Walking into Spezia on a Monday night, the expectation was to find a ghost town, but that notion was miles off. The parking lot was packed to the gills, and waves of people kept coming through the doors all night. Sitting at the end of the bar turned out to be the catbird seat to watch a masterclass in service. Bri, the bartender, was a proper legend. Despite getting hammered with service well tickets for the dining room, she handled it with a cool, positive demeanor. Fair play to her, she never let the stress bleed over to the wood; she kept the drinks full and the vibe fun. If you're lucky enough to snag a spot at the bar when she's working, you're in for a treat because she really runs the show like a classy cocktail party. The food was bang on, too. A colleague on a local project mentioned this place was "reeeeally good," and she wasn't blowing smoke. First up, the Fried Spicy Calamari brought a wicked kick from the roasted red and banana peppers. Then, the French Acadian Chicken Linguine proved to be the business—the Cajun cream sauce was spot on, and the chicken had a nice sear. Dinner capped off with the strawberry cheesecake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream loaded with tiny peanut butter cups. Honestly, if the locals are fighting for parking spots here on a Monday, you know they’re cooking with gas.
We had a fantastic dinner at Spezia in Omaha! The bruschetta was delicious, and our entrées (cheese tortellini Spezia, the wood-grilled fresh Atlantic salmon with capellini pasta, and a Caesar with wood-grilled salmon) were all amazing. The espresso martini and Grey Goose dirty martini with blue cheese olives were perfect. Great service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
It is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever seen. The beautiful decor and the ambience is beautifully invited. It feels like a fine dining experience with a reasonable priced menu. And the variety of entrees is quite impressive. I would 100 percent recommend for anyone wants to impress someone. We sat on the lovely patio. We had the wood seared tuna fantastic. I had the Heart of the Angus sirloin and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked. Date had wood grilled scallops delicious. Don't miss this place. Doesn't look like much on the outside but it's definitely a hidden treasure. I would give it 10 stars if possible
All of the food was great does not describe this experience. We came here unplanned last-minute tonight, it looked pretty full, but we were seated immediately. Definitely not a local chain restaurant. Good portions, amazing sauces. Guests in the party would like to rate it 10 out of 5, but that is not an option. The desserts were also phenomenal. Here is what we ordered. Chicken broccoli Alfredo Kids pasta woth red sauce Salmon ala rosa Beef burgundy White chocolate rasberry cheesecake Molton cocoa cake Some of us started eating prior to pics.
Spezia is an Omaha classic. Love the atmosphere, delicious meals, and desserts! The burgundy beef is fantastic and their tiramisu is top notch. I love sitting under the bright dining room window in the day or their lovely patio under string lights with the stars in view at night. ✨ They offer a wide variety of fine wines for those that drink and a Sam Adams NA beer for those that don’t. I recommend reserving a table for dinner while lunch is a little more open.
We went for our anniversary, and it was amazing. The service was great, and the food was delicious. It was the perfect atmosphere for a celebration.
The patio was amazing! Nina our server was amazing and did an excellent job. Mike the the general manager made sure our entire experience was amazing. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely return. Gluten free options are amazing. Just ask and they will make it GF!!!!!
I have been here a few times and this Italian restaurant, without a doubt, has to be the best I've ever been to and eaten at. Honestly, everything on the menu is delicious and of course the specials are great as well. Atmosphere, not too loud nor too quiet just perfect. The waiters/staff are friendly and are problem solvers if anything goes wrong. Overall highly recommended. Also might have to reserve a table because this place is always packed. Hope some of you guys find this helpful. Have a good day.
Loved the Spezia that was in Sioux Falls, so had to try the one in Omaha. The French Acadian Chicken Linguinie Did. Not. Disappoint! Creamy, flavorful, nice chunks of chicken and veggies. We asked to make ours spicy, and it was just the right amount of heat that was added. Service comes with bread and oil and vinegar to dip in. The little loaf of bread was ok, I miss the good crusty sliced bread, as the little loaf was a bit soft for me, and I missed the texture of the crunch. If you want to check them out, plan ahead and make a reservation. We missed that, and the place was completely booked with no open seating in the dining room, but we were lucky enough to grab a few spots of open seating at the bar. Luckily the bartender was great and attentive! Overall, a great place and even as leftovers, the food was great (course, we only ever get the French Acadian Chicken), but I'm sure the other food is just as good :)
The only ding was the 4 stars for atmosphere. The place has been here for 30 years in some form of Italian restaurant. The new Owner/Chef took over about 2 years ago. The place could use a deep cleaning. Walking into the foyer we were met with a less than pleasant smell. It reminded me of spoiled fish. ?? Hard to describe. It just didn’t smell fresh or clean. It wasn’t a good beginning. But the service and the food redeemed the visit and we will return again.
