We had a fantastic stay at The Bel and Dragon,we were a party of 6 for a 2 night stay. The hotel was extremely comfortable—our room was cozy, and beautifully decorated. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. A big thank you to Indie and all the staff for their amazing service—they were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Overall, the attention and service throughout our stay were excellent and very convenient. We truly enjoyed everything and we have booked for later this year and next year . We highly recommend The Bel and Dragon.
My husband booked Dinner, bed and breakfast in one of their premier rooms as a surprise for our anniversary. Tom and the team couldn’t have been more helpful. The room was beautiful, such attention to detail in the things that were provided which were an excellent and much appreciated touch. Our meal was superb with a couple of added surprises as it was our anniversary 🙂. All the staff, without exception, were extremely friendly, helpful and went the extra mile to make customers feel welcome. We would both highly recommend the Bell and Dragon in every way.
Fantastic stay at the Bel & The Dragon over the Bank Holiday weekend. The staff and service were brilliant. Very polite, friendly and helpful with good local knowledge. The rooms were beautiful, well thought out, decorated and equipped. The room had a TV, fan, hairdryer, iron, toiletries with complimentary tea, coffee, shortbread and some sloe gin! We didn't eat dinner or lunch but breakfast was included and it was amazing. Lovely fresh fruit, pastries, cereal and yoghurt at the buffet and then great choices of hot food cooked to order. The full English was really good and could swap out what we wanted. We were lucky to book on the weekend of the Odiham Food Fayre which was well worth a visit. A great event outside the hotel, all along the high street with local food and drink vendors. I would highly recommend the hotel and will almost certainly return. Ita also a great location for paddleboarding the canal from Waterwitch.
Wonderful experience eating and staying here. The food was of a very high quality, staff were very friendly and welcoming and the accommodation very comfortable. We will definitely be back!
We had the most wonderful stay at the Bel and Dragon Odiham - a beautiful room, lovely drinks in the bar area and outside, and really nice breakfast to finish off our stay. Tom and the team made us feel incredibly welcome, they couldn’t do enough for us and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay.
Had a lovely overnight stay with evening dinner and breakfast. The listed building has retained all its old character and is a wonderful place to spend time. The bedrooms in the original building have been tastefully decorated with modern facilities and thoughtful little surprises. Food was excellent and staff were very pleasant and welcoming.
What a lovely place to stopover off the A303 for a night! Apparently a lot of money has been spent by Fullers doing it all up and it shows. Lovely annex room with quirks like a Roberts radio and free Sipsmiths sloe gin! Sat out on their popular large terrace with live music before a fabulous meal in their lively dining area. The food is excellent and the service from Anya was exceptional. Very attentive and cheerful. Odiham is a lovely village too with a few interesting independent shops. We'll be back!
We stayed here with all our bridal party during the week of our wedding. It was just so beautiful and everyone said it was the best accommodation they’d stayed in for a wedding. The included breakfast was great in the morning and there were so many lovely details like the sloe gin in the rooms and little snugs in the hallways. The staff were incredible, one of the young guys came and brought a blanket out for our friends baby who was playing on the floor which was so thoughtful. The bar man also gave the grooms party a drink on the house on the morning of the wedding and opened the bar early to serve them a whiskey in the side room while they got ready It just contributed so much to the best time in our lives and we’re so glad we chose to stay here. A million thank yous to the Bel & Dragon staff.
Had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious! Quality was great, flavours lovely and a reasonable price. Special thank you to Rosie who served us and was a delight.
We had a wonderful dinner Chef first class, service excellent Would recommend, certainly the best pub/hotel in the area
Cracking overnight stay & Sunday lunch. Not from the area, but will make a special effort to come back. Tasty food, and friendly service, great ambience
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Bel & Dragon in Odiham. The room was characterful but comfortable, and included complimentary extras such as sloe gin and chocolates which were a nice touch. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious, while the staff were attentive and friendly. We hope to come back!
May I suggest that guests in the hotel are not charged service for the restaurant, it's like being charged to eat in your house. I've stayed here a few times for work and the hotel is good with nice touches in the room like lavender spray for the pillows and some slow gin on the tea tray. The food has never disappointed and whilst I feel it's expensive all the other locations are a similar price but the quality shines through. The chef has a delicate touch with the food that needed no further seasoning and for me the broccoli stems were perfectly cooked with butter and perfectly seasoned. Sometimes the treatment of the simple elements of a dish are ignored. The staff are spot on and accommodating without being overbearing.
