I had an unexpected girls night here with a friend. We meant to go to the sister bar next door but I’m so glad I ended up here! I’ve seen and heard great things about the Strand and have been meaning to try it. First off, it was busy on a Wednesday night which I can only assume is a good thing. But despite being busy, there were a few open seats at the bar for walk-ins and I was able to snag two seats for my friends and I. It was also not overly loud for how busy it was. It felt very intimate and cozy. We ordered a drink each, split an appetizer, one entree, and a dessert and it came out to about $100 with tip, so not a cheap place but I think it was well worth it. The service was wonderful, prompt, and welcoming. They were out of a few dishes but that’s to be expected when you have a rotating menu and use fresh ingredients. We also were there on the later end of the evening, about 8pm. For an appetizer, we ordered a focaccia toast topped with some mushroom, onion, and ricotta. It was divine. My friend ordered the burger and loved it. It can’t with fries that looked like McD’s fries (which I’m an absolute fan of) but they tasted EVEN BETTER than McDs. We split dessert, olive oil chocolate cake which has a tahini mousse and sesame seeds. The cake was so well balanced. It was rich but not overly sweet and even had some saltiness from the tahini mousse. Overall one of my favorite Orlando dining experiences to date and I can’t wait to return!

Amazing from start to finish! We love good hospitality and my sister recommended we would have a great experience here so we tried it out! Brendon did not disappoint. He was kind, patient and very accommodating. The food was remarkable. We didn’t leave anything on the plate. We will definitely be back with friends and family. Thank you team!

Excellent culinary experience. I can’t believe that it’s been around for more than a decade and this was my first time. We shared the cesar salad and several entrees - duck, steak frites, red fish. They were all savory winners. The chocolate olive oil cake was flavorful without being too heavy.

I give the strand a 10/10. It was delicious, innovative food. We had the pasta Nero, red snapper and tiramisu. The snapper was tender and flakey and delectable. The dirty martini was very light and refreshing— they make their own brine and it shows. The tiramisu was not too sweet, very balanced with the tart raspberry. Yohan provided awesome service. He accommodated my unique drink request and took attentive care of us. Overall, an amazing experience. We will be back.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando. We came here for a birthday celebration and it was such a memorable experience. The atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant in Orlando, it has that cozy mom and pop feel but with a more elevated touch. It’s the perfect spot for a special occasion or a date night!! I ordered the steak frites and it was absolutely amazing, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The dinner and desserts were outstanding, and everything we tried left us wanting to come back for more. If you arrive early for your reservation, I highly recommend stopping by the bar next door, DBA. Their appetizers are delicious and make a great start to the evening. Overall, this place is a true Orlando gem and I can’t wait to return.

The food was amazing. We had the pork belly appetizer, scallops, red fish, and steak. Unique flavor combinations and food cooked to perfection made our special occasion meal fantastic. Don't skip the white Russian, very different and delicious.

There’s nothing bland about The Strand. This is easily one of best restaurants in the burgeoning Mills50 food corridor - and maybe one of the best kept secrets in the Orlando cuisine scene. First thing about The Strand is the atmosphere. This is an unassuming, almost minimalist joint with simple decor and a homey, “come-on-in-neighbor” feel. The bar is a little tight, but we’ve eaten at it before and had some great banter with the staff. The apps were incredible. We had these fried mushrooms that were simply from another planet, and pork bellies that swelled with crispy goodness. The service was amazing. Paul, our waiter, locked down the specials with deft delivery - and they were an easy sell. We had the shortribs and the yellowtail, and both were fantastic. The fish was accompanied by a coconut rice and was drizzled with a light curry sauce that will make your toes curl. Prices are a little on the high side, and exacerbated if you hit the cocktail menu (most signature drinks will run you around $15 or more). There are some staples on the menu, but they try inventive things on the regular, so be sure to ask about the specials. If you’re exploring the Mills50 area for something exciting but with a comfortable atmosphere for food and conversation, this place is hard to beat.

I am a repeat customer here, my favorite dinner spot. Drinks are always on point and the food is even better. My go to meal is the Alabama chicken. Servers are knowledge and polite. Music always hits. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Our experience at the Strand was spectacular! While the interior is a bit small, it is furnished very well. Not too cramped and plenty of room to breathe. We didn't feel like we were overwhelmed with conversations of other guests. The music wasn't too loud and the sound of the kitchen cooking food for the guests was the perfect white noise to complete the ambience. While we waited for our food we ordered the Aperol Spritz, which was a good classic cocktail for our evening. Not as bitter as we were expecting with more focus on the citrus flavor and very enjoyable. We ordered the Creole Barbecue Shrimp for our appetizer. Everything about this item was phenomenal and it left us wanting more. We would love to learn how to make something similar for a meal at home. The gnocchi patty on the bottom is complimented very well with the sauce and the shrimp was seasoned to perfection. For our entrees we ordered the Seared Duck Breast and the Demi-glazed Short Rib special they had at the time. Our favorite of the two was the short rib which melted in our mouths. The duck was good as well and the sauce with both meals was what completed the experience. Whoever makes the sauces for the food items definitely knows what they are doing to ensure a proper pairing with each dish. To finish off our meal, we ordered the Tiramisu. We were expecting a more coffee-forward flavor but were pleasantly surprised when it had more of a focus on chocolate and hazelnut. The ladyfingers/breading wasn't too soaked and everything about this item was layered to perfection. One of the best tiramisus we have ever had! Our server Nick was phenomenal. He wasn't too overbearing and gave us plenty of time between check-ins. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. We look forward to coming back here again!

