also suggest that you make a reservation, so of course I called in to see if I would even be able to get a sit down table for six and if they serve kids type meals, I was told if I make it within an hour as that's their cut off time. We arrived and had to wait a few minutes for a non-high seat table. But that's not what bothered me first off, there was a fishy smell throughout the restaurant. I believe you shouldn't smell fish even if they sell seafood dishes. I got the 14oz rib eye medium rare, as they suggested. It arrived last of all the other things and was delightfully done right. The slight cheeesy cream stuff they added on top complimented the natural beefy flavors. The vegetables weren't overly overcooked but were somewhat softer than expected. My wife got the salmon and she said it was great, even though she didn't finish it all. I tried some and it was just too fishy for me. The kids got Alfredo pasta with different noodle styles they liked it. Overall it was good food, overpriced but good. If you're looking for a fancy swanky restaurant this is the place. They have wave to open front doors. They auto charged me an 18% gratuity for large party, w.e I wanted to tip cash but they tacked that on the bill and had the audacity to ask for more but try and hide that auto gratuity already charged. It was a nice first try but I don't think I'll be back unless it's for a family event situation.
The vibe here is elegant but not stuffy, perfect for a nice dinner out. The seafood pasta was loaded with flavor, and the steak was cooked perfectly. The service was attentive, though a bit slow when the place got busy. The cocktails were well-made, and the desserts were worth saving room for. The ambiance is warm and inviting, great for a date night or special occasion. A bit on the pricey side, but the quality makes it worth it.
Food was great.. nice ambience. It was packed on a Friday evening and basically reservations only!

Service great, efficent, fast, friendly. Our server was the best! Tasteful & clean decor. Food: large portions, tasty, made an attempt at providing for all (vegetarian, beefalos, fish lovers, glute…
Let’s start with the positives: the dessert was mind-blowing. We celebrated my birthday here and chose the prix fixe meal. Everything looked visually appealing, but as a foodie, I genuinely did not find the dishes flavorful or worth the hype. The owner was courteous and did make a round to check on guests, which I appreciated. Now the issues: $45 per person felt like a complete waste of money, and I’m someone who happily spends on good food. The water glass smelled bad, which was an immediate red flag. We were seated right by the door, and every time it opened, freezing wind blew in. Both kids and adults fell sick afterward, my birthday week is spent in sickness. We politely requested a change of seating. The host even prepared another table, but a different waitress later denied it, claiming “no space,” despite the restaurant being visibly empty. I also feel we were overcharged on a fixed-price menu. I asked for a copy of the bill, waited over six minutes, and still wasn’t provided one. We eventually had to leave because the kids were freezing. If there were a way to demand a refund, I would. Since that’s not an option, let me be clear: I do NOT recommend this place, except for the dessert.
After taking order, server disappeared and didn't once come back to table to check on us once dishes were served. Drinks ordered didn't come until we inquired and soda in kids drinks were flat. Resturant was busy and was definitely reflected in our server's demeanor. Food was ok but a bit salty for our palate. We've eaten here in the past and remember food tasted better.
Tried Paradiso for the first time. Loved the neighborhood vibe. Cute area. Nice esthetic inside Modern with a combo of rustic and industrial. The hostess was nice, and the server was nice as well. The specials were listed on a sheet, but the waiter didn't describe them or make any suggestions as to what is most popular. That was disappointing. The calamari appetizer came before the drinks. It was a heavy breading that overpowered the tender calamari, but it was still good. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was fresh and delicious. The celery salad underneath was something I've never had before. The celery was so crisp and mild with no strings and fresh parsley on top tossed in a champagne vinegarette. It was the crunchiest most crisp celery I've ever had. The ice bed underneath must keep it at an almost frozen state. It was delicious. The arancini was very good. Light and delicate and not greasy. The tomatoes underneath were seasoned with a garlic olive oil that was tasty but too strong to eat with the arancini. It wasn't fishy at all and was light and tasty. The drinks were very good. Balanced and nicely done. We didn't get any bread, so there's no rating on that. The ravioli special was not what I was expecting in the least. It was supposed to be a handmade ravioli with asparagus and tomatoes in a lemon browned butter sauce. It arrived as a wet brothy dish with no taste of lemon and definitely no browned butter aspect. It was like a ravioli primavera with bland vegetables. The filling in the ravioli's had little to no flavor. At least it was al dente but really lacked flavor and presentation. The pork chop was a nice thick cut and was moist, but the cippolini onions were non-existent, and it was a bit salty overall. The frutti de mare was the hit of the table. Plentiful ingredients and very tasty. Of all the dishes it was the most worthy of the price. The carrot cake (no picture sorry) was pretty good but not sure it was worth $15. It was moist and the flavors were balanced but the cream cheese frosting was a bit too mellow and we prefer a more rustic chunky carrot cake. The glazed walnuts were a nice touch. Overall, it was a nice dinner with friends. We were sat by the end of the bar away from the door and it was a bit warm compared to the front of the house but still enjoyable. The staff seemed a little thin. We didn't see our waiter much but he was having to clear tables as well as be the waiter of more tables than he probably could be attentive to. For the price of over $100 each, I think we would choose a different restaurant next time. There are so many to choose from in the East Bay that might better deserve that price point. If we went back, we may avoid the pricey entrees and just get drinks and apps.
Service was excellent as was the food and drinks. Not too expensive. Handicapped parking was available and we parked right near the back door. It was a Saturday afternoon and the back door was lock…

Perhaps the chef was having a bad day because my entire party of 11 thought their food was underwhelming. I came to Paradiso for lunch as a group 11. We had the brussel sprouts and calamari appetizers - both of which I thought were great. Then came the main dishes. I ordered the clams and linguine. In my head I was imagining a pile of pasta soaked in a white wine sauce on a plate with clams. Simple and delicious. What arrived was a big bowl of watery soup. Admittingly, the clams were cooked fine and tasted good. It was the pasta and "sauce" (broth? soup?) that were surprisingly flavorless. I could not find any notes of white wine and barely any hints of garlic. It feels like someone whiffed on adding the correct amount of seasoning. I didn't hate it, it was completely edible, but the flavor was just not there. As everyone started eating, the topic of discussion quickly turned into a breakdown about how underwhelming everyone's entrees were. Two people thought their meals were too salty, several others thought their seafood pastas were "meh". Three people flat out said they didn't like what they ordered. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend this restaurant until the mystery of the missing flavor gets resolved.