Enjoyed a fantastic dinner with my family last night. Great service, good atmosphere, and we particularly enjoyed the steaks. Will be back
We had a really lovely stay here. The room very comfortable and clean, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Fantastic value for money. We'll definitely stay there again.
Had a wonderful lunch with girlfriends in the restaurant yesterday. Great wine recommendations from the staff ....red and white .....complimented by an array of starters to share! Not eaten artichoke in years but very tasty. The menu is just a little bit more adventurous than your average pub but good for trying new combinations.
Absolutely perfect night's stay, extremely attentive, welcoming and friendly staff on arrival. The room was really comfortable and had little extras which were lovely. I had dinner in the restaurant and the food was, again, extremely nice- would recommend this alone. The waitresses at dinner were very helpful and attentive, Jo and Will were fab. Breakfast, there were lots of options and plenty of it. Would recommend to anyone to stay here or any others that they have- such a great experience.
Lovely dinner here 3.5 25, hadn't booked but Ben looked after us at a cosy table in the Main Bar. The Steak, lack garlic chicken and roasted courgette were really tasty. We will look forward to wating at Bel and Dragon again.
After a few disappointing visits in the past, Bel & The Dragon has truly returned to form following its reopening. The food is excellent, the service warm and attentive, and the overall experience feels wonderfully improved. A very welcome return to its old glory.
We have just had another great evening. Everything was excellent. The welcome, the food and the super friendly service despite being so busy. Thank you all so much and look forward to our next visit!
Myself and my partner held a leaving do with all our friends before we move to Australia at Bel and Dragon Odiham and I honestly could not recommend them enough, from the staff, restaurant, rooms. I live in Odiham and we go to Bel and Dragon often whether it’s for drinks or food, I’ve also stayed in the rooms a few months ago with my family and ever since then I’ve always recommended people who are staying locally to book here. About a month ago, I’ve made an enquiry to see if it was possible to book for a party for 30 people and within a few days a member of staff called me to ask what am I looking for etc and on the same phone call he confirmed that this could all be possible, he was flexible also and reassured me if I needed any extra tables or changes then they would make that happen also. I asked for a certain area outside which they had done up lovely for us. The process was so simple online organising everything and the communication from them via email was fast and clear. From the minute we walked in on the day they made sure we were looked after with drinks and didn’t rush us to have food, the orders were clear and the right food was brought to the right people - their was no confusion. Every single one of us thought the food was absolutely amazing With regards to rooms, we had booked 3 rooms for friends and they all complimented their stay. We had the most beautiful day and forever grateful we had such a stress free and fun time for our last day out with all our friends.
I honestly don’t have enough words to describe how much we love The Bel & The Dragon. Every breakfast, lunch, afternoon stop-in, dinner, drive-by coffee, long lazy afternoon, and overnight (or week-long!) stay has been an absolute joy. Ophelia, the GM, always makes us feel completely at home. She brings such warmth and kindness to the whole place. From our very first visit, the team has been consistently friendly, welcoming, and genuinely lovely. Anya, Lottie, Will, Dingo, Finn, Carol, Sian, Indie (apologies if I’ve misspelled!), Poppy, Callum, Tom — and everyone else / anyone i've missed, are a huge part of why we keep coming back. And then there’s the food. The Côte de Boeuf. The Full English. The cured salmon. Every time, consistently delicious. The design and overall vibe are also spot on, beautiful rooms, thoughtful details - all cosy but elevated. We’ve recommended The Bel to friends, family, and even my in-laws visiting from the West Coast of the US, and will continue to recommend it to anyone looking for a charming place to stay with fantastic food and wonderful people. If it’s not already obvious, we couldn’t recommend it more highly!
The Bel is an incredible experience and highly recommend it to anyone traveling through! The staff is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and helpful - Ophelia, Anya, Dingo, Finn, Indi, Sian, Poppy, Lottie, Will, Tom, Callum and more. I have an allergy to salmon (shoutout Sian for remembering months later) and the team is incredibly careful with cross contamination. Every meal and drink we've had here has made us feel like this is our home away from home. Thank you for welcoming us into the Bel family and for making our stay here so memorable. We love seeing the warm welcome for every single person that walks through their doors & all of the local pups that are so well behaved (if you're scared/don't like dogs don't worry everyone has great control over them). If you're nearby on a sunday, don't miss out on their sunday roast! Food Recs: - poussin. saw someone said it was too salty in a review, it's not....it's incredibly delicious and have had it multiple times (fyi it does take longer to cook) - rib of beef for two - beef fat crumpets w/brisket - Bel burger (lunch only) or the béarnaise burger (dinner) - pork belly - the fish of the day with lemon
A cracking night at B&D - anniversary and birthday celebration on Christmas Eve. So what made this special? The personal service and attention to detail on what was a busy night, combined with the excellent food quality - we shared the rib of beef. The venue felt very festive and the team are clearly very motivated to ensure all guests have a great experience. Shout outs to; Tom (Chef) and his team, Will & Callum (Bar), Ophelia, Sian, Poppy and Lottie in the restaurant. Thank you all. Merry Christmas.