My husband and I had one of the best dinners we have had in months here. He had the he 5 oz filet with mushroom ravioli. The steak was perfectly cooked and the ravioli was so flavorful and delicious. I had the wood fired shrimp and scallops with roasted veggies and Angel hair pasta with Alfredo sauce. Oh my goodness the fish were both so so yummy and done just right. The Alfredo sauce was light, nice and creamy and obviously freshly made. So good. The portions were just right…and we finished by sharing an excellent piece of tiramisu! We will definitely be back and highly recommend you try this restaurant.
It was a great experience. Somehow I had an impression that the restaurant is not big, based on the building, but it is really big. We came inside after couple of minutes after 4 on Saturday, and there was a line of people waiting for tables. The seafood risotto was perfect. The service was very good and quick, while the restaurant was absolutely packed.
We love coming here for our anniversary. Missed it this year so she wanted to go today. She was wanting the seafood risotto. The seasonal pork schnitzel was calling to me!
We went for my daughter’s birthday and it was amazing 💯 .Great service and delicious food 🥘 .
This place is truly a gem. The atmosphere is relaxed and service is always helpful and friendly. We got the calamari appetizer and Caesar salad to start which were both delicious. The seasonal special Oktoberfest Schnitzel should be added to their permanent menu - it was fantastic! The Seafood Diavolo and Giglio with Chicken and Asparagus were both flavorful and rich.
This is a guarantee comeback to spot in Nebraska! Service: Baileigh was our server and made sure we were taken cared of and recommended us some memorable options. Beef burgundy was a wonderful surprised change of taste from an Italian restaurants I am use to. It was so delicious and felt like a warm hug. 10 out of 10 would recommend if you live or visiting would def make dinner plans to stop in.
Everything went well for our family visit. Good service, ambience, food. Prices were on par with Olive Garden on the usual items. I had eggplant parmesan. Big portions and tasty. Recommend.
Spezia, tucked away in the heart of Omaha, is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Italian cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the cozy interior and dim lighting, which created a relaxed and intimate ambiance. Despite arriving at 5:30 on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was bustling with activity. I was seated at the side bar, which, while not ideal, proved to be a minor inconvenience compared to the culinary delights that awaited me. The manager, who greeted me with a menu and took my drink order, exuded a welcoming and attentive demeanor. My Dr. Pepper arrived promptly, accompanied by a basket of warm bread served with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip. While I typically prefer butter, this bread was exceptional, and the balsamic vinegar added a delightful tangy twist. In fact, it was so delicious that I had to exercise restraint to avoid filling up before my main course arrived. Speaking of the main course, I opted for the Chicken Parmesan, and it did not disappoint. The presentation was impeccable, and the aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. The chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. Paired with a side of perfectly cooked angel hair pasta, it was a truly satisfying dish. From the friendly service to the delectable food and cozy atmosphere, Spezia exceeded my expectations. It's no wonder the restaurant was packed; the quality of the food and service speaks for itself. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Omaha.
I can't believe it took us this long to get to Spezia. Everything was amazing.
Amazing food, great service. The food was unique, very delicious. I wish i lived here, i would be back for sure. Pro tip, the happy hour is very popular, get there early. I had the Spezia chicken, highly recommended.
This was the first time we were here for dinner, and it was impressive. The food was delicious and the service was the best. If you are looking for a romantic restaurant, please try this one. I love the apple salad. If you don't like sweet, it's not for you.
I’m very happy to say that I’ve been coming to Spezia for years and I’ve never had a bad experience here. Spezia is a great place in Omaha to go for a steak, some wood roasted duck, pasta, chicken, lamb, and even seafood dishes. They have got the wood grilling down! All their wood grilled dishes come out looking and smelling incredible! And the flavor is hard to beat. Make sure you reserve your table in advance because this place always seems to be busy during dinner hours, and save room for the banana’s foster cheesecake at the end. It’s one of the best things on the menu.