The Strand is located on the corner of Mills Ave and Park Lake St, where arriving early to find parking is definitely ideal. We got lucky with a curbside spot not even a block away and arrived at the restaurant about 10 minutes before our 5pm reservation. The doors were locked and did not open until a minute or two after 5pm; but once inside, we were were greeted by the friendly team and sat at a comfortable spot a few seats away from the entrance. It's a relatively small dining room that's got a great ambiance and decor. They might benefit from additional shades or screens for when the sun is starting to go down as it comes right in the glass doors and windows. We ordered several dishes to share including the pasta nero, mushroom burrata, and fish and short rib specials and found everything to be prepared well. Some of the flavors felt a little on the "safe" side for a Bib Gourmand restaurant, but that is really more a matter of personal preference and not a criticism. The only critique would be that the polenta for the short ribs was congealed rather than creamy. Otherwise, this is definitely a reliable and high-quality establishment, where you can trust that anything you try is going to be well worth it. We will be back to try more in the future!

My friend and I came here during the week to get together for Christmas and had a great experience. We were late to our reservation due to a prior plan taking longer than expected, but we called and they were helpful and accommodating. It’s not a large place so I would definitely try making a reservation before going. There is a little bar at the front as well. I thought the little board on the table showing the reservation was super cute! Looking at the menu, it was hard to decide what to get because everything looked so good. We decided to both get an appetizer, the tortellini and the fried mushrooms. Both were PHENOMENAL! For our main we both ordered the steak frites. It was a little spicy for me, but I still enjoyed it. My friend enjoyed the kick, but she is less sensitive to spice. We were too full for dessert but their options looked yummy. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

The Strand is so unassuming, its ridiculous. This fabulous restaurant serves incredible dishes, pairs everything with a perfectly curated wine menu, and then drives it all home with the best desserts in town. Go early because the menu favorites tend to run out quickly!

Definitely one of the most consistent great restaurants in Orlando. Ever changing menu where we have never left disappointed by any dishes. The service is always a highlight and while the location is small, it works in the restaurants favor making it feel more intimate. Don't go too late though, the menu items do eventually run out so if you want to make sure you get what you want, I'd make an earlier evening rather than later reservation.

Favorite restaurant in Orlando, the one I compare all others to, in Orlando and when traveling. Been at least a dozen times over the past 7 years. Simple, casual decor in an intimate diner-like setting that doesn't distract from the food, the real star. The food is also simple ingredients, but well thought out combinations that are well executed every time. That's what makes the Strand special - every course is absolutely special, from apps to dessert, and it's not at a price point that feels like highway robbery. The team functions seamlessly - the old host is now a server; the owners are visible in the small kitchen; everyone seems to be full-time, long-term, invested employees. Reservations are actual reservations, with a plaque on your table with your name on it waiting for you at the appointed time. Definitely save room for desserts. I recommend you order all of them (yes, really!) and share with your table. The pastry chef is inventive and on point 100% of the time. You won't regret it. A note- the space is small. I wouldn't recommend for groups over 4, and I'm not even sure they seat groups over 6 (certainly don't quote me, just never seen any there). I've mostly gone as a couple and it's perfect, but it's also nice for a double date. Walk-ins are possible for the bar, which seats eight or so. Enjoy!

On our first visit tonight we had the most fabulous dinner. We will definitely go back. We were too full to have dessert, but next time we’ll split some so we can stuff in dessert! We loved our waiter—friendly and great service without hovering. It’s excellent and I highly recommend!

Our family loves the Strand! Tonight we came to celebrate my birthday. Paul, our server, was personable, knowledgeable and charismatic. The food was terrific! My son’s favorite is the soft pretzel with pimento cheese appetizer. My husband loves the octopus. And my favorite is the fish fry which is so light and crisp with delicious house made slaw. The strawberry chiffon pie was heavenly!

We've been here several times now since we moved to the area and our experience has been great every time. The rotating menu always has interesting and delicious food and drinks, and you can tell how fresh all the ingredients are. I almost always have to order an item from apps, dinner and dessert plus drinks because everything looks (and ends up tasting) so good and I may not get to order it again before the menu changes. I would recommend making a dinner reservation and you will have to do so at least a week sometimes longer out because it's so popular and a smaller, intimate setting. Otherwise you can easily wait an hour for a table or seat at the bar. Setting strikes a good balance between chill but upscale. Lots of greenery and wood furniture, beautiful bar area, and you can see them work in the kitchen which is always a vibe. The waiters/waitresses know the menu very well and make good recommendations for pairings. It was recommended once to order the french press decaf coffee with my dessert and now I almost always get it because it's just so good and you get the whole personal sized press brought out to you. They are always happy to see you and attentive. My husband has remarked that it reminds him when we go on vacation to very touristy, upscale dinner spots where the staff tend to be a bit more interested in contributing to that pampering, special ocassion feel. No complaints other than I wish they'd bring their brunch back because it was also incredible.

Exceptional food here. We had the guava pork belly and the burrata. The pork belly was out of this world. Paired with the best ingredients to knock your boots off. The burrata was also very delicious. I got the red snapper and my wife got the mango glazed salmon. My snapper dish was amazing!!!! The flavors on that dish with the grits… oh my! My wife also said her dish was great. We received good service from Crystal. Our drinks were really good, too. We came here for our anniversary and had an awesome experience.

My favorite restaurant in Orlando! The menu changes regularly, and I have never been disappointed by anything I have ordered. Personal highlights have been pasta nero, coffee rubbed sirloin, mustard glazed salmon, and bolo de bolacha dessert. It honestly deserves to become a one star Michelin restaurant.

