Cauliflower rice with cilantro sauce is amazing

The original chicken bowl is a perfect size if your worried about portion size. The chicken is nothing but great (taste). Love this place and the price is spot on. Make sure to collect points using the app, 1 point for every dollar spent.

Food was great , service was friendly, and the environment was very clean.

Restrooms are to the right hand side when you enter. The service was fast and the cashier was very helpful with my order. The prices were pretty reasonable and the food was delicious! The atmosphere in the restaurant on a Monday afternoon was nice. Not that many people dining in. It was very clean and organized. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Drive through visit, cashier was nice. First time here. Looking for a salad while the family gets BK next door. Ordered a chicken salad, forgot the name. I saw they had chips with guacamole and churros on the menu so I had to try those out. They also gave me a few different salsa condiments, I didn’t ask for them. I did forget to ask about a dressing, or maybe one of those green condiments was the dressing. Either way, the salad was spectacular. I didn’t even need the dressing. There were a few white iceberg pieces but I just picked them out. The chips and guacamole were delicious. And the churros, like they were made in the bakery, really good. Overall I was impressed as I wasn’t expecting to like the food that much. I’ve lived here since they’ve opened and never thought to try. I will definitely be going back. There were other interesting items but it was just me eating there. Can’t wait to go back and check out something else.

Overall chicken is obviously the best you can get ... burritos if the they would use less rice n more chicken with be better.. but it's all business what can you do... stick with the pollo asado.. about the size the tortillas awful 😖... beans de lata... no sides is better. Cook at home. Good luck with that.

Since COVID I do mostly drive thru or delivery. 4 stars because I’ve never been inside an actual pollo loco, BUT, I can’t get enough! If they get one in Mercedes I’m screwed. By far best drive thru food. Something about mixing the beans, rice and Cilantro sauce that I love.

Really good food! Inside or at the drive through the order always comes out correct and comes out quite quickly. Facility is cleaned very often, so you feel safe eating inside and know the food is also.

I was craving some chicken, so I headed out to my favorite local restaurant, El Pollo Loco. For me, it convenient, it giving business to our local community restaurant, and it a great working environment. The taste of the chicken was amazing. I asked for the favorite 2 piece leg and thigh with beans and rice. Just take a look at the picture and see for yourself. The saying that a picture is worth a thousand words holds true in this case. Best of all I love the guy grilling the chicken. Boy! That man can grill. He is always in a good mood and is wiseling his way to cooking some Amazing chicken. Love this place. The people are awsome. Horrible location to get in and out of... The food is great. They have a kiosk, and I hate those impersonal machines instead of people. I could see the chicken on the grill. It looked great! Got home. Despite the 24-hour marinating process, the chicken was incredibly dry. Charro beans and rice were great. They use a new "no touch" soda dispenser (put finger between detectors to turn on). The old system (push cup against stick) was as good....

The prices went up recently but my lady lives this place.

Whether dining in or going through the drive-thru, it seems like no matter how many employees are working, service is always slow. Every time we try something else, like the nachos or shrimp street taco (teeny tiny with only 2 or 3 dried out shrimp), we're never as satisfied as we are with the double chicken tostada salad. It's our favorite go-to menu item, so I think we'll just stick with that. Sometimes they forget the salsa or sauce for it, though, so you have to be sure to ask.

The food was good after they put the double chicken on my double chicken nachos 😂. The young lady that took our order didn't know how to smile...me thinks she was wishing she wasn't at work. She placed the order correctly.

I tend to always go here because it is very close in proximity from my job, but even though I like the food, the service is something else. I get attended with a person that you can obviously tell that they don't want to be there. The "I don't care" attitude. It seems to be about 90% of the times I go and I go very often.

Taste of the food is good but it is pricey and the pieces of chicken are so little. Drinks are not included in combo price. Restrooms were clean and service was ok.

I went to the one in Jackson Rd and ordered va Chicken Bowl. The food was just okay but the Corn Tortillas not. They don't heated enough time! I usually go to the one in Nolana and is a lot better.

The food wasn’t bad but there was just too many people in that restaurant. I know it’s not their fault but the trash cans were overflowing and the tables were dirty. I think they had an influx of people that were working construction and they couldn’t keep up with the demand. I’ll try this again sometime down the road but for now they need to add more staff to the lunch crowd as the drive-through line was super long and there weren’t enough people at the registers.

