Upon entry to this lovely establishment we were greeted by the super kind host, seating us at a beautiful window seat overlooking the river. Perfect. Our waitress Bri was absolutely delightful. We ordered Bloody Mary and coffee. YUM! 🤤 The star of the show was the Asian Benedict- PHENOMENAL-OUTSTANDING- ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Compliments to the executive chef Darien who personal came to thank us for the compliments to the chef! Well deserved! 🙏
The Foundry was fantastic! Great good, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. We had the Perogies, Lamb ragu, Pan seared snapper, and the lemon bar for dessert. It was all so delicious. The perogies are a must get!
I can’t recommend this place enough! I coordinated a wedding for a family member last night and we had a great experience. The reception was in the back room, it’s spacious and beautiful on its own but having the flexibility to add your own decor and vision was awesome. Kara and Andrew were so kind and helpful. The staff were incredible and on point. Our dinner was buffet style. *the Buffalo Mac and cheese rules* everyone had a great time. Don’t overlook this place for any special event, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you again for a wonderful evening!
This review is for the newly restarted Chefs Table Experience at The Foundry. We went here as a special birthday treat. If you are looking for a unique and fun dining option for a special occasion this is it. The restaurant happily prepared a one of a kind six course pescatarian menu for us. Huge shout out to Chef Darian! He was a delight. Super personable, hilarious, and explained what and how he was preparing every step of the way. Thank you Chef!
Food, drinks, vibes— this place is a 10/10!! We sat outside for brunch and enjoyed some appetizers and they were incredible! We got the Brussels sprouts, pork belly, and fruit and we cleaned our plates! For our entrees we got chicken and waffles, biscuit and sausage gravy with eggs, kids chicken tenders and fries, chicken sandwich and a salad. All were absolutely amazing! Fries and potato wedges were even phenomenal. We sat outside, they could definitely use an awning or more shade because it was HOT, but there was inside seating! Waitresses were great! We will definitely be back!
Great place for breakfast before a Steelers game. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with the waffle. The French toast was tasty. We had the cauliflower with both seasonings on the side, and it was tasty too. We would definitely visit again.
We had our wedding (ceremony + reception) at The Foundry, and we would absolutely recommend it for events! We had about 100 people, so we had to split seating between the event room and the bar, which was no problem and actually fun for our vibe - a little less traditional, cozy, and encouraging people to move around and mingle. We also had access to a portion of the patio that led to the river walk, which was perfect to step out for air. It was a beautiful space for a more relaxed fall wedding. The staff was WONDERFUL - everyone was so sweet and was really on top of things! We thought staff would just keep the buffet full and work at the bar, but they also went around checking with everyone for drinks, including guests that went outside to the patio area. We were so impressed! Several guests have said this was the best wedding food they've ever had. Rachel, the venue coordinator, was very easy to work with and flexible with our questions and ideas. Sometimes, it takes her a little bit to respond to emails, but she's very thorough if you're patient. She also made an amazing floor layout. We do recommend having an event/day of coordinator on your end or someone to help with your setup, because you won't have access to the space until a few hours before your event, which was not an issue for us but is something to consider when booking. We were thrilled with everything The Foundry did and have already recommended them to others for their events!
Recommend reserving a table. Food portion sizes were great! Food was delicious. Casual or dressy atmosphere depending on the occasion. Prices were good and you get a lot of food for the money. Best fried pickles I have had. Pork Belly app was good too! Had Lamb chops and NY strip. Food is locally sourced which is always nice! Not a chain restaurant.
Cool place for a small wedding ceremony and reception! The Foundry has a semi-private room in the back that can accommodate around 50 people. I had such a great time photographing a wedding here - and you have direct access to the Rivewalk on the North Shore right through the glass doors in the back of the room so finding beautiful photo spots right in the heart of downtown is so easy! I appreciated that once I found parking for the day I didn't have to move to get to beautiful photo locations - everything is right there for you! We got some great shots of the yellow bridges and the Gateway clipper with the Point in the background, and there were even plenty of picturesque places with cover overhead when it rained. The banquet room is accessed by a walk through the restaurant, but with the heavy sliding barn doors to seal it off once you're in there, we were able to have a DJ and play music without disturbing the restaurant guests and visa versa. Great venue for a unique wedding!
Given the name of this place, and the outward aspect, I expected bar food. And that's what I got, but it was really good bar food! My smashburger was excellent, my wife's salad with salmon was also really good. They were comfortably crowded but not overcrowded, even though there was a game going on, the service was good, the drinks were delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised overall!
