I absolutely love Market on South!!! The food is flavorful, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is friendly. Once you get inside the restaurant you'll learn about the multiple vegan options of food. There's a variety of options to choose from: Breakfast Sandwiches, Waffle Breakfast, Pasta Alfredo, and delicious sweet treats such as pastries, cookies, and ice cream. I love the fact that I can come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and the food is excellent every time! They have a place for children to play and they have board games as well. Bonus it's family owned so you'll get a chance to support local and a family business! If you're looking for great vegan options with flavor be sure to visit Market on South!
This has probably been my favorite vegan spot I've visited in Orlando. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was awesome, and the food was still somehow BETTER than all of that. It was the perfect recipe for the best vegan brunch. Looking at food brought to other tables made me jealous that I didn't order it, and excited to come back and try more!
Market On South has definitely upped its game since transitioning to new management. The space feels refreshed and welcoming, with updated displays, a clean interior, and a nice variety of items to browse. It’s obvious that folks behind the scenes are working to improve the overall experience. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful ready to greet, point out products, and make the shopping experience smoother than I’d seen previously. It’s a solid spot for grabbing essentials, snacks, or discovering interesting local goods. One area that could use improvement: the selection is better, but there are still some gaps, especially if you’re looking for specialty or very fresh produce. Also, a few items felt slightly pricier than comparable stores, though given the upgrades and ambience they’re offering, the value is still reasonable. Overall: Market On South is on a positive path and absolutely worth checking out under the new management. With a few tweaks, it could become one of the top go-to spots in the neighborhood.
I recently visited this place from out of town (TX) loved it. I really really liked the variety of sweets they had. My favorite is the lemon/citrus one. I also tried food from a lo vegano and it was great, although a bit too salty. Costumer service was awesome, everyone was super nice. i think it's a great idea to have 3 different vegan companies under the same room- as there is a lot more to choose from. I have no idea about the parking situation since I uber there.
Absolutely the best crossaint sandwich and waffle I've ever had! The owners were phenomenal! The Cuban steak, rice and plantains were out of this world! The guva pancakes were they best ever!
We finally made it back to Market on South again. It basically encompasses a couple of separate little vegan restaurant options, a little like an indoor public market with multiple kiosks - but without the typical degree of separation ... It currently appears to have been simplified and include just two options now: Vegan Scoops and A Lo Vegano Orlando which is a vegan Cuban restaurant. We tried the breakfast croissant sandwich, personally too fake meaty and egg like for my taste. Although the SO apparently loved it. (I prefer tofu, seitan, or something more along those lines so it probably depends on your tastes.) We also tried the Loaded Fajita Steak & Tostones. The "steak" was some sort of processed mushroom based option that looked pretty realistic, it was chewy, well crisped, and a little dry. Personally a little too on the realistic side for my taste, but the SO loved it too. I did appreciate that it was crunchy on the ends. A bit of some fajita veggies and a strong herb rich sauce over fried plantain bites wrapped it up. It was interesting to try, and pretty good, although not really my cup of tea. We also grabbed an order of Yuka Fries, which were really good, crunchy and nicely done and tender on the inside. They came with a tasty sauce, although not nearly enough sauce for the serving size. Then there was Vegan Scoops with ice cream and baked goods for dessert. *** References to the previous vegan kiosks which closed down, left for historical context. *** Previously it Included The Kind Cleaver, Retro Roast, Main House Market, and Vegan Scoops. It has a little bit of a health food store vibe with a few small odds and ends for purchase, plus a little bit of an eclectic old fashioned vibe ... But it has a nice clean, bright, pleasant environment with great food. The Kind Cleaver had some awesome Seitan sandwiches - their Rueben had a nice balance of flavors with plenty of sauerkraut. Plus large portions for leftovers, granted we weren't super hungry when we came in, but still good sized. I wish we had a Kind Cleaver or the whole market nearby and highly recommend stopping in. This is one place I would absolutely go out of my way to stop at again. While Kind Cleaver appears to be closed for now as a restaurant, it sounds like they are selling their seitan to another vegan restaurant an hour or so east. I was really craving one of their sandwiches, hopefully again one day.
The girl was too stunned to speak. The food is made with true and genuine LOVE, you can taste it 🥹 the flavor, the quality, the environment. It’s so hard to find a place like this. My heart and tummy are full! Thank you!
