Opinions de Meat & Potatoes Pittsburgh
This was a spot that was recommended by a friend and it did not miss! Come here and try everything. We ordered the Welsh Rarebit, Pub Burger, and the Salmon. All the dishes were phenomenal. The burger is the top prize here!! Cooked perfectly and the bacon was an added bonus. Whatever sauce they threw on the bun was wow!! 🤩 also they gave us so many fries we could t finish. The salmon was good! Not our favorite dish but still good. Wed come again and try something else. The bone marrow and the steak looked incredibly appetizing. Please if you’re in Pittsburgh try this spot. Oh the Old Fashioned was A+ and the mocktail as well. Only downside was the mocktail was quite small. This place is doing the right things. Welcoming staff as well!!
This was an incredible dinner! Bartenders, waitresses, spot on! cocktails and wine, were wonderful! We will definitely go back, we had a solid experience. The only negative would be how tight the tables are together in some areas. We were their to celebrate our daughters birthday, yet i also felt like i was a part of the 3rd date for the couple next to us. Beyond that, the food was top notch, and we will be back.... and for the 3rd date, make sure we get an invite to the wedding...lol
Perfect space for a nice dinner. Loved the décor and menu; they both share the same aesthetic. Each course was better than the last. I’d recommend the Wagyu carpaccio as a starter, it was perfect followed by the perfectly cooked filet mignon. Compliments to the chef!
Called last minute and asked for any vans told they were booked on a Saturday night. While out walking around the area we happened to walk by and decided to ask. Luckily for us they had a spot for three at the bar! Our lucky night! The food and staff were topnotch especially the bar staff. It took a few minutes to order a drink but after that it was fantastic. The drinks were well made. Only complaint was they used regular ice for old fashions. They should have specialty ice for such a great spot. Had the bone marrow which was delicious. If you have tried bone marrow definitely give it a try. Their New York was prepared definitely then what was on the menu, kind of a special, and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. My fiancée had the flank and fries and they were both delicious as well. Oh I can’t forget about the Cesar salad, one of the best I have had. I am a huge Cesar fan! I add the anchovies and it was perfect. We had the chocolate desert and it was delicious like everything else. Highly recommend Meet & Potatoes.
Fantastic food, amazing drinks and all around beautiful environment! first time eating here and i was incredibly happy with how our food and dessert came out! slightly crowded on a friday night but so worth it for the flavor of the food!
This was our first visit to Meat and Potatoes. We were in town from Philly for a college visit to Pitt with our daughter. Our server Bri V. was very personable and provided great service! The “Sweater Weather” and “Root to Berry” cocktails were perfect. My wife and I shared the Tomahawk steak and our daughter had the NY Strip with mashed potatoes. We got the carrots, creamed spinach and fingerling potatoes as sides. This was one of the most tasty meals we have ever had! The flavor of the steak was fantastic! It was cooked perfectly medium and the au jus is so good. All of the sides had absolutely delicious flavor. My wife and I were too stuffed for dessert, but our daughter had the chocolate chip cookies and she loved it. It’s a great ambiance and atmosphere whether you’re sitting at the bar or at a table. We look forward to visiting again next time we’re in the Burgh!
You wouldn’t think it, but this place is phenomenal for vegans!! Wish I had checked the menu sooner. What a cool spot for a pre-show dinner and what a delight to have such good vegan food at a restaurant named Meat & Potatoes. Also phenomenal NA cocktails, but just overpriced juice but real quality mocktails.
Make a reservation and don’t skip the Beef Wellington. The servers will tell you it takes an hour, which it almost did, however there are plenty of apps to munch on as your wait. 11/10 recommend
Showed up late Sunday evening, had great service and phenomenal food. Beef Wellington was well prepared, carpaccio hit the spot.
EVERYTHING was delicious. Our waitress Lindsey was super nice too. Steaks were perfectly cooked. 100% recommended
It’s our second time having beef Wellington here! Both times the Wellington itself is amazing! This time however the potatoes were very disappointing. We pointed it out to the waiter who brought us mashed potatoes as a replacement.
My daughter and I ate here on a busy Saturday evening. MAKE RESERVATIONS. Even though it was extremely busy the staff was attentive and we never had to find someone to refill drinks, take our order or remove dishes. They were on top of every detail. John S was our server and he was funny. He was knowledgeable of the menu, had amazing recommendations and made us feel like we were his only table. Most importantly though..THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE. We had the duck pate as an appetizer, and the filet mignon for our entrees. Everything was cooked perfectly. Also highly recommend their dirty martinis with house stuffed blue cheese olives. Everything was exceptional. Cannot wait to go back soon.
