Food was amazing and Charles was so sweet and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Awesome location!! Definitely worth a visit! The cabins are very clean & the staff is very accommodating. There's lots to do! Fishing, boating & camping! Added bonus, they have great bands!!
Great place to stop and eat. Charles was super friendly and the burgers and fries were delicious!
Nice family vacations. The cabin is pretty and clean. Pet friendly our babies girls enjoyed the lake and some welcome treats were left at the cabin. We rent a boat and then we went to dance. We enjoy to walk natural trails and some games. We enjoyed our vacation and we are ready for comeback.
First time staying at Barefoot Bay. I have to say I’m very impressed. Rented a cabin and an RV site for Labor Day weekend and my fiancés birthday. The cabin was clean, cool and cozy when we got here. The RV site has clean and ready as well. Check in was easy and we are having a great time. What stands out to me the most however is the service the staff provides. I met one of the owners. I didn’t know it at the time, but he came by our RV site personally and asked if everything was working and if we needed anything. Ran into him again later on and found out he was the owner. Pet friendly and all the amenities for a fun packed weekend. I’ll definitely be coming back and I recommend this place highly.
We always have a good time when we come here. We rented a cabin a few months ago. It was a very pleasant experience and our dogs got to enjoys it with us. It would be nice if there was a small dog park. In the evening outside the cabin there wasn't really anyplace to walk them. During the day we could take them to the hiking trails. We stayed for a week. The staff is always really nice.
Me and my family have been here going on 5 months now and we haven’t had a problem yet! Barefoot bay is awesome very family friendly and the staff is amazing always going the extra mile to be friendly. Keasha and Dirk are awesome! If you need to just get away and stay some where or want to stay long term I recommend Barefoot bay 110%
My husband and I stayed in a cabin celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary...I believe this place to be a slice of paradise! It was so peaceful and relaxing..I would recommend to ANYONE wanting a peaceful, relaxing experience to get a cabin..you have all the amenities of home to me..I will return to Barefoot Bay every time I can!! Which will be often.. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible...Thank you Robin for making it easy for us to do!
Such a beautiful location, friendliest staff, & delicious food!! I highly recommend visiting! They’ve made lots of new updates recently too with new ownership.
Barefoot Bay Marina is a beautiful place. The cabins are well stocked with everything you need (bedding, towels, dishes, and cookware). The RV park is nice and peaceful with a little play area for the kids and a dog park for the fur babies. I would recommend this place to everyone.
My family had a great time at Barefoot Bay Marina. One of the new owners was there and showed us around the property, it is a beautiful area. We have even thought about buying a RV spot for the entire year because it is so reasonably priced. The wifi worked just fine for us!
Barefoot Bay has quickly become our favorite place to stay since purchasing our camper last year. Very clean RV Park, Great Views, Good Fishing, and Excellent Entertainment on Friday & Saturday Nights! And most important, the people are very friendly!
Great time to meet with friends enjoy the water and some delicious food! We will be back!
Barefoot Bay is certainly being revitalized by the new owners. There are activities planned for every night of the week, fun for everyone. Saturday is definitely becoming a crowd pleaser with the wide variety of music being played starting at 8PM. So simply put if you missed last Saturday the 8th show starring Twisted Whisky you really missed a great time, so do yourself a favor and check out Barefoot Bay Marina. Also check out the cabins and RV availability. There are many beautiful lakeshore views, great fishing. Come check out Barefoot Bay Marina & RV Resort and form your own opinion, I think you’ll enjoy all they have to offer.
The new ownership has greatly improved almost every aspect of this place. It's the same serene natural lake setting, but the quality of food and service has skyrocketed. Charles Roberts is here to take care of you. My family and I are so excited to see this place grow!
Parked the Pontoon boat at the convenience dock and had dinner at Big Al’s tonight. Charles Roberts took excellent care of us and the food and service were great! Try the Philly or the Crispy Chicken Wrap, and the Margarita was just what I needed! Highly recommended! Check it out! 😎
I would like to say I love all the changes and we love the waitress, her name was Tonia and she really gave great service always had a smile on her. The food was great and will be coming back. Thank You
If you wanna have a good time, big owls is a good place to go very nice
If you choose to have an evening at Big Al's you will not be dissapointed. What a great place! We enjoyed a date night with great food and a great band! If you're on the fence about going.... GO!!!!!!
Great new owners and a new vision. All the staff are super friendly and love taking care of the customers. The new owners are creating a destination like no other in East Texas. There is so much more coming with renovations, food and entertainment. The owners and staff are doing great.
The remodel of this place is still a work in progress but the food was really good and the end product is going to be awesome! Charlie — who runs the restaurant — knows what he’s doing and has a gift for hospitality. This place is getting a huge facelift so go support them!