This place is an absolute gem and easily one of the best vegan spots I’ve ever experienced. Their sunny side up vegan eggs are pure magic—rich, perfectly cooked, and so close to the real thing that it blew my mind. The attention to detail in every dish is incredible. Both the indoor and outdoor seating create a vibe that’s impossible to resist—think laid-back yet stylish, perfect for a casual brunch or a just a quick stop to get vegan desserts. The service was next-level too—warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. If you're after elevated vegan cuisine, this spot is a must-visit. My non-vegan friend was blown away and couldn’t believe how on point the veganized dishes tasted. I live in Miami but I cannot wait to go back to Orlando to eat here again.
FAV vegan restaurant ever.. the Cilantro Aioli is delicious. Tony is also amazing, very personable & always a great vibe.
Visiting from SC, this location exceeded my expectations. It's always a pleasure to eat at an all vegan establishment and this location collaborates with three different businesses. All three businesses make their items fresh and with love. This weekend I tried: Vegan Scoops - Waffle Cone Cookie n Cream ice cream and the Churro Cake and Cinnamon Roll. Soulicious Vegan Kitchen - The pick three with Chik'n Sliders, Soul Brisket Sliders and Wings A Lo Vegano - The Shrimp Garlic Alfredo and Fried Calamari. The wait is well worth it!
All Vegan restaurant 😋 😍!!!! I had the crispy chicken salad. So fresh and was a large portion. My husband ordered a wonderful dish that had all veggies and rice (can't remember the name of it). The banana pudding was delicious. We will definitely come back!
Cute location with brunch, baked goods and ice cream. The savory food is ordered separately at a digital kiosk. There is a parking lot in front and in back with patio seating and indoor seating. There are some vegan items for sale such as specialty cheeses, caramels and stroopwafels and some cute crocheted dolls. Great for families with a kid play area. The empanadas were amazing!
Please open 1 hr earlier... your business will attract more (Drunken Monkey was packed at 9am) Also....Chef's garden for fresh avacodos would be amazing.
Awesome vegan restaurant in Orlando. The best vegan meal that you can expect. Variety, well done, with great love comes out the best food that you can enjoy. The cowboy killer is the best vegan sandwich I have. The close next is the Buffalo Bill Sandwich. Try the Pineapple Ginger drink, if you are into Ginger. The desserts are ok not out of this world but enjoyed the mini pancakes ice cream very much.
Incredible!! Best chicken soup I've ever had, & I'm not even vegan. Grabbed the last flan and it was delicious too - tastes just like a regular flan but better. I've also had their mix-and-match plates before, also incredibly delicious. Will keep coming back!

I visited 2 years ago, and I was hooked! On the very short weekend, I managed to visit twice before heading back home. Fast forward to TODAY they are under new management and BBBAABBBYYY let me tell you!!!! Ok, so this is the part where you read and don't judge 🙃. @ A Lo Vegano, I bought a Cuban platter and a waffle sausage. @ Vegan Scoops I bought chocolate chip cookies, stuffed chocolate chip cookies with marshmallows, guava pastry, gauva & cheese pastry & Strawberry Ice cream , Cookies and Cream ice cream & Vanilla Bean ice cream. When I tell you I was a little girl in a candy store!! HOLYGUACAMOLE!! OOO, and for all my "Cheese Lovers," they have a fridge FULL of Rebel Cheeses 🧀 LORD help me. YUP, you guessed it. I bought a cheese (Brie). Needless to say, I WILL be back and maybe every day until my road trip back home. (NJ) I can't wait to try out the vegan soulfood place as well. That's tomorrow's trip 😋 I LOVE this place im sure you will too!! (PSSSSTT) I can't even tell you about the off the menu item I got. The sandwich was so amazing that I remembered about the Pic after eating the first half.
FAV vegan restaurant ever.. the Cilantro Aioli is delicious. Tony is also amazing, very personable & always a great vibe.
Highly recommend! The avocado toast meal had such great flavors - the bacon and egg being the standout for me! Even the gf bread was great, which can be a real toss up sometimes. And I will be talking about this cheesecake for weeks!! I have tried so many vegan cheesecakes and this one really nailed the flavor. I love that they sell products from other vegan businesses too!

I’ve been vegan for 6 years and eaten at a great many vegan restaurants on 3 continents, and this place is top 10. Amazing food. I got a pesto sandwich. It was massive and amazing. Also got a red velvet donut and an espresso. They also serve alcohol. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures of any of them, but I did take one of the interior. Excellent vibes all around.