Visited during dinner time on a Monday to celebrate a retirement. Just my wife and I with no reservations. The place was busy and we waited at the bar area for about 20 minutes. They had some decent HH drink specials. Good choice of draft beer. Wine list was typical. Once seated we were promptly greeted by our server Tory. Throughout the dinner she was excellent. Offered great suggestions and details about the menu. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi. Loved it. I chose the Hunter’s ribeye. Steak cooked with some added spicing. Ordered it Medium and it was perfect. I’m not one for blood red steak. This was consistently cooked with a nicely red tone throughout, with seared crust outside. Yum! Sides with mash potatoes and the grilled onion. Potatoes were good. Didn’t think I’d be a fan of the onion, but it was awesome with a covering of sauce that went well with the meal. Our food totaled about $80. The rest was a couple beers and bottle of wine. We are thrifty when it comes to dining out. And even though this was a special occasion, we still thought the quality and portions were worth the cost. If you’re on a budget, a couple could easily split the Ribeye dinner and add a side salad. And the specials offer enough food that would feed both of us.
We walked in around 7.20pm without reservation. They still able to sat us promptly. I recommend reservation to get good seating. We sat out at the patio, so in the hot summer, we had to deal with flies. Frankie was our server. He was excellent. At no point of dinner that we feel rush. He’s very attentive and friendly. As for the food, it’s very good. We got salmon and ribeyes steak which cook to perfection. For portion size was good, not overly huge like other places. The price here is reasonable for quality products.
I'm skeptical about eating out and have high expectations for a restaurant since I cook all the time. I was impressed by everything about Spezia. Everything went smoothly, and the lamp chop was phenomenal. I'm definitely going back to try something else on the menu.
I loved Spezia! The Rack of lamb was incredibly delicious. While I wasn't a huge fan of their complimentary oil dip, everything else tasted absolutely amazing. The waitress was also really nice. I'll definitely be going back again! 🍽️
Always a pleasure. Food is delicious, service is a bit too casual for the price of the restaurant, steaks are not always cooked evenly, but everyone is friendly, food comes warm, and presentation is neat. You can never go wrong with the tiramisu. I love the candlelight.
RUN do not walk—this place is WONDERFUL!! Honestly this is one of the best dining experiences I have had in Omaha, and I’ve been coming for years! Reily our waitress was absolutely amazing, and really knew the menu and restaurant well! The Italian sausage and meatballs were delectable—and the red sauce complimented them perfectly! Our table could not keep the bread away either, their rolls are the best ever! The food, staff, ambiance, and cleanliness were all 5/5 stars!! Thank you for a wonderful meal!
This place is an amazing Italian restaurant in Omaha. The food was amazing and perfectly cooked. I tried one of the specials and doing so was trying something new. It's definitely something I'd try again without question. Management of a busy restaurant was handled with class and they accommodated us in no time at all, even though we had no reservation. I will be back to eat here again. No question.
Best service at this establishment! Most places will make you feel rushed but the servers here were so wonderful keeping the pace of dinner at a perfect flow!! Very attentive and caring
Amazing Spaghetti and meatballs as well as the fillet and mushroom ravioli. The bruschetta was also amazing. It was so good we made a reservation for the next night as well!
Spezia is a little gem with big flavors. The service—from walking in the door and being greeted by the hostess to being served by Connor—was fantastic! I enjoyed the steak (extremely well seasoned) and salmon filet. My friend had one of the many pasta options and loved it. The wine selection is plenteous and the port options are really well curated for dessert.
Went for an early birthday dinner. We didn't have reservations for a party of 5, but they were able to seat us in the patio area. Wish the chairs were a bit nicer but it was a good night to be outside. My espresso martini was perfect, but just know it doesn't come in the normal martini glass. Everyone else had water/soft drinks. The complimentary bread and oil was a great start to the meal. We shared the 4 cheese flatbread. It was good but would be great if served with marinara for dipping. 3 in the party had Spaghetti with meatballs. Well done, but nothing makes it stand out. I had the Seafood Fra Diablo and all I can say is, delicious! If you have a moderate spice tolerance, this is just the perfect balance. My daughter had the Salmon Ala Rosa and enjoyed it as well. No dessert, we were full. The spaghetti was a little overpriced in my opinion, but the rest of the food was priced well for the value and effort. Our waiter kept our glasses full, despite being in a corner. Nice restaurant for a special occasion or for a wine night.
