O’Brien’s Ice Cream

Walnut Creek at its finest. Stop by along on a bike ride or on your way to Safeway. The Anime Shop around the corner makes for a good treat. Honestly, if you’re looking for value, service, and speciality this parlor has it. I think one of the hallmarks of a small business like this in the community is its following. You don’t see a picture of every fan on the wall at a chain ice cream store. I feel like the people involved really make an effort to make every customer feel welcome and heard.

Love that this place has yummy flavors of sugar free ice cream. Their regular flavors are delicious and the employees are always SO nice! We drive 25mins to come to this ice cream shop! Wish they would expand and change their name back. I love the Latin inspired flavors!

Really good ice cream! Lots of variety to choose from even for those who are lactose intolerant. Friendly service and great about letting you try samples. I highly recommend the Nutella ice cream and they give good portions per scoop. Smoothies are also surprisingly good too! Great little hole in the wall for some ice cream.

We love O’briens! We come here all the time and my two daughters love it!

If you are not familiar with Mexican style ice cream, you are in for a solid treat! Great flavors and rich ice cream. You can also get a combo with lots of fruit. Try it! And take some paletas home (ice cream bars)!

O'Brien Ice Cream is awesome! They have a wide range of flavors that are all delicious. My favorites are Corn, cheese, avocado & pistachios. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help you pick out the perfect scoop. The ambiance is really nice too, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your ice cream. I'm a big fan of O'Brien Ice Cream and highly recommend it!

Glad to see a place that offers all types of flavors in the area. Store was super clean. Service was fast. The store smelled heavily of fabuloso cleaner. Ordered vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and chocolate. Both were creamy in texture. The fresas con crema (strawberries with cream) came with frozen strawberries. Surprisingly fresh and refreshing. If you're a texture person this works trust me. The tostiloco was missing the sweet element of mango. I also wish the cucumber was copped up into smaller pieces. Not yet sure if I'd visit again.

I’ve loved this place for so long. Everything is delicious and it feels great to support a small business. But the last time I went not only did the smoothie go up from 8.50 to 10 but the size went down with no notice! I feel kind of scammed and frustrated! The left smoothie is from a month-ish ago and the right is from a week ago!

Or perhaps the kids working the counter haven’t been properly trained? In any case, I have felt ripped off, and as good as the ice cream is, it’s left a bad taste in my mouth. I would rather not patronize Baskin-Robbins, but if I can get more bang for my buck there, then BR is where I’ll go. O’Brien’s, please up your scoop-size game.

The ice cream here is way lower quality compared to the original little shop in Virginia Hills. This one is more commercial regular quality, does not have unique home made or organic taste.

It has been a while since we went to Obriens but always recommended them for their variety. Saturday 12/2 my wife and I went with our son. Store was clean but they were playing rap music peppered with curse words and other very inappropriate words. We got our ice cream (they were out of rum raisin which we used to get a half gallon for our elderly neighbor) and went outside to sit down and enjoy our ice cream. As we sat down outside we realized they were piping aforementioned wholly inappropriate music outside.., it was quite surreal.

It was bad enough that they only offered vanilla flavored sugar free ice cream—now they offer NO sugar free options. Never going back.