I don't think there are any words that could do justice to how delicious everything I had at Market on South was!! I was in town for three days, and was there three times before I left. The baked goods were all tempting, and great flavors (I had a strawberry passion fruit doughnut, and a basil lemongrass!). The food was sooooo good, and the service was quick, even when they were busy! I cannot wait to go back to Orlando and eat my weight in doughnuts and basically everything on their menu.
last time I came here I was a little disappointed that the old owners had moved and didn’t love my experience in all honesty. I recently moved just a mile down the road so I figured it was worth a shot to try it again. I was blown away by the vegan croissant and coffee. such a simple meal felt so elevated and was better than any animal based breakfast sandwich i’ve had. Im usually picky with my coffee as well but it wasn’t watery or bland like a lot of other places struggle with. I absolutely will be back in the near future to try some of the other menu items and i highly recommend for anyone else to give it a try!
Best vegan place I've been to. Food is well done with a fair amount of choices. Baked goods are out of this world. The staff are incredibly friendly and the covid measures meet safety needs. We go here whenever we are in the Orlando area and most recently had their thanksgiving special. It was amazing. Even my non-vegan husband loved it!
First-time visit, exceptional food experience! The chocolate raspberry donut is dense, savory, and delightfully soft. The vanilla oak drink nails the perfect fizz balance. The chicken buffalo sub impressed with a satisfying crunch on the bread and just the right amount of buffalo sauce – easily my favorite
It just doesn't get better than this. The mac and cheese is the most authentic tasting vegan mac and cheese I've had. The food was so good we came back for breakfast the next morning before we left town and I honestly didn't think it could get any better. I was so wrong. The sausage, biscuits, and gravy I've had vegan or not. The creole grits were to die for. In fact I started putting old bay on my grits after visiting this place (it's delicious) just to experience a kicked up bowl of grits half as good as theirs. This place is a gem, a national treasure, I'm not kidding when I say this is the best food I've ever eaten in my life. Eat here and find out how vegan food should taste. If you have space after the main dish, get a churro donut or brookie. Oh and the staff is extremely friendly and they sell little things like bracelets and pins from local artist. Buy one or two things as a token to recall the best meal of your life.
We drive from Jacksonville to Orlando often to enjoy 100% vegan restaurants. Today was delicious at Market on South. We had breakfast - biscuits and gravy and corn pancakes, with buffalo mac and potato salad. We also brought some a yummy cotton candy cake, death bar, and cobbler. We never miss a chance to eat at Market on South!
Orlando vegans look no further!! The hashbrowns alone deserve a standing ovation!! But the mushroom fettuccini pasta is literally an award winning dish. Only thing missing for us was the option to add brocolli, but the pasta was perfect nonetheless, and the garlic knots that come with it, everything was very very good. Me and my family went 3 out of the 8 days we were in town. There is a young lady that works there that is incredibly pleasant and that we all know is extremely rare in this day and age. Shout out to A Lo Vegano and Vegan Scoops. Y’all are doing the world an amazing service, please keep going :)
Love this place! So thankful to finally get to eat here. The Flower Pot dessert was beautiful and delicious! They have a great beer and wine selection and the food, oh my, the food was amazing. My husband had the fried green tomato sandwich, with buffalo Mac n cheeze and cheesy potatoes. I had the Mac n cheeze, cheezy potatoes, collard greens and Brussel sprouts. We both enjoyed the Hefeweizen on tap as well!! Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing Vegan Eats! I drive 45 mins to enjoy the delicious food and sweets offered at Market on South. I love the vibes here and the employees are so friendly! 👶Kid-friendly! My daughter loves the kid Mac & Cheese and all of the Vegan sweets. 😄🍰🍩 🚗 There is parking in the front side and back of restaurant. The space inside can get cramped when it's really busy but there are additional tables outside in the front and back of restaurant.