Fairly decent local chain. It is quite popular, and whenever you can feed a fam of four for twenty bucks....that's good! I guess you can't expect a lot of customer service, with this volume. It was okay.

Restaurant looked newly remodeled, very nice. Staff was friendly and courteous. Unfortunately the chicken was burnt, over cooked and dry. The rice and salsa were its saving grace. I love Pollo Loco, however the food on this day was definitely not up to par.

Stopped by on a Saturday. Not too busy yet the food took a bit longer than expected to come out. The chicken was freshly cooked and the beans were a good spicy; not overwhelming. The rice was a bit undercooked. Also, the flour tortillas were barely even warm. You may wanna bypass this place.

Haven't recieved the best quality of food. Tacos are usually cold, sometimes find a bone or two in my chicken bowls....I honestly don't know why i keep going back. I think, I hope it will be better another time around but im usually disappointed.

Food was good, but I may be biased it seems like the California locations food, specifically the chicken are way better than this location. The location is great and easily accessible from the main roads. I had the the taco salad and it was quite filling, the sauce bar needed more attention it was a bit messy. I would come again because I have nothing similar to this restaurant back home, but probably not this location.

No breasts, hour wait for them at 12 noon. Legs and thighs super small and were over cooked. Chicken was stuck to skin had to scrape it off. Gave it a 2 because of rice, beans and mash.

Use to pick up food from here all the time but fhe standards in this particular place have gotten so low i think a change in management would do some good.. Food has been cold the last three times... Chicken was so overcooked and the the guy at the drive thru forgot to give me my tortillas... He told me to park and wait and then he never came back out... This is the last time im going there ever

First time here, stopped by for a fundraiser, sad to say the chicken avocado taco platter was a major disappointment. The tacos were super dry, tasted like yesterday's chicken. I returned them. I requested fresh chicken for which I was served a two piece with rice and mashed potatoes. Again the chicken was not as satisfying but chose to not to return it. In-laws ordered a quesadilla which did not look like it had real cheese, not impressed at all. We did eat given it was a worthy fundraiser. It will be challenging to return to this place given they do not serve fresh food.

Food was good and came out fast BUT the employee were cleaning the over head hood with chemicals with chicken right next to them. The Manger was informed, his answer was that they are cleaning the right side hood and grill and the chicken was on the left side. Never thinking that the chemical mist can land on the chicken. I will not be eating at this Establishment for that reason.

We went there today expecting great food. we left disappointed and unimpressed. We ordered a bowl combo with chicken and a 3 taco carbon or whatever they are called. The bowl was decent. the chicken in it was moist and has some flavor. the tacos they served us had dang near raw cold corn tortillas. the chicken was not warm at all and very dry with absolutely no flavor. the soft drinks had an odd taste to them. the only upside was the meal was cheap, but we wound up throwing half of it away.

Food was delicious as always. But as far as eating there it was a mess. Wait time to place the order at the cashier was 10+ Minutes. All of the middle isle was filthy. We had to clean the table and chairs. Floors were slippery (there was caution cones). Drink fountain area was in needof desperate cleaning. This mess was not something that happened over a 15 minute time span. Management really need to adjust priorities or assign more staff for cleaning.

This was my first time at El Pollo Loco ever. Service- I downloaded the app just see what kind of food and combos were available. I decided to get everyone's (my parents, my 2 year old and I ) order at the table. I was going to order through the app, but it said it would take 30 minutes to complete. Since we were already there, I decided to order at the counter. The first thing I ordered was the Meal for 2 which included 4 pieces of chicken, 2 salads, 2 sides and 4 tortillas. This seemed to be only available in the app, so I ordered from the app since this meal option was not available at the counter. The food said it would be ready in 30 minutes, I went to my table and when the time came close, I sat down in the front to wait. The servers were messing around with each other while they were filling other orders. I watched my order sit on the counter as they would add separate items to the order. My order was at least 10 minutes late. While I sat there waiting for them to finish it. Not cooking it, just packing it. Food- So here is what we ordered.. 1) Meal for Two - Chicken was somewhat small as a portion. It tasted good. I ordered regular ranch dressing with the salads, but they put the cilantro dressing on both. The rice was good. The churros 2) Birria 2 Crunchy Taco Box - "Crunchy" tacos seemed to be deep fried and dripping in oil. Oddly enough, the cheese inside wasn't melted. Very oily and very messy. The tortillas were so "crispy" that they were falling apart when I opened the foil. The meat had a good flavor. I ordered my tacos without cilantro and onion, the consumé was chock full of onion and cilantro. The cilantro overpowered the taste of the consumé. I didn't eat the Mac and Cheese, the Loco Salad was good. 3) Shredded Chicken Nachos - Chicken was oddly cold...on nachos. Chicken has a nice flavor but again...it was cold. 4) 2 PC Chicken Leg Kids Meal - Everything was fine with the kids meal. 5) 2 Medium Drinks - All the drinks Not sure if it's the water or the syrup was going out but all the drinks tasted funny. Overall- Not impressed with the service or food. The chicken was good, but small. I am willing try the one back in Colorado when we get home.