An amazing meal. I loved the fried green tomatoes with shrimp app. My server was attentive checking in after every few bites. She helped me pick menu items describing their flavors expertly. I could taste my food better because of her tasting notes. Thanks Sharina ! # pro tip eat the rosemary leaves on top of the olive oil cake. They're candied and really compliment the flavors of the orange , sweet cream, and soft cake.... yummm. I drove past this place many times without knowing it was even a restaurant. Its a hidden gem for sure. For those that dont know... well they just wont. But for those that do....they are enjoying the best of the city. Its absolutely worth a stop and many repeat visits. Happy eating!

If quality is important you’ll love this very intimate and quaint (Fancy word for small) fresh to order restaurant. We shared two appetizers, salad and one entree. The prices are very reasonable our total bill was $58+tip. Everything was fresh, made to order and cooked to perfection. The most difficult thing about the strand location is tiny so limited seating. We go weeknights and after 8pm. They do also take reservations. The burger was so good my other half only let me have one bite. 😭 Photos of: short rib tortellini app and burger with fries.

How have I lived in Orlando for all of my adult life and have never dined at The Strand? A huge mistake on my part. Carrie was our server and she was so warm and kind, providing great customer service and wonderful recommendations. Our table never went without water refills or numerous check-ins throughout our meal. Everything was delicious. One of the current specials, the salad with grapefruit, brisket and green papaya, was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. I can’t wait to go back and support an amazing local restaurant with fresh, local offerings.

MENU: 5 stars. I’m still at the restaurant typing this, as I couldn’t wait to tell the world about how phenomenal The Strand is. It absolutely blew my mind. I ordered the French toast and bacon and eggs and I was immensely satisfied. The French toast was the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. The eggs were as usual, but the bacon tasted as if they just slaughtered the pig right outside and cooked it. The heavens opened up as I slid the pork gently into my mouth, savoring every solitary moment. On the other hand, the prices are a little high but decent considering the mountain of food I received. I was forced to loosen my belt as I left the restaurant, full and satisfied. Bravo, The Strand. Bravo. MOOD: 4 stars. This is about as “mom and pop” as you can get. It’s pretty trendy, eclectic, and homely. It’s right on Mills so obviously the hipsters were out in full force. It added to the chill vibe of the Mills 50 area. It’s a little small inside but overall, the mood was relaxing. STAFF: 5 stars. I wish I would have gotten the server’s name. He looked like a tall Shia LaBeouf, if that helps. He was amazing. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. He made my wife and me feel very welcome and had a warm, inviting face and disposition. VERDICT: 5 stars. Oh I’ll be back, book it. I am eager to try their corn pancakes. If in the area, you must make it your sole aim to visit The Strand. That’s not a suggestion; visit The Strand. If not, you’re egregiously missing out.

The Strand is my favorite restaurant, this is the place that you bring the people you love to. I always have the pretzel as a starter its so delicious with the pimiento on the side. If you’re lucky they have the duck breast, its so amazing, no matter what its paired with, this time it was Mexican style with a very delicious and authentic tasting mole sauce like my mom’s. I was delighted by the presentation. I was so lucky to have the orange curd olive oil cake to end our meal. I was so happy with everything they always nail the menu. Its fun to come back often and catch the menu changes.

The food was amazing. Drinks were great. Very chill vibe. Can we talk about how they made me love zucchini? As someone who pushes the veggies aside, they were the stars of every dish I tried. Incredible amount of flavor infused in each bite. Everything was a delight to the palate with interesting hidden flavors you wouldn't expect. The bang of celery notes when you took a bite of the chicken, the hint of horseradish with the mac and cheese. So fresh and so thoughtfully curated. No notes my friends. Just thank you.

This humble Bib Gourmand farm to table restaurant is worth bragging about. The Strand was absolutely delicious. We were in Orlando for a conference, and I researched places nearby for my husband and I to get to eat and spend some alone time together on this work trip. The Strand provided a romantic atmosphere with excellent service and food. We started with a special for that evening of the beef tartare. I love a beef tartare, and must order it if it’s on the menu. It came with crispy bread and a creamy sauce. The tortellini was creamy and tasty with a pesto base. The sun dried tomatoes provided some sweet and tartness, then the ham and nuts balanced it out with some salt and crunch. Next we had the crispy brussel and apple salad. The brussels were cooked just as I like, roasted to perfection with some char. I love a good tart lemon tahini dressing combined with a sweet crisp apple and salty sunflower seed crunch. It was hitting all the flavor notes. The last main dish we shared was the salmon. It was mustard coated, with lentils and vegetables soaked in a buttery herb marinated dressing to top off the dish. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior. We don’t normally do dessert, but it was a special time and we wanted to celebrate. We had a delicious chocolate mousse cake. How could you go wrong with that?! 🤤 Hands down, if we are ever in Orlando again we will be returning. If we were local, this would become a regular spot for us. Loved it!

One of the best places in Orlando. You can tell they put a lot of heart into their dishes, wine selection, and beer selections. Don't expect to find anything bland or generic in any of their food. Many of their items seem to have a European flare from style, plating, taste, and portion sizes. Highly recommend, make a reservation as they only have about 30 to 40 seats total. They are also doing Orlando Magical Dining this year (2021) which is what we did.

I was skeptical at first because the fish was not Cod, it was Grouper. But after trying it I was sold. This fish is nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy tender on the inside. The batter isn't classic fish and chips but that didn't make it any less tasty. The house made tartar sauce was excellent and the fries were like little crispy bursts of flavor crystals of pure deliciousness. Big thanks to Audrey, who was a fantastic waitress and knew all the dishes on the menu and how they are cooked, which was impressive.