The food was good. Nothing special but tasty. Maybe a little on the pricey side and maybe a little oily but overall it was pretty good. Our service wasn't that good it felt like we were forgotten about. It took so long for our food to get to us and it wasn't even a busy night. The atmosphere was cozy and nice. Right next to the river. No complaints there
I started off with a Moscow mule they have on tap, it was tasty!! We started off with the pierogi appetizer which was really good, butter joints pierogis were definitely much better but not a bad start! I got the French dip, I enjoyed it, the horse radish aioli wasn’t my thing and the jus was a little too red wine forward for me but over all it was good and fries were great. My wife had the chicken Cesar wrap (she’s been having some gastro issues so nothing too crazy) and she enjoyed it. We went and walked some of north shore went down to the water and walked along the stadium with the crowd. Overall it was a nice night, I think the foundry is fairly standard fare and nothing too crazy but not bad! The real bright spot was our waitress Lindsay she was absolutely amazing!
Salmon eggs Benedict were fantastic. We really enjoyed the home potatoes as well. Cooked perfectly with a good crisp. The French toast had good flavor. They let you garnish your own body Mary with a lots of options. Would love if they had bottles mimosas but not enough reason not to come back. Server was very friendly as well.
Nice atmosphere once you get to the main part of the restaurant. Good drinks and I thought my salad was great. However for the price I paid for the steak frites, I think it could have at least been plated nicer, and it was nothing special.
Their pulled pork is tender, and mild, and I had mine with a bit of hot sauce. The pretzel roll it was served on was excellent. The cole slaw was a bit wet, and is just ok. The fried cauliflower is truly delicious. The romaine/kale caesar salad with fried chicken was good, but could have been dressed a bit more. The cheese on the salad was nicely shaved in big flakes. The walnuts on the caesar salad was an interesting choice of ingredient. The service was good, although our server didn’t bring us a water bottle as she did with the other tables, and we had to go inside to the bar to get water. The back patio seating, with riverfront view, was phenomenal. I would go back.
The Foundry is a gastropub in the North Shore. I thought some of the food we had was good the rest was average. Our portion sizes weren’t that great with the Reuben not having much meat. The service was not good, the lamb ragout came out cold and needed reheated and they forgot one of the drinks we ordered. With the high prices and bad service I probably won’t come back. Sorry to say The Foundry was disappointing. Atmosphere and service wasn't bad. But the food and drinks were lackluster. I visited for brunch and I probably wouldn't go back. Chicken and waffles were boring. The waffle seemed like a frozen, boxed waffle. The pimento cheese dip was okay but was served with minimal pita triangles for dipping and we were charged a fee for extra (mind you this dip was ordered to be shared between four guests)- plenty of dip, pita was enough for maybe just two of us. Bloody Mary was straight up terrible. Plenty of better places to #BrunchBurgh.
Made Mothers Day reservations for our large party of 11. Very nice, trendy atmosphere in the heart of the North Shore. The server was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was definitely not worth the 500 dollar check. Everything was edible, but not wow or worth returning for. With such a large group, everyone ordered something different... from burger, to lamb ragu, and everything in-between. Every person's response to their plate was " It's OK" It is a special treat for my family to go somewhere more upscale in such a large group, and this year's choice was a flop.
The over all space is nice, modern, and inviting. Our server was very bubbly and attentive and was great throughout the entire visit. I wish I could say anything positive about the food I ordered. After ordering a couple appetizers, I wasn’t as hungry as I was initially and thought a salad with some protein might do the trick. For the Caesar salad, they offered steak, chicken, or salmon for protein, however shrimp is offered on other dishes throughout the menu. I asked our server if I could add 3-4 shrimp or whatever the serving would be to my salad, but was ultimately told they were too low on product to fulfill that request. I was hopeful that shrimp would have “helped” out this salad, but to be honest, I could have made this myself for $12 at home and spent maybe $6 and it would have tasted better. Hoping they work out whatever “kinks” are happening because $12 for what I received, was a joke to say the least. The server and manager were the only saving grace that day.
We went to The Foundy after a football game. There was an open table by the bar (the restaurant area is in the back), so six of us sat down. We asked the bartertender if we had to order from the bar, and she said yes. We got a round of drinks. 15 minutes later, a manager came over and told us we had to vacate the table and request a table in the back. We asked why, as we were just having a few drinks, and there did not appear to be a crowd waiting for tables. He was a bit brusque and insisted that we get up and leave the table. I admit to saying "fine," with a bit of sarcasm, and we started to walk out. He followed me out to the street and said, "Are you an American? Do you know what it means to request a table?" - I ignored him and we walked away (I am an American). There was clearly a miscommunication among his staff. He was rude from the start, and I was quite surprised that he followed me out and got even more disrespectful. I know it was a busy day, but I worked in the food industry, and never did I experience this. We went to two other places later that were lovely and friendly. Even though crowded. The bartender was friendly and lovely, and the drinks were good. But I won't go back there.
