This precious student run dining features specials developed solely by them as well as other favorites. Keep this in mind as aside from your host (also their professor) 100% of the staff are students. Think of it like Culinary Institute but in University City I started with a glass of wine and a salad based on arugula with a spring pea purée. I followed that with a lamb dish that had probably the best roasted carrot I ever tasted, perfectly cooked lamb and a parsnip purée that had deep umami. I splurged on a side of the mushroom fricassee which had a great variety of mushrooms in a light cream sauce. I wish I had room for the in house desserts but I may have accidentally eaten one of the baked breads with sea salt encrusted butter which filled me up! A few things - the students are also servers so they are learning different parts (front bs back of the house). So I had to ask for a wine list and a little more detail than she was able to provide in some entrees. Also the plating is a place they could improve so keep that in mind - the food tastes great even if it’s not decked out in microgreens etc. The atmosphere in the back is like a French bistro and the bar area is a throwback charmer. Perfect for friends or a date night. Any tips go back to the program enjoy!
Bistro Perrier is a restaurant that puts in a effort to make itself authentically French. The service while a little bit nervous was good. The food quality was above average. The taste of the food was what you expect from a French restaurant, which isn’t that easy for it being in Philadelphia. The extras that you get with your meal is also a nice touch. The food however could use(like the rabbit)a bit more seasoning, and better Execution.
Loved this place. Got their Valentine’s Day menu (the day after). Had a smoked salmon dish, parsnip soup, steak dish, halibut. They even made my daughter a fettuccine Alfredo dish, how nice of them! The dessert where a chocolate pot de creme and a mocha tart (not my favorite but I really don’t care for coffee, so that’s on me). We where do pleases with the dinner it’s hard to believe that students are in the kitchen cooking it. I think it speaks volumes about the teachers instructing them. Good job all around.
A real amazing restaurant. Everyone was ready to help us, always kind and happy. The manager, sorry I don't remember his name, is fantastic! He came to the parking lot to show us where was a handicapp space. He took the wheelchair out of the trunk and pushed me all the way inside. (Made my husband happy too! ;) They helped us choose a wine, and advise on the menu, because of allergies. It was my birthday so they made a vegan dessert for me. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. You can splurge with a meal, wine, dessert and all; Top of the line menu and help, without the pocket suffering much. Thank you so much!!
all dishes and services were great. We liked the bread. I liked PAN ROASTED SKATE. Will come back.
It's not dinner it's a complete experience.
Beautiful warm and welcoming. Love the staff
Great location, good food and great service!
I had the opportunity to eat at the Bistro Perrier on a few occasions. Booking a reservation online is quick and easy. Upon arriving I was greeted by a host who took us to our seats. I have been able to sit in different parts of the bistro to enjoy different scenery. We ordered Raclette Potatoes, Mussels (which has been a favorite), Pan Roasted Salmon and Steak Frites. We also had a variety of desserts. The students are really able to showcase their skills whether greeting, managing tables, taking orders and the students making the food.
romantic courtyard and very pleasant service by the restaurant-school students! nice but casual fine dining atmosphere. you will like the food if you are into the very classic french cuisine. the pino noir was fantastic! liked it a lot
Bistro Perrier is one of the hidden jewels in Philadelphia. This is truly one of the most beautiful restaurants. The main dining room gives you the feeling that you are in a quaint Parisian town. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, only enhancing your dining experience. The food would rival the best chef’s in France. The only disappointment is that I can not give more than 5 stars. This is a must go to.
Free off-street parking with guard, top-notch service from start to finish, excellent food in a very unique setting, all for a great price. The interior is decorated to look like an outdoor, European plaza, complete with building facades, store fronts, a fountain with flowers and trees. Very unique experience.
I always have a fun time and a good meal in a beautiful setting. The menu changes frequently and has local and innovative choices.
Amazing place especially for a date. Their seating is a faux Parisian alley decor. Its spacious and the staff are nice! Food was great for the price.
Excellent, foods were delicious, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I am looking forward to a return visit.
AMAZING atmosphere, wait service, food and drink! I will DEFINITELY be back for date night! 10/10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great place close to Penn. Good food and Service, March 2017.

So good.
Delicious food. Have to try …
A gem in W. Philly!