This is the second time they forget my order. I waited 15 minutes, people that got there after me got their orders before me. I had to remind them about my order. Then they forgot to give me my chips, I asked twice but they never gave me my chips. They just said they were going to bring them but never did. The place was empty only 4 tables with customers.

I love pollo loco but the one by my house is horrible. I’ve never had a good experience. My order is always wrong or missing items. They need to invest in their management and customer service.

Totally disappointed in the 8 piece mixed family meal. There’s no way you can feed a family of 4 with such tiny pieces of chicken. We paid extra for the mixed meal not knowing wings counted as pieces. When my husband called to complain, the manager claimed that chicken shrinks when fried…but this is grilled! She also hung up on him. First & last time we buy Pollo Loco. 👎🏼

Food is good, Manager Rosie isn’t (as she gave me, if that is even her real name). She is the manager on duty tonight, June 15, 2021. Our order#951, registered at 8:58pm, 400 N jackson rd, Bldg B, pharr Tx. We love pollo loco and have always been eating in Nolana, Mc Allen and University, Edinburg branch and all has been good until tonight. Will never go back to this branch again and i agree with other reviews, customer service isn’t good here. So we ordered a 12pc chicken meal and as always, we use heaps and loads of the salsa. First they gave us 10 small containers with about a teaspoonful of salsa. So we asked our daughter to go ask for 10more because i consume about 2 containers of the salsa with 1pc. My daughter came back with 10small containers saying that Crew Micheal said they were supposed to charge for it but gave it free anyway. So i went to the counter and confirmed if that is their rule because as far as i remember we were never charged for any extra salsa we ask from the other branches. Michael then told me to speak to the manager who was just beside him. So i went ahead and just when you thought you can count on the manager, you are so wrong if you are in this branch. I asked if that is their rule that they charge for extra salsa. The tone of her voice on her very first words weren’t nice at once. She didn’t say yes, but she started saying their meal packages and what salsa/sauce goes with it and how many, in an offensive and somewhat angry tone. So i just said again “so this is your rule? ” and i said, “and what is your name?” She proudly said “I’m Rosie”. So i said, “oh Rosie, and you are Michael, right?” And then i turned back and started walking toward our table. The manager just made the matter worse by yelling at me as i walked away saying “you might want to include restaurant number 3782, etc, etc” she has been yelling alot of things which i didn’t understand anymore because i went ahead and joined my family with the dinner. I didn’t want to go down her level as it was obvious what she did was unethical and very unprofessional. Crew Michael later on came to our table apologizing for what happened and that it was their manager’s rule. But we didn’t feel good of what has been done. so we didn’t say anything and just continued with our dinner (again, we aren’t going down their level) As we walked out, i looked at the manager by the counter as we exited by the door close to it. She didn’t say anything as if she saw nothing. Never again will we be back in this Pollo Loco branch. And i agree with the other review, customer service is very poor in this branch, at least basing from our experience with manager Rosie.

Thee worst ever and will never return here again food was cold disgusting ask for extra cheese on nachos got charged for no extra cheese the plate was not appealing it looked like vomit all thrown in a pile 😫 I don't recommend this place no wonder it was empty. I would expect great food presentation and hot chicken from the grill we got the opposite.

Ordered two double chicken tostadas and once i got home surprise one of the tostadas had no chicken at all just beans rice and lettuce there was no avocado or sour cream on the second it had no rice just beans an was missing avocado as well. What a bad service. Not going back...

