Opinions de L'Étoile Oyster Bay
Enjoyed the ambiance, the food and authenticity. Bruno was very nice and anise our server was very professional and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and high end bistro style. With table lamps, marble tables and an active bar. The menu offers classics and I spites dishes. Enjoyed it very much.
Nice atmosphere, great service, especially at the bar. Cocktails were worthy of their value, food was delicious with amazing flavor all around. Chef’s kiss! Can’t wait for another visit.
We had a wonderful dinner here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had the foie gras plater, salad, mussels and duck. The duck was especially delicious. The lemon tart dessert was delicious as well. The staff was friendly and accommodating especially our server Brianna. The interior is decorated to perfection and the chairs were so comfortable I didn’t want to get up. I live in the area and we will definitely be back.
What a great experience all around. I didn’t get anyone’s names, which is unusual, but the entire staff including the Hostesses and the Manager were truly great. I called to make a Mothers Day reservation and the woman was very nice, I also had the chance to thank her at the restaurant. We arrived on Sunday for our reservation, we were a little early but were seated right away. Our waitress was very pleasant as well as prompt, and genuinely interested in our experience and overall satisfaction. The food was excellent. We ordered the tuna tartare as the appetizer to share. It was delicious, the kids and I loved it. My wife (Mom) ordered the escargot which was prepared beautifully and came with little toasts on the side. We were brought a bread plate which was a nice touch. For the meals my kids ordered the steak frites, filet mignon and the strip. Absolutely delicious, could’ve used another minute on the heat, but excellent none the less. Mom ordered the Wagyu steak tartare as her entree, and when they say it is made table side, they mean it. Our waitress brought over the cart, showed us the wares, prepared it to her liking. Mom was very happy 😊. And I saw the moules (mussels) and had to have them, but couldn’t decide with which sauce. They had four options. I asked the waitress for her recommendation, and she said the mustard cream sauce. I was skeptical, but intrigued, as I had never considered it before. Wow! Very very delicious and I was so happy to have had that recommended. I recommend it to anyone dining here. We did not do dessert as we had a reservation at another place for Mother’s Day dessert, but they had very nice options. Mom did have an espresso martini which she loved. The atmosphere was very very nice. Tables spaced nicely, decor was pleasant, appropriate music played at a comfortable sound level, and plenty of windows that let in the right amount of sunlight. The service was impeccable. Everyone was working together as a team to ensure all diners had a wonderful experience. I could tell they cared very much about their business. Needless to say, the ratings are true to their number and I’m adding such to the list. I absolutely recommend and know that anyone that dines here will have the same great experience that we did. Thank you L’Etoile!
Everything was SO delicious, fresh and flavorful. So excited to go back and try more menu items. From drinks to appetizers to entrees to dessert everything was amazing. 10/10 recommend.
Instantly my favorite spot on Long Island. We only had drinks, the seafood tower, and mussels in white wine sauce—but that was enough to know this place is off the hook. The tower was overflowing, not the usual bite or two you get at other places. It’s literally the experience I’ve been waiting for on the Island forever. The vibe is effortless—chill but elevated—and the service made it feel like we were regulars on day one. And the fact that it’s just three blocks from my house? That’s a gift from the universe.
From the moment you walk in the door, you are met with a first class experience. The service throughout the restaurant was welcoming and helpful and all three courses of our meal were very well executed. Place that in a newly renovated space that pays tribute to its history in subtle ways, you have a special new restaurant on Long Island. Will definitely be back!
Came to L’Etoile for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! It is a refined French bistro with an elegant atmosphere, beautifully prepared dishes and top-notch service. For starters, we had tuna tartare, escargot, and lobster bisque - all stand outs. For main, the duck is a must have. It was perfectly cooked with a crisp skin and orange honey glaze. For dessert, we had the crepes grand marnier which were flambéed table-side. They have a great cocktail list too! L’etoile is an Oyster Bay gem— can’t wait to come back!
Bartender Gerardo >>> If James Bond and Margot Robbie had a baby who was raised by Sinatra and trained in the ancient arts of cocktail perfection, you'd still only be halfway to describing the magic from G. The presentation? Immaculate. Like the drink went to private school and studied abroad in Tuscany. Even the ice cubes are so clear, you start questioning your own transparency as a human being. But what really seals the deal? The charisma. This is a bartender who remembers your name, your drink, your ex’s drink, and the fact that you swore off tequila in 2018 — all while making you laugh like you’re old friends on a yacht in the Hamptons.