Well crafted dish followed by another well crafted dish. I had the burrata w/pickled blackberries and watermelon, the red snapper with grits, followed by thei r tres leches. It was great food night. I look forward to dinning there again.

As an Orlando local, I’ve done myself a disservice by not visiting this place earlier. Every dish I’ve tried so far has been immaculate and I’m actively planning on trying everything else The Strand has on their menu plus whatever specials they chef up. Service is also fast, knowledgeable and pleasant. 10/10 all around.

An absolutely lovely experience start to finish this evening. I didn’t make reservations (I definitely will next time) so my husband and I sat at the bar. The bartender who served us was so friendly. We would go back just to be served by her again! The wine, the Cesar salad, the salmon, and short rib special were top tier. The ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly. This place just felt special and I can’t wait to celebrate a milestone or birthday here soon.

Excellent menu selection and food quality. Great service. I really like how they use local small businesses and farms to source their ingredients. Highly recommend.

Veronica’s service was second to none. The whole evening was perfect. Never mind the exceptional food and to die for desserts. Take your partner here. It’s the best restaurant in Orlando.

Phenomenal food, phenomenal service, phenomenal people! I’ve never had a bad experience. They have a rotating and unique menu of foods and wines. It’s a neat spot and if you are into eclectic dining and small local restaurants, this is the place to go!

The Strand is a modern American restaurant with Southern inspiration that is on the Michelin guide and had been on my Yelp bookmarks for several years. Glad I finally made it. The restaurante is an extraterrestrial in the middle of Mills Ave, filled with Asian restaurantes and cafes, and bars. Prices are a little on the high side, but I felt it was fairly priced overall, especially for a restaurant of this caliber that's listed in the Michelin guide. Here's what we ordered: - Pork belly - cooked with a perfect balance of crisp and tender. The pork belly + cabbage + pistachio + tajin was SUPER flavorful, an unexpected combination that I absolutely loved. I would come back here only for this appetizer and a pint of beer. - Octopus entrée - their special for the night, charred just right, and paired with the glaze that surrounded it. - Snapper cakes - tasty, but I wish there had been more fish and less flour. I would've enjoyed more protein in the mix and some burnt edges for contrast. Ps: We didn't have space for dessert. But many people around us were ordering the key lime pie, which looked amazing. Service was great and the bathroom (though only one per gender) was fairly clean.

Cozy little restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation but the hostess was kind enough to squeeze us in in between 2 other reservations. Our server was delightful and all of the food was on point. This is a great restaurant for a first date, or a get together with close friends. I recommend!

Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Orlando right now. The food is phenomenal, service is polite and unobtrusive, the decor is simplistic yet comfortable. You can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. If you like "farm to table" and delicious no-nonsense food, this is your spot!

Orlando has a lot of hyped up restaurants, but very few of them have been hyped up as much as The Strand has been. It has been featured on many lists across many websites, it has been awarded by many local periodicals, and it has been placed on the Michelin Guide since it started in Orlando. That's a lot of hype. I decided to finally come and see what the fuss was all about one day. We made a reservation for right when it opened at 5PM, and there was a line out the door of other like-minded people. We shuffled in, got seated, and started browsing the small but very intention, and delicious, menu. I ordered a mocktail. I forgot what is what exactly, but I remembered that I liked it a lot. They did a good job. The ambiance of the building was very nice. It's a super small dining room, and the giant front windows let in just enough light to elegantly light the tables, the plant décor, the open concept tiny little kitchen. It was very nice. Classy. The service was good, too. We had a guy, and he was very friendly. He didn't come by too often, but just often enough to provide us a very pleasant experience. As for the food, the menu was simultaneously small, but widely varied. I believe that anyone of every food preference could find something good to eat here. Their chicken dish even sounded good enough to get me to consider it, and I never eat chicken dishes when I'm out and about. We started off with the Snapper Cakes (comeback sauce). These cakes were wide, pressed, crispy, bursting with snapper flavor, and that Mississippi-esque comeback sauce was a welcome zing to the whole dish. A lovely start! Next up were the Fried Local Mushrooms (dashi aioli, honey, togarashi). They were definitely tempura-esque, in that they were delectably crispy and delicate. The mushrooms were solid and meaty and cooked through. The meatiness was accentuated by the aioli and countered by the sweetness of the honey. Really was the most surprising bite of food I've had in a long time. Very impressed with this dish. Next was some even more fish, the Red Snapper (blackened with lime compound butter, Anson Mills cheese grits, seasonal vegetables). Per-fect-ly blackened. Still moist throughout. The grits were a little bland, but perhaps on purpose, because it helped tamp down the seasoning from the fish. A perfect pairing! And I also got to try the Seared Duck Breast (eggplant panzanella, pickled ramp, peach & white wine reduction). Perfectly cooked. I cannot believe how this place nailed every single protein 100% on the cook. A nice pairing with the eggplant. You gotta mix it all up in one bite, though, with the reduction, too, as that duck needs that fruit to help balance it out. Lovely. Overall, this place shook me to my core with how good it was. It didn't rely on any groundbreaking techniques or and trendy dishes or anything, but the elevated Southern dishes they did provide us were nailed 100% and just left you with no critiques. I will say, if you're considering coming here, and you see a menu dish you're really wanting, don't wait. Since I've been, half of the dishes I had are already not on the menu anymore. This menu is super seasonal and fresh. Which I love. Come here.