Ex food at good prices. Nice lake views.dinner and dancing. AN real alcoholic drinks.
Good time at Barefoot Bay Thursdays line dancing. Charles the bartender/waiter/all in one did an amazing job taking care of us. Definitely worth a trip out.
Exceptional service by Charles and his kitchen staff. They kept the kitchen open when we walked in at closing. Food was great and customer service was A+. So happy we gave them a try and definitely will be back!
Cabins are remodeled and super nice. The upgrades around barefoot are amazing happy to see that barefoot it getting the attention it deserves
My family and I really enjoyed our time here. Food is incredible also!! Will definitely be coming back as soon as possible.
Had the best time! The cabins were beautiful and clean, and the restaurant was amazing. Would highly recommend!
Absolutely loved our stay at this resort for New Year’s Eve. Had a sweet little cabin with great view next to a very sweet bar and shop. The band was great. The staff were very nice and accommodating and even the owner makes everyone feel really welcome. I can not wait for my next stay. This will be my go to get away from here on out. If your looking for a reasonable priced cabin with lots of things to do and friendly folks around you and some beautiful scenery, this is the place to be. I HIGHLY recommend you try it out.
Rented a site for the summer weekends. Had a wonderful time. The staff is so nice and accommodating. Just came back for a weekend of camping and again staff is great. The marina, store, and bar is super fun. Very laid back and friendly. Family friendly as well. The bad reputation from years has been debunked. The owner Misty Thornton has made so many improvements and worked hard to change the environment. On Friday nights they would have karaoke. The guys name is Kevin Collins and he was great. Always so kind to everyone . My daughter would always want to sing and he was so nice to her and let her sing. I hope your place is very successful! Will be back!
The new owners have made great improvements! Camp hosts Jim and Shay are very friendly and helpful!
New owners, great food and service and family oriented! Charles Robinson is the best! Great TV’s , AC! We are excited that Barefoot Bay is coming back 😎
This is newly owned and Charles Roberts provided the best hospitality! Food was yum! Great hospitality. Back on the lake we go. Peace ✌️
Stayed in cabin 4 , clean room clean bed . The price for 7 day stay was unbeatable. Bare foot bay far exceeded the expectations I had for a cabin located in a gas station/ marina parking lot in the middle of Texas . My kids loved the swim area , no gators seen praise God ! Something that really made it special was the staffs overall care for my family as guests. They went above and beyond several times to accommodate us all .
Came here with my family and had an amazing time !!!! The hospitality is outstanding & unmatched !!! If you want a good experience & an amazing get away you should come here!! Can’t wait to come back!
I went up to spend a couple of nights and tour Lake Bob Sandlin from my boat. My wife and I had a great time. We were met by a very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in one of the cabins and they were comfortable and clean. If you need a place to stay while your in the area I would highly recommend or just want to get away for a couple of days. Their boat ramp and docks came in handy and are very convenient. They also had some nice RV sites right on the water in one of the coves. I am rating them a 5 star because I enjoyed the staff and they were very accommodating.
I was so impressed with Barefoot Bay – they made our vacation very special. The view is incredible! The kids had a ball on the nature trails, and we were pleasantly surprised to see so many different varieties of birds. The beach and the pavilions were so nice – it was hard to get the children to leave after playing in the sand and water all day. Special thanks to our camp host who helped us level our home when we first got to Barefoot Bay – we definitely needed help from the expert on that task! We will definitely be returning next year for another vacation. If you haven’t checked this place out, you need to. Well worth the money.
Love the new owners and atmosphere of Big Al's! My wife and I stayed at the rv part while our home at lake cypress was being painted in 2013 and fell in love with the area around Big Al's. We now live within a mile of Big Al's and love going to Big Al's for gas groceries, dining and entertainment. Also love the boat ramp, dock and swimming area. Thank you guys at Big Al's! JD King
Love the line dancing on Thursday nights. Nelda is a great teacher! The new additions to the place have really created great atmosphere. Its the best spot on Lake Bob Sandlin!
We tied up on the dock so my family could go in for lunch. We had never been to this marina before, and for our first trip there we were all impressed. The service from Charles and the food was all top notch. Charles shared with us that they are working hard to change everything at Big Als and improve it all from the previous ownership. From our experience they are doing a great job and we can't wait to go back again.
We LOVE Big Al's!! Amazing atmosphere and great food!! Charles Roberts always takes incredible care of us!! Big Al has done amazing things and really upgraded the entire place. Big Al is now our #1 go to resturant in the area! We love being able to drive our boat up right up and have a cold one and a great meal! Bravo to Big Al and Charles Roberts for creating an amazing experience!!