This place is awesome . This is a great spot for veg and those who like to eat leafy food. The food, bakery treats and craft items were perfect. The outdoors in the front had some planter boxes and the entire places vibe was really great . We were waiting for the line to die down so we could grab some sweets and the sweets🌮🌯🍩🍮🍰🍪🍲🍢 were delicious 😋. Very fast service . The staff was friendly. They answered my questions with a smile . I will definitely come visit this place again. Wish this place is near to me. 😸😸
Yumm Yumm Yumm, came here immediately after the leaving the vegan block party! Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by a gentleman that guided us too the right place too order. This was absolutely delicious and the picture doesn’t even do it any justice. Any dessert that comes warm with cold ice cream is always a yummy treat oh my goodness. This specific dessert was the “Churro cake hot plate” its description is a warm soft Churro Cake topped with Vanilla Bean Ice cream, Spiced Brown Sugar Glaze and Organic cinnamon. This place is really cute and cozy, it has indoor seating and out door seating. There’s also games available too play inside as well as merch and a clean bathroom is always a win . They offer food items as well, so if you’re looking for a cozy place to eat and have a tasty vegan desert after this is the place!
Incredible ✨ Everything I’ve tried so far on the menu has been amazing 😋 Love the atmosphere. Love the vibes. Love the food and dessert selections. Love the outdoor seating both on the patio as well as the shaded area under the beautiful tree. Love the staff. If you want to introduce someone to how incredible plant-based food can taste, this is a great intro.
All I can say is WOW!! You must go and try this place. The people were so nice. And then the food came out. Wow. That Cuban is like no other Cuban I’ve ever had before. And the size of it is monstrous. I didn’t have any room for the dessert. But I’ll be back and I’ll save room. Go now. You’ll thank me later.
When I tell you this is the place! When I'm in town, this is the first stop I make. A great place to introduce a non-vegan to try out the delicious food . My partner is a carnivore and they talk about what will be the next dish to try. The atmosphere has that retro chill kind of vibes bringing nostalgia. My fav is the Cuban sandwich. ❤️
Best Mexican Mocha with the strength and the kick to prove it. Creamy and yummy. I ordered the plant based sunny side up egg, sausage patty, and hash browns and lemme tell you they did that right. Pleasantly surprised especially as a nooo to vegan cuisine. The environment is light and friendly with that great sense of care for Mother Earth this hippy needs in her life🤌✨😇
Loved the spot, the guys working were so helpful and friendly. One of the other patrons was sharing that it was the best food he ever had! I was excited to try the Cuban food because that’s hard to find in many places. I got the vegan mojo pork, black beans, and tostones but it was hard to decide because lots of options sounded fun like yucca, shrimp, chorizo, and even sunny side up eggs and most of that isn’t very easy to find vegan! I also had trouble deciding on the ice cream, they had good sounding flavors and a million toppings. Everything was great. I wanna come back for brunch which they have all day every day. I bought some pastries for my hotel room. And there was a cute vintage shop next door.
My new favorite place! Great plant based/vegan restaurant with a great variety of main dishes and delicious desserts. We went for brunch, ordered the burrito with a side of mac-n-cheese and the biscuits and gravy with the crispy Brussel sprouts. Both dishes were very very good. The taste of the lavender donut, from Valhalla Bakery, was amazing! I’d recommend this place to anyone. They also offer a variety of beer and wines. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
When we were house hunting in Orlando we stopped in and were greeted by owner and given advice about the neighborhood. We have tried the Retro Roast, Main House Market and Kind Cleaver and everything has been wonderful. We are now residents and I am back again for lunch, dinner and dessert.
Disclosure- I'm a meat eater and I had a blast eating here! I took my family here for lunch because one of us is a vegetarian. We got the jackfruit bbq, the brew burger, and the Nashville hot as well as a variety of desserts to take home. The jackfruit bbq and the Nashville hot were spectacular - I didn't know the brew burger was made with soybeans, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it - it was fine to eat, but just not my taste. Everything was well seasoned and flavoured well. We tried the pistachio rose dessert which was SO flavourful and delicious. I will be coming back here. Thank you to Tony for being so patient and helpful. You made the whole experience so sweet. Tony helped us choose good options, mentioning *their favourites and explaining things we weren't sure of.
Absolutely amazing! My partner and I went today, we shared the avocado toast and the pick 2 and 2, we chose Garlic shrimp, mojo pork, yucca with mojo and Cuban black beans. Even more delicious than we expected, and the service was delightful, we felt like we stepped into the home of family. I’m looking forward to visiting again.
