My husband and I went to Sweet Lulas for my birthday and the food was delicious! The waitress was very pleasant and personable. The owner was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcomed! Not to mention her adorable grand baby visiting the restaurant. We will definitely be back! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Food is made fresh to order.

Came to Sweet Lula’s for a brunch bridal shower and it was so nice! I ordered a cappuccino which was perfect and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend everyone to try it out!

After celebrating a birthday at this restaurant, I can say the service was fabulous and the food was out of this world. I will definitely recommend it. Bringing our own wine and beer was an added bonus, complemented by very sweet service.

This place is super cute and great to go for a date night or just an evening to relax. The food was really good, I highly recommend the duck. You can bring your own wine or if you forget they have local wine which was not bad. The inside is very quaint with an old Italian feel mixed with movies from a time long ago on a big projection screen. Very unique decor and ambiance all around. We were there during the winter so the front was closed off, I think the summer would be even better to sit out front in downtown Pitman. Five stars for uniqueness and service by the staff!

We had an enjoyable dinner last night at Sweet Lula's. The Alaskan Salmon was delicious. My wife enjoyed the gnocchi and the duck was outstanding along with the tenderloin by our friends. We brought our wine and the staff was pleasant and attentive. Just a great dinner in Pitman. I highly recommend Sweet Lula’s.

I had the chicken Marsala, wonderful flavors! I told the chef personally. My husband had the duck with plump, tart cherries. Bread pudding was excellent . Only qualm? We were not offered dinner rolls when everyone else was.

My sister and brother-in-law from TX were in town and we ate at Sweet Lula's last night. We enjoyed the staff and enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. Our compliments to the chef! In fact, the filet was superior to Max's Seafood Cafe. Chubby's and even The Franklinville Inn!

This Restaurant is fantastic. I worked a couple of doors down when they were opening. Chef used to ask me to come in and would put dishes up to try. (Tough job but someone had to do it). Everything I've tasted or ordered has been exceptional without exception. The menu is always creative in the best possible way and food is local and fresh on a daily basis. The description "Gourmet Comfort Food" is perfectly stated. I strongly recommend Sweet Lula's. You won't be disappointed The owners are wonderful Always a personal touch.

As always the service was very pleasant, food was good and a charming space. It is BYOB However the do offer a variety virgin mocktails. Which makes it fun and enjoyable without the worry of needing a designated driver. Go and enjoy. Best of all it's right across from the Pittman Theater. So enjoy a great meal and a show. Great night out for me and my love.

I love this Place! Great food and a nice atmosphere. The owners and staff are very kind and provide good service. The crab encrusted Salmon is my favorite! Perfect for a date night or a nice night out with the family. Brunch is great too! I highly recommend!!

Just had the most wonderful dinner with friends. The server was Nicosia it was her first day she did awesome. The chef came out to greet our table, I for sure let him know our meal was delicious. They offers us Jack Daniel bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. It was the best!!!! We really enjoyed this quaint restaurant and will definitely be back. Thank you.

Ate here with my wife prior to a show at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman. Good menu choices with daily specials and the food was fantastic. The owners have an interesting show business background with the owner and cook having won an Emmy. His passion for cooking fine meals started in show business and continues in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

We held a surprise bridal brunch for one of my best friends yesterday for about 20 people. Sweet Lula's was totally accommodating to us. From giving us the entire back part of the restaurant to allowing us in early to decorate to being extremely helpful in dealing with all of us, the brunch went off without a hitch. I can't sing the praises enough for the service!!! They kept the day moving smoothly. It is a BYOB so we came with prosecco and vodka for mimosas and bloody Mary's. They provided the mixers and allowed us to use the counter area in front of the kitchen as a "bar". Everyone was saying how good each dish was. Personally, my mushroom/cheese/spinach omelette was super delish!! They offer weekend brunch, besides their regular daily menu. I am definitely returning soon to try the brunch burger, as my friend had that and mentioned it was one of the best burgers she's had. Go check them out!!!

We dined here last night and had such a lovely time! We could’ve spoken with Lula all night, she was so incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. We are already planning our next visit back! It was truly the highlight of our evening.