This el polo loco was crazy. The employees look so sloppy and working sloppy. The restaurant was very dirty. There was tea spild on the drink counter and on the floor. My family and were in the restaurant for about an hour and watched costumers and EMPLOYEES walk through the mess. Know one attempts to clean it. The worst was the manager sitting and on her phone right in front of the mess. 😔 terrible . never had this kind of experience at any other locations.

Went through the drive thru and the attendant did not take the order right. She was rude then when the order did come out they put someone elses food with ours. She came to tell us that she made the mistake but didnt get a new order for the other people she just took out the mistake and put it in thier bag of food no gloves no nothing the bad part about this is that I saw her scracthing her head earlier when she was collecting our money. 1st time, went thru the drive thru only one car in front noticed the restaurant in the inside had very few people. Ordered 1 order of chicken taquitos and 1 bean, rice & cheese burrito. Took 14 minutes to receive order. Taquitos were way over cooked. Burrito tortilla was burn in the inside. Beans taste like can beans. Rice had a few undercooked was hard. Sorry won't go back.

Waited forever for my food, and they forgot my dressing and no utensils or napkins. Not enough portion of chicken. Other than that it was a great place to eat. Disappointed in their customer service. I will make a further drive from now on.

The restaurant's door damaged a customer truck's tire and body in the drive-through line and the employees were aware of it and they don't notify their client even though they were giving her their to go order. What kind of people do that? Their client could had an accident due to their negligence with a damaged tire without their knowing about it!! She also had a baby on the back seat. Shameful!!!

Very dry and extremely small pieces of chicken and sides were not that good. A little wait time to reveive order. However attendant was very courteous and polite. Previous experience at another location in Florida was great. But this one was a complete turn off due to the food quality.

first time ever here. get my food everything looks great. I’m the middle of me eating my Mac n cheese I see two small hairs on the max n cheese container. I’m like okay, it was an accident. I send my husband back to tell the employee. they replace the Mac n cheese but he never said sorry so we open our second serving of Mac and cheese and there’s another hair again. It was disgusting. & then again I sent my husband. And all they did was replace it once again with no apology It was my first time here, and it will be my last.

Bad customer service , i arrived before 9 . Staff was in a bad mood they would not let people use restroom. They wanted to clean and kick people out already. There was a couple sitting on the left side they told then to get out of that section. They were saying stuff like why are this people ordering so much. They dont seem happy to be there so they should leave. The worst was the cashier named melody . The chips seemd old and the chicken dry probably cause the chicken was just sitting on the grill. Worst drive thru experience ever!!!! Very rude cashier. I ordered 5 combos and was not given a cup holder. When I asked for one the guy said they were out when I asked oh really he than said “oh look the last one” and handed me the cup holder. I was asked to drive ahead when there was no one on back of me. I asked for some salsa. When he came out with my order he only put 2 salsas!!! Like hello I ordered 5 freaking combos! Got home and one of my orders was missing the chicken!!! These place lacks customer service!

The entire restaurant was filthy. Tables, floors, drink stand. And the manager was sitting on the sofa in order area, talking to a cashier. I was charged $1.89 for a. 79 bag of chips. I believe it's the last time I'll visit here. Since I was over charged she was having difficulty with the refund, so she asked if I would settle for some guacamole, I said no. Barely an apology for anything, and she didn't want to give me a refund. NRJ.

The chicken was insipid and the price was way too much for the quality of the food. They did not even have tea made and the restaurant was with very few patrons.

I love the food but the employees at the drive thru need an attitude adjustment. They forget to put the salsas with the orders and when you tell them, they give you attitude and act like they're doing you a favor! They're famous line, " Check the bag sir.", is something I've heard way too many times! Then you prove them wrong and still give you attitude. You all should invest in some customer service training. Or at least tell them to check the bag before giving the customers their orders! If they're having a bad day or if they're short handed, is not my problem. I go there, I pay for my order, and I expected to come complete! I'm doing you the favor by continuing to go there. I strongly suggest you fix this...

Chicken was extremely burnt, dry and hard. Ordered large sides and only filled halfway. Called to complain employee was extremely rude when I mentioned how the chicken was she said it was freshly made less than an hour ago, but when I walked in cooked chicken was on grill already real burnt. Restrooms extremely dirty as well.

The food is good, but they can't get the order right. I go there because we like the food but every 7 out of the last 8 times I have gone there, they forget something. This time it was the side salad. Other times it's been the other sides. They need it up different every time. Today we didn't get any side salads (2) or the chips and question I ordered and paid for.
