Smaller place but big flavor and kind employees. The brisket is top notch, flavor and tender. Their pork ribs equally good, with a great mango taste. Terry Black brisket is only slightly better because they have an outstanding bark to it. I still recommend this place.

First time here and I was surprised how good the brisket was. I got to watch them pull out a new uncut brisket and you could see the juices weeping out, I want more. Honestly this place is the best bbq I've had yet in Tx. I was told Texas has the best bbq but I'm not seeing it yet until this place. The best in Texas maybe, bottom line. I must go back for the chicken. Kicking myself for not getting it the first time. Oh, thank you for calling it a popper, a Twinkie is a sweet treat not a spicy yummy treat lol lol lol lol. It's just a jalapeno popper for brisket in it then just call it a popper 😂

Came here as a family because one of our cousins suggested us go to Lockheart for Texas BBQ. We did not regret that decision! The brisket was pretty moist for the most part but I would highly recommend getting “wet brisket” for maximum tenderness if I were to order again. The beef tips were amazing and super tender and the sauce is delicious. Overall the food has intense smokiness in a good way. I would highly recommend if you’re from out of state and looking for Texas BBQ with smokiness!

Delicious food and very friendly and welcoming staff. Brisket was on point (of course) and the mac and cheese was excellent. Jalapeno sausage had a great kick. Staff went out of their way to check on everyone and make sure everyone was doing okay.

east coast guy in Texas with my son looking for apartments in the Richardson - Plano area. Many locals recommend Lockhart’s Smokehouse & it DID NOT disappoint! amazing brisket - tried every side they offered & their jalapeño popper (which someone said is called a Texas pickle) EVERYTHING was delicious. Besides the brisket - my favs were the backed beans - deviled eggs & spicy mac&cheese! Will definitely be going back when we visit our son. Staff was very helpful to us being a newcomer - bartender very helpful as well.

This place knows brisket! The fatty cuts are incredible - none of that gross, chewy fat you get elsewhere. Just melts right in your mouth. The bark has the perfect crunch without going overboard on salt. The spicy mac and cheese is awesome. Best part? The brisket doesn’t need to be doused in bbq sauce to taste great. The staff is super friendly and on point. If you want amazing brisket without having to pick around weird fatty bits, this is your spot. Trust me, you won't regret it!

This place is really nice! My wife was craving some brisket and she remembered Lockhart because of the Jalapeño poppers! We went inside and of course we got the brisket and Jalapeño poppers and for the first time I tried the Honey Whiskey Turkey and it was really good! This is a very nice place! The food and the restaurant vibe is very Texas style! We really enjoyed the food and they have sides there like the pickled onions that come with the food! Highly recommend this place to check out and it will not disappoint!

We visited Lockhart in the past but they were sold out so we left. This time, we arrived when they opened at 11 on a Saturday to ensure they wouldn’t be sold out. We ordered brisket, original sausage, and pork spare ribs to go. Our friendly server offered us BBQ sauce and white bread as well, no extra charge. The restaurant is decorated with all things Texas and BBQ. The aroma of smoked meat met us at the door and we were instantly hungry. The brisket was so good no BBQ sauce was needed and the ribs were fall-of-the-bone cooked to perfection. We did not buy any sides but some looked so good; e.g., the blue cheese slaw. We highly recommend Lockhart for authentic Texas BBQ—just be sure to arrive early. We visited this time because Lockhart Smokehouse was a sponsor of the Hendrick Scholarship Taste of Plano 2024. We really like to patronize businesses that give back to the community which Lockhart does.

THIS is Texas bbq!! The perfect meal after a long day of driving. There is free parking all around the area which I appreciated. We found a close spot in the parking garage on the back side of the restaurant. It’s counter service and bbq wrapped in butcher paper with a large selection of yummy sides. The brisket would melt in your mouth and the chicken was just as good! The baked beans had an extra kick (not spicy) to them that I have not experienced and couldn’t put my finger on but so good! The cocktails were in jelly jars but strong and tasty! A great value for an enormous amount of food!

Absolutely the best place in East Dallas! Nicole is the best bartender. The 2 dudes behind the counter provided us with the most choice cuts of brisket , burnt ends and sausage! The youngins loved it here. Bought several shirts! So happy to be here. So sad to leave here for Chicago!

