Quiet, cool spot to share with family and friends. Drinks and food were both excellent. The way it should be when you go to a place like this. We love to cook, and we felt like our food and drinks were made with care like our own family was serving us all weekend. Thank you.
We had a post wedding celebration with 26 family and friends and loved it. Matt in the Kitchen was brilliant and the steaks are to die for. Kyle, Kendra and the team were attentive and went the extra to make the night special. A must try if in Omaha
Great spot with food that impressed. While the menu for food and drinks is small, they got the nail on the head with every item. The options feel curated and perfected. The ambience cannot be topped in this restaurant and the staff was wonderful and friendly.
Very unique! Quite place and the food was wonderful! When they bring your ticket to the table, it is in an old book instead of a credit card folder. Our book was an Arithmetic book from 1958. It took me back to when I was in school and the style of quality of books that were used I in school back then. Staff was very friendly.
Passing through Omaha and happened upon this restaurant that was close to our hotel. The food was absolutely amazing! The wait staff was polite and friendly and gave great wine recommendations. Very much enjoyed our visit!
Drove from wichita to celebrate a birthday and Jack the server was amazing, customizing our drinks and best steak ive had in ages. Complements to the chef!
We ordered a hanger steak and a filet mignon. For some reason, I thought the hanger steak was better even though it was half the price. Maybe it was the mouthwatering sauce that the hanger steak was on top of. Overall, Monarch is a beautiful, chill restaurant with great food.
Very impressed with the presentation!! Got the 21 day aged sirloin with a side of carrots. Enjoyed the s'more dessert to finish off dinner
Tried the chef's tasting and it was delightful. Perfectly portioned courses starting small and growing in complexity and intensity of flavor, but never overwhelming in the balance. The reserve wine list paired exquisitely with the entire selection. Each dish was explained as to the ingredients and some of the special preparation done for it by either the server, or more frequently, by the chef who made the dish. It was an awesome meal, a great experience, and I look forward to going back in the future.
Ate dinner with my daughter…really great! I had salmon and she had steak, both were awesome. Crème brûlée was excellent. Great atmosphere as well.
My colleague and I both enjoyed a delicious meal with friendly service in a beautifully decorated restaurant in a convenient location. We loved their Rib Eye, Filet, and Creme Brulee
Went for a team dinner with an out of town visitor and Monarch didn't disappoint. The ambiance is modern and relaxed. The service is excellent without feeling stuffy. The food was amazing.
Amazing customer service and delicious food. Would recommend for dates, dining out, and celebratory dinner. Cocktails and tomahawk steak were on point. Compliments to the chef!
We love our meal, and the experience there! The food was fantastic, friendly service, clean, & elegant!!
Perfect visit. The breakfast menu has all the favorites (Eggs Benedict, granola bowls etc.) and the service was superb. It’s also very nicely decorated and the music is lovely.
Literally wanted to eat everything on the menu! It was so good, we even came back for breakfast! Service was awesome. Definitely worth it.
I cannot begin to express how much my husband and I loved our experience here! We made reservations for dinner after our courthouse wedding and we were treated like royalty. Our friends and family had a wonderful time! The food, the service, the atmosphere, etc. Just perfect. Staff were so unbelievably kind. They served deliciously bubbly champagne for all of us while we waited for our table and provided a decadent dessert on the house. They spoke on the history of the restaurant and hotel which us history buffs enjoyed. The decor was just beautiful. The everyday decor and the seasonal as well. We loved taking some pictures in front of the Christmas tree. I highly recommend this restaurant for any celebration or just a simple dinner. You will not be disappointed!
First time here, this place is incredible. It's beautiful, clean, romantic, calm. Jack was our server. He was incredible, super professional, nice, and new how to do his job very well. The food was outstanding. I have never had a steak that was cut for me and as tender and juicy and full of flavor, the watercrest on top was a wonderful touch, the sauce they use is wonderful same thing with the aoli. The bruschetta was the best I ever had, the bread and sweet butter was amazing. My husband got a small ceaser salad and he almost fainted it was so good apparently. We told Jack how amazing everything was and for $28 for the best steak and fries plus two sauces just out of this world good. Jack gave us free desert too. Jack your the best server we have had. We will be back for more excellent service.
