Delicious Burgers By the Butte! Hungry after scaling the Bodenburg Butte? This is the place for you. Photos include the menu.
Local family making solid food, the price is better than most places for a burger and the quality is honestly a little better than almost anywhere in the valley. Price for value this place is a win. (In Alaska everything is bigger and that includes the prices of everything)
I would give 6 stars if I could! Had a phenomenal burger (Hot & Spicy burger) which had a great amount of heat. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a great time sitting out at the tables enjoying some sunshine, the food, and the incredible view they have! The burgers are HUGE and you definitely get what you pay for, 100% worth it. As we were finishing up our meal we were also given some free and delicious watermelon! Had a great experience and great food. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Omg… 10/10 recommend!! Went after our family photos at The Reindeer Farm with Seamus the Highland and stopped here for dinner. I got the Saturn Burger, add Tzatziki sauce and onion rings. Devoured this delicious burger already. Super quick service. Man inside was kind enough to come out and let us know when it was ready. (I’m on crutches.) If you’re in Butte, definitely swing by and try it out!
We found this gem after we went horseback riding. The burgers are massive! The fries and onion rings are perfectly crisp. We loved this place so much we came back twice during our trip. We had The Hot Seller, Mushroom Burger, and The Butte Burger they were all fantastic
Fun burger joint on the side of the road. My boys loved their burgers. The Butte Burger and the Sunrise Burger. I got the Flavory Burger because it comes with two jalapeño poppers on it. It was delicious. These are big burgers, so if you have kids, have them get a burger off the kids menu. My 9 year old loves to eat, and he couldn’t finish his burger. The guy at the cash register was great. Loved his personality. Friendly with a little bit of cockiness, but in a fun way. Like a really fun Uncle type. I would recommend coming here if you’re in the area.
Excellent food. Everything is so fresh, homemade and absolutely lip smacking delicious. This is a place by the highway without proper seating, a porta toilet, and slow prep times; but the food MORE than makes up for it. I can definitively say that this is the best burger I've ever had in my life.
I was on my way home from a wedding where I had expected food and got none, so I was bummed thinking I’d have to hit McDonald’s when I got home to Anchorage. Then I drove by Butte Burger, thought about it for a second, then pulled over, turned around, and decided to give it a whirl. I probably looked out of place all dressed for a wedding. Let me tell you — that was absolutely the best burger and fries I’ve had in a long, long time. I sat in their lot and ate it in my car, sacrificing my clean dress clothes and not caring one bit. Delicious!! I drove back to Anchorage a happy camper. Can’t wait to go back to The Butte Burger Place!
Visiting all the way from Atlanta, GA and our friend took us here. I was, at first, disappointed when we pulled up since I was anticipating a sit down restaurant. However, I was BLOWN AWAY! The burgers were MASSIVE and loaded with toppings! They don’t skimp on anything. They were cooked medium-ish, juicy and flavorful. I can’t wait to visit again!
What a great place, the previous raves are right on. I asked about adding spice to the Spicy burger on the menu, and they delivered - it was awesome! And my wife loved hers too. I was thinking that they should add more French fries to an order, when we got out food, but the burgers are so big that they were the right amount. The worst thing I can say is that I wish they had a place to wash up before and after, but they had wipes at least. (Hence one less star for "atmosphere".) Well worth the visit. 🍔 🍔 🍔 🍔 🍔
The food was very good (not great, but it’s not a high end restaurant) I came here due to the reviews and photos, and it did not disappoint. Only thing is we definitely had no idea it was outdoors until we pulled up, but they did a great job with it all. The Staff was very friendly, food was good, large portions, and fresh ingredients. We tried two different burgers, fries, chili cheese fries, potato salad, Philly cheesesteak, and the patty melt. (Only thing we didn’t love was the chili) 4 stars on the atmosphere only due to it being outside with limited seating. I read most of the negative reviews after the fact, and I believe the issue most people have is they are expecting a high-end dine in burger from a Michelin star rated restaurant. It’s a shack on the side of a road, locally owned small business. Things take time to be made by hand and fresh with a small staff, hours can be variable especially in this area in the winter, and it’s a brown paper bag burger. Now being a brown paper bag burger does not make it bad, it’s delicious, fresh, oversized meal that is way out of the ball park for what you’re paying and where it is cooked. I would highly recommend to anyone!!