Sweet Lula’s has such a cute, cozy vibe — the trees and twinkling lights make it feel warm and inviting. We went before a show at the theatre, and it’s definitely a charming spot to start the evening. Service was just okay and a bit slow, even though there were only a few tables occupied. It took some time to get our food, and we also waited a while for the check and for the waitress to come back and run our credit card — something to keep in mind if you’re on a schedule before a show. It’s BYOB, which is nice, and they do offer a few mocktail options. For appetizers, we tried the bang bang shrimp and calamari. The calamari was fine, but the bang bang shrimp was not what we expected — it tasted more like sweet and sour chicken from a Chinese restaurant rather than the traditional bang bang shrimp with that creamy orange sauce and a little kick. The entrees were much better than the appetizers. The risotto was really good and definitely the highlight of the meal. Others had the crab cake and said it was good. Overall, I would go back for the entrees and the ambiance, but I’d probably skip the apps next time — and just plan for a more relaxed pace of service.

Food was very good. We both had the duck. Rolls would be better if they were warm and not actually cold inside. I was disappointed to find out after getting my credit card back that there was an Admin Fee applied. There was nothing on the menu, the bill or said by the waitress when she took my credit card that there would be an additional fee for credit cards. The Admin Fee didn't even say what % was added.

Nice cozy place in downtown pitman. Nice selection of appetizers and meals. The wedge salad was great. The dressing was smooth and the bacon crumbles were so tasty. The duck with cherry demi glace was very good, as well as the penne vodka. Service was good, but do not expect to get in and get out. Food is cooked to order in the open kitchen fresh and hot. It was especially crowded on the night we went because of an event and show at the theater down the road.

Place in the middle of Pitman's main strip, a sense of worry came over us as we enter the dimly lit, desolate restaurant. The ambiance definitely set a nice date night vibe. The menu is succinct with simple explanations. We started of with Lula's shrimp which was tenderly fried shrimp with a dipping chutney. Flavor was good and the cook was on point. However, the entrées were where that ended. I got the NY strip and my wife got the lobster ravioli. Her ravioli were tough and flavorless. They were swimming in blush sauce that had no flavor. My NY strip was cook as I asked but it had no flavor. Covering it gorgonzola you would expect that to add flavor but that was not the case.

Went here with my friend recently. Service was excellent. Food was good, but didn't blow us away. The portion of actual cheese and meats for the charcuterie board was gravely lacking. There were many flies buzzing around us as we ate which was a nuisance. We got the djoin chicken which was okay, the mashed potatoes were really good, veggies just okay. We got cheescake to go as well, but not sure if it was homemade or store-bought as it looked a bit stiff and not super fresh. My friend ate some I didn't partake. We'd probably give it another shot though. We were tended to well and it's a nice spot.

Unlike previous reviews of others, owners were pleasant as well as our server, who was more than happy to ask the owner to turn down the loud music that was over our table. I can understand slower than usual service for Mother's Day brunch. However, I expect my food to be served hot, especially when I have to wait longer for it. With the exception of fatty steak (and eggs), food was good but served lukewarm for most at our table of 8. Would like to see the Mother's Day buffet back as was in 2018.

We visited for Mother’s Day with a reservation, it was busy and at first it was understandable. However, the food took over an hour, the appetizer came out after the food, our waitress was very apologetic and said it was only her second shift and was very clearly new/forgetful, but that isn’t her fault, it’s managements fault for scheduling her on a busy holiday & expecting her to keep up. There was no silverware, sugar, or napkins on our table we had to borrow from our table next to us. The owner was rushing around the restaurant looking clearly agitated and not mindful and what/who she was bumping into, reprimanded our waitress in front of us at the host stand & when we asked her for a bag she shoo’d us away and told us to ask the waitress. It seems like the servers blame the kitchen, while the kitchen/owner blame the servers. Whoever’s fault it was, it seems like they’re going downhill and was definitely not the highlight of our holiday, rather ruined it. It’s a shame because the food was actually good, but was not enough to outweigh the poor experience.