We loved it here! It was so busy, there was a line first thing on a Saturday night. However, we were seated quickly and were still able to get out with plenty of time to get to our show! We got the special, a dry aged strip, and it was delightful. The bartenders were very attentive and provided wonderful service. We were so impressed with our first experience, will definitely be back!
First time eating here, before a show. Seated promptly, host brought us waters, waitress was prompt to take drink and starter orders. We split a wedge salad that was Romaine, not iceberg. Was a pleasant surprise, served with Bleu cheese crumbles, soft boiled egg, and M&P pastra pastrami pork belly. The double cut pork chop was outstanding! At least 1.5 to 1.75 inch thick, bone in. Think beef ribeye, bone in, same cut. This was the most tender pork loin I've ever had. Perfectly cooked to medium rare with an amazing seared crust. The bake bean sauce compliments the pork extremely well. Think pork and beans, get it? The spicy collard greens were perfect addition with a vinegar base to contrast the sweet baked bean sauce. Oh, they weren't that spicy, just right for me. $54 for a pork chop dinner is a bit high, but, being downtown in the Cultural district, Meat & Potatoes delivers on every plate. Looking around, all the patrons plates were packed and stacked. Highly recommend, splurge on your date night: park, eat, see a great show, all within 500 feet of the Benedum Center. 😋👍🤩
I had a great dinner here! The steak was cooked perfectly and very juicy. The mashed potatoes were smooth, creamy, and tasted like home. I also loved the roasted carrots on the side
We were told that Meat and Potatoes do things a little bit differently. Service is impeccable. We made reservations, but chose to sit at the bar so we could sit next to each other. The main reason we had chosen Meat and Potatoes was because they have Carpaccio on the their menu. While not particularly impressed with the Carpaccio, the beef was a little tough to cut. It was delicious, and completely different as we were told. I had asked some questions about the menu, and which was ordered more, the pork chop or the steak. The immediate answer was the porkchop, so game on. Let me just say, the size of the porkchop was pretty much equal to what the waitress bring s Fred Flintstone and tips the car over! I felt like a siren, bells and whistles would go off if I finished it, or got a T-shirt. It was massive, and equally as delicious! It came with some beans and spicy collard greens. I can't believe I ate it all. Cocktails were excellent! Thank you Meat and Potatoes for making our visit to Pittsburgh memorable and delicious!
Waited nearly an hour for our food to come out, and once we had it, it was way too salty. Ordered the tomahawk for two and French fries. The French fries were very thin and crunchy which I love. Caesar salad was decent.
Service was great! Unfortunately, the food was not. Pretty limited menu. Wagu was good. Pub burger ok. Rigatoni and Mac and cheese tasted like they were made from a box. Very disappointing. Drinks were good, except the tonic was flat.
We loved old Meat & Potatoes but not so much since they reopened. There were 5 of us last night and we were all disappointed in the food especially for the high prices. We expected better. But I will say they were busy so we might be in the minority. I personally would not recommend it. Two positives caesar salad and the staff.
My husband made reservations for us to celebrate a really special life event for me. I was super excited to eat here but unfortunately that wasn’t the case and I had the total opposite experience. I first want to say our waitress was very nice and attentive. We both ordered two glasses of moscato to start and after taking my first sip something tasted off. I’ve been drinking moscato for years and never had anything taste like that. My husband tried it as well and said it was horrible. I decided to walk up to the bar and I told the man that was bartending that it had a bad aftertaste and he never said one word back to me. He reached out to take my glass and then grabbed a straw and started sipping my drink that my husband and I just drank out of!! I couldn’t believe he did that. It was really strange and uncomfortable and I felt violated. He then made a new one and handed it to me and said try that. I took it back to the table and it still tasted off but that whole experience made me not want to get another. We then had the tuna tartare which was the only thing that was good. Then our main dish came, the 50 oz Tomahawk that costs $161.00. We were super excited to eat it and thought it was going to be delicious considering it’s the most expensive thing on the menu. When I took my first bite I had to spit the entire piece out because it was literally all fat. My husband tried to find pieces that were actually edible and was slim to none. Literally every piece was pure fat. We told our waitress and she even agreed that it was extremely fatty and stated that we probably had a bad cut because they were in the process of receiving more tomorrow. She said she would let the chef know. After filling our entire napkins up with fat pieces that we had to spit out she said he told her it’s supposed to be like that because it’s a ribeye. Which clearly is false as the waitress told us it was an extremely fatty cut of meat and that they don’t normally look like that. They offered no money off, nothing!!!! I couldn’t believe it. We literally couldn’t eat any of it. It was disgusting and we were made to pay full price for crappy meat. What was meant to be a celebration ended up being extremely disappointing and frustrating. We spent almost $300.00 on one of the worst meals I have ever had and to have the bartender basically drink our spit and make us feel violated. I 100% do not recommend this place.