The food here is fantastic. Their wings are a great value and taste amazing. The fries are chunky, hand cut, and clearly cooked in quality grease. The staff is very friendly and treat you like you're old friends.
We rented a house on the lake for two weeks. Big Al’s was amazing. Enjoyed several meals at castaways. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would recommend it to all.
The atmosphere is amazing and the they are friendly and they have amazing workers is super tasty yall go try big Al’s barefoot bay ay
We've been going to Big Al's Barefoot Bay for 5 years straight now in our motorhome and boat and have enjoyed it very much and exspeasuly since they have done all the remodeling and adding new things that the previous owners said they were going to do but never did. Good fishing and now great food and entertainment to enjoy. Looking forward to seeing you the full month April as we always do. Keep up the good work. Bert and Donna Tisserand
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely loved our stay at Big Al’s Barefoot Bay! The lakefront sites are gorgeous — clean concrete pads, full hookups, and stunning views of Lake Bob Sandlin. Staff was friendly, and the whole park had a laid-back, welcoming vibe. Met the owners, they were very kind and helpful. We grabbed dinner on the deck at the on-site restaurant, and enjoyed peaceful mornings by the water. The resort is well-maintained, kid- and pet-friendly, and has everything from a general store to a marina, laundry mat, Highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing, scenic RV getaway with all the amenities. We’ll definitely be back!
We had an absolute fantastic time at Big Al's Barefoot Bay! The accommodations were very cute and comfortable. It had all the efficiencies you need for a little getaway. The convenience store was equipped with everything you need for an adventurous time away! The restaurant was absolutely delicious and the entertainment was exceptional! I even learned how to line dance!! Loved relaxing in the beachfront lake. Looking forward to going back again in the near future!

We dined here Friday night and it was fantastic! The burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. The onion rings were crispy and not greasy. Addison was our waitress and she was great! They have several beers on tap and Vanilla Porter is my new favorite. We have lived across from this marina for 21 years. The new owners have completely renovated almost everything and we highly recommend it.
Big Al’s Barefoot Bay is a gem! The burger was absolutely amazing—juicy, flavorful, and well worth the price. Fresh ingredients and perfect cooking made it a standout. The breathtaking views of Lake Bob Sandlin elevated the experience, and the friendly staff made us feel right at home. Charles, the server manager, is the absolute man, running the place with passion and ensuring every visit is top-notch. Highly recommend this spot for great food and a welcoming vibe!
This place has some of the best hospitality, food and atmosphere. The cabins are super cozy and make you feel at home. It was a perfect escape and now we have a home away from home. Perfect place for a family get away, hosting a get together, or just enjoying live music on the water. 10/10 recommend.
We stayed 4th of July weekend and again Labor day weekend. Each stay has been amazing. The location is great, staff very friendly and the camp host, Shay, goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. The restuarant and the entertainment has been great each time we have been there.
The new owners have and are doing a great job. They have put together a good team and they are present and active in the business. Great food, venue, location, and atmosphere! As a Pittsburg resident and customer, I am very thankful for them. Thank You!
This place has been amazing for our family who likes to be on the lake and who hate to cook - good food, fun atmosphere and super close to our lake house. Renovations are awesome!
We had a great time at Big Al’s Barefoot Bay. Very comfortable and relaxing cabins. The food and entertainment in the restaurant were great! Having the convenience store and gas station on the property was very convenient. The scenery is beautiful and the lake was so refreshing. It was a great getaway!
WOW— what a wonderful time we had at Big Al’s Barefoot Bay Resort! We stayed in a beautiful cabin, which has recently been remodeled, updated, and tastefully decorated. Not only that, but the cabin was well stocked with a Keurig, plenty of coffee pods to choose from, and all the basic daily essentials. We also enjoyed the casual, country western vibe at Castaways Bar and Grill, not to mention the live music and dancing on Saturday night! To top it all off, the food was amazing— all fresh ingredients and made from scratch. Thank you Sondra and Alan. You are wonderful hosts and we truly appreciate your hospitality!
I’ve been here many times in the past, however, if you haven’t been here in a year or more, or ever, you gotta go check it out. New owners Alan & Sondra have done an amazing job of “rebuilding” everything. A great RV campground with brand new roads, concrete pads, and facilities along with a first class bar & grill with great service and atmosphere. If you come once, you’ll come back over and over and it will only get better!
Absolutely Amazing Experience! We had an incredible time at this lakeside restaurant. The view alone is worth the visit — peaceful water, beautiful sunset, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay all evening. The food was outstanding — everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. You can tell they really care about quality and service here. Perfect spot for a family dinner, date night, or just hanging out with friends by the water. We’ll definitely be back soon!
