10/10 — went for dinner and came back for breakfast the next morning! If you’re vegan, you must come here! Get the huevos rancheros if you’re there for breakfast! My husband said the biscuits and gravy were his favorite. For starters, the cauliflower wings are INSANELY good! Lovely vibe, thank you Julia’s!
This is the best place for vegetarians. Highly recommend California pizza and the Yellow curry. Exceptional food and service!
Awesome place! The gentlemen who helped us was great! Super friendly! The food is amazing! Big portion sizes and great flavors! We loved the Buffalo cauliflower (my husband ordered a second one, and told me he didn’t even want to share the first haha). The vibes in here are great, like a small town restaurant with nice music and good conversation. The brownie was amazing, thank you!! We would definitely be regulars if we didn’t live so far away🙈
Highly recommend- Great fresh food with excellent flavors! Only in town for a bit and had dinner, excellent vegan rita pizza and brownie (ridiculously good)! Then came back for Sunday brunch. We had cordyceps brunch bowl (with vegan egg option) and flautas. Yum! Very large portions of scrumptious food, be prepared to share or overeat or take some to go!
I've been in CA for a week. Spent time everywhere from Marin to San Luis Obispo. Inland, coastal, city, suburbs, and rural. This was the BEST MEAL ALL WEEK. The curry is sweet and spicy...delicious. Definitely get something, anything with the garlicky white sauce! Attentive staff who believe in their products. Warm, Boho atmosphere. Top notch chef.
This is my favorite go to gluten and dairy free restaurant in this area. I love the fried mushrooms and the brownie dessert is simply amazing. Every time we come down to see friends we make sure to stop in for a delicious meal.
Why did I wait 25 years to finally go here?! I have a lot of catching up to do. The mushroom platter was a unique experience. My favorite thing has to be the vegan brunch bowl. I love the Lascaux art, the vibe, the silverware, even the imagineered cavesque bathroom. They offer seasonal mushroom foraging classes with an optional three course meal + dessert afterwards. It took me long enough to try Julia's, but I'm a believer, now!
This is a nice, cozy place to enjoy vegetarian food in Monterey. The restaurant has a wide selection of appetizers and entrees, and good selection of wood fired pizzas. We could taste the freshness of the bread, sauce and vegetables of the California pizza. Definitely recommend a stop here if you're in the area!
First off, our server Christian was AMAZING. It was our second time having him as a server and our third or fourth time as customers. The food matches the service and is one of the few places where both have us saying how much we look forward to returning. Don't forget the deserts. The candy cap mushroom caramel sauce was awesome on the brownie with rice ice cream. So good!
Never fails to impress and I’m not even vegetarian. My wife and I eat here every time we visit the Monterey Peninsula (3-4 times per year). Even when the servers are super busy, they’re always on their best game. I always leave feeling fulfilled and well-nourished, but never bloated — a testament to the high quality and nutritiousness of their food. Also, my wife has a long list of food allergies which they effortlessly accommodate. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Amazing place to have vegetarian food, this restaurant checked all the boxes for me: (i) Food was delicious (ii) Service was amazing (iii) It wasn't too busy (around 1pm on a Saturday) (iv) Parking was easy. (v) Not too expensive (vi) Nice themed bathroom? 😂 Definitely recommend! We tried Cauliflower wings, Faux Orange Chicken, Tamale Pie, Huevo Ranchero and Banana Fudge Cake.
Absolutely the most incredible wild mushroom soup I have ever tasted...brothy, aromatic, a mixture of the elements of french onion soup, miso and a touch of thai spice, and just the right spicyness. Coconut curry, delicious! This place has a vibe where you can dine comfortably alone if you wish. There is booth seating indoors, and outdoors, table seating indoors for larger groups, this is a great place for families with children as well, or for taking the parents out. This seems to be a favorite spot on the Peninsula. Absolutely not to be missed if you are in the area, and the food ingredients are wholesome, loved the touches of fresh spices on the curry and soup.