It was so hot it was uncomfortable. We had 3 menus given to us. There was no mention of the 3 course special. We had to ask. The beet salad came without the goat cheese and with half of a tiny metal cup of dressing. The dinners were ok but very highly priced. The salads and appetizers were 17.00 each! Our server gave the wrong dinner to our friend. He then had to wait for his food while we ate ours. No cheese was offered for the pasta. They had no red pepper. At the end of the meal we asked why did we have bread dishes with no bread. She told us we had to ask for bread. Who knew? We had water in a carafe with 3 ice cubes that melted so we drank lukewarm water as we sweated. The decor was ordinary. No one lit the candle in the table. One and done!

My wife and I and another couple had a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday. We all arrived right before 6:30 and were seated immediately. The place is BYOB. Our server was friendly and engaging, but after my wife asked for a glass of ice for her can of seltzer, our server seemed to have disappeared for 15 min. When she returned with the ice, we asked her for a few recommendations on the appetizers and entrees which she happily provided, and then told us she'd give us a few minutes to decide, but then she disappeared for about 20 minutes. We ordered the fried calamari and the Bang Bang shrimp. The calamari dish was very small, hardly a sharable appetizer and was mostly crumbles as if the kitchen was running out of calamari. Both appetizers tasted ok but very unremarkable. Again, we didn't see our server for another 30 minutes when she returned to take our entree orders. She highly recommended the Braised Short Ribs and the Lamp Chop special. My buddy's wife ordered the Short Ribs but 5 min after she ordered, our server returned to tell her that the kitchen was out of the Short Ribs, so she ordered a pasta dish. My wife who wasn't thrilled with menu variety ordered a beet and goat cheese salad with chicken as an entree, and my buddy and I ordered the lamb chops. The server didn't ask us how we wanted the lamb cooked and we failed to ask, but my experience has always been that they're usually rare or medium rare, but the server will tell you that in case you want it cooked to medium or well-done. These turned out to be very well-done, and a step beyond charred-- they were almost burnt. They tasted ok, but they failed to match our server's glowing recommendations. By the way, our server never stopped by to ask us if everything came out all right and tasted good-- in fact, we didn't see her until we finished our entrees and were ready to order desserts, which was also underwhelming. She looked harried, and perhaps the restaurant was understaffed that night, and there was a show at the Broadway Theatre, although the restaurant didn't seem crowded. In any case, by the time we finished dessert and paid the check, it was nearly 10 PM. Overall, it was quite a disappointing dining experience; however, I want to believe that understaffing was the culprit and that this was an anomaly because being on the main street almost directly across from the theater with a ton of potential diners out there, the restaurant couldn't survive if this were a frequent occurrence. So, maybe we'll give Sweet Lula's another try sometime soon.

Had dinner there on September, 24th 2022. The service was fine but the food was less then spectacular. We started off with the calamari and the vegetarian meatballs. The calamari was cold but had nice flavor. The vegetarian meatballs had carrots in them that were not cooked. I wasn’t sure if it they were looking for texture in the dish, but it was off putting. I had the salmon which was an extremely small portion for the price. And the person I was with had the chicken and artichoke which, again, was tasty but the linguine was mush. The desserts were very good. We had the key lime pie and the cheesecake. When we received the bill, we where surprised that my sodas were not free refills.

We had dinner here last night. We sat down and were brought water and bread. It took a while for a server to get to us and we opened our own win. We were never offered any other beverages. We ordered an appetizer and after not receiving it for around 20 minutes the waitress made note if it and said she'd check on it. Next thing I know our entrees are delivered. We let the server who brought our meals know that we never received our appetizer. She said she'd check and also have it taken off of our bill. They ended up bringing the appetizer after our entrees. Halfway thru eating our meals our waitress asked if we wanted dessert. We said no because we weren't done eating our entrees at that point. She brought us our check and seemed to be rushing us out. They also had not taken the appetizer off the bill. The food was okay but not great (we had the calamari, the crab cake, and the duck). The staff were nice enough but the service could have been better. There was 2 of us in our party and our bill was $99 for the 3 items, which to me was a bit expensive for what we received.