What an upscale place to go to. Any kind of drink you want great appetizers and great entrees. Thank you jaz for the great service as always Will be back for sure
We had a wonderful experience after the opera this last Sunday. I was a huge fan of this place before the pandemic and since then it changed head chefs. I have been hesitant to return. It was slow for a Sunday, but there are not a whole lot of places open at that time downtown. Truthfully, I was pleasantly surprised. They had a great wine selection which is always key, and they brought us a better vintage than what was on the menu, so we were off to a good start. I got the charcuterie, the short rib and the poached pear dessert. All were well integrated dishes. Wished for a bit more options, may be a special, but I appreciate that what they did have they made well and with great technique and attention to ingredients. I really don’t like it when we have to choose our sides, so often that feels like an afterthought, so in a town of steakhouses this place does a good job at presenting thoughtful dishes.
Wow. I was pleasantly surprised with such a great experience at this restaurant. My husband and I went here with our friends for NYE dinner and it was a fixed holiday menu. Even though I would consider this dinner slightly overpriced, it was still a 5 star experience for me. The champagne was so smooth and amazing, the steak I had was cooked to perfection with the most incredible sauce and the rest of the dinner/dessert experience was amazing. My water glass was always full and the server left us alone enough to enjoy the night. I would definitely recommend trying Monarch out if you haven't before. Just know, this is a fancy dinner ($$$) not a casual night!
This is a fun place! Lots of stuff to see and the people watching is excellent. We shared the wyobi steak tartar...this was a first for me, but we heard they have the best in the area, "can't go wrong", so we tried it. It was excellent! The bar tender did an amazing job too...professional at every level. Highly recommended!!!
The food was delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was tender and well seasoned. The desserts were amazing and prefect for sharing (or not sharing too). The service was quick and very friendly. I will definitely be back.
Hotel Deco - Omaha, NE Monarch Restaurant Quiet, romantic place within Hotel Deco. Went to brunch - with 30 mins to go, the place was empty until a large party arrived. Excellent service! Amazing, chef-inspired food full of flavor. Coffee, delicious. No reservations required. Highly recommend. Will return for brunch, try other items and the dinner menu. Price: $12-15 per meal.
Delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere, its a spot I plan to return to. The restaurant is located in the downtown area, inside the hotel Deco. This was my initial visit and I'm hoping that the food is consistent in the future, because if it is, it will be one of my favorite spots in Omaha. As well, I do hope that the service is friendlier in the future. It was professional, but a bit cold which was a little uninviting (from our server). The hostess and everyone else was very warm however. Blistered shisito peppers 5 stars This is the best shisito dish I've had in Omaha so far. Often they are flavored with an Asian sauce, but the chef let's these peppers shine on their own. Herb marinated Olives 5 stars Remiscent of my visit to Chicago when I was staying on the Fairmont gold floor. Wagyu steak and frites 5 star The sauce was so good on this. The flavor was subtle but I couldn't get enough. It was exceptionally tender. Pork shank 4.5 star Technically it could be a 5 star, my best friend certainly thought so. The outside was a bit over cooked but the inside closer to the bone was perfect. It might be an issue with the size which is absolutely massive. If you're hungry I'd recommend this. Lemon tart 4.5 stars A bit too sweet for me, but still an excellent dessert. The crust is stiff like a cookie so it took a bit too break. Creme brulee 5 star One of the best versions I've had. The sugar on top was a bit thick, I would have preferred a thinner crust, but the perfect consistency of the custard won me over. Parking is metered street parking but there is a parking lot. We paid $10 for the evening. We did not inquire if there was other parking available (for example in the hotel)
Beautiful restaurant with fine dining experience. Hand crafted drinks and dishes that are top notch. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
The food was really good & very unique. We went for lunch and the servings were a perfect size. Service was great too. We had the potatoe and trout starter as well as the kale and ham starter and they were excellent. For entrees we both got the ageed sirloin and it was delicious.