If you were the kind of diner, who loves finding restaurants and unexpected and unassuming locations, that serve quality food with great service, the strand is your kind of place. Small and located in a tucked away strip center. You find a little dining room with a bar and kitchen. Space is small so you’ll most likely have to wait outside for your table. No matter. the staff will come out and serve you drinks while you’re sitting out on the street. The small menu has a variety of dishes. From fish, to state, some vegetarian options. They even have some great specials. We started off with the cheeseboard, and the Avocado Salad both of which were great. My duck was really the star of the show, tender, and perfectly cooked. Our friends had the burgers, and started off with the local fried mushrooms, which were nice touch. The desserts were great, the lemon cake, and the strawberry shortcake. We’re both outstanding. The wine list has very limited number of individual glasses, however, the prices for bottles was very reasonable and the options were great. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Can’t say enough about the white staff, there, professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and really made the entire experience. Great. Make sure you make reservations in advance. Definitely find your way out here, it’s worthy of your visit.

A great new American style bistro with a seasonal menu and a few classics. Portions may not be as large as expected, but the quality of food was good. My favorites were our appetizers and desserts. We left not too full. Prices are reasonable for the location. Service was very attentive and friendly. I'd come back.

After learning about The Strand during Michelin's published reviews of Orlando restaurants, we were very curious to try it out. Consider us forever fans now after having dined there three or four times now The quality and care of the dishes, the service ,and even the new bar that opened up next-door have become some of our favorite places to frequent. While the capacity is limited, especially in the restaurant, it's well worth the wait if you can book a reservation in advance or try to show up when they open and grab a seat at the bar (which I believe may be open seating around 5 PM but not entirely sure about that). The cocktails here and the food offerings vary every time we go, and they always nail the flavor combinations. The textures and presentations of the dishes are almost as if you're in a tasting menu as opposed to à la carte dining if that makes any sense; it feels very exclusive, like you're in a chef's private dining room! And because of the smaller space, the noise levels are usually fairly low, which we always appreciate anywhere we go to eat. We can't wait to go back and highly recommend The Strand for anyone who hasn't tried it out yet. Support local and check it out this weekend. You will love it.

The Strand Orlando is a lovely neighborhood restaurant. Beyond the unassuming exterior awaits a cozy, intimate, relaxed dining environment. The staff are all friendly and attentive and the open kitchen allows you to see the kitchen team working non-stop to keep the delicious dishes of food coming. The pricing is reasonable and the menu offers a nice array of options to choose from. The restaurant did not have any reservations available on a Thursday evening, but they reserve the bar for walk-ins. I was seated quickly at the last remaining bar seat and quickly greeted by Kristen, who was a lovely server who provided an excellent review of the menu. The Old Fashioned was a solid accompaniment to the first course and the Jouves & Croisille Malbec de Soif Cahors was an excellent companion to the NY Strip. The food was outstanding. The Pasta Nero (housemade squid-ink past served cold with chunks of crab meat, fried scallions, and a creamy truffle sauce) was a unique entry point into the meal, all of the flavors really came together well in a creamy, earthy, combination. The coffee rubbed NY Strip was excellent, the coffee ground crust providing a textural and flavor component to a perfectly cooked steak. The pickled Zucchini provided a bit of acidity to complement the steak, while the aioli clad patatas bravas provided a starchy, roasted, creamy counterpoint. The Tres Leches was a lovely finish to the meal and stood out as one of the more interesting flavor combinations in a dessert in recent meals out. The passion fruit is sort of a syrup covering a creamy, moist Tres Leches cake, with crushed macademia nuts offering a nutty counterpoint to the habanero dust offers just the right amount of heat. All of the flavors came together in a delightful way to end a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend The Strand for a nice evening out in Orlando - based on the reservation availability, probably important to plan ahead.

Fantastic cozy place for dinner. Really liked the vibes and atmosphere, plus the service was phenomenal. Started with the Buratta and the Oysters, which were both good but the Buratta was really something special and I will be getting that every time I return. I was sad they didn't have the Carpaccio that day but I'll be trying that next time it's available. For meals we got the duck, octopus, and Alabama chicken. The star of the show oddly enough was the fried Mac n cheese from the Alabama chicken dish. It had some kind of horseraddish sauce that elevated it to the next level and beyond. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did, but wow. That should be its own starter. The duck was the best overall meal, and i cant see myself liking anything on the dinner menu more than that. The skin could have been a bit crispier, but the flavor profile was on point and it was a beautiful medium rare. The octopus had an aestheticically pleasing presentation but frankly tasted terrible. Next time I'll try the salmon which sounded really good. For dessert we got the lemon cake and the strawberry tiramisu. My wife loves lemon anything so we went with that and it was fairly mid. Not bad but nothing special. The Strawberry tiramisu on the other hand was a masterpiece. Top 10 deserts I've ever had easily, maybe top 5. I'll probably see if I can get it to go every time I'm in the area. It's that good. Overall it was one of the best places to eat in Orlando. The good stuff was really really good and worth coming back to get.