Bistro Perrier is a testament to the artistry and dedication of aspiring chefs at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. I had the pleasure of indulging in their Steak Frites, a beautifully prepared ribeye that was nothing short of exceptional. Cooked to perfection, the steak was tender, rich in flavor, and complemented by expertly crisped fries—a classic executed with finesse. Every bite reflected the precision and commitment of the talented culinary students and their mentors. Beyond the dish itself, what truly sets Bistro Perrier apart is the unwavering attention to detail and refinement in both service and presentation. The experience is a delightful blend of sophistication and approachability, making it a must-visit for anyone in University City seeking a memorable dining experience. For those who appreciate high-quality cuisine with a touch of French-inspired excellence, Bistro Perrier is an undeniable gem. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, I highly recommend making this restaurant a priority—it’s a culinary journey well worth taking.
Amazing dinner last night! Delicious bottle of wine and the greatest beef rib I ever ate. Waitress was adorable and professional, it felt great to be part of instruction. I’ve been to Paris, but not this restaurant - what an absolute gem of a place. And FREE PARKING! 💕
A very unique dining experience, run by students and staff of the restaurant school. The dining area is designed to feel like a street in Paris and the cuisine follows suit. While the wait staff seems to be predominantly students still learning the finer points of the hospitality world, they are very accommodating and friendly. A great choice for a fine dining experience in University City.
What a lovely place to go for lunch, dinner or special occasion with a wonderful patisserie and coffee shop. After parking in their patrolled parking lot you hushed away to a quiet bistro where students are eager to take you through a culinary experience like no other in Center City Philadelphia. Make sure you place your reservations for the holidays soon, you won't regret it.
We went here for my birthday and I found everything amazing - right from the appetizers to the (to die for) desserts. I really loved the holiday decorations especially the huge gingerbread Eiffel Tower at the entrance. It's a cute place but, it's not huge so definitely make reservations before you go. You will not be disappointed. It is expensive like any fancy French restaurant but, I think it was worth it.
A slice of France amidst philly! The ambience is so nice with the decorations and everything, it reminded me of Paris. The service was great, friendly and helpful waiters and waitress. We had two appetisers of steak and snails , both of which were really good. Among the entrees, we tried the salmon and beef bourguignon. The salmon dish was very unique with lentils. The beef tasted good but was a little overcooked and chewy. The house cocktails made by the students were also really tasty as was the honey creme brulee. Thanks for the awesome hospitality and the complementary chocolate truffles. Definitely coming back again.
Very unique feeling, an artificial restaurant for me, the food was good, and I got chicken which was good.
Service was great. Their version of mad as hell cocktail was pretty good. Pork was great. Potatoes were a bit undercooked. Good place for a date.
I was at Walnut Hill College for an awards ceremony and the atmosphere, service and food was superb!!
Would recommend dinner menu over lunch menu. The quality control at lunch was absent. Flavors were all over the board - it seemed no one was overseeing quality for lunch hours. The pastry shop was ho hum as well. Tried the staple of French pastry, croissant, and was not impressed.
While the service was very pleasant, the restaurant was quite empty on a Thursday evening. I do realise this is a cooking school and I come from the industry myself, the wine was great, the interior was gaudy und unusual (though not in a bad way), but the food (almost all dishes) plainly under seasoned and some of the dishes just weren’t prepared correctly. The lobster risotto could’ve been any other white fish other than lobster and had a gritty texture, the snails weren’t in their shells but swimming in a cream of mushroom stew (which made us wonder if they were fresh). The only dish we really enjoyed were the Moulles frites and the sauce (that was great) Overall, this is a teaching school but for a teaching school I wouldn’t expect full prices.
The place is visually pretty cool. It's made up of different eating experiences. Unbeknownst to me at the time that I booked the reservations, it is a school. Our service was at best ok. And the food was at best ok. I was so excited about having steak frites. The website pic is beautiful. If the brick and mortar wasn't so cool and grace for it being a school, I would probably give it ⭐⭐. It's an experience tho. There is a beautiful room. It's looks like a bottle of bubbles.
Usually don’t post review about restaurant experience. In food business myself, know well about challenges. As much as I liked atmosphere and service, which was impeccable, I generally didn’t appreciate the food. Escargot and onion soup were bland, shredded duck pie lacked any kind of orange or cranberry spice. But chicken plate beat them all. Never ever in my life I had chicken quarter as main course. For $24. Chicken quarter ? Seriously ? Sautéed in red wine. Chicken quarter is poultry you can’t do much about. Doesn’t matter what you do with it. Cheap as hell. Probably that’s why I’ve never seen it on any menu before. With such great setting and great service, please, do something about the food.
2 stars because of the mussels fries soup and bread. Feel bad but food was inedible otherwise. I appreciate the students trying but the executive chef or teacher really needs to work on quality control.
Perhaps let your customer know they need a physical (photocopy not OK) copy of ID to order alcohol in advance before they arrive.