Incredible, savory flavors and hearty vegan food. Their menu satisfies all the cravings and accompanied Valhalla bakery items for sale are the perfect ending to your meal at the Market. I recommend this place to non-vegan eaters too looking for an indulgent meal without the guilt. Will absolutely be back any time I’m in the Orlando area!! 10/10 recommend

I had such a great time here! They have a TV that was playing the Wizard of Oz and they have a Super Nintendo you can play. They had early 2000's music playing(which I love). I was overwhelmed by all the beautiful vegan pastry options. I can't wait to go back and try them all. My lunch was the garlic shrimp that was superb, tostones and black beans. I had the richest chocolate cake ever!
Great place for family to have delicious vegan food. We asked the chef what's his favorite dish and we ordered what he recommended. We weren't disappointed in fact those dishes were excellent. Even the milkshake they serve is fantastic. We'd make this our go to vegan place in Orlando..
Great spot for comfort/junk vegan food. Every menu item is tasty. Speaking of the menu they make it easy on you by keeping things simple with only a few entrees. The donuts are delicious and my favorite is the churro donut. The customer service is amazing and I try to always sit outside. They're are a decent amount of bugs outside. If that doesn't bother you you will love it.
Wow, what a fantastic place! I'm not a vegan, but I like the idea of eating vegan, and want to support businesses that promote veganism. The website had some amazing photos of delicious looking food, so I thought I'd give it a shot, and it was amazing! I had the DFC bowl with garlic Mac and cheese, and all of it was delicious. The 'chick'n' was just like the real thing, which really surprised me. And the folks that worked there were fun and friendly. Just a great experience overall.
Great little vegan cafe/ bakery! Great coffee, great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Decided to try a couple different things on this visit, the sparkly vanilla and mocha cupcakes, the death bar, the lemon bar and the flower pot as well as the fried green tomatoes and cashew mac n' cheese. Admittedly didn't get to all the pastries just yet but the mac n' cheese was so bomb! Great cheese sauce and you can get it 3 different ways! Had it with the hillbilly chilly dogs and omg 😋🤤 The fried green tomatoes were not my cup tea due to the vinegary taste in the garlicky kale, but great concept for a sandwich. The flower pot was great! Not too sweet, wonderful desert. 👍👍 would definitely come back and highly recommend to all my vegan peeps! 😁 💖
Terrific vegan food. If you are looking for Dixie Dharma it is within Market On South. They have a half dozen or so vegan entrées along with at least that many side dishes. Their drink selection is enormous including both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. They also have a great selection of baked goods for dessert.
A perfect vegan breakfast! My brothers, daughter, and her Plott Hound (Sasha) enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. We ate in the back open area under a grand oak tree and we were able to enjoy sitting, talking and eating great food for two hours! For the drive back to Tampa, we ordered two Key Lime cupcakes and a double chocolate cupcake, which all were out of this world! One brother took off to Edgewater and the other to North Orlando! We will do this again!
Amazing food, great place, the jackfruit bbq and the desserts and everything being vegan... try the Brussels sprouts especially; with foxtail coffee cold brew, great beer selection, everything made with love. The service is good and I’ve never had a bad meal. Can’t go wrong! They also have super cute art and jewelry and stuff for sale! I loved the little sculptures!
Flavors were amazing! Cool atmosphere, uber eats delivers to the hotels right near universal studios. The staff is friendly! We ordered 3 times while up in Orlando! I fully recommend this vegan spot! Best chili dog I've had in my life! The Mac n cheese is also incredible! All dairy free and completely vegan!
Hands down the best vegan restaurants I have ever been to. Its isnt just for vegans either just their idea is make sure every single food item doesnt contain any animal related ingredients. The location is kinda of on its own little area but the drive is worth it since I am from the UCF area. Everyone must go try it at least once!
Food was great and the service was good as well. Latte was also great. Went with my dad who is not vegan and he loved it. Would definitely come again when in the area.
Different restaurant inside from previous visits. But the food was delicious, the portions were crazy. Was taken a bit by surprise by the price, but when I saw the amount of food it is completely justified! Perfect for a vegan in Orlando. Ice cream had a strange consistency, but was still tasty!
Such a cute market With a wide variety on the menu. All vegan. Can't wait to go back and try more things.
Have never had vegan food before, never been vegan, and really never thought about going to a vegan restaurant. I recently moved to Orlando a couple months ago and was in the area thrifting. Walked across the streeet and walked in to Market South without looking at the sign. The food is absolutely amazing, seasoning is spot on and even better the workers and people in the shop are all so nice. 5 out of 5 from me these are the types of places that bring joy into peoples life’s everyday!