Dropped in to the Bel & Dragon for lunch and were greeted by friendly bar staff before being greeted by more friendly restaurant staff and being seated. Food selection was good and was not disappointed when it was served - so good. Fires were roaring throughout the venue giving a warm welcome . Good vibe and would recommend.
Stayed 2 nights for a family wedding, end of November 2024. A splendid place. Excellent food & drink. London Pride & Hogsback Tongham Tea, outstanding draught beers. Very comfortable room in the main building, a lovely old building so mind your head! First class pork belly one night and 'wedding breakfast' second night. Brilliant organisation, and perfectly cooked & served. Staff: fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. Terrific waitress /server, the ever smiling Rosie was a credit to the hotel. Overall a memorable stay.
Fantastic bedroom, very quiet despite overlooking the High Street. Food was very good but some items are very expensive. Staff were great, lovely people with a passion. Very interesting wine menu. A lovely surprise anniversary sweet! and the Baked Alaska was mind blowing Overall a great day and evening lovely town. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
We had a private room here for a pre-wedding dinner the night before the event. We had two waitresses who were both delightful and the food, albeit on the expensive side, was wonderful. We had two children (5 and 7) with us and they had a great time too with school desks when they weren't eating, 5 year old shown below. The menu had a wide selection for all courses and the food itself was well prepared and delicious. As a seafood fan, I was in heaven. Highly recommended.
Andrew and the team make every guest feel welcome. Friendly check-in, excellent amenities (including complementary Sloe Gin) and a great breakfast. Ample parking was available and the room wanted for nothing. I would highly recommend and I’m now looking for an excuse to stay again. I should add that I first visited a decade ago and the quality and comfort has significantly improved following the renovation and changes under Andrew’s new team.
Andrew and his team are amazing. We stayed over night and the room was perfect. We attended an after wedding party for 80 people and the whole thing was managed perfectly. First class food and wine served throughout by happy smiling staff. I would recommend the Bel and Dragon.
Lovely pub, fantastic staff and delicious food. The food alone is worth five stars. We shared a feast: rib of rare beef plus a whole roast chicken on a bed of roast vegetables. Absolutely amazing! Staff were wonderful too; looking after our kids (even sharpening their colouring pencils) and could not have been more helpful throughout. All in a wonderful pub that mixed a traditional panelled lounge bar with a bright open dining room. We will be back, and recommend it to others too. Thank you.
I had a wonderful mid week lunch today (12 May 2021) with a friend. We sat out in the garden patio area. It was absolute bliss. Cosy blankets were provided, but fortunately the sun was shining. The snacks we had were delicious and the service was excellent. The staff are so warm and welcoming. In fact on all of the previous occasions I've been to the Bel & Dragon I've been so struck by how great the staff are. I look forward to going there again and again as a trip to the B&D makes me very happy indeed.
I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled to do so having had a fabulous lunchtime meal. It was also my father's 86th birthday and the staff went out of their way to make the meal special. The choice from the menu was great plus there were four specials. The food was great, the service excellent and the setting delightful. Highly recommended.
The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were very helpful in helping book taxis, overall the atmosphere is chilled and the food is very good 😊 will definitely be coming back
Very nice , good service lovely outdoors bit . Abit expensive but goes for the area your in when it comes to food . Beers also on the expensive side but there facilities and service matches the price so no real drama . Overall nice place .
We had a fantastic stay here. The rooms are beautiful and quiet and the atmosphere is friendly and helpful. The manager Tom was very helpful and committed to making sure we had the best stay. Food was amazing as was breakfast. Would very much recommend!
I knew this place when it reopened nearly ten years ago. And so glad I've been back to stay and eat. And back again for lunch. Just superb!
An extremely pleasant afternoon sat outside on a sunny afternoon. The pub was recommended to me by a friend. I hadn’t taken into account there was private parking at the back. Noted for future use. The inside looked lovely and colourful all decked out in Autumn colours. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and they took cards AND cash. I’m definitely returning and making this my new go to local place to meet.