This restaurant is one of those local gems that you can not believe every single person hasn’t been to yet. The food here is the kind that makes you genuinely stop in your tracks after the first bite of each new plate that comes out and just stare at your dinning partner because you’re in wow of the food. I have the deepest desire to shout from the roof top to everyone about how amazing this place is, while simultaneously wanting to keep it a secret so I can still get a table on occasion. You can tell the people who cook, and work here do it for the love of the game. The ingredients are superb, the service is excellent. You feel like you’re in a mom and pop little spot but then menu and quality of food is so jarringly good that you wonder if you’ve actually been transported to a fine dining restaurant in Europe. The pan con tomate, so so simple and yet easily one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. I think about it daily. Do not sleep on the Alabama chicken. It sounds so easy and simple and yet absolutely blew me away. Even their fries and spicy aioli are so incredible. The chefs here have this amazing ability to not only provide amazing high end dishes that are unique and flavorful, but they have done something I find even more astute and taken every day, simple food and with fresh, local ingredients (and incredible craftsmanship and talent) and made them so delightful you feel like you’ve actually never had good food before this. The service staff is so kind and takes the time to talk to you and offer opinions. They never rush you or make you feel like a burden. If you partake in alcohol, get the cosmo or the Tom Collin’s. They’re perfect. I could rave about this restaurant and write a dissertation on it, but I’ll leave it at this- if you’re an Orlando local, why haven’t you had this experience yet? Go! And If you’re visiting town, come here!!! Make the reservation, splurge and order 2-3 apps. Get entrees to share. Get a cocktail. Get dessert. Not a single thing is worth skipping. Make it an evening and you will not be sorry. Make the reservation and I promise you’ll be raving like this to your friends.

Unassuming | Creative | Worth It 👌 Walking up we weren't sure what to expect... But we were pleasantly surprised 💯 The menu is very creative and refined - excellent specials all around and the service was top notch 🫡 No specialty cocktails available 😔 But their beer and wine list were stacked with excellent options 🍻 The atmosphere was upscale diner-esque - with a vintage feel. Makes you feel welcomed. Worth the visit - 👍👍

My husband and I visited from Tampa and celebrated his birthday here at the Strand for dinner. We loved the wine selection- we found a natural wine from Germany that we love, which hasn’t been an easy find for us in Tampa. We started with deviled eggs and snapper cakes. Both were tasty. Snapper cakes were very creamy and soft, with light hints of snapper throughout. The night we visited there was a special of arugula salad with porchetta, which was amazing. It was totally rich and perfect. The arugula cut the richness of the pork fat so well. My husband got the steak and he was THOROUGHLY impressed with how it was cooked. I got the burger. It might have been the best burger I’ve ever had. I love the way the beef tastes in a good burger. No cheese, just delicious beef and this had it. Plus the bun was perfectly toasted on the inside but so pillowy and soft on the outside. I cannot recommend this place enough. Update: we came back on 4/27/24 and got the devilish eggs again, pan con tomate, fried mushrooms, another salad and the duck breast. This duck breast was the BEST preparation of duck I’ve ever had, and I am picky about duck. It was cooked so perfectly- it was the perfect temperature, no grey band and seared to a crisp on the outside. The strawberry chiffon pie was the star of show though. Omg. So fresh and light. Start to end, one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.

A Perfect Evening at The Strand – Incredible Food, Service & Atmosphere We had an absolutely fantastic night at The Strand on a double date, and it was everything we could have hoped for—elevated yet welcoming, with an effortlessly cool atmosphere and top-notch service. We started with a round of small plates, each one better than the last. The snapper cakes were perfectly crisp on the outside and tender inside, packed with fresh flavor. The scallop crudo was delicate and bright, beautifully balanced with citrus and a touch of heat. The Brussels & apple salad was a refreshing surprise—crunchy, tangy, and just the right amount of sweetness. And the pâté? Silky, rich, and expertly paired with accompaniments that made every bite exciting. For mains, each couple shared the snapper and the duck, and we were blown away. The snapper was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful with a vibrant sauce that tied everything together. The duck was equally impressive—tender, deeply savory, and beautifully plated. We couldn’t resist trying all three desserts, and wow—The Strand absolutely nails the sweet endings. Each one was thoughtfully composed and absolutely delicious, the kind of desserts you want to savor every bite of. From start to finish, the service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the energy of the space made for an effortlessly enjoyable night. The Strand is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again—thoughtful, delicious, and completely unpretentious. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Love this place and so happy this neighborhood has some innovative, fresh, good food. The table favorite was the snapper. Love how relaxed and cozy the inside is. The food is seriously good. I just wish they’d put something up to absorb the sound it gets pretty loud.

The Strand is exactly the kind of spot I look for in Orlando—cool ambiance, standout service, and a menu that keeps things fresh. The drinks program features a rotating inventory of craft beer, natural wines, and specialty cocktails that always hit. Their food is made from scratch and changes with the seasons, so there’s always something new alongside the staples. I love sitting at the bar, chatting with the bartenders, seeing what’s poured next, and relaxing in the retro‑vibes space in Mills50. This place has become a favorite.

Oh wow — this is great!! From the name, and coming from the UK, I assumed this would be high-end and a little snooty. I was wrong. This place has excellent food and beer, but is super-accessible. I had the burger and the flatbread starter — all excellent. The price was reasonable too. Highly recommended — an instant favorite!

What an amazing place!! I can't believe that its taken me this long to get in there. But rest assured, it won't be that long between visits. The staff is friendly, cheerful, and knowledgeable about both the menu and the beer/wine list. The food is outstanding and each menu item is selected with forethought. The wine and beer list is also thoughtfully designed with the menu in mind, and you will find several eclectic options available.

I had a wonderful dinner at The Strand. I sat at the bar and ordered the redfish, which was cooked perfectly—delicate, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent from start to finish: attentive without being overbearing and genuinely welcoming. The sommelier recommended a French Sauvignon Blanc that paired seamlessly with the fish and was absolutely delicious on its own. A thoughtful, well-executed experience all around.

Came here for a me date/ tour of mills. The strand is a great spot! Seems like a perfect date night and I will be bringing my husband soon! And if you can get Veronica as your server you are set up for success! She made wonderful suggestions and took her time explaining the things I had narrowed it down to. She treated me like I was her only guest. And the guava pork belly was so good!! (Again tour of mills so this is my 2nd stop and I cant fill up yet).

