Exceptional Japanese cuisine, great service, and stellar atmosphere accompanied with a great music selection! Sushi rolls were of high quality. No question the rest of the menu is held to the same standards!

Came on Mother’s Day, I wanted ramen and my husband wanted poke so this place was perfect! They had lots of choices and it’s not like “oh this is a ramen place that also has sushi/poke” everything tasted delicious! Customer service was awesome too. Everyone was friendly, helpful and hustled. They truly take care of everyone. Check this place out!

We enjoyed the food here. Poke bowls were delicious and fresh. Teriyaki chicken was tasty. Price was reasonable. Great place to stop by in Ocean Side.

Clean delicious food that isn’t over salted like many other asian food places. Wonderful staff who are kind, friendly and respectful. They tried hard to make the atmosphere peaceful but let’s face it, it’s in a strip mall. If this place was on North Pacific it would have a better view and the $9 lunch special would be $26. Thus, this is s value. Highly recommend.

I am a regular customer, in that I come each time I come to Oceanside. So I’m not in everyday, but each time I go to Oceanside I make a point to hit up this spot. I always get amazing food and service, and today a lady in a really cute bucket hat took it above and beyond. The food was excellent! We tried several dishes, including karaage, sushi, katsu curry, and a couple of others I can’t quite remember, and we were happy with everything. It was a pleasant surprise to see katsu curry on the menu. The service was quick, and the staff was very friendly. This is clearly a popular spot—though we arrived before the dinner rush, the seats filled up fast.

After meeting the owners and finding out what a lovely family they were, we decided to give their restaurant a try. I moved here from Eugene, Oregon and have not been able to find a place that resembles a restaurant that I deeply miss. I’ve gone to multiple places but the flavors weren’t quite right. Their Teriyaki chicken was really good and great flavor. I got the dinner plate that was huge! I was not expecting such an impressive sized plate, could have definitely shared this with my husband. It’s also very difficult to find a place where all of us can agree on and my kids loved their sushi, this is definitely a place we will come to more often. I also really enjoyed the simple atmosphere, I want to be at a place because the food is great, the owners are polite and very family oriented and genuinely take the time and effort to create delicious meals.

Sunshine Kitchen is our sushi place! Great customer service and delicious sushi! They have their menus up front and you can grab one in line to look over what you want and you can order when you are up front. They give you a number and you can either sit inside or outside. They do have heaters outside if it gets chilly. My fiancé and I love having their sushi and if it’s too crowded, we always take it home.

We've been here a few times when in the area. This time we ordered a chicken teriyaki plate - chicken teriyaki over rice, salad and scoop of their Japanese potato salad - and a side of the potato salad and the tempura calamari. The teriyaki was good. The potato salad had a similar consistency to what you would get at a Korean restaurant and a nice peppery flavor. The calamari was light and served with two sauces - tempura sauce and a nice aioli. Service was quick. Place has indoor and covered patio seating. Inclusive restrooms.

Conveniently located off the Interstate which gave us a break from being in traffic. Sunshine Kitchen is located on the opposite end of Wal Mart Neighborhood Market next door to a taco shop and Pho place. Huge outdoor patio with heaters. It’s a Japanese restaurant serving curries, rice bowls, plates, rolls, poke, fried rice, ramen, yakisoba/udon, hot soba/udon, salads and sides. We ordered: -spicy garlic edamame: Great garlicky sauce -Takoyaki: The least fav of all, it was a giant ball that had too much wheat flour that we just plucked out the tiny bit of octopus -chicken karaage curry over steamed rice: We asked for a higher spice level and it had all the right spice and curriness. -Oceanside roll: OMG this roll is so good. Fresh thin slices of avocado and soft shell crab. Inside had more crab and shrimp tempura. -Dinner plate #2 (chicken teriyaki over fried rice, 2 gyoza, mix tempura, Japanese potato salad, and green salad): Had a mix of everything. My fav was the Oceanside roll with the soft shell crab and avocado topping. The dinner plate was huge but I’m not a fan of the teriyaki sauce. It was thicker than normal and overly sweet. I was surprised a small place that has their hands dipped in everything may not be as good but I was wrong. The service was wonderful. You order and pay first before you sit. Sunshine Kitchen is on our list to return if we need to dodge traffic again. 4.5 stars, bumping to a 5

Great place to eat if you have people in your family that enjoy different types of food. I had the Curry and some sushi rolls, and they were both very good and good portions. Kids had ramen and they were very accommodating with requests as the kids are picky about what comes in the soup. Yakisoba was delicious and cooked perfectly. Food came out fairly quickly and staff were super nice. Will be eating here next time I'm in Oceanside.

A local gem. Simple but authentic menu of blended Japanese options, centered around their combo plates. Portion size is great, value is great, flavor is great. Consistent quality and service from day one side they opened. One of my favorite spots in North County!

This Japanese restaurant is the very best in Oceanside when it comes to casual comfort food. I particularly like their special combo with teriyaki chicken, fried noodles, gyoza, and shrimp tempura. All that for like $12 or so . Their udon and yakisoba are also great!

This is one of my favorite spots in Oside! I always get the chicken and beef plate and some chicken karaage. The owner is very sweet. Woman owned and family operated too.

They have great lunch and dinner specials, and I keep coming back for the poke bowl because it’s consistently well-made, fresh, and very reasonably priced. This time, my kiddo ordered the karaage and french fries, and we also tried the yaki soba noodles. Everything tasted like it was made with care. If you’re craving a little island or Japanese comfort food without committing to a huge sushi bill, this place is absolutely worth a visit. You'll be able to order a dinner plate usually salad, rice, and your choice of a meat, or you can also get yakisoba, and quite a bit more. If you want a no-frills but yummy Japanese style food spot in Oceanside especially closer to the coast because you're craving Teri café, this is a great option.

So you end up deciding what you want right at the register, which slows things down. Other than that, it’s great. Sushi comes out fast, and the staff is super friendly. Definitely recommend!

The dish came with lots of stuff. It was essentially a little sampler. We also got the fried chicken appetizer. Just wanted to diversity our portfolios. I'd definitely go back here. Sushi was not bad Ok Bye Wait, the toilet was so weak, it couldn't even handle toilet paper. -.5

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGY OR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS. This place has incorrect listing of what is in their dishes I ordered the Stir-Fried Tofu & Vegetable Bowl. On the website it says "Stir-fried tofu & vegetables (Carrots, Green onion, Yellow onion, Zucchini, Mushrooms, Beansprouts, Broccoli) with a side of steamed white rice." When i got home i opened to see theres corn, peppers and green beans added that were not listed on the menu. Not a fan of pepeprs and I have a allergy to corn. Waste of money.