My wife and I stayed in the RV resort, space #55, which was towards the west end of the resort. Long sites so plenty of room for our 40' 5th wheel and truck. Very clean and well kept. Positioned on the lake so you can walk to the shore to fish, boat, swim, etc. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. Plenty of hot water. Community room had a sofa, large TV and coffee maker. Next door was the Castaways Bar and Grill. They had a special Valentine's Day menu, which my wife and I enjoyed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Plan to return in the summer.
Truly, a one of a kind place. They have everything. From RV sites to cabins, to a restaurant on site and they have live entertainment. The staff is amazing. The food is great. Cannot give a better recommendation for a weekend or a longer trip to Lake Bob Sandlin. Having Propane on site was a huge help as well. Kudos to all of the folks at Big Al’s!!
Big Al's new amenities are top notch !. The bathrooms/showers are large, very clean and awesome. After a day on the lake it is refreshing to get into a roomy, hot shower. The laundry room has plenty of excellent easy to use washers and dryers for a reasonable price. The very affordable, level, peaceful RV spots have beautiful views of the lake. The staff are so friendly, and make you feel like an important part of the family. Wonderful home away from home. Doesn't get any better than Big Al's Barefoot Marina !!
Very clean rest room. Nice boat ramp rv site very nice. Most are concrete. The worker ae very nice and will help you if needed. This is our third time staying here.
Are there tonight and had a great experience! Wonderful friendly service, tasty food, and clean atmosphere. The wait staff was prompt and festive! The space was clean and inviting. We had 8 in our party and everyone left satisfied and pleased with the visit. Will definitely go back!
We have our boat in one of their slips. It’s truly amazing what they’ve done to improve the facilities. The food, stand entertainment are greatly appreciated.
Great RV park. Very clean. The grounds are very well kept. The bathrooms and showers are wonderful, very clean and large. The laundry room is nice. We especially liked the staff, no matter their role. They all are friendly, courteous, and helpful. Fishing has been great. A very nice place to stay.
Big Al’s was amazing! We hosted an event there and with the uncertainty of the weather, the staff went above and beyond for us & everything was great! The space was beautiful and so nice! The Cabins and RV spots were perfect! I don’t think you will find a better Marina!
This was my first time here and this place is wonderful, very clean and well maintained. There is some construction going on but not a problem for me. The staff when we arrived showed right up and welcomed us. Shay was very nice and polite. Great job Shay. We enjoyed the bands over the weekend. It’s rained a couple of hours but we sat on the back porch and enjoyed playing dominoes. The wait staff!! Kudos to Tanya the best waitress, I give her 10 stars. Just so friendly and very nice lady. She was very busy but she was very quick getting our orders. We watched the Longhorns play on the big screens. They are making many improvements and this place is going to be our #1 place to come camping. I wish you guys lots of success. Definitely worth 5 STARS ❤️❤️
Stayed here both past and present, it has improved 100% under new ownership. Tasha is absolutely amazing. She is very involved and really cares about her customers. If you are looking for a great place to camp or just hangout, this is it!
New owners have transformed this property!! The bar/restaurant was super fun with live music and excellent food, great time. The lake and views are spectacular, and the renovations of the rv resort very impressive. Highly recommend.
Our stay there was amazing. We loved getting to go straight from the cabin to the water then to a wonderful restaurant. The staff is awesome, kind and informative. This is a great place to unwind. We decided to stay for a full week. This allowed us to settle in and hear about all the improvements the new owners have made. It's easy to see how much is either new or updated. (The property was hit by a tornado in March so they are overcoming that as well). Overall, I would rate this resort a 5 star because it offers everything we needed to unwind and make family time the priority. It's just what I needed after not having a vacation for over a year. Bob Sandlin lake is the nicest lake I have ever seen. You will love this lakeside resort!!!
We stay at this RV spot for the whole month of April to fish and chill. Love this place and recommend it highly. The owners are great people.
The line dancing at the restaurant there on Thursdays IS THE BEST! Great teacher, great people, good food! Chef started making salads and I hope to see more. I’m glad they listen to their customers! GREAT PLACE TO GET AWAY AND HAVE SOME FUN…
We had such an amazing, relaxing weekend here! Shay was an outstanding Host with the most beautiful, genuine smile. I immediately felt like part of her family as she went out of her way to ensure we got settled in. Throughout our stay, she checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The only thing my husband and I left without, was getting a hug from her! We can’t wait to go back!