I didn’t expect greatness. Honestly, I expected grease stains and regret. But what I got out of that unassuming brown paper bag was nothing short of a culinary uppercut to the soul. First off—the smell. Like someone grilled God’s own lunch behind a dive bar and wrapped it in nostalgia. And that patty? This wasn’t your frozen hockey puck pretending to be beef. This thing was juicy, thick, and seasoned like whoever made it had feelings for cows. The first bite exploded with beefy, smoky, slightly-salty magic. You know that moment when you stop chewing mid-bite just to process what’s happening? That. The cheese was molten. Not melted—molten. It clung to everything in the best way, daring gravity to ruin your shirt. Spoiler: it probably will. Worth it. A little crunch from pickles with just the right vinegar snap, onions that had been either grilled or whispered to by angels, and a sauce I can only describe as “what Big Macs dream of becoming when they grow up.” No fancy plate. No craft cocktail. Just a grease-kissed brown bag that said, “I don’t need presentation—I have flavor.” Final Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you ever find yourself handed a burger from a brown paper bag, take it. Eat it. Let it ruin every other burger for you. This wasn’t fast food. It was fast transcendence.
We're sure glad we stopped here for lunch after exploring the Knik area. The Chef's burger was good, fresh ground beef and generous size plus lots of guacamole, but the Gyro absolutely stole the show. Delicious! The sauce (tzakiki?) was flavorful and the whole thing was wonderful. The owner was really friendly while we waited for our food. I wish we had a location back home because we'd eat here all the time if we could
The sign might be a little faded, but the service is great! The staff was friendly and kind. We had a large order so it took a little bit of time, but not longer than expected. Everything was cooked to order and correctly assembled. We have a couple of picky eaters... Food was great! Crispy fries and onion rings! Delicious burgers! Good portion sizes! They had a variety of canned soda too. The view is great and location was easy to find! Thank you for a wonderful lunch!!
If you’re looking for a gold nugget of a place tucked away at the base of a beautiful mountain top this place is for you! Feast your eyes with this breathtaking view and your bellies with the best burgers money could ever buy! Jose has been running this family owned burger joint for over 3 years and his passion for crafting mouthwatering burgers and fries is something anyone would be delighted to experience. I highly recommend you check out the Butte Burger Place. It’s worth every penny! A burger joint with heart and soul is all I need to know and I’m there! Don’t be taken back by the Dingy looking shack it’s the inside that counts babes!!! If you’re in the area or visiting Alaska , please go and support this small business you won’t regret it! Go eat there Bro! P.s COME HUNGRY!
I like to stop for a burger after doing outdoor treks in the area. And I feel like their French fry quality has improved since the first time I ate here. Beautiful surroundings as it's right there under pioneer peak!
Hit The Butte Burger Place for a lunch after our UTV Tour; burgers were good and messy. Onion rings were very good (needed some salt) too. No inside seating but there is some outdoor seating at some stools under roof and then some picnic tables by the parking lot/road. Glad we hit this place.
Good food option available near Palmer. However, the prices are a bit expensive for a street side cafe which I am not surprised as this is Alaska, everything is expensive here. Good portion size and great taste. However, my burger was kinda falling apart as it was just too big. Great views of the lazy mountains when u sit and eat on the bench near the highway. Everything seems freshly made.
Went here because of all the great reviews but thought it was just ok. The gentleman who took our order was a bit rude. The burgers were large and freshly made, and tasted.... average. There were a few picnic tables but on a rather busy highway so not the nicest place to sit out and eat. They had a large area to the side of the building, too bad the tables weren't there so at least they wouldn't be right on the highway.
I ordered the Butte Burger and it was terrible. The patties had ZERO char or browning. The meat had a sad grey-only look with no color variation. It was as dry as a burger can get, even with double patties. The american cheese wasn't melted (or even warm). The bun wasn't toasted and was low quality. No special sauce, just had mayo, pickle, tomato and lettuce. It was incredibly disappointing, my wife called it a "straight up no-love burger." It was $25, after tip, for one burger only (it is double patties though). I was expecting something decent at least. All I got was a bad memory. *in response to the owner/manager I did eat here, there's nothing else around really, can't mistake it. We were hungry after the Reindeer Farm and Musk Ox farm. I'm from Oregon, I have no dog in this fight. I left an honest review based purely on the burger you served me.