We had a long day and walking into this place brought us instant joy. We were greeted and treated so well by Tony, and Josh threw down in the kitchen! Portions are big too. We really appreciated our experience here. It tends to families very well (having a little play area even). We walked out with our sweet treats in hand thanks to their duo business (Scoops). 10 out of 10, coming back again!
I recently moved away from the Orlando area, but visited for my birthday. The one thing I knew I wanted to do, (I anxiously awaited for), was to try the vegan ice cream here called Vegan Scoops. All I can say is, well worth the wait! They were very attentive and personable with each person, including myself. The ice cream was so good! I also liked that everything was recyclable, including the spoon it seemed. It was almost like a cardboard, Woody, material. The atmosphere was comfortable and home-y. 10/10 recommend!
Fantastic fries! We got plantains, French fries, and sweet potato fries. All were awesome. They have great gluten free practices and are super accommodating. The vegan ice cream is sooo good!
Possibly the best vegan food I've ever had. I couldn't believe how amazing the sausage, egg and hash browns were. And the waffles were incredible! So glad we made the short trip from international drive. Well worth it!
Food was amazing! The portions were huge too. The Cafe con Leche was like drinking ice cream. I have gluten and dairy allergies. Their menu was all gluten and dairy free. Highly recommend!
The food was amazing!! I had chicken cutlets with yuka fries. Absolutely delicious. My hubby had steak and i wasn't able to tell the difference. I also had a pastelillo with vegan meat, to die for.
In my memory, they served the best vegan food I ever ate in my now decade-plus time of being vegan. I ate their 3 times, now over 5 years ago. I think far too much about the place they hold in my mind. Where they that good? Would I still enjoy them to that degree if I visited today? I don't know the answer to that. But I do know the food looked fabulous and tasted even more so. Three times we ate there in one week, and I wish it had been twice as often. Great vibes, great staff, awesome food...

Market on South is a collection of vegan quick service eateries. We visited Vegan Scoops. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was casual but had a farmhouse chic feel. There were a few tables to sit inside and about 4 picnic tables outside. The treats were fantastic. We ordered MANY. My favorite was the pancake plate and lemon berry cake. We would definitely return.
We had just flew in and came for breakfast and coffee. The food was pretty good with unique vegan eggs. The gal working behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.

Being that Austin is vegan heaven it's hard to really find anything better. The Nashville chicken sandwich is the 2nd best vegan chicken I've had. Yhe Desserts were OK but the donuts were the only of the 4 I'd try again. The mac&cheese however isn't anything like the southern mac&cheese I'm use to.The fried green tomatoes had so much potential. Batter was perfect, however they were cut too thick but not cooked thoroughly. Also most had already turned mostly red. The chicken box was my husband's favorite vegan chicken box he has had.
First time there, and to any vegan restaurant for that matter. I had trouble finding it using my google maps...but I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for :) It’s a cute little restaurant with outdoor seating. The girls there were SUPER friendly which is very refreshing! Thank you! Or ordered garlic Mac n cheez and jackfruit taco and my friend ordered a jackfruit sandwich. I am not vegan...I was just expanding my horizons. I really enjoyed the taco, it was very flavorful and the texture was nice. The Mac n cheez looked so good, but I couldn’t eat it. I think that is an acquired taste for someone who loves cheese (sorry!)...but I imagine it is very popular. My friends sandwich was good, but the bread was amazing. Also we tried desserts...I had a pumpkin bar and OMG that was so delicious. I’d definitely come back.
The restaurant switched owners. The original owner had some great vegan food! I did not know this spot was under new management. This should be advertised for out of towners. I ordered the vegan rueben with the dressing on the side and it was not the best I've had. Really dry, hardly any sauerkraut. Ruebens are usually loaded with sauerkraut. Luckily, I had the dressing to add to the sandwich. More than likely won't eat the other half. So, I basically wasted my money 😩. Staff are really kind. 3/5 for the food.