Hello, just wanted to say what an improvement all the way around. Last night I went I took my daughter. Her two friends, and one of their moms went as well. Our service was top notch. There was nothing left of our food because it was so good, and I’m a little horse this morning from singing and hollering because the band was so freaking awesome . Our waitress never once past our table without asking if we needed anything., that is how you do service and take care of your customers I was blown away! Y’all are doing a great job and we just wanted to say thank you for letting us have the best time last night without having to drive out of our town to do so .

The camp ground is fairly nice. They no longer have the bar and grill, or live music, like they advertise. We rented the paddle boat for two days, had to carry it out of the store ourselves, and down to the water, to find out it don't work so good. We actually used our kayak orrs to row the thing. Addvise: stay on campground side, it's nice and peaceful, a lot of long term campers who are very nice and helpful.
The good: nice sized spaces, full hook-ups and great views. Clean laundry, great hiking and very quiet. The bad: sites and roads need to be improved. Speed bumps are unnecessary and too big. WiFi is basically non-existent and cell service is spotty. You can bring a big rig or TT, but careful of the speed bumps and bad roads within the campground. Lastly, lots of ants!! Overall it's a nice campground. 👍
Barefoot Bay RV Resort & Marina is a wonderful resort that offers a relaxing beachfront setting with modern amenities. It features beautiful scenery, a variety of recreational activities, and quality service. It is an ideal destination for those looking for a vacation close to nature and full of amenities.
Tried out the new showers really nice. Lot's of room and bright lighting.
My husband and I stayed at Barefoot Bay marina for 2 months while he worked in the area. Had no real problems. I did think that they should put sewage on the side of the lake. Would of rather been looking at the lake instead of the back end of someone else's RV. The owners said it had free Wifi... Not, it never worked. And the free laundry was one washer and one dryer. I took my stuff in town to do them. But I guess it works for the weekenders that go up there from time to time just to play on the lake. Oh and didn't caught anything other then turtles. All in all, I'd go back there if he was to work in that area again. Hopefully they'll have all the bugs fixed with the Wifi....
Wife and I just returned from staying a few days here with some friends we invited. Overall, enjoyed our stay. The place is under new mgt so we'll be interested in seeing if the place improves or not. We loved the location on the lake and it was peaceful and mostly quiet. The rv spots are good but yeah, the road within the park could use some maintenance. Bathrooms and facilities relatively clean. A little disappointed that the restaurant or bar wasnt open (am told for over two years now). Is a great place for hanging out with family, boating and fishing. There are what looks like quite a few permanent rv'ers there. One resident apparently loves to crank his music fairly loud but it didnt last long. There are alligators and snakes here so be careful swimming late at night. Was my first time seeing one, so was a memorable trip for us lol. We'll come back and try it again someday.
The staff that was there was very kind and hard working. The cabins posted on the photos isn't really what is available. The cabin that was avialable had one bed and there was two of us that weren't a couple. The other cabins were still under construction. There was a band on Saturday night that was popular and there wasn't enough staff to accomdate and was told there were resistent to hiring staff to keep up. There were some who walked out because it took so long. The pricing is rather high compared to other cabins in the area. While beautiful, just want to educate future customers.
We liked being there on lake. We had reservations for next year for 3 months. We checked out from our 1st 3 months spent there only to be told they didn't have our reservations for next year. I even asked them a couple of times checking on the reservations for next year. They don't seem to actually care about repeat costumers. A spot we tried to get we were told was unavailable they then gave to someone else for long term that came after us.
Needed a place I could rent an rv spot long term for job. They advertise free gas and well maintained spots and washer dryer and gasoline both on the lake and at store. We have had to tow more boats that have run out of gas because they lie and say it’s always coming but never does. We have to mow our own half acre spot no one ever does, always out of ice because employees won’t bag it when they have an ice machine, always low or out of bait, mess up bill monthly with over charging or lost payments, clothes get locked in a washer or dryer often. No noise after ten or “quiet time” is never enforced, the activities they advertise daily- nope! Don’t get me wrong the potential this place has is amazing! Great views, great spots, great fishing, Great Lake just very poorly run establishment! Needs new management for sure! Sadly only place to get gas on lake and they can’t so ppl are forced to drive in town and haul it may be the most frustrating! You can’t charge the insane amounts you do when you don’t offer 90% of what’s advertised on your flyers and website! Trying to find availability now elsewhere to give my business to!
For starters, I would not call this park a “resort”. It is definitely not resort quality AT ALL. They gave our reserved spots away before we got there & had to reassign us when we arrived (fiasco). We had to weedeat our grass around our area because it was so high & not maintained. The bathrooms/showers were very clean, but not updated to a “resort” standard even in the slightest. The “walking trails” were not mown or maintained. The sand volleyball/bar area was okay, but again, not updated to be as nice as it could be. We made the best of it it, but this is not a site in which we will ever return to. It just had a “sketchy” vibe to it & did not match the niceness of the photos on their website. There are plenty of others nearby that are nicer & much better maintained.