Wonderful night at a classic omaha Italian home. Had a great risotto and just a really nice and relaxed night out with friends. The star of the show was McKenna however. Smart, knowledgeable, friendly and sociable she was the perfect hostess for our evening out.
Great date night out! Really easy to make a reservation. Parking is tight but it works out. Really great staff and accommodating of a food allergy. Thanks!
I don’t visit Spezia very often, but every time I do the food is absolutely delicious. Everything is well prepared and full of flavor. It’s a great place for a special meal, and I’ve always enjoyed my experience.
Very nice place to eat out, had a delicious top sirloin steak, perfectly cooked to my asking, mashed potatoes were amazing, would definitely eat here alot as a local or if I come through again! I would do a reservation because the smaller building and it was packed on a tues night! Cool place and worth going!
The best restaurant in Omaha, bar none. Food is consistently superior. Staff is always pleasant. Ambience is nice as well! Nothing but rave reviews here! I make it a mission to try Tiramisu everywhere I go to see if anybody can top Spezia, and after 4+years of trying, nobody has come close.
Went here for dinner last weekend after hearing a few good things from friends. The place has a cozy feel, not too fancy but still nice enough for a relaxed night out. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce tasted fresh, not overly heavy like some Italian spots. I tried a classic marinara dish and it was simple but satisfying. Service was polite and didn’t rush us, which I appreciated.
Nice, quiet upscale atmosphere- I would recommend guys should wear a collared shirt (sport coat or suit wouldn't be too much there). Great service- thanks JENNA! The menu was fantastic- alot of really great choices! I had the duck, my wife had the butternut squash risotto with chicken- both exceeded expectations. There are plenty of nice desert choices, a decent wine and cocktail list. Prices did not break the bank either. Think I found my new favorite "date night" place! *and no, I'm NOT related to the owners 😂
They were full up for reservations so we stopped in around 4:30 and sat at a table in the bar. We have never had bad food or service at Spezia and this was no exception. Our food and server, Brandon, was awesome! From drinks, appetizer, main meals, and bringing home a dessert our server was top notch. Thank you Spezias for always being at the top of our list for one of our favorite restaurants in Omaha.
Excellent food & service. Less expensive with good prices for lunch. More pricey but huge portions for dinner. Outstanding service. If you have a birthday regardless of age, notify the server & they bring a piece of tiramisu with a candle. Pasta, salads, seafood, steaks, appetizers & desserts - all yummy.
I recently had dinner at Spezia and tried a few pasta dishes along with the chicken parmesan. The food was overall decent—nothing mind-blowing, but well-prepared and satisfying. One highlight was the service: the waitresses were friendly and efficient, which made the experience smooth and pleasant. The only downside for me was the interior lighting—the restaurant is quite dark inside, which I personally didn’t enjoy. All things considered, I’d rate my experience a solid 7 to 8 out of 10.
We went to her favorite spot for her birthday. Had a great meal with great service. One little knock was we were seated in the blast zone for the a/c so it made things a bit chilly but we still enjoyed ourselves.
Our group of 6 people had an enjoyable and delicious dining experience at Spezia. Between the 6 of us, a variety of different entrees were ordered and devoured! The seafood diavolo, steaks, salads, flat breads and pasta all were expertly prepared. Please review my photos and click the like button if this review was helpful.
Spezia has a wonderful, dark interior that creates a mood fit for long conversations and plenty of wine. I ordered a few foods as this place was highly recommended. First, the service was very professional and experienced; I had a knowledgeable waitstaff and they were very attentive though not many diners were present. For appetizer, I had the fried mozzarella risotto; the small amount of cheese was disappointing but the white sauce was good and overall wasn’t greasy. The bread they serve with the meal was surprisingly good! Very soft on the inside, not a hard bread roll as it seems. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp and scallops meal. The seafood was charred perfectly and you can taste the smokiness! The pasta was good, the vegetables decent as I would’ve liked a bigger serving with diversity for the plate size. I even ordered a flatbread to go (Happy Hour!) and it was very value added. The peach Bellini was refreshing, quite sweet and didn’t have much of an alcohol taste. Overall, their entrees seem reasonably priced for the amount of food, their seafood is grilled and sautéed well, so I would return for that but wouldn’t order much appetizer again.