I visited while staying at Spanish Bay and found Julia's highly recommended for vegetarian dining. I took a rideshare over for a late lunch. There were plenty of tables available and I received practically immediate service. I ordered a cup of lentil soup (so tasty! Great flavor), arugula and Parm salad, and buffalo cauliflower. The portions were almost too generous, I carried half back with me for dinner later. Good flavor and quality all around, although the cauliflower could have used just a bit less sauce as things got a bit soggy towards the end of my meal. I did not partake in the desserts displayed in the bakery case but I'll be saving room for my return visit to Pebble Beach next year! My bill was about $45, bit much for lunch, but again, I could have easily split with a dining partner/had half of the portions leftover for dinner.
Food and service was really amazing. We had the mushroom pizza, roasted artichoke and orange cauliflower. The service was friendly. The bathroom was a bit weird. I just prefer something more simple and full lighting for the toilet. Don’t need to feel like I’m in the batcave. Also all their desserts are vegan. Didn’t really prefer the chocolate cake and the raspberry cake was just ok.
I'm so excited to have discovered this restaurant! It was quite busy when we arrived, and there were even some local musicians performing, which added to the atmosphere. We didn't realize we needed reservations, but luckily they seated us outside quickly. It was a bit chilly, but they had a heating lamp over our table that helped a lot. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance! For our meal, I ordered the yellow curry, and it was fantastic! It had a wonderful flavor and wasn't too spicy. The pizza was decent, but the cauliflower wings were spicy. Overall, we had a great time there, and although we wished we had made a reservation, the outdoor seating provided a nice, quiet experience.
What a lovely and unexpected treat! Quirky with a hippie vibe, they serve an assortment of vegetarian dishes. We had the yellow curry with brown rice, which was so flavorful and presented nicely, the South Pacific squash soup, and the mashed potato flautas. Those were crispy and delicious and served with tomatillo sauce. It’s a simple cafe, but the food and service make it worth a trip!
This is a vegan restaurant that is only vegetarian in its pizzas because they can make them with dairy cheese if requested/preferred. Everything else is vegan and many items are gluten free. I came here with my best friend because she is vegetarian but I often enjoy vegan food. I had the yellow veggie curry and it was so so so good and a glass of wine (also very good). My best friend had the tamale pie and she also really liked it. So delicious. I also had the strawberry stuffed croissant for dessert (not GF) which I really really enjoyed. There was a live musician which added to the ambience. It was a relaxed place, lots of wood seating. The two waitresses who came to our table were very friendly and gave great suggestions. We had an absolutely wonderful experience here and I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. I highly recommend it!!
There is plenty of parking available. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good, especially the salad and tamales. The salsa was a too spicy and some of the pizza had too much sauce (bbq and the California veggie), but we would definitely go again and try other items. The booths are a bit small, but they have some tables with chairs as well. The desserts are a must!!
On Christmas Day afternoon very few restaurants are open in the area. This is one of them with good reviews. All the more it’s a vegetarian place, great Christmas gift after hikes in Big Sur. They could accommodated us without reservation, very sweet of them. Ordered Tamale pie and yellow curry. Both were very good. I wish I know how they make their yellow curry. That was delicious, serving portion was bit small. Avoid mango juice if you don’t like sugary juice. Service is excellent and quick. Dessert section looks inviting. It has outdoor seating and takeout options as well. Highlight of the restaurant is the artistic restroom. It’s a piece of art and one shouldn’t miss.
Good food though expensive. Located right in the center of Monterey near Pebble beach, this vegan restaurant is a great place for vegan people. Except for a mexican restaurant and Julia's, not many vegan options in Monterey. We ordered pizza, which is medium size 12" good for 2 people . Comes with 8 pieces and California pizza was awesome but cost was 30$ for medium pizza. We also ordered Yellow curry which was good as well. Sweet in taste it comes with some rice by the side but I felt that quantity of rice could be more. Good for 1 person.
Food was good, not great. Mushroom medley was very good. The vegan aoli was excellent. Tamale pie was pretty good, but to be fair, I didn't notice it was Jackfruit and I'm not a fan. The dish was very spicy without any warning, but a lot of food is very spicy these days. Waiter seemed to be spread too thin. All the other people eating at the restaurant were very friendly. That makes for a very nice atmosphere.