My wife and I went to L’Etoile in Oyster Bay for Valentine’s Day, and it was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt romantic and elegant — the perfect setting for a special night out. The food was exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of authentic French flavor. It’s truly unique to have such a refined French restaurant right here in town. For a few hours, it genuinely felt like we were back in Paris — intimate, charming, and unforgettable. We’re so lucky to have a place like this in Oyster Bay. Highly recommend for date night or any special occasion! 🇫🇷🍷✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Standout Gem on the North Shore Gerardo, the bartender, was easily the highlight of the evening. He’s that rare mix of skill, charm, and genuine hospitality that makes dining out feel special again. He wasn’t hovering — he knew exactly when to check in and when to let us chat, pacing the experience intuitively so it felt effortless and natural. Every drink he made, from a tequila cocktail with a large ice cube and orange peel to my glass of Pinot Noir, felt intentional, thoughtful, and perfectly timed. It’s rare to meet someone whose intuition makes the whole evening flow so beautifully. But it wasn’t just Gerardo. The food was equally unforgettable. We started with a dozen oysters that were so fresh and flavorful we immediately ordered another round. The mussels in tomato Provençal sauce were incredible, paired with fries that were crisp, golden, and perfectly seasoned. The frisée salad was light and refreshing, balancing the richness of everything else. And the Wagyu beef tartare with crostini was silky, flavorful, and probably my favorite — yet it was perfectly complemented by every other dish, including the warm French baguette from their own bakery. Every bite felt intentional, expertly prepared, and utterly satisfying. Normally I’d prefer a table, but the bar was such an incredible spot to sit side by side, chat, and watch the magic unfold that I’ll hope for these seats again next time. Later we learned the couple sitting next to us were the owners. They were warm, approachable, and clearly proud of what they’ve built. You can feel that care everywhere — in the thoughtful layout, the attentive but not intrusive service, and the energy of the staff. I’ve lived in LA and NYC and just moved back to Long Island. This is the first restaurant here that genuinely impressed me. A true standout gem on the North Shore, a place where everything, from the drinks and food to the service and vibe, is absolutely perfect. I’ll be back again and again (and can’t wait to try their sister restaurants). PS. Will add photos!
A new French restaurant in Oyster Bay. I highly recommend this place. Everything is good. I can't recollect the French names of food. But the white fish special was awesome, albeit it was like $55. Prices are not for someone faint at the heart! If you can afford it, definitely give it a go.
Nothing short of spectacular!!! The food, ambience and service were all exceptional. The manager Bruno makes a point of ensuring that each and every person dining there is happy! I looking forward to dining there again soon!!
Great experience! The food is delicious, but can be super rich depending on what you get. Portion sizes are huge! We got the French Onion Soup (amazing), Baked Brie (also amazing), Lobster Thermidor (fantastic), Magret de canard (very good), Vol au Vent (a bit too rich for me), Moules Mariniere (perfect), asparagus (nice, thick, and clean), potatoes gratin (perfect), and the crepes flambé (great way to end). Aniss, our server, was fantastic! Great sense of humor and on top of everything. Overall, really solid restaurant! Will return!
We recently had dinner at L'Etoile and were very impressed! Service was impeccable, all dishes delicious, cocktails and wine top notch. Atmosphere is nice and cozy, works equally well for a romantic outing or a family gathering. We will definitely be back and would love to see some weekend brunch / lunch hours as well. Would also be great to see the desert menu evolve with some additional French classics (Pavlova, profiteroles etc).
Beautiful, fresh food done perfectly and traditionally. Every single course was outstanding, not over done, perfectly seasonal and seasoned. Excellent service from our waitress Julie and the management. The space is bigger and more spacious and makes the ambiance excellent even when busy. The bottle wine list is pretty great and desert wine perfectly finished a round of outstanding desserts. Highly, highly recommend.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Also, Gerardo at the bar made this one of the greatest dining experiences my wife and I have had in a long time. Highly recommend. Gets crowded. If you don’t have a reservation- sitting at the bar with Gerardo will make your evening.

Had a wonderful dining experience at L’Étoile! The atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious — beautifully presented and full of flavor. A special thank you to our waitress, Brianna, who made the night even more memorable. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind — the kind of service that makes you feel right at home. Bruno and his team at L'Etoile put together an amazing dinner for my husband and our families on our wedding day. From the atmosphere to the food, every detail was thought out throughly and top notch quality. Expectations were exceeded from the planning to execution. I’d recommend them for any event or just an evening out to dinner. This restaurant is an amazing addition to the town of Oyster Bay.
We thought we were going to a high end restaurant. It didn’t meet any of our expectations. Ok atmosphere. But .. bread service was paltry and cold. Food was bland. Not just some dishes - all of them. From langoustine to the meager portion of scallops. Service was mediocre. It felt like they were understaffed. Idk. Maybe it was our expectations that needed changing. But that was the first and last time we’ll be going to l’etoile.
I’ve been to L’Etoile twice before and each meal was outstanding and since both visits were on the weekend, I thought a Wednesday night visit would be just as great since the restaurant would not be as crowded. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The good part of our meal was the service and atmosphere which were great. However, the bad part, which is the most important part, was the food and the reason for the 2 stars rating. We started off with the house salad which was fresh and very good. However, next was the lobster bisque soup which was a major disappointment. The lobster in the soup was tough and not tasty, almost like it was frozen lobster that was re-heated. At $36 per bowl, we were expecting fresh lobster with our soup. Our main course was the burger and, that too, was a disappointment. We ordered our burgers medium and medium rare and they were served well done and medium. Additionally, the burger itself was ok but nothing I would recommend. I wonder if there is a different cooking team on the weekdays vs weekends because that’s how different the quality of our meal was compared to our two prior visits. I did not have a chance to inquire with the manager because I did not see one around like there was on my weekend visits. If you want to try this restaurant, I would recommend weekends only when the food was much better.

Can’t review food because we were never sat. Despite having a reservation and being told our table was ready we waiting over 40 minutes for a table.. restaurant sat multiple larger tables before us despite all of them having later arrivals and I assume later reservation times. Hostess dismissed us multiple times despite me observing her give away our table.bartender told me she was the manager and offered gift card but admitted they don’t have a lot of seating for small parties. They canceled my reservation on open table swiftly so I can’t review it there. My advice don’t go here unless you like being treated poorly.