We dined at The Strand while visiting Orlando for my birthday, and really enjoyed our meal. The grilled nectarine salad was fabulous, and the burrata appetizer was rich, fresh, and delicious. Our entrées were also great—especially the scallops, which came with a farro risotto that I really enjoyed. The true standout of the evening, though, was the key lime chiffon pie. It was absolutely outstanding—light, flavorful, and the perfect finish to the meal. I’m still thinking about it and hope it’s on the menu if I’m ever back in Orlando! My only critique would be the restaurant’s cancellation policy. We were staying about 30 minutes away and struggled to get an Uber due to rush hour traffic—multiple drivers accepted our request and then canceled. We were stressed trying to make it in time because we knew The Strand charges a $50 fee for cancellations. While I understand having a policy in place, a little flexibility in situations like this would go a long way.

This was our first time at the Strand, and for the most part, we had a pretty good experience. Our server Paul was absolutely fantastic, as he was well versed in the entire menu, and had some great recommendations. We started off with the shrimp appetizer, which was really good. For the main course, my wife loved her duck, as it was very tender and perfectly seasoned. I wanted to go with the short rib, but they were out. That was a bit strange, as Paul had just gave us a full description of the dish, as it was a special. I then wanted to try the Red Snapper, but again, they ran out of it. Options were now limited, so I went with the Alabama chicken with Mac and cheese. The chicken was lacking sauce, and felt a bit dry and flat. The Mac and cheese was actually really good, but a side dish. For dessert, we shared the strawberry pie, which was phenomenal, and my favorite bite there. We also got a glass of prosecco, as this was our 14th year wedding anniversary. Overall, this was a pretty good experience, though a bit strange that they didn't even offer either the dessert, or a glass of prosecco for our anniversary. I understand it's not automatic, but I've been to a lot of similar places that would offer that. You'd think if you spend $240 they'd try to make you feel good about coming back, but no, nothing.

Food was fresh but bland. Had the salmon entree with lentil purée. Salmon was perfectly cooked but lentils had little flavor. Better with some herbs infused and roasted veggies instead of blanched to add flavor. My wife’s pork chop special was very good. The Caesar salad was also good. Dishes were artfully presented. Overall good restaurant.

We recently tried The Strand, and while it had many positives, there were some notable issues. The restaurant prides itself on quality ingredients and offers excellent customer service. The food we did get to enjoy was undeniably delicious. However, there were some drawbacks. One downside was the limited beverage selection, as they only offered bottled drinks and no mixed drinks, which left a bit to be desired. The atmosphere was nice but excessively loud, making it challenging to hold conversations without shouting. The space was also quite cramped, which might not be suitable for those seeking a more relaxed dining experience. I know that diner-vibes are part of the charm but for our date night it was just a miss. Unfortunately, one of their best-known dishes (duck) was sold out before we arrived, which was a letdown. Overall, it's a mixed experience – exceptional ingredients and service, but the beverage options, noise level, and space issues may not be everyone's cup of tea. I am glad we tried something new and wish them all the best, but it just wasn’t a fit for us.

This is such a nice establishment, with great food! Such a quaint and inviting atmosphere. The staff look quite dapper, while being personable and pleasant. My husband and I truly enjoyed ourselves. I was inviting my family and friends to make plans to stop by before I was even finished eating. Safe to say that we will be back!

It’s…okay. The appetizers were a little underwhelming, but grilled octopus was cooked well. A tad on the saltier side.

Very good! Local ingredients, quality dishes. Octopus was the star, and mushroom toast was amazing! Cozy atmosphere, around 8 tables. Support local businesses like this...bc the food is great.

The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and the service was excellent. The red wine was on point. While the crab appetizer was tasty, it wasn't particularly memorable. The burger, unfortunately, was dry and completely overpowered by an excessive amount of jalapeños, lacking the subtlety needed to balance the flavors. I'd also suggest raising the quality of the beef and add a few dollars to the price to compensate. There's no point in the dish, otherwise.

My friends rave about this place so we went there for dinner last night. I do have to say the service was excellent! I wish I remembered our server’s name, but he was great, very courteous and detail oriented. The ambience was nice too. We got two appetizers, shrimp with green tomatoes and gnocchi. I didn’t care for the green tomatoes but the gnocchi was delicious. As a main plate, I got the flank steak with frites. It had a very heavy what I believe was chimichurri sauce, too oily for me. It came with some roasted vegetables that were just swimming in the oil. For dessert we got the passionfruit tres leches, and a meringue with berries. The meringue dessert was delicious, the other one was way too tangy and had just too much passionfruit

Cute, intimate restaurant. Amazing service & wine! The majority of the food we ordered was very good (the pasta Nero and the shrimp appetizers were delicious!) we also liked the beef special and the warm pretzel was good. For entrees the Alabama chicken was actually probably the table favorite - great take on southern food. The coffee rub sirloin was probably my second favorite, the red snapper was okay, was expecting way more flavor. Both desserts were delicious!

A nice cozy restaurant in the Mills/50 area. The salted cod croquettes we're tasty and not very fishy. The pork belly was tender and flavorful. For the main entree I had the special, seared scallop which was good portion and delicious. The only thing I wasn't happy was the temperature in the building. Summer in Florida is hot and wish they had dropped the temperature a few degrees lower.