This was our first time here and for us this concept doesn't work. Their are no menus, everything is done on one huge tablet at the front of the store. It took us at least ten minutes to decide and order, it's a good thing they weren't busy. We ordered a pork mojo it was very salty, we both didn't like it but my wife ate it she also got beans which I did not like at all, also too salty . I ordered a shrimp dish. They split the shrimp I'm guessing to make it look like more but to me it just looked skimpy, it did taste good but a bit rubbery. I ordered the cassava it was good. What really disappointed be more was that everything is priced separately protein, 8.99, rice 6.00 Beans 5.00 etc... so that if you wanted a full dish you can easily go over 20.00 an entree. Which for the size of the portions is too much. As a former chef and restaurant owner my advice to the owner is 1. Use less salt leave it up to the costumer not the cook 2. Give large portions so the costumer is wowed not only because the food is fresh and tasty, but because there is a lot of it. If you have to upcharage a dollar or two do it people will pay for quality and abundance. Make complete entrees example, shrimp scampi, served with rice pilaf and veggie of the day. Pork moito served on a roll with French fries. You get the idea. I felt nickeled and dimes. Eating here. The food was good but needs to be kicked up a notch
We ordered the Blueberry Lemon square and a Key Lime tart. The lemon square was good and had a decent flavor and texture. As for the Key Lime tart, it was terrible. It had a very bad, somewhat metallic, after taste. This was disappointing considering it cost $7... We'll probably give it another shot as it seems like a popular well liked place so maybe we just got a bad batch...
I drove here for Gluten-free desserts. They were quite busy and welcoming and the desserts looked awesome! After carefully choosing what I wanted, I asked, how did you learn to bake gluten free like this? The response was, oh the baked goods are full of gluten, but they are vegan. 😳 So, No sweets for me! I hope this will prompt a change to their description because presently, it’s quite misleading and infers gluten-free and vegan desserts.
I recently went back to Market on South and decided that I really needed to update this review. The entire place has changed! Currently, there are two options there: Kind Cleaver and Vegan Scoops. At Kind Cleaver, they are a vegan butcher shop and have sandwiches. The sandwiches were good, by unfortunately, I did get sick after eating mine. What a bummer! Also according to my husband, the Vegan Scoops ice cream is good. It all contains coconut so I couldn't try it. And I was concerned about cleanliness as I saw the guy using the same gloves to touch his phone and also to measure out the topping. That was disturbing. It's a bummer I got sick off the sandwich or else I would have gone back.
Good food if it were actually hot and on time. The last few times i went as a new customer the cooked foods have been cold, lukewarm or stale. They text me to come back in a minute after i ordered and left out, i come back in and have to wait another 5 to 10 minutes after they said it was ready. Then its dangerously cold. I dont know how long it's really sitting out waiting. I've try to call a multitude of times on different days and different times of day and have never gotten someone on the phone, and their voice mailbox is full. Why do they even have one? Too expensive to not be hot, too expensive to not be attentive! Tried again and not only was it colder I requested no corn, they gave me corn. The meal comes with mashed potatoes, they didnt give me any, instead they gave me noodles, and the grits were old crusty and not even thoroughly cooked. Absolutely disgusting, so done with this place!
See my original review below. Not sure if today’s experience was an outlier but it was very disappointing. We took a friend to show her how great vegan food could be. What a mistake. First off , 1 hour 10 mins waiting. When we received the food it was very poor. The gravy for my friends biscuits and gravy was burned. Smelled burnt and tasted burnt. Inedible. The biscuits dry. Our fried tomato sandwich was soggy as it likely had sat for a long time. Inedible. My sandwich had also sat for awhile. I did eat it though. And it had great flavor. During our visit we saw one patron get his money back and leave. Several others asking about the extended wait. The staff was friendly but seemed overwhelmed and really were probably at the mercy of the kitchen. Said there was computer issues but we saw 2 tables get there food and finished before we got ours(and they ordered after us). Only positive was after I expressed our disappointment (kindly), they offered some complimentary desserts. And they are very good. I am concerned for the market because I am sure people will not return if they experienced what we did today. We don’t need to lose good vegan places. Original review 5 years ago I believe any palate would appreciate the creativity of the menu and the flavors are amazing!!!
If this restaurant wants to succeed, it urgently needs better front-of-house employees who understand how to prioritize and serve efficiently. When I visited, there was a long line at the bakery case while both employees focused on making waffle cones and serving just one customer. Meanwhile, at least 8 people waited for bakery items which just needed to be grabbed out of the case and rung up. We ended up leaving with nothing. It’s just common sense: when there’s a line like that, one employee should cover the bakery case while the other handles ice cream orders. Instead, everyone’s time was wasted as one woman and her child sampled multiple ice cream flavors while the rest of us stood waiting. This kind of poor organization and lack of awareness leaves a bad impression and frustrates customers.