We tried this restaurant for the first time last week and all the dishes and desserts were delicious. Highly recommend this Italian restaurant if you are in the area. Our waitress was courteous and friendly. This restaurant has very nice ambiance and atmosphere. Will come back again.
It was OK, but I didn't feel it was worth the price. We visited on a Sunday evening, and our initial drink orders for a beer and vodka sprite took quite a while that we didn't have time to hardly get through them before our meals came out. I ordered based on our waitress' recommendation. She suggested the calamari for an app saying it was the best. While it was fine, it was nothing phenomenal, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The breading was a bit crumbly and with it, just peppers and lemon wedges. The breading lacked much flavor. The only flavor in the dish were if you ate it with the peppers and squeezed the lemon over it. Her second recommendation was the French Acadian chicken linguine and stated it was a spicier sauce. Having never been here before, I wanted to follow her recommendations. The chicken pieces in this were cooked nicely, and the portion was decent. The sauce just lacked much flavor. It felt fairly bland, unfortunately. My fiancé got the chicken parmigiana, and the chicken piece was also generous. Served with capellini pasta and a vegetable medley. They also had 2 pieces of able bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. This mixture wasn't my cup of tea. Each of our dishes were $26 and the calamari was $15. I never mind paying a higher price for a good meal I don't have to cook or clean up after, but in true honesty, this experience was over hyped and overpriced. I can't say I'd want to pay these prices, and roll the dice if something else is worth it. Food has to give me feelings to be worth the cost and calories. Over $100 for this dinner for 2, wasn't. Our server was kind and friendly, but I wasn't able to learn her name until I saw it on the ticket.
Pretty disappointed with tonight’s dinner experience. My daughter hasn’t finished her dinner and the server took away her plate! No refills either. She even asked my son to help her collect the plates a pass it over to her! By the way, is it acceptable for server to be chewing gum while serving food?
Haven't been here in at least 15 years. Made a reservation for Friday night in November at 7:45pm earliest available. Showed up 10 minutes early and was seated almost immediately. Took a while to be greeted at the table. When we put in our drink orders we were told water would be right out. Took about 5+ minutes to get water and another 10-15 minutes to actually get our drinks. My beer is served in a can, no offer for a glass. By this time we were ready to order food and asked if we could do so, but the waiter had to drop off a drink at another table. Finally after about 25 minutes we were finally provided with the opportunity to order our meals. Ordering commences. Another 3-5 minutes go by and two nearly burnt rolls are delivered with butter. Halfway through eating them, we are offered additional oil options for the rolls. Too late for that. Caesar salad is delivered, it bears little resemblance to any Caesar I've seen since birth. I taste it to confirm that yes, there was Caesar dressing in the vicinity of the salad at some point in it's life. Perhaps sprayed gently from a mister. I don't complain, I'm not Italian, I wonder if maybe it's me with the incorrect expectations. Another 5 minutes goes by, waiter comes around to clarify my wife's order, letting us know it has not started yet so she has the choice of selecting another option. This surprises me, as I'd expect our meals are halfway prepared at this point. About 50 minutes from sitting down our meals arrive. Wife's eggplant parmesan is extremely well done, approaching burnt. Her penne is extra al dente, nearly firm but that's just subjective. The red sauce is great on her penne. My Cajun chicken pasta is OK. Lots of peppers, chicken seasoned adequately but they're mostly relying on the sauce for flavor and heat. I expected a little more Cajun heat but it's Omaha so I should have known better. Portions are large, I typically finish my meals but end up eating about half. The check arrives about 80 minutes from sitting but only because I asked for it to arrive early. I notice other tables were sitting chatting over 40 minutes after completion of their meals which explains the need for reservations. Silly me, I had somewhere else to be. Maybe my expectations for pace were not aligned with typical clientele. Check is $97 before tip. I think to myself, I could have gotten quicker service and more flavor in our dishes, with appropriate preparation of pasta and rolls... all for much less... at somewhere like (gasp) Olive Garden. I feel guilt at even having the thought, as I know Spezia is a long standing Omaha icon. However, it's true. For the price, speed, menu options, even just getting a glass for my beer... I'll go elsewhere.