I would give them 10 stars in could. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable! The bison tartare was inspired and delicious. The Wagyu Tomahawk Chop was the best steak I've ever had, and the potatoes and mushrooms really elevated the whole experience! Also, not as important, but a special kudos to the music selection in the background; it created a very relaxed, chill atmosphere that wasn't stuffy or pretentious.
Amazing. I have tinnitus and have to be in a quiet environment. The Monarch was perfect. Jaz was our waitress and we loved her. It was our first time there but it'll be our go-to restaurant for special occasions (1 hour drive each way)
We hosted a dinner for our company in Monarch’s private dining room last night. We had 18 guests and all had a wonderful time. Nathan made the planning process so easy and was so accommodating to what our group wanted and needed. We’ve hosted several dinners throughout the years and had by far the best customer service from Monarch. The food was great and the service even better! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a special night out!
My husband and I went to the Monarch for my birthday and genuinely? This will be my pick for my birthday every year. The atmosphere was immaculate. The staff were all amazing! Everyone was kind and friendly! I ordered the duck and it was the best duck I ever had! 100/10 would absolutely recommend! Can’t wait to go again!!
Tasteful atmosphere. Jack was attentive server, never intruding. We started with steak tartare which was perfectly served and portions for three adults. Suggested wine pairings for the chicken roulade, beef Wellington and steak were spot on. Meal presentation was was fit for aking. A wonderful Friday night surprise.
The atmosphere was great. Cool, moody, and classy. The drink menu looked fun, but we chose wine instead. Our waitress was fun, knowledgeable, and attentive. She asked if we were going to a show nearby to ensure our dining experience would be done in time! Food was great. I got the tortellini pesto but subbed for homemade noodles. I added salmon and it was great! Lacked a bit of flavor for me, but not complaining.
We were taking in a show at the Orpheum and the Monarch was right across the street. Making a reservation online was no problem, and we got a good parking spot in the street around the corner. The lighting was low and comfortable. The mood was quiet and upscale. The menu was good, albeit a bit pricey as dinner for two with splitting an entree was $120 before tip. Our server was friendly and engaged us in dialog, but the food was somewhat slow to come out and although I would say the food quality was high, the portions seemed very small. This seems to be the norm when eating downtown in the Big O these days.
I ate here twice while staying in Omaha. The biscuits and gravy with sausage were phenomenal. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had. I also visited for dinner and had steak and frites which was okay. The only complaint is that there was nobody at all dining in with us and it took them almost an hour to bring our dinner.
Really great place. Romantic atmosphere good for business dinner as well. Beautiful bar at entrance. Tables were wobbly and squeaky but food and wine great. High quality ingredients and impressive preparation and presentation. Highly recommended.
The atmosphere is nice with unique vibes. The drinks were great and some of the food well remember but for the triple digit bill we paid, the food and service just didn’t match up. Appetizers was super tasty but the steak was undercooked and not very flavorful and my wife had to go order herself a second drink. The waiter apologized but again, for what we paid, shouldn’t happen.
Overall we did enjoy our dining experience here. The best were the drinks and the Brazilian steak with chili butter! We were a bit disappointed with the extremely high cost of pasta with no protein, it has to be a 80% profit margin for sauce and noodles. The worst part was the service specifically to us. We sat for about 5 minutes before the host came to apologize and get us drinks for the sever. She was busy but wouldn’t even look at us for a solid 10mins. In the entire time we were there she was having great covnos with the other tables and staying on top of everything for them. She only came to our table twice to get the food order and fill/reorder our completely empty drinks. Oh, Then the check drop. I won’t speculate too far as to why all the other tables got way more attentiveness but we were the youngest ppl there. We were 10yr veteran servers and so we still tipped 20% but she missed out on 30-35% tippers
Honestly, I was underwhelmed with this place. My friend has his birthday at a fancy steak place every year. This year he chose Monarch. We were sat quickly on arrival, which was excellent. Unfortunately it then took about 10 or 15 minutes for our waiter to take our drink orders. I don't think he had more than 2 tables, so I don't know what the holdup was. He kept my drink filled, but was slow to bring the bill as well... not bad service, but not exceptional. On par with any midlevel restaurant. I ordered a salad and the striploin. My friend ordered the bone-in 100 day dry aged tomahawk chop which they brought out and explained while also asking that we allow time for it to be cooked... this was a nice touch, and he appreciated the fanfare, after all, it cost $250! The salad was pretty basic, just some iceberg lettuce with a few squirts of dressing and some tomatoes and pickled onions on top. It was good, but I felt it wasn't anything I couldn't get elsewhere for a lot less. For example, Lazlos has a side salad that blows this one out of the water and costs a lot less. The striploin came and I was excited. I enjoyed the flavor very much as it was dry aged nicely and cooked perfectly, but it was literally about 4 bites of steak. I guess I expected more for $58... and the sides? They were, as far as I could tell, about 5 pieces of celeriac that had been tossed on a grill for a short time, so it was charred a bit and (I'm not joking) 3 or 4 boiled (or steamed?) celery sticks... like the kind you get with hot wings. I got very little flavor out of these, and wouldn't have eaten them, but I was still quite hungry given the size of the rest of the meal. I don't know... I hate giving bad reviews, but for a bill over $100 for one person (I had a few beers too) I was expecting a LOT more. 801 Chophouse in the area (where we went last year) was a LOT better, and cost about the same.
