Opinions de Old Chicago Pizza Petaluma
Great tasting pizza, this is definitely the closest thing you'll get to a real chicago pizza in the north bay area. Servers were friendly and checked on our drinks quite often. I would definitely come back again.
Delicous deep dish pizza! True, it's pricey, but so filling that I get a meal out of each slice. The yeasty crust is perfectly balanced by the flavorful sauce. Toppings and cheese are nice and proportional. It was surprisingly busy on a Thursday evening. The waitstaff was attentive and efficient. I gets very noisy, but I was too busy eating to worry about that. Keep the deep dish tradition alive Old Chicago Pizza!
Old Chicago Pizza Restaurant is a lively and well known pizza spot where you get a wide variety of deep dish and traditional pizzas, a strong beer selection, and a fun sit down atmosphere that works well for families, groups, or casual nights out, and the pizzas come out hot with plenty of toppings, the menu offers good variety beyond pizza, and service is generally attentive, even though the restaurant can get loud, waits can be long during peak hours, and prices feel higher than basic pizza chains.
Nostalgic for us, haven't been in 20 years. Great downtown anchor since 1978. They must be doing something right. Pesto with pizza is great. Service was outstanding and they were packed. Salad was fresh
Special date with my special friend. If you want to impress , somebody bring them to chicago pizza. Located in downtown petaluma and one of the historical buildings. I love it because it's kind of tricky to find. You have to go through the maze and up the stairs, and then voila there you are. But be repaired. It takes a long time to get your pizza from the time you order. They have one cook. I've been\nWaiting so long on posting this review before I even get my food. I'll check back and let you know if it's as good as I hope.
Came here a lot as a kid. Now that I'm an adult with a service dog I was overjoyed to find out my fav childhood spot was well versed in ADA law they new what questions to ask me and were very respectful. Not only is the food amazing but as a disabled woman with a service dog I felt very safe here
Old Chicago is an institution in Petaluma. Theres a reason it’s been at the same location since 1978. What’s not to love about excellent pizza at a great location (former house of…shall we say ill repute). Seriously though, if you’re swinging through Petaluma and craving pizza, THIS IS the place. And that’s saying something since Petaluma is full of excellent food options (pizza too). I’ve had deep dish pizza IN Chicago, and they don’t hold a candle to Old Chicago. Ok, I’m a biased Petaluma native, but still. Show up early evening or you might be waiting. Expect to wait a few before the pizza arrives. I think reservations are only for 6+ people, and you definitely want to make said reservations for a large group. One last thing….you WILL leave full.
I've been here one time before about 10 years ago when I was in high school and it's still just as good, if not better now that I eat a bigger variety of things! Our server was incredible! Very attentive and we were a decent sized party ( 8 adults and 2 kids) and we didnt have a single issue! She cut the first slices for all 3 pizzas we got and made it look so easy... when I tried to do it... sessshhhhh. Haha not as easy as it looks! Anyways, the garlic pesto bread was to die for! I would go back for that alone! I dont usually have it because I dont have a gallbladder and having anything that heavy would take me out but I had 0 issues which is unheard of! So I'm thankful for that! The salad was awesome and they gave us so much ranch! I will be telling everyone e and anyone I know to give this a place a try if they haven't! It's tucked away in downtown petaluma by the Mystic theater and parking is my only complaint but honestly after eating all that food the walk did me some good haha. Will deffinitly be returning and bragging to others so this place can continue to turn out incredible deep dish , delicious , works of art pizza!
Came here to give it a try since we were craving pizza and have roots in Chicago. It has a really cool atmosphere and definitely gave me Chicago vibes. There are a lot of options on the menu for pizza and we chose the deep dish pizza with sausage, pepperoni and fresh tomatoes. It was delicious. We really enjoyed it. We tried the strawberry and original cheesecake for dessert. It was a little different for our liking but we still tried it anyways. The cookies are also very good and they are served warm with whipped cream. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. Being that we have kids, we were worried we would interrupt people's dinner but it's pretty open and was noisy so it made it easy for us not to have to stress about our kids being somewhat loud.
Old Chicago Pizza. My father’s favorite pizza place! We first went here in 1979, a few years after we moved to Petaluma. The style, comfort and food have never changed! Easily to me the best pizza in Sonoma County! The deep-dish Chicago style pizza is…to…DIE FOR! It cannot be beat in my humble opinion. Great memories with my family here as well.
This place did not disappoint! To start, you’re sure to be greeted by their friendly and attentive staff that go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. I’m a huge fan of deep dish pizzas and Old Chicago Pizza makes them with all the quality ingredients you’d want to go in your pizza! I went with a medium pepperoni and sausage pizza and it was very filling! I can’t wait to come back and have their deep dish pizza again!
We were looking for a special place to celebrate our 3rd-month anniversary and were thrilled to discover this iconic landmark in Petaluma. Climbing the steps felt like stepping back in time, with charming red brick walls, chandeliers, and intriguing hallways (there’s even a rumor that the building once housed a brothel!). The food was absolutely divine, especially the small deep-dish pizza with sausage and mushrooms and the Caesar salad. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, checking in on us throughout our meal. I can't wait to return for another round of pizza!