We didn’t have a good experience. The RV camping area needed mowing, it took four phone calls to get the electric box opened and the sewage was backed up. They have residents that don’t keep their lots maintained and it really makes the area look bad. We won’t be back.
I do not know where to even begin on this review. First of all, if you are looking for a quiet place to stay, RUN. Do not walk, RUN. My husband travels for work so if you need to wake up early in the mornings, this definitely isn’t the place to stay. The people beside us were up all hours of the night yelling, cursing and playing music so loud the camper walls shake. When I called about it, the park manager stated that the music was at a “reasonable level” and there was nothing they could do about it. Yea right. Then they say they have an after hours phone number to call if you have an issue. Did not get an answer on either phone number so I called the cops. Their pit bull also attacked our dog when we took her outside to do her business. This place is waiting for a lawsuit at this point with the guests allowing their pit bull to charge at all of the little dogs in the park. Also, if you have children, this isn’t the place to stay either unless you want them cursing like a sailor and watching pretty much an adult movie in the making in broad daylight. Then the guy who mows the lawns ran u to our camper not once but TWICE. Beware if you have nice things, the natives will take them out. It doesn't stop there though. When we packed up and left the people beside us threw a RAW steak under our slide out I guess hoping it would rot and smell our camper up. People here have ZERO respect. I’m sure they were mad that we called the law but people do not appreciate you rattling the walls of their camper with your music blaring and you yelling outside their bedroom windows all hours of then night! The WiFi is horrific and Verizon service is not great here either. What is sad is this place has great potential because the camp GROUND itself is amazing but everything else is a joke. We will NOT be back that’s for sure. I would rather sleep in my car on the side of the road than stay at this place ever again.
This place is a JOKE!!!! Reserved a cabin for my husbands birthday, and was looking forward to quite time. When we arrived we realized that the cabins are in the parking lot of a gas station, which was super busy and congested!!! I did peek in the cabins and they are cute, but not what was advertised. Unless it’s a weekend getaway with your fishing buddies don’t waste your time!!!
We reserved our RV spot a month in advance and when we arrived it was taken and it looked like people had been living there for years, junk piled everywhere. They offered us a discount if we would change spots so we did. We asked instead of a discount could we use a pavilion for the following day, they said no. They offered to move one of the RVs that was near the original spot, this wasn’t until after they offered the discount and we had already set up in the other spot. Then the next day they said they aren’t discounting anything but now we can use the pavilion. After we had already set up our stuff to swim elsewhere. We had also rented a cabin. We called in advance to check what all we need to bring, sheets, towels, pillows, soap, they stated that it was all included with the cabin. When we arrived that was not the case. There were no sheets for the pull out couch, no extra pillows, no soap, shampoo, or anything we had previously asked about. We weren’t expecting HolidayInn but a little effort would have been nice. The new owners are extremely rude and the customer service was lacking to say the least. 10/10 would not recommend.
JUST ABSOLUTELY RUN AND KEEPING LOOKING ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR VACATION. My husband and I have demanding work schedules that leaves little time for vacation. We coordinated with my parents to book this cabin for us to have a family vacation and see family friends. The cabin booked was 2 bedrooms with a pull-out couch. It had a separate living room and kitchen that would allow for indoor gathering at night. When we arrived for check-in at 2:00 pm which is what the email said, we were told check-in was not until 3:00 pm and “it had always been 3”. Well, how hard is it for you guys to correct this information on your email confirmations? Also, it was obvious people were still in the cabin, so I stated it does not look like the cabin will be ready soon since the cabin still looks to be occupied. Robin, the manager, stated there were already “long term renters in cabin 5 that had been there for months,” and that we would be in a different cabin. No one called or emailed to say that this cabin was no longer available. I proceeded to then ask Robin when they knew we wouldn’t be given this cabin, and she stated, “ughh good question…. as of yesterday, which is why we didn’t call.” Robin did not appear to escalate this issue and thought that it was good business to do a bait and switch with our stay. We were given a portable trailer next to the sewage system, but good news, “it was still on the lake.” Our new accommodation included one bedroom, a small futon, and an air mattress. The place was not clean. There were bugs in drawers and dusts on shelves. The floors were filthy. Stairs were wobbly. It was definitely not worth what we paid for. We were told no discount and to take it or leave it…. When escalating this to the owner, the story changed, and they had decided to give long term renters who wanted that cabin a week prior to our arrival regardless of our booking. THIS IS BAD AND UNETHICAL BUSINESS. No one truly apologized and admitted this was wrong, but instead it was “We want to make this right.” First, we were offered a rental pontoon boat. We have a boat, so no thanks. Next it was armbands for their band and 80 bucks off for the portable trailer. Again, no thanks. Next was moving out of that trailer to the next trailer free of charge. By that time, we already had our stuff unpacked. No, we do not want to waste time moving our stuff and into the next trailer. Personally, I would not have picked this place to begin with, but family friends insisted to go here. Besides the bait and switch that was pulled on us, this place is loud and full of locals. Locals park in the RV site and blare their radios. There is no gate to keep out locals wanting to see the band playing at the marina on Saturday nights. There was continuous traffic of locals blaring there music well after 10 pm. While it is expected to have noise on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend, the music and base loudness was absurd to the point that my 3- and 4-year-old nephews couldn’t sleep. Therefore, this is not a kid friendly place. Absolutely will never come here again.