My family has a long-standing tradition of attending the Pitman Theatre Christmas show every year for the past 15 years, and we always go to Sweet Lula’s for dinner beforehand. Unfortunately, our experience seems to get worse each year. We arrived at 6:00 pm and did not receive our appetizer until 7:30 pm. There were 8 people in our party, yet only 6 rolls were brought to the table. When I asked for a couple more, the response made it feel like an unreasonable request. Our meals finally arrived at 7:45 pm, leaving us rushed and unable to enjoy our dinner before the show. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the delay, despite multiple tables around us cancelling orders because of the excessive wait time. This is the second year in a row we’ve had this experience, which is disappointing given how long we’ve been loyal customers. On busy show nights, it may be helpful to limit the number of 6:00 pm reservations so guests can actually enjoy their meal. We truly want to continue this tradition, but changes are clearly needed.

The server was nice, however the food was not good at all. For $45 for a filet it was first overcooked then undercooked. The mashed potato’s and vegetables were cold. The first time was fine then after not having it right we decided to just not eat. We got the check and left. It was a horrible experience and I won’t be back. There were only 5 tables there so really were no excuses. Then when I came out after show, ironically all 6 trash cans were right up against my car which was parked handicap with sign for my mother so she wasn’t even able to get in the vehicle I had to move.

Overall, very disappointing and horrible experience. My wife wanted to dine here for years, but we never made it until tonight. Our server was working his first night at the restaurant and you could definitely tell. We ordered an appetizer, entree, and a salad (with chicken). Drinks were simple, a fountain soda and iced tea. We never received water; however, most other tables did. The appetizer was average, but came out within a reasonable time from the kitchen. The main course, salad and entree took between 45 minutes to an hour. Unbelievable! The server did not give a reasonable explanation why there was a delay. When the food finally came out, the food was average, especially for the price. We both ate some of the meal and within minutes after placing our silverware on the plate, someone other than the server, removed our plates. It almost felt like we were not welcomed. We each one refill of our drinks. When we receive the bill, we find out that the iced tea could get refills, but not the fountain soda. Crazy! Price per beverage was $4 so we spend $12 on simple fountain drinks. Plus, a 4% credit card charge was added to the bill. Neither of these policies were explained by the server. We will never dine at this restaurant again. There was no adjustment to the bill to reflect our long wait, only the server’s explanation that he is trying his best. When looking for a night out with dinner in the Pitman area, avoid this restaurant. High cost, poor service, and average food. Owner needs to recheck their menu…prices of drinks are not mentioned anywhere on the menu we were given and no mention of it online either. Regardless of what owner states….PRICES ARE NOT LISTED. AT LEAST OWN UP TO YOUR MISTAKE…it’s your Menu.