Amazing service and food. The pizza is delicious!!! This is the only correct place for pizza while you are in the area. Believe it or not, a SMALL deep-dish pizza is enough for 2 people, especially if you do not want leftovers. The building is incredible, I felt in an old movie. I did not see an elevator and it is on the second floor, so not sure if it is accessible for a person with a physical disability. It was easy to find parking around.
Still fairly good, but feels like the amount of bread to toppings has changed since I went a few years ago. The pizza I got tasted more like yeast than I remember it being before. Not sure if this was an isolated incident or not.
Old Chicago Pizza Restaurant – 4.5 Stars We had a great experience overall at Old Chicago Pizza. The wait was a bit long, but once we were seated, things moved smoothly from there. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food definitely made up for the delay. We ordered the thin crust, which was tasty and well-cooked, though in hindsight I wish I had followed my gut and gone for the thick crust—it looked amazing at other tables. The toppings were generous, piled on with no skimping, and the flavor had a nice tangy kick that set it apart from your average pizza joint. All in all, Old Chicago delivers a solid, satisfying meal in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit—just come hungry and maybe a little patient!
We came to Petaluma for the day and did some shopping and it was my first time trying the infamous deep dish pizza of Old Chicago, and it lived up to it's hype. Very tasty and generously prepared, served very well and our waitress was a really friendly and chatty lady who made our lunch very enjoyable. The Ambience of the Restaruant space is typical but the view of the town and people bustling below on the streets made it pretty fun to watch as we enjoyed our meal. Definitely would visit again for the pizza and the service.
Old Chicago Pizza located in the heart of historic downtown Petaluma is a family-friendly pizza shop. Famous for their different choices of crust and deep dish pizzas, this building is located on the second story of Lanmart Building. They also have a second location in Petaluma which is their take out and delivery service. This is in the Wilco Shopping Center. I compliment how fast they answer their phone there. As for the sit down and dine in restaurant, they have old fashioned brick and peach colored walls. They even have chandeliers! I liked their decor for sure. Ever since Covid the restaurant is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays other than their delivery service. The afternoon I had come in my guest and I were seated right next to the window. How lucky we were to be able to watch the nice view of people walking and cars going by! The waitress we had received was very nice. She had an upbeat personality and had taken care of us very well. I hope all your employees are like this. They first start you off with sourdough bread and butter on the side. My guest and I ordered the cheesy garlic bread as the appetizer. Then we picked our own four selection of toppings which was mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, and sausage on a deep dish pizza. I love how filling even one slice can be! My guest and I only had one slice each and saved the rest for the next couple of days. Although they are well known for their delicious deep dish crust pizza, they do have options of thin crust, double crust, and even gluten free crust that you can choose from! There seems to be vegetarian options as well as they do have garlic bread and salads and of course pizza with vegetable toppings. They also have dessert, one that’s a gluten free option. They have alcoholic beverages from options of beer to red and white wine. They do have a bar there if you’re just feeling like drinks and not the whole dine in experience. The parking lot that’s right next to the Lanmart Building used to be the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the 1800s. The parking lot itself was apart of a scene of the American movie, “American Graffiti.” This is where you can find one of the parking lots to settle in while you have your meal. There’s a second parking lot right next to this one. They are both 2 hour maximum time parking spots. Although the restaurant is on the second floor and you have to get up there through stairs there is an elevator for the wheelchair accessibility folks. To the beautiful people of Sonoma county and visitors abroad, I recommend trying this place out! With the historic building and the friendly employees you have found yourself a good pizza place!
I never like to post anything less than 5 stars. But I can't give this place four or five stars. The pizza was good, very good , but the wait was horrible. We were there an hour and fifteen minutes waiting for a small pizza. I saw other people with their heads on a swivel looking around for the waitress or the owner or anybody bringing food to their table. The owners could do a lot better for sure. I like the pizza but i'm not going to go back unless I have a lot of time on my hands and I just want to hang out and have a long conversation with my date. If I'm hungry and I want to eat within a 1/2 an hour. I will definitely go somewhere else. My date does not like to complain. But she indicated that she did not like the long long wait for the food.
Was excited to go to Old Chicago as I hadn't been in quite a long time and remembered it as a fantastic pizza restaurant. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The food was good but the prices were pretty expensive. ($35 for pizza with four slices and a soda!) I could overlook an expensive meal but the service was so terrible I have no desire to go back! The waitress was clueless. Her communication skills were non existent. She sat on her phone and we had to go to her for requests. Good employees can make or break a patrons experience. This was a broken experience!! This is clearly a failing business model. If these are the problems we can see, what are the problems we can't see?
Very poor experience. We waited over an hour for a pizza we ordered. After more than 40 minutes, we had to call the waitress, who then told us there was a problem with the computer/system and that the order never made it to the kitchen. What made it worse was her attitude. When we told her we had already been waiting over 40 minutes, she said that was not true. I am pregnant, very hungry, and had a strong craving, so the lack of empathy and professionalism was extremely disappointing. Mistakes can happen, but how this was handled was unacceptable. I would not come back.
Wow. This place went downhill. Freezing cold. My mini pizza thick crust wouldn’t fill a toddler. I had to get a sandwich when I went home. Waste of money. My friends got thin crust. They got something to eat. I have bought thick crust there for years. Freezing cold. My friends bday and they wouldn’t bring her a piece of cheesecake or celebrate. Last time went was terrible too but we had a large party and I thought they couldn’t handle it. I won’t be back.
