WOW! The people was so nice!! The food was amazing I got the oxtail! And the chef personally car out and thought me and my friend how to eat it properly!
Wow. The food was amazing, tasty and plentiful! I had the oxtails and my company had the jerk chicken and curry. All dishes were A1 and we left full and overly satisfied.
We ordered the jerked chicken. Delicious! The meat was tender and fell from the bone. We ordered one entree each and had enough to eat the next day.
I can't say enough how great this place was. The food was hot, delicious, and served quickly. We had the jerk pork and oxtail plate, with beef Patty's and they were, by far, the best I've ever had. To the owner and the staff working this past Sunday: thank you for a great experience with amazing food. Even with a large party and a small mishap you were gracious hosts in every sense. Can't wait to go again.
Discovered this place on a random Saturday night when I wanted something different. The food was amazing! I had the Oxtail and Jerk Chicken dishes and the flavor was on point. Portion sizes were large, though prices were a bit high. Service was ok, the cashier had to come ask for our names (went with a friend) and confirmed our order. She still messed up my friend’s order, however. Nothing major, they ordered curry goat but received curry chicken. Is seems most orders were for pick up opposed to dining in so it was relatively quiet while we sat enjoying our food. I would definitely go back though.
This is hands down my favorite Jamaican spot in Texas — I hit it up at least twice every time I’m in Austin. I ordered the oxtails with rice and peas, had them drizzle some jerk sauce on top, and got a side of sweet plantains. The flavor is on point every single time — rich, tender, and full of that real island vibe. Yeah, the oxtails are a bit pricey for the portion, but honestly, they’re so good it’s worth every bite. Always hits the spot and keeps me coming back!
Hands down the most tender meat with all the robust Jamaican flavors. Great atmosphere friendly staff. The jerk sauce is super spicy 🌶️🌶️ 🌶️. The curry goat was moist and delicious. Fried plantains are always a bonus. You can get vegetarian or pescatarian options. Meet me there next weekend, we’re trying something new friends.
As soon as me and my big brother walked in we heard the music playing and felt the cool vibes right away. Very clean and cool atmosphere with very nice people working there. I had the jerk shrimp with the veggies that was Devine. The plantain was so sweet and soft like honey. My brother had the oxtail that just melted in your mouth with every bite. I also tried one of the juices, it was S. Ginger juice (i cant remember the name) Thank you Lord for this awesome place that is like walking into authentic Jamaican restaurant . We will be back and with more people to try it out 💚🙏🖤😎
No long line, restaurant atmosphere is cozy and cool👌🏾 Service was smooth and efficient. Plenty of parking 👍🏽 Plenty portions of food. I ordered the Brown Stew Chicken😋the sides were excellent !Rice n' Beans, fried plantains, cabbage...Delicious! A must for Sunday dinner, a place to treat out of town guests. Happy Spring Break!
Im new to the area so I want to try different places to eat. I saw this place upon leaving planet fitness. The place was spacious and the greeter was cool. He was alright. I ordered the ox tails with rice, mixed veggies and plantains. When thinking about the plantains I immediately tried to figure out what I could substitute for the plantains. Im not really a fan but I didnt want to nit pick so I didnt say anything. I took a seat and before I knew it my meal was ready in no time. I have to say those were the best ox tails Ive ever tasted. Wow. Perfect. And they werent in any gravy or a bunch of grease like others places. These were just beautiful looking individual pieces of ox tail. There were so soft and juicy. Great job. The food was so good I even ate the plantain. 😂Amazing. I will be back to try other things.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! My friend and I went in and seated ourselves. The service was very friendly. There were other families near us, and seemed to really enjoy their meal. We ordered Jamaican jerk chicken wings, Oxtail curry and Goat curry. And ahh the food was so good! The jerk chicken was really juicy with this amazing rub/sauce on it. The curries came with plantains (love it) and cabbage on the side. I’m glad we got both curries because they had such different flavor profile. I recommend this place to anyone wanting to try something new.
Excellent service. Excellent Real Jamaican food! 2024 update- seems like there is a new chef or cook. The beef patties are different, the cakes are smaller (well inflation is real) and the curry is NOT the same! Not as seasoned and has a lot more oil or sauce than before.
I’m a simple gyal and I’ve worked in the restaurant field so I can tell that the oxtails and fried plantains were not freshly made or sat there all day. They were dried out and was reheated (look at the pic) but overall D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!! The flavors are there. As far as customer service, It would be nice to be greeted upon walking in as the two ladies sat there and watch you enter the restaurant and walk towards the counter.
It's legit, and that's one of the best compliments that I can give any Caribbean spots here in Texas. With that being said, it is one of the top ones that I have found in my Texas travels. Portions were nice, and the flavor was popping. Only with they had a full dessert menu when I stopped by
I was disappointed i ordered the chicken Curry. The rice was very mushy. And it was very very bland. Maybe their other dishes fare better but unfortunately my experience was horrid. I had to throw it out & ended up making it myself. Good luck to y'all.
Food was hot, fresh, but lacking the flavor that would justify the price, this is a large. The oxtail lacked flavor and tenderness, the Mac and cheese was a $5 bowl of hot noodles, no flavor whatsoever. The beef patty was good. Overall It was not nasty, this meal had me thinking I had COVID because I just couldn’t taste flavor, but I won’t be buying this particular meal from here again.
-= REAL JAMAICAN REVIEW =- I hate to leave a negative review on a local business run by my people so I'll start with the good. The staff were pretty kind and the restaurant was clean and looked good. I ordered the oxtail ($28) and I must say this was the worst plate of oxtail ive ever had :( The portion was honestly not bad, won't make you say "wow!" But you won't feel scammed. The oxtail was extremely RUBBERY AND TOUGH. so disappointing the main joy of oxtail is the fat rendering in your mouth. Not only that but the flavor was really not great the rice and peas were nice, the plantain was nice, the cabbage was nice the oxtail tasted like it was reheated leftovers really sad.
So I ordered a jerk chicken lunch with coco bread. I asked for extra jerk sauce because their chicken and rice is dry as of late. The lady at the front was on a personal call and not attentive. I get gone and have dry chicken and dry rice with no extra sauce and only 1 piece of plantain 😒 I should've checked before I left. I won't be back for a while. This place has gone down. Tony's thanks for the clarification and I will take the remake. Unfortunately I did not finish the meal today because of the dryness. Everything but the cabbage tasted old, like it was rewarmed. UPDATE: It clearly says that my order can be remade. The same young lady that took my order last week would take honor the remake. She didn't want to call the owner, I had to ask. I was close by and this couldn't taken a sec to close out. Haven't heard back. I wont go back. I love to support black businesses but it's always the customer service that kills us.
After completing my email and phone number in order to place the order NO ONE ever called or emailed that they didn't have shrimp. No where on their website stated no shrimp and we get there to pick up the order and they have no way of refunding my money. For me to go back to their website and cancel the order...there is no where on their website to do ANYthing but order your food. horrible service at the location too
We've been eating g at Tony's for years. It had been a year since we went here. We both ordered a LARGE Oxtail plate and there was one big oxtail and 3little oxtail. There was alottttt of rice and very little cabbage. $60 for 2 meals and didn't get what we felt was worth the price. Hopefully this changes. I will be looking for a new place to go to. May try back to see if there's any change. But I will check my food from now on. I've never had to check our food before.
My boyfriend & I purchased 2 jerk chicken plates. The chicken was hard & dry. No tenderness whatsoever. The rice was mushy . The only thing that tasted good, was the plantains. Their customer service is horrible. The lady that answers the phone can barely understand you. They don’t greet you when you come inside. I won’t be eating there again.