My first visit to this Michelin listed restaurant. It's a small place on Mills Ave that boasts great reviews. Our experience was a less than stellar. While we waited for our food, a fellow diner at the next table received her duck entree. She claimed that it was so tough that she couldn't eat it. They offered to replace it with another selection. My wife had also ordered the duck. When it arrived, it was very dry. When she alerted the server to this, rather than offer to replace it with something else, he brought her more sauce to "moisten" it. I had the Redfish special which was good, but a bit over. Finally, our server, without asking, removed the remainder of my wife's unfinished cocktail. His unapologetic response when she pointed this out was, "I thought you were finished".

Two people almost $100 with tip. Left hungry from serving size and food that was worth half the price. Still it was packed with people. Maybe its just not to my taste.

I must be the only one in this area who feels this place is a little overrated. It's good quality ingredients no doubt, but I'm never quite as satisfied here as other places. I feel like they're trying a little too hard (and charging too much) with what they're serving. I know they must work hard and pay a lot for all the local fresh seasonal ingredients... but I can name 3 other places at similar or even cheaper price points whose food I prefer. I've tried this place 3 times now and it's still a high quality meh for me. And the space is a little too "cozy" for me. Bar service feels a little pushy, especially with so few beers. I feel like this place is steeped in guilt trip. Like there should be a sign on the door that says, "Hey we use all these local seasonal ingredients and we're working hard here. You owe us one, even if our food isn't amazing."

N
Nathan Farias

We really enjoyed the meal, but they were a bit skimpy on the sides. For the price, surely a bit more rice or fried mac and cheese would've been great. If you're super hungry, you might actually leave still feeling hungry hence three stars .

Tried this new Mills50 restaurant for their $35 3 Course Magical Dining specials and was not disappointed. Excellent service in this luncheonette converted into a quality local farm to table restaurant. The fried green tomato & shrimp and mushroom brushetta were great starters. The coffee rubbed, grass fed flank steak was extremely tender served as requested rare, with fingerlings and a rich bordelaise sauce. The grilled swordfish was very good, came over kale risotto but the romesco sauce was much thinner than traditional. The calypso tiramisu was excellent, sweet but light and the opposing dense, ganashe covered flourless chocolate cake topped with sea salt was tasty. Only beer and wine for alcoholic drinks, which includes some nice IPAs.

This place was actually really disappointing. We went specifically for the ribeye steak and it was THE WORST steam I have EVER had in my life. If you had asked me if the cut was even a Ribeye I would have said no- it was disappointing. The steak was cold and was smothered in a gravy (sorry, but if the meat was a good quality, you don't cover it up). My dad is a professional in this business and taught me well. I gave it two bites and sent it back. It was embarrassing to even have it in my presence. Go to Linda's LaCantina if you really want to order a steak at a restaurant (you will not be disappointed or find wacky gravy covering meat) - do not do it at The Strand. The atmosphere was nice. I like their sister bar (d.b.a.) better (better vibe and cocktails). Overall, the experience was very underwhelming and really disappointing from a food perspective.

Hello, I came into this establishment and ordered one drink. It wasn’t busy. I ordered My go to…a simple whisky cocktail. I thanked the bartender and gave it a good sniff or three and then a sip to the lips: another open mouthed sniff.. and sadly. Gave it a 3 outta 10. It’s a drink i always order when i go out, it’s a common drink. It wasn’t up to par and it was about 3$ more expensive than most places.

My husband and I dine here at least once a month, and we’ve always enjoyed the experience. The food is consistently excellent, and we’ve had many memorable meals here. However, tonight’s visit left us feeling disappointed. We arrived at 6:45, ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. After dessert, we decided to order one more glass of wine. At 8:45, we were informed that we needed to leave because the next reservation had arrived. While I understand the need to manage table turnover, the way this was handled could have been much better. If there’s a time limit for tables, a polite heads-up when we ordered the additional glass of wine would have made all the difference. Something like, “Just so you know, we have another reservation coming in shortly” would have allowed us to make an informed decision rather than feeling rushed or pushed out after spending $250. They did offer for us to move to the bar next door, but if that was our preference, we would have chosen it to begin with. We’re long-time customers, and we will likely return, but I hope this feedback helps improve communication in the future to maintain the level of hospitality we’ve come to except.

M
Matt Herston

It wasn't disappointing but def underwhelming. The servers were great. This place I believe used to be the British breakfast diner on Mills. And it's still like a diner inside. I consider $25-$40 an entree casual fine dining. So it's kind of disconcerting to have to have coasters under the leg to keep the table from wobbling. That I can honestly deal with. Out of 6 main entrees, they were out of 3. Out of 5 draft beers, they were out of 3. And also out of 2 of the desserts. At 7pm. So theres that. The appetizer was the best part. The tortellini pasta was creamy almost because the consistency was so great. The burger was good, pretty basic. I went with the Alabama chicken because they were out of what we came for. The white sauce was pretty awesome. The chicken was a little dry. The fried mac and cheese was very dry. So for two entrees, one appetizer, 3 drinks and a bill for $123(w/tip) I feel like there's better places to go not too far away. I've def had way worse food. Maybe we hit them on an off night.

This absolutely pains me to leave this review. I go to the stand once a week and after the experience tonight you lost me forever. I showed up and was asked to be placed on the waiting list. There’s 2 empty tables she claims there’s reservations. The hostesses friends came in without a reservation and she sat them before us. There was an empty table for 45 minutes she claims there was a reservation for. At 40 minutes I went to check in the status, I stood at the podium for 5 minutes while she talked to her friends she sat before us. She was rude and condensing when I asked for a status update. The food is absolutely wonderful, but rather go to the moderne and be treated with respect and kindness