One of the best barbecues I've had in the Dallas area! Lockhart Smokehouse has a simple menu, but they get everything right. The brisket was beyond juicy, and the flavor was great. All of the other sides were really good, and I was especially a fan of the spicy pickles. The service is kind of a pick up and serve yourself situation, but the workers are glad to help you make choices in the menu. Despite it being a quiet night, the manager showed great attention to caring for his place. Finally the decorations are nice. On one wall you get a combination of Texan decor and the history of the place, and on the other just a nicely decorated bar. While the price is high, it is rightly so for a place well kept in downtown Plano, and the food is delicious.

This is my second time here but the first time was several years ago. They have such a great reputation and we stopped for an early lunch around 1130 on a Friday. The decor is great and you smell the bbq that’s imbedded in the walls when you walk in. A little surprised that it wasn’t that busy but more table choices for us. I have to add its own of the more expensive bbq places. What I got here was $45 and no soda or dessert either. Honestly evaluation, I was less impressed than I was expecting. The brisket was slightly dry but did taste good. I also had the jalapeño sausage and it was just warm (not hot) and seemed to lack taste of good seasoning inside it. The beans were good but didn’t blow me away. Quite an expensive lunch, to not be blown away.

do not go here expecting good brisket. The brisket has zero flavor, no smoke ring and was overcooked. The jalapeño sausage was actually very good. Worst potato salad I think I’ve ever had in my whole life. I took two bites and threw the rest away.. Got the deviled eggs and they were decent. Topo Chico to drink people working there we’re actually nice $45.67 for that.

I was honestly disappointed in the quality of the food. The worst was the brisket. It was so dry. It tasted like it was yesterday's meat. I did not like their sausage, but in their defense I think I'm just not a fan of smoked sausage. Of the many places that I have had it, I've only liked it from 1-2 places. I will say the texture was like biting into ground beef. The twinkie was ok. The bacon was coated with something, maybe sriracha, and I wasn't crazy about it. The baked beans were not sweet and a bit salty. The mac & cheese was very good. The restaurant itself was clean and lots of charm. The staff is always nice. Maybe I remember things differently, it has been a while, but I remember there being more than one type of sauce. Taste is subjective, but preparation is not.

Arrived about 7:15. Closing time 8:00. Took us awhile to order, understanding what they had left and how to best order. Got checked out and went to our table. Realized our order had not been filled correctly. Went back to get correct order but no compensation was made for the error. So now it’s after 7:30 and we settle in to have our meal. The bar TV is on the game we wanted to watch. Several people at the bar and two other tables eating. Pleasant enough. One by one the other patrons finished and left. About 7:55 the hostess came by to ask if we needed boxes and bags to go. Yes thank you but we weren’t finished eating yet. She returned and asked if she could help us sack up our food. Well, yes, as soon as we are finished. They turned off the music, the TV, the game we were watching, started putting the chairs up on all the other tables and basically pushed us out at 8:05. It is Saturday January 31 2026 I just left this location and it has pretty much ruined my afternoon! I ordered 1 pork rib 1 sausage 1lb of brisket Cole slaw and beans. Spent $dollars and pretty only ate the brisket that was just alright and probably could’ve gotten the same at dickeys bbq smh. As someone who has spent 20+ years of going to the original Kreuz and Smitty bbq establishments in Lockhart Tx this was very sad and disappointing to experience. The brisket here was dry, Cole slaw nasty in my opinion sausage tasted reheated and not smoked which should be the highlight of their establishment outside of the brisket and it’s not. The beans were below average so we didn’t even hardly eat any of it. Nothing worse than being hungry spending money on food that’s horrible. I guess that’s why the original Kreuz doesn’t even bother with side dishes or anything else but the pride they take in preparing good quality bbq. I would have been better off driving to Lockhart Tx! DO NOT waste your time or money coming here it’s not worth what they’re going to charge you. I will NEVER go back. The original sausage is some of the best you will ever find, but you wouldn’t know that from coming here. This establishment does NOT represent Kreuz or Lockhart Tx well at all. I am not even one to ever leave reviews for hardly anything, but this hurt that bad! And we are still hungry by the way! Customer service was ok.

Update: In response to the owner's reply regarding my recent experience, I want to clarify that I explicitly declined a refund period. The reimbursement for the peach cobbler falls short for compensating for the overall disappointing experience, especially considering the nearly $70 expenditure. My decision to share my feedback publicly is not about class; it's about providing an honest assessment for others. What lacks class is the owner's response to criticism, rather than embracing it constructively to improve the business. I find it appalling. The take out experience was unsatisfactory. The beef brisket had too much fat attached to the slices. The sides were bland, unseasoned and the peach cobbler was terrible, prepared without the proper ingredients. The manager on duty definitely offered great service. The individual sides were sufficient for one person.