Mother’s Day; started out great but our Brunch at Sweet Lula’s was not a happy experience. Our party of three arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation. There was no hostess to check in with but after about five minutes a server took our name. We were seated not long after. The restaurant was full, which was to be expected on Mother’s Day so we were very patient. Our server came to the table, introduced herself and took our beverage orders. On the table were three forks, napkins and water glasses. We received the beverages, no spoon or sugar for the coffee was provided so we had to ask. We placed our orders with the server at that time which was waffle and fruit, eggs Benedict and quiche. An hour and 10 minutes later, still no order. No additional visit from our server who along with many other staff including the owner had walked by our table at least thirty times. Our table was prominently positioned in the widest space to walk by against the wall, all by itself. We were never even offered a carafe of water. At that time, we kindly asked our server to check on our order; she returned stating that our order would be coming up and apologized for the wait. After waiting another 15 minutes and observing parties of three or four, that arrived well after us being served, our patience had ended. Our daughter brought this to the owners attention and she went to the kitchen to see what the delay was. She returned along with the server stating that "the server was supposed to put a time on our order and she did not" so it was her fault. She said the order would be prepared then. The server told us that she had checked a few times prior to see what the delay was but they never prepared the order. So now I guess since the order was in and it just sat there, it was the kitchen staffs fault? At an hour and a half, my husband was annoyed and just wanted to leave and I was trying to calm him as our order should arrive soon. We again brought to the owners attention that we still had not received our order. As I was calming him, she also stated saying it was a beautiful day and to relax and not get worked up. I said please just get our order, I did not need her condescending attitude at this point. She should have taken accountability, apologized and made our order a priority. At the one hour and 40 minute mark, the order arrived and at that time we were offered a carafe of water but we still had to ask for a utensil. The waffle was pale and undercooked so we brought that to Lula’s attention and her response was a look of surprise and said “they have been the same all day”. So, I guess that is okay with her rather than say let me see what I can do to fix it for you. At that point my husband asked that she take the waffle away and he shared our daughters breakfast as he did not want to order anything else at this point. I asked that the waffle be removed from our bill, no discount for inconvenience was offered (not that we expected one) and we did not hear from her again. My daughter felt bad for the server because she was blamed for all of this so she made sure she gave her a nice tip. I have never posted a negative review and I apologize for the lengthiness but I felt this was necessary as the attitude of the owner and her lack of onus, plus the service and food turned a happy occasion into a disappointment. Maybe instead of the owner taking dishes off tables and serving food she could have been greeting her guests and walking around checking to see if every table was being serviced appropriately and timely. Additional, we were not the only table that waited as long as or longer than us that day. We will not patronize this restaurant in the future or recommend it to anyone.

Had the worst experience possible here. The owner (female) was insanely rude and acted completely disgusting. She openly berated her very kind staff and argued with customers. I will never, ever return here and will tell friends not to as well. Owner needs to do better, speaking to their staff like that is unacceptable. Very embarrassing behavior. Would give a negative rating if I could.

Terrible experience. We sat for a full hour and didn’t even get our salad. There was no sign of ever getting served. After an hour the waitress brought us a roll as if she was doing us a favor. I guess you only get a roll if your food is delayed by 90 minutes. Seating was horrible. Small table next to stairs with a lot of traffic. We left money on the table for the soft drinks and walked out. Pizza down the street saved us before the show.

I ordered the rib stack for $52 but ended up paying $57 before tip. It was the worst steak I’ve ever had—definitely the wrong place to go for food. The plates were shockingly dirty. On top of that, after dining there, you’ll leave smelling like you spent the entire day in the kitchen. If I could, I’d give this place zero stars.

First time I ate here. A gentleman recommended the blueberry pancakes so I ordered them. My friend ordered a chicken panini. Our waitress took our order but did not ask us if we wanted anything to drink. While waiting for our food you could smell burning food cooking. Our order came out and my friend’s panini was a little dark. She said it was tasty but the chicken was tough and she had a hard time cutting through it. My blueberry pancakes were very dark and tasted burnt. The pancakes were so tough I could hardly cut them. They served them with a tiny condiment cup of syrup and no butter. I had to ask for additional syrup and butter. The wait staff was very nice. I also noticed while sitting there that one of the pillars inside the dining area was coming off the wall. A little scary. I will not go back there anytime soon.

The food was the biggest disappointment. The bread was cold. The bang bang shrimp was barely cooked and missing the bang (spice) from the sauce. We ordered the lobster ravioli, the duck and the short rib. The basil pesto sauce in the lobster ravioli had a very gritty texture. The duck was extra chard and the whipped potatoes were chunky. The short rib didn’t have much taste. Some of the veggies were cooked all the way, others were raw. The gravy made it taste like hospital food. Again, the mash potatoes were chunky, no creamy like the menu stated. The staff was friendly. The waitress checked in on us a lot. They have a screen in the background playing cartoons, but it was hard to see the screen from where we were sitting. The environment around the screen was in a disarray which took away from the experience.