Atmosphere was okay. Service was good (we did over hear one waiter complaining about his job). One of our 2 meals was good. They did take my over-cooked steak off the bill. Price was too high for the food & atmosphere.
UPDATE: I did just want to share an update that the manager got to me very quickly and offered to cover a dinner for my husband and I to come in again (haven't take him up on it yet - hard to get out of the house!) but I really appreciated this! I was hoping to contact the restaurant directly, but I don’t see a way to email them from their website. My husband and I dined here tonight for our anniversary. We have eaten at Monarch a few times - it is a special place for us because we got married at Hotel Deco in 2017 (when Monarch was under construction). It is a beautiful hotel and beautiful restaurant. Previous times, service hasn’t been great but I’ve blamed it on them being busy. However, tonight was a Monday night and not at all busy (maybe 4 other seated tables). First, we have a reservation and no one is at the hostess stand to take us, so we have to wait for the bartender (okay, no biggie, maybe it’s a staffing issue and they aren’t super busy). We then get seated and our waiter was super nice, but service in general was slow. But, it’s okay, whatever. The real issue, however, was when there was a A LIVE MOVING SPIDER IN MY WATER GLASS. Thankfully I hadn’t drank it yet. As someone terrified of insects and spiders, this really set me on edge the rest of the evening. The waitress was quick to move us to a new table and get me a new water, but if you’re anything like me, this environment is tough because it’s dark and corners everywhere and potential for my spiders 😩 Anyway, I order the lemon risotto with steak and my husband gets the chicken Marsala - I would say it was 6/10 for both dishes, so the food wasn’t stellar tonight. The wine the waitress recommended was excellent (maybe bc I really needed it for my nerves 🥴). I’m not one to complain, but the waitress brings us the bill and they didn’t offer a free dessert or to comp anything after the spider! I just assumed they would offer something given how much that affected my evening - for some it’s just a spider, but that really negatively affected my experience (where again, we are celebrating our anniversary). It would have even been nice for the waitress to ask if we were celebrating just to say “happy anniversary!” For a ~$130 meal and a place where the atmosphere is such a big part of experience, it just puts a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t see us going again 😞 (And again, the waitress was very kind and I totally know the spider is out of their control and likely a freak accident).
We visited Monarch based on glowing reviews it recently received, unfortunately the experience did not meet expectations. The prices seemed reasonable, the menu is varied enough to guarantee something for everyone, and the atmosphere was really lovely. Great art deco design with a nice ambience. The seating was comfortable. Food and drinks were provided with good timing. The service was subpar. Appetizers were brought to the table by the expo without plates and our server never not followed-up after they were delivered. After several moments we needed to ask someone else for plates. Ordered soup never arrived. Our meals were delivered by the expo and our server didn't return to our table to check on our entrees, to check on us, see if we needed anything else, etc.. Our finished plates weren't cleared until well after we finished. The meals were fine. All of the proteins were cooked well, but the dishes lacked the flavorful experience we were expecting. Very straightforward I do not recommend Monarch.