Bell & The Dragon was a delightful find, and one which I hope to revisit. The dark panelled bar and snug are wonderfully atmospheric, whilst the bright and clean restaurant behind allows focus on the food. Quirky bedrooms full of vintage furniture and secondhand books are something a bit different, the provision of luxury teas, coffee and complimentary gin are a lovely touch. My only gripe was that the saggy old armchair was too low for me to work at the desk...so I had to work in the bar and drink beer! Apologies to anyone I disturbed whilst on Teams calls! The food is very good without being outstanding, though special mention must be made of the full English breakfast which is really good. Odiham is a fascinating location to explore, too.
Historic coaching inn right in the centre of Odiham village. Visited for a meeting over a light lunch. Good variety of light snacks and more substantial lunches available. Had the burger which was excellent. Good atmosphere and very attentive staff. Can really recommend!
Had a great stay at the Bel and Dragon. We stayed in the family room which was great for us. The bunk beds are in a separate area of the bedroom so once the children were asleep we were still able to have lights on and watch TV in the part of the room without waking them. The staff were fantastic with a special shout out to Anya who greeted us every morning for breakfast and was really attentive and made us feel welcome. Our little one has a milk allergy and they were able to cater well for him and offer alternative milk etc easily which made our stay so much easier. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.
The Bel & Dragon is a great little spot if you’re looking for a laid-back yet stylish place to grab a drink. The vibe is relaxed, with a mix of cozy, rustic charm and modern touches that make it feel both welcoming and a bit special. The staff are friendly and know their stuff, so if you’re not sure what to order, they’ll happily point you in the right direction.
I had to go and find the bar person. Location, in Odiham village, is really nice. Car park to the rear. Not busy at lunchtime. Didn't use the restaurant. A little expensive. Got £12 change out of a £20 for a cider.
Lovely building with lots of tastefully decorated areas to drink and dine. Food was above average. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly. However, there didn't seem enough of them, which meant there were longer waits to get additional drinks or asking for the bill.
Country pub and restaurant in the heart of the village of Odiham. Also is a hotel but we went there to dine.
Excellent food in a nice outdoor area, only downside is automatic addition of high service charge. Says optional in the small print on the bill but definitely a downer
I'd like to thank the bar staff (4 bar staff) for a very cheap night last night. Due to them completely ignoring me at a very quiet bar for 5-10 mins . Serving two other customers first, who turned up after me. So thank you for giving me the two glasses. so that I could pop next door to the corner shop, get my drinks and then pop back into the pub. So thank you x I will say the two glasses were excellent!
This is a review for the restaurant only - The veggie option was honestly one of the worst things I've ever eaten - a few pieces of lukewarm, tasteless, badly cooked aubergine with some tahini out of a jar and some uncooked coriander seeds... and the pork dish was mediocre. The prices are ridiculous - more expensive than London. The restaurant interior was lovely but you can't eat the decor 😕
Popped in for lunch on a cold day cos I work outside. Ordered the Crab Linguine but it was disappointing. Tasted nice but not for the right reason. The chilli over powered everything else, tasted vegetarian, coups taste the crab at all and the sauce was too watery and had too much green in. It wasn’t a nice seafood dish. Also had a pineapple and lemonade but it was very weak and flat. Think the carton needed shaking. Lemonade was out of a bottle and flat. No one came to ask of the food was ok so not follow up service. Shame cos it’s a nice place and the bar man was very pleasant. When I made a negative it constructed view I was met with the answer I expected and the very reason why I didn’t say anything inside the pub. “We are happy” (so what you say doesn’t t matter. Shame business take this response to constructive feedback.
We booked in here for Sunday lunch and were very excited, but unfortuantely left very disappointed. Things started well with good service and good starters, but then it all went downhill. After having our starters taken, we waited around 40 minutes for our mains which was strange as there was only a handful of tables eating. We had empty drinks glasses for around 30 minutes of this time and had to getup and get a server to request new drinks. Main course came and it was a huge let down. The beef was okay, but the lamb was one of the greyest bits of meat i've seen, even stranger as we were informed it came very pink. I don't think the cauliflower cheese had an ounce of cheese in it and everything else was just average. We were sat in the garden which looks lovely, but our location at the back probably contributed to us being ignored by staff and even got the added bonus of watching the chefs sit at their table and smoke. Probably just caught them at a bad time/bad day, but won't be returning. Go next door instead, we've had much better food and service there