If I could give this place less than one star I would! The service staff was doing their best, but were clearly understaffed. Our food came out pretty quick after we eventually ordered. Everything we ordered, for a table of four, came out cold. The most laughable plate of food was the chocolate chip pancakes. They were 3 pancakes with chocolate chips dropped on top. And the amount they charge per entree is absurd for what we got. The gentleman dresses in a suit that was proudly walking around taking pictures of the plates of food, inquired about our meal. I was honest with him that it was very disappointing. He said he would take care of it. I didn’t know what he meant, but he never came back. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Very loud. Food was subpar for the price. Crab cakes had no taste of crab. The chicken tikka masala was rather bland. The dumpling appetizer was over fried so they were hard and tasteless. Service was very bad. Couldn't even get the check so we could leave! Waited at least a half hour for the check despite three requests for it. Finally got it when we stood angrily with our coats on and then she created a check for another table instead of ours so she had to go back to do ours. On top of that, they told Open Table, through which we had made our reservations, that we never showed up. Truly wish we hadn't but we did so that was a lie!

J
Jean Urrasio

Made a reservation, hostess would not seat us until everyone arrived and was extremely rude about it. Finally, was seated and then waited over 15mins for someone to come over to the table. The waitress was looking at the table and then asked the hostess if our table was hers. She came over - no apology for the delay, took our drink order. Keep in mind a fountain soda costs $4.00. She can back with the drinks, we put in 2 app orders. The first one came out, and the waitress asked if we wanted to put in our diner order. We did, the dinner order was for nothing too crazy, 2 Lobster Ravioli, 1 Salmon,1Duck. The second App came out. We were sitting there again for about 20mins and no one came back to table to check to see if we needed anything. When the waitress did come back, she refilled our drinks, little did we know refills on fountain soda are not free! Anther 15mins go by and still dinner had not been served. We see the waitress frantically going back and forth between the kitchen and then the hostesses. Now it's been almost 1hr since we ordered so we had to flag down the waitress to tell her to cancel our dinner order because we need to leave. We had pitman theater tickets that start at 8pm - like everyone else at the restaurant at 7:50 the whole restaurant cleared out. The waitress went back and all of a sudden, our dinner showed up from the rude hostess, we weren't going to scarf down then food to run to show. We told her to keep it, and we would pay for what we had. Again, no apology she just made a face and walked aware. We get the bill it was $69.00!! The apps were Bangbang Shrimp $14 and the Stuffed mushroom $15; 2 sodas & 2 ice teas were $32.00!! When we questioned the bill and we were told again by the rude hostess they do not offer free refills, so your soda costs more than your food!! Considering they ignored us most of the time we were there, no apology, no let's make this right, nothing. Just handed us the bill and walked away!! I love supporting small business, but I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE!! We have season tickets to the pitman theater, and I would rather go to the pizza shop!! So, if you are planning on going, I suggest you bring your own drinks because you only get 1 !!! It is a BYOY !! Horrible place !!

I ate there tonight and the service was good but the cook was extremely rude to the waitering staff. I heard and saw him scream in the waitress’s face and as a waiter myself this is not acceptable. The owner was not very nice. She speaks to customers in a rude way. I would not recommend. I waited over an hour for my food. It seemed like they were not prepared for tonight because of the show across the street. People were leaving before the food comes out. DO NOT COME HERE.

E

They gave use dirty cutlery. The dinner rolls “service” was two stale rolls. When we complained and left the hostess said “sorry you can’t afford it.” Worst restaurant experience that I have had in decades. Save your money and avoid these rude people

We got there 1/2 hr after they opened. There were only 6 other tables, very loud music. I ordered crab risotto, sold out! So I ordered lobster ravioli, fishy after taste, my husband ordered crab cake all filler, it came with broccoli that was cold and had a bad after taste. Dinner did not come with salad but did come with cold doughy rolls. So no appetizer, no salad and horrible dinner, with tip$84!

We made reservations for dinner but we'll never go there again. The food was terrible- the dumplings were dry and burnt, the crab cake had no taste of crab, and the tikki masala was bland and didn't even have naan. The music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation and the constant clanking of metal from the kitchen was ear piercing. The service was abysmal. We had to wait more than half an hour and make numerous pleas for our check. Worst experience in a long time and we go out once or twice a week.
