Food was very good. We waited a bit long for food but it was worth it. The service was very nice. Very nice people. Our waiter was nice too and very attentive, same goes for the owner. We enjoyed our dinner and will be back. They have private room in the back for events.
Go to this place! Super sweet and professional services staff. They welcome you so graciously and make your visit very nice.
We drove from Houston TX to try this place. It was worth the trip and then some. From the moment that we walked in, our waiter was our host and guided us to our choice of seating. The complementary Corn chips were freshly made served with complementary Black Beans that were very flavorful. As an appetizer we requested a Guacamole and it was enough for 2 ppl served with diced cilantro, diced onions, diced tomatoes NOT to be confused with pico de gallo. Our Waiter Fernando suggested we try the Rib-Eye con costra. We ordered the Rib-Eye con Costra and it was served with grilled onions, a grilled dressed potato with an In House Sour Cream with herbs accompanied by some grilled onions in natural gravy all on a skillet. We also ordered a House Specialty the Pierna de Cabrito (Goat Thigh) that was grilled to perfection in the Traditional Tamaulipas flavor style. It was served with Yellow Mexican Rice some grilled onions in natural gravy on the skillet and a side of Charro Beans. We will be sure to set reservations for a Birthday celebration and family gathering next time. Thank for to our waiter Fernando for your attentiveness, suggestions and promptness with our orders. We will be back. Overall 10 Stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I just wanted to share my experience at El Pastor Grill. I was craving Cabrito, and lo n behold, El Pastor had several goat options. The staff, along with the manager were so gracious and nice. We had several plates and all of them were impressive in taste and presentation. The enchiladas were on point, as well as the medium rare steak that we ordered. The ambience was amazing and the restaurant cleanliness was not unnoticed. Beautiful intricate details included a beautiful polished piano, along with the lighting that emphasized the bar and christmas tree. I was serenated for my birthday and was given a beautiful flan and coffee mug. I will never forget this birthday experience and will be telling all my friends about this hidden gem located right on 10th street ♥️
And old cabrito restuaurant in a new location, with a long history of great food and service. I remember the first El Pastor from downtown Reynosa, where you would see Mexican movie stars, singers, politicians and a lot of them from the American side too. I recomend their Fritada, a delicious dish, the best I've ever tasted, and delicious Guayaba cheese pie..yummy. Guayaba is called Guava here in the states. Try everything, I am sure you would love to taste authentic Mexican Dishes.
My first time at el pastor grill, went for the breakfast special $7.99 coffee included and I was pleasantly surprised about the food, so tasty and generous portion, coffee was also excellent. My brothers who didn't want to go there, loved his huevos divorciados. For sure we'll go back.
I ordered from El Pastor Grill last night for the first time for delivery and I was impressed with the service, quality and quantity of food I received. I ordered the Enchiladas Americanas and Champinones al Ajillo. I received a call from the manager and was told that the chef misread the Champinones al Ajillo for Camarones al Ajillo and that they did not have the Champinones al Ajillo (Fresh mushrooms slices sauté in wine and guajillo-garlic sauce) and asked if they could send the Camarones al Ajillo (Shrimp sauté in our scampi sauce) for the same price of the mushrooms and I said that would be fine. I have to say that the enchiladas were the best I have ever eaten at any of the restaurants here in McAllen. The manager apologized profusely and told me thank you. Kudos to the manager!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!
FANTASTIC. We had just attended the convention center Halloween event and were hungry. I had a hankering to try some Cabrito, I call the El Pastor Grill which was super close to closing, but they told me if we were heading that way they would have a table for us. BEST DECISION EVER, the owner was so kind to describe the meals and as we had never been we took his recommendations and ran with it. The place is beautiful and the service was incredible, we didn’t feel rushed at all and had a beautiful meal that will be a memorable moment for years to come. Highly recommend. PS the flan and choco-flan were amazing, even the next day as we took it to go as we were stuffed.
Although I didn't care for the chilaquiles, the 2 breakfast tacos i ordered were very delicious. The place was very nice and fancy looking. I didn't care for the attitude the older male waiter had. I was letting him know that the Diet Coke flavor was not even close to tasting like Diet Coke and replied sarcastically with, what do you want me to do, that's what we have, type of answer. So I was wound up paying $3.50 for a canned of Coke Zero. Same with the ordering of the tacos. Mind you, I didn't eat my 1st choice, then in a frustrated way he says in Spanish, that if it was to go or to eat there. Went there because of a TikTok ad. Well my 1st time there was not too enjoyable with attitudes like that. 1st impressions can only be made once.