We stayed in the RV park for the weekend. The spaces are very close and prices seemed higher than most similar "resorts". In addition to the high prices they also required a $100.00 deposit for the campsite. I have no idea what this could be for, but again outside the normal. We had an issue with needing to launch our boat at 6am on the morning of a tournament and the gate to the ramp was locked and no one around to let us launch. Tried all the numbers on the door for emergency contacts and no answer. We asked later in the day if it would have been possible to get a code to get in the locked gate to launch and the answer was no... The code is for wet slip users only and not for ramp users. If you're coming to Bob Sandlin to fish a tournament, I would recommend staying elsewhere unless you're planning to launch after 7am!
The place is certainly NOT a resort They put us next to the maintenance man’s site, who had a dog that barked continually until approximately midnight Our site had empty propane bottles in the bbq. The fire pit had trash in it and was very overgrown The place has trash and plastic water bottles littered all over the property. They charged a $100 security deposit to my charge card and did not return the $100, when my wife called to ask about the charge the office person said you did not come to the office to check out!! Wife asked to speak to manager, office person told her “I already explained it to you” and would not allow her to speak to anyone else We did no damage, stayed one night Rude, argumentative office person
This place is absolutely horrible. Owner and manager only care about to bottom line and do not care about employees or customers period. The new management is horrible and flat out rude. I've heard around town for quite some time now about how bad this place has gotten over the last year and I can now confirm it for myself. The local reputation of this buisness and this owner is not good at all to say the least. Which they would sell this place to someone who actually cared. Really sad to see how trashy this place has gotten STAY AWAY is my recommendation. The only saving grace this place has (if you can call it that) is Tony. He is great and the only person that seems to care. Other then that there is nothing to write home about.
You feel like your in an RV park, not at the lake. The RV park is on the swampy side of the lake and you would not want to swim in It! So we went across the highway to the Lake side. Even as a camper you still have to pay to get an armband to swim or dock your boat. We paid $20 for a pavilion for our group. We pulled our boat over to the side of the pavilion (literally no where else to put it) and the lady came out yelling at us to move our boat because it was in the swim area?? There were no signs telling us not to park boats or designated swim area signs or roped areas? Plus no bar or food. It's all closed now. It does earn 1 Star for good bathrooms and clean RV park. Neesless to say, We will not be back.
This rv park isn't accurately depicted on its website or other advertisements. The park is full of "full timers" who have built porches and even have freezers sitting outside their campers. The "bar and grill" is closed down and no longer exist (yet website hasn't been updated). The boat launch doesn't have a decent place to tie your boat off or dock. The "beach" is a giant sand box. The swimming area is all of a few feet long and not designated with signs or floating ropes. The grounds were not maintained (grass growing up around campers that have been there for a while). I can believe at one time this was probably a very nice place but age and neglect has not been good to this property. I hope the owners can course correct and revitalize this property.
Worse camping experience this summer! Dog owned by employee chained up outside and barked most of the night! No customer service - not given internet password or restroom code! Dirty, trash left in our site! Avoid this place if you want to sleep!
Highly upset with what this place has turned into. Last owners were so much better and made this place feel like a community of family! These new owners have changed so much on this park to make it feel no longer like a home. Ladies who used to work the office were amazing! I was able to go in and they greeted us with love. Now you walk in and one of the ladies is so rude bosses you around, hangs up on you when there is a concern. It has become a disaster after the tornado they say they are going to help others in need with one thing and they don’t!! Im very disappointed in this park and how it is being ran by a bunch of rude, hateful people.