Second visit before a stage show. Prices on new menu are sharply up and too much for the offerings. Brussel sprouts no longer on the menu. Mussels are small and paired poorly with chorizo. Absolutely the worst hangar steak ive ever had. A third was inedible grizzle. Wonderful sea bass really. Placing the fish on a bed of fetuccine was an uninspired flop at best, slothful otherwise. Scallops were good. Probably a better pairing than risotta could be presented. Beet salad was wonderful! Service was excellent. Will not be back.
We made a Saturday evening reservation at Monarch, which ended up being unnecessary as only three tables were occupied the entire time we were there. We were excited to give it a try but ultimately left disappointed. We started off with the charcuterie board appetizer. It was visually appealing but for the $24 price tag we all agreed it was alright but not something we would get again. Unfortunately our steaks also came out not at the temperatures we had requested. Sadly our service was another low point. This was surprising since the restaurant was fairly empty. Despite the majority of the gorgeous interior having empty tables, we were seated next to a dirty rag/silverware station rather than the beautiful empty booths while walking to the bathroom. Our server was hard to find and we had to repeatedly ask for simple things such as water refills. To top things off, there was zero music which felt quite awkward. For a bill that totaled over $350, we expected a much better dining experience. With the abundance of restaurants in the area, I would not recommend Monarch.
Despite the restaurant being empty at 1130am, the host mentioned that they needed to check for reservations. By 1230pm the restaurant was still sparsely filled. The seasonal cauliflower soup is strangely rather sour. Stay away from the waygu salad, not even close to wagyu. More like Reuben corned beef slices that one might find at Subway. The prime steak and eggs are the only redeeming factor but were possibly a little overcooked. Strangely the red peppers with the steak were rather spicy. Service could be a bit more friendly. All in all, skip for brunch.
Very good atmosphere, Server was very kind, but this restaurant has no idea what they are doing. Plates were dirty, and graciously replaced. Appetizers were average, but came out without plates, all four of us ordered steaks. One was overcooked, one was warm, two were cold. Underseasoned, overcooked, and generally flavorless. This restaurant will not be around long, even with a built-in customer base from the hotel. Food is far too expensive for the lackluster quality
Terrible experience. Waited an hour and ten minutes for a pasta dish and sea bass…seriously pasta and a white fish. The manager told us that their head chef quit last week…perhaps bow out of restaurant week then. Now I know why the place was half full on a Sat. night at 7 p.m. We won’t be back.
It’s really simple - hire more people. More wait staff. More kitchen staff. If you are going to advertise that you are open, you actually have to staff it with workers. Whoever the current general manager is should be fired immediately and replaced with someone who knows how to run a restaurant. We ordered, waited over 30 minutes for our food and finally left. Also, $3.50 for the 8 oz can of soda?? You’re making about $3.40 per can. Ridiculous.
When we walked for a good night celebrating my friend, the inside is absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. We were ready to taste some delicious food but sadly it turned to be one of the most disappointing experiences. The waitress left us there for a whole 30 minutes, no drink for a whole hour. Starter came out, it was cold and disgusting. We still had no drinks, our meals came out and then the drinks came in. First of all the drinks are absolutely cheap and taste nothing but straight up like a shot of tequila. Both of our meals were cold and absolutely disgusting I felt sick afterwards. We both barely even touched the drinks and both didn’t even ate a quarter of the meal. The waitress never checked with us and didn’t have any concerns about everything being almost untouched. Don’t waste your time or your money here, you are just going to be disappointed. This whole experience felt like a scam.
I recently got married and asked for a private dinner for about 20 people. I contacted the restaurant to book a private room that the website said occupied 25 people. The event coordinator said it only fit 16 people and tried to upsell me catering and a banquet hall. I ended up uninviting several guests to accommodate the space I was led to believe was small. When we arrived, the room was spacious and could have easily accommodated the original number of guests I had. The room even echoed it was so large. I was so upset that this restaurant could've easily accommodated my small wedding party, but seemed to have lied for no reason. It really put a damper on the evening when I should've been able to enjoy my wedding day with the entire group of 20 I wished to have there from the start.