The place is old and needs some maintenance. The food is ok but if you expect same quality and taste than a cabrito restaurant in Monterrey that is not going to happen. Very high prices for what you get. The waiter was very nice.
The place looks beautiful inside and the servers are very attentive, the huevos rancheros were good but their quality decreased from previous visits, for $7.95 you get 2 eggs, refried beans, potatoes, ham & fried tortilla. The eggs were overcooked, the salsa for the eggs was okay, the fried tortilla under the eggs was mediocre, the ham was simple but tasty, the refried beans were okay and the potatoes I liked that they made them a la mexicana but flavorless. They serve you chips and salsa while you wait, the salsa is really good. Overall the breakfast was okay but the quality of the food has decreased no more yellow corn tortillas, different quality ham. The place still looks great & the servers are still amazing. I hope management sees this observation.
My wife and I were invited to eat at El Pastor Grill for an early lunch. The place is in the building that used to be the Oyster bar, located at 600 N. 10th St, McAllen TX right at Fir Ave. Once seated we ordered iced teas, the server brought our teas along with chips and salsa. I ordered the CaldoTialpeno, (soup) and my wife and friend ordered the Enchiladas Suizas. Our server really took good care of us, totally on point. I wish I could rave about the food but it really was a let down. My soup was way too salty, broth was definitely made from bouillon and not stock. There was not the traditional Chipotle in the broth, but rather a Chipotle Chile served on the side. I mentioned the saltiness to the server and he returned with a new bowl, unfortunately it was just as salty as the first bowl. I removed the chicken, rice, and Avocado from the bowl and settled for eating this. My wife hardly touched her enchiladas, I asked her why? She said they were way to dry and had no flavor. Sadly my friend ate less than half his plate, his comment I won't write, but they both agreed that the rice was undercooked. It's to bad the food doesn't meet the expectation you get when you walk in to the restaurant. The decor is nice and creates a pleasant ambience. I might go back and try the grilled items, but based on the food quality of this visit, it's probably going to be until I hear something good about the place.
Worse service ever food was very disappointing. No cabrito, plastic in food, fideo with horrible smell. We asked for the manager and that theres no one, not even the owner. We were celebrating my aunts Bday 18 persons and all the plates were disappointing.
The food here was absolutely awful—cold, bland, and completely lacking flavor. It took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, it wasn’t worth the wait at all. Our bill came out to $241, which I don’t mind paying for great food, but this was a total disappointment for the price. The only positive was our waiter, who was really good and attentive, but even great service can’t make up for terrible food. I do not recommend this place whatsoever—stay away if you can.
Food is okay with the lunch special deal. The waiter name is Fernando. He is so rude to us. I put my hand up to call him. he saw and ignored me. It was hard to call him over until I needed to ask another nice lady to help. He even put chip bowl on top the empty bowl instead of taking it back. I was so mad. I recommend the restaurant to do something with this issue because I’m not planing to go back to this place because of the waiter.
The first time we visited this restaurant, it was edible. We decided to give them a second chance only to experience bad service and my plate was not good at all.. The Bisteck Ranchero plate was terrible, the flour tortillas appeared to be store bought and tough, the male server had to be asked repeatedly to bring us what ever we needed. He was very rude when we one person from our party left him a tip and told her to keep it, probably thinking that that was all he was getting. What he failed to realize is that every member of our party was tipping him as well.. We always tip our servers very well and his refusal to accept that particular indivividual tip was very insulting. We will think twice before returning.
I'm big on quality food, and when I go to a new place that I haven't been to, I look around to see if there are customers during the busiest time of the day (12pm-1pm). There were only two other people, which should have been my sign. I ordered the cabrito rionada and what I got was a very dry piece of cabrito it might of well been a cabrito jerky and even at that it wasn't edible. I couldn't bite into it. I did return lt and they told me I still had to pay for it. I didn't argue I just paid it and went on my. If you try this place stay away from the cabrito. I was going to post a picture of it but I will leave it at that.