Our first time going, rented 2 cabanas for LITTLE kids birthday party. Made NUMEROUS phone calls to ask every question in the book, as some people were driving over an hour to get there. They lied to us about weekend activities. As well as told us everything was family friendly. It was NOT. There were NO weekend activities, such as the karaoke or live music we were promised. But had there been, we were told when we got there, that you had to be 16 to even attend. As well as someone over 21 had to be in the volleyball court for our crew to play volleyball. All things we should have been told when I stated "I need to know everything we need to know, as we have never been to your facility." I asked questions such as what's available, how much does it cost, what time does the music start.... (was told 8pm, as its on the sign as well) And the place is OVER RUN with feral cats, eberything smells like cat pee. Definitely will NOT be going back again
Unbelievable experience. We actually have been here before and the service was average but it’s a marina so the expectation hasn’t been high. However, this evening was a way different experience. We were a big group but mostly kids and it started stress free. Then, one of the guys in the group needed to use the restroom and went into what he thought was the men’s restroom (marked men) and did his business. It turns out that the restroom was in the process of being remodeled but the door was open and the toilet was accessible. After he did his business (no. 1) he came out and sat down and said “I don’t think that bathroom is working.”. We shook it off and continued our good conversation UNTIL the bartender came over and was the rudest woman I had seen in a long time and said “you know that bathroom is out of service?” We said no but we were sorry and she walked off. Then! It escalated very quickly! This woman (with “Owner” on her shirt) walked up and said pay your tab and get out! We were in such shock that we just looked at her at first and she continued! She never asked any questions or wanted an explanation. Just get our tab (of 10 people) paid and get the hell out. Please don’t lose the context here… there were no belligerent drunk or obnoxious adult. We were enjoying our evening like we have done every other time we have been up there. It was Crazy!! No more! Please don’t take the chance with this place. The lady is out of control.
FLACCID AL’S BAREFOOT BAY JUST THE DETAILS -Our lawnmower stored at Barefoot bay was taken and used by the new marina owners. They claim that our contact and payment info was never transferred from the old owners and it was abandoned property to seize because of that. -Trying to get things sorted out we had unpleasant interactions and intimidation tactics used against us and potentially witnessed some child labor violations. -Payed them the past due balance. The returned mower had approximately $500 worth of vandalism damage done to it. They eventually paid for the repair which seems to be an admittance of guilt. They have not admitted or apologized for any of the damages or unethical use. THE FULL EXPERIENCE Upon returning spring of this year (2025) we were met with all new signage and a fresh wood facade inside and out. New cameras everywhere, an updated bar and dance hall. It was impressive at first glance. Sadly the facelift that had been preformed was nothing better than lipstick on a pig. Under the shimmering red gloss this place is still just swine wallowing in its own filth. On our first visit this year to pick up our mower, a drowsy looking man that appeared to have gum disease approached us. He told us he was wondering who the trailer belonged to. We explained that we were the owners of the equipment. He stated that our automatic payment we had previously set up would need to be updated. When we returned 3 weeks later we found an empty trailer, our mower was missing. Someone had to cut our lock and cable off. We went inside and asked for a manger only to be greeted by a child behind the counter. I asked for a manger and she went to go find them. A middle aged man with a large cold sore approach me and asked what I needed. I was sharply dismissed and directed to a lady in a side office. She started filling out a theft report when a young lady with an upper lip piercing came in and asked what happened. She asked if it was a red mower and then said she would be right back. While I waited for her to return the little girl behind the counter was processing transactions at the register unsupervised. Selling snack, drinks, and even cigarettes at one point. When the woman with the lip piercing returned the girl asked her if it was legal for her to sell cigarettes. She was told no, but not to worry about it. I was eventually handed their land line phone and talked with their new property manager Jessica. While on the phone the cold sore man returned and demanded I take that call elsewhere. He insisted that was a business line and I needed to take the elsewhere. After I told him I was on the business line with the business (the property manager) he stood there staring at me and eventually walked off. A week later when we picked up the lawn mower it was back on the trailer. That’s where their fulfillment ended. The control handles were bent so badly the enamel paint was chipped off and the lawnmower was not controllable. The key cylinder had been destroyed, the throttle control was bent, one of the transmission releases was bent, and a chunk of the handle foam was torn off. They vandalized the lawnmower extensively before returning it. Eventually the property manager reimbursed us for the vandalism caused on her team’s watch. That seems to be the only ethical part of this entire exchange. What seems to be the most concerning for the future of the marina is the complete lack of ethics within the staff, and potential of willingly violating child labor laws, a minor working the register alone selling age restricted items. The behavior by the cold sore man, a supposed manager trying to pressure and intimidate us, damaging property that they were paid to store and keep secure. “Big Al’s” has fallen flat. This place needs to seriously consider replacing the local management. From what I have seen and personally experienced recently at Barefoot bay, it is my opinion that people lacking so much integrity and intelligence operating a business are untrainable and just need to be replaced.
