Delicious! I had the western cheeseburger and a vanilla shake. My mom had a Hamburger with a chocolate malt and fries. We both agreed they were cooked perfectly and it all tasted so good. Right on the highway it was so convenient to stop.

We stopped in for lunch we had the deluxe cheese burger combo it comes with a medium fry and a medium coke these old style hamburger stands are hard to find it's not like the mass slap together burger places it's not cooked until you order it and it's a very hearty burger it had tons of flavor and all the the fixens it was very good the Fry's were hot all in all a great experience I have gone by this place for many years but never stopped but now that I have I will definitely be back ....

My husband and I love Elkins. Its priced fairly. The burgers, shakes, and other various items are formidable. Seriously, just delicious food you wont mind spending the money or calories on. Plus, the staff is always lovely and the charm of its 70/80s era burger joint aesthetic is wildly popular when family visits (particularly the in-laws.) Plus, they are breastfeeding friendly, fellow mommas! Highly recommend giving this place a try.

They now have outdoor shaded seating with picnic tables with large umbrellas. Shakes are not as thick as they use to be. Perhaps they add more milk. The Garlic fries are Delicious. We get the fries xtra crispy & they toss them with a mix of herbs & minced garlic. It's finger licking good.

Great, reasonably priced American diner food. The milkshakes are very good. The staff is always friendly. You can order inside or at the window outside. Parking can be iffy sometimes if there's a lot of people but it's never been an actual issue for us so I wouldn't worry about it. I recommend this place to all my friends!

My husband & I have driven by this little old style hamburger joint for years and have always wanted to drop by. Today we finally did for dinner... and were very happy we did. I ordered a deluxe cheeseburger with no sauce, tator tots & a soda. My husband got the western cheeseburger and fries combo. Both of us loved our meals. The burgers were pretty big... a little messy (have napkins, lol) & on the greasy side but just right where it contributed to the tasty flavor. My tator tots were a buttery goodness- yummy! So full after eating it all. The kids working there were friendly, took our order in a reasonable time, and when our order was ready they accidentally made my husband's burger a double which he was happy about, "BONUS"! By the time we ordered and were served was only about 15 minutes- pretty quick. The inside of the resturant is older (its been around for a long time) with expected normal wear & tear... but who cares- we were there for the food. We will definitely be back... all these people who left good 4-5 star reviews know what they are talking about. The food is delicious!! Next time I really need to order a shake!! I pass this place almost daily and have been wanting to stop. Well the opportunity finally came. I bought a cheeseburger and deep fried mushrooms. Prices were reasonable, service was polite and quick. Food came out fresh. I will definitely be back.

While working with a UPS driver as a seasonal helper we decided to stop in here for lunch. I’m not sure what my driver ordered, but I got the #1 which is their pastrami burger, I’ve never had one before so this was new to me. It’s a great place to go for a bite to eat. I’m not sure what they do to their pastrami, but it was delicious and better than anything I’ve had other places. I’m definitely going to try and make it back again and try something different!

The food was pretty good! You gotta try their jalapeño ranch sauce to dip your fries in 😋🔥 It's not hot, but its flavorful! Perfect for me, cause I don't like spicy hot stuff. The service was exceptional, I felt welcome and taken care of. 😍

Went here for the first time yesterday. Had a double Western. That's how I grade new places. Best-I mean BEST- Western burger I've ever had! Classy place and the staff are very friendly and fast. The burger was so hot we had to wait a minute! Talk about hot of the grill! Was just passing through, live about 25mi away, but planning a road trip just to go there again! Enjoy!

My son loved the gimmicky plushy claw toy machines. Acquired a small pink creature. Brought back memories of video game machines 30+ years ago. Certainly will return here again soon. A little bit of a wait, but well worth it. Some of the best Malts, Shakes, Burgers, and hot dogs I've ever had. Great for locals and travelers alike. Only downside I can think of is if it's packed, good luck parking. Would recommend to any and all with a bit of time and a hungry stomach.

Got the combo #3, the burger was juicy and flavorful, the bun and the ingredients were fresh and made the burger an experience alone. The French fries were perfectly crispy and soft. Just the right balance! I topped it off with a lemonade. Also! They quoted me 10 minutes and called for me before the time was passed!! Worth it!

Went to Elkins with my daughter who is the pickiest eater ever and we ordered 2 cheeseburgers, onions rings, chili fries, a milkshake and an ice cream cone and we are every bite! And now she wants to go there for dinner every night lol and the guy who took our order was super nice and had amazing customer service so we will definitely be coming back again! Very soon!

Small town burger shack Super easy accessibility, but their small lot is crowded when they're busy. Recently under new management. Although I had not had any significant complaints in the past, they seem to be much more consistant and have upgraded their customer service and are better at managing call in orders and organization. The menu has changed a bit, but most of the fan favorites are still available. Great burgers, hot dogs, and shakes!

Took my kids here after a day at the Pumpkin patch. There was only 2 people working there and they were spectacular. Food was so good! Best garlic fries we have ever had. The cheese burgers were amazing as well. Both gentlemen did a great job when things were very busy. Even my son said "10 out of 10! "

Although the air-conditioning wasn’t working very well. Ashton the guy taking orders provided some of the best service I’ve ever gotten! I will definitely be coming back to the fact that Ashton was such a great help and provided such a good service! Hopefully the fryer will be working next time!

They had no air conditioning inside temperature was probably a hundred forty degrees. Outside temperature was a hundred twenty. Plenty of flies landing all over you. Interesting little burger joint, but it's definitely not a place I want to return to very often. More expensive than I expected.

I have lived in the area for years however today was my first time stopping in there. I got a small burger and fries and I will say the burger was cooked perfectly and had great flavor and the ratio of condiments to Burger and bun was ideal. The fries were crispy and fresh. No complaints here! Definitely want to come back in the summer to try a shake.

Fresh and hot fries! Reasonable price of burgers! We stop by here for lunch before we go on a hiking. They made all foods as soon as they got order so it’s very fresh. Hamburger sauce and patties are classic. I also got peach smoothie which is a little sweet but it’s okay. They have some high chair and booster chair for babies.

First time here. Came with a friend. Oh my gosh...the owners are so nice and welcoming. We shared garlic fries...banana split and western bacon burger. The fries were crispy and so good. The garlic...yummy. I dipped it is the jalapeno ranch...mmmm... The western bacon burger was delicious..I would for sure order it again. Only patty....bacon..cheese.. Onion rings...on a sesame bun...with bbq sauce. The banana split was very good. Too much...the sauces were all delicious...I dont know about the other reviewers...but this little hole in the wall...amazing...😁😁😁😁😁

Honestly, the food is pretty average, on par with a McDonald's but with a longer wait time. The only redeeming factor is the milkshakes. Great shakes for a very reasonable price with so many flavors, my personal favorite being Oreo.

We loved the food and the male server was very nice and the meals were yummy. However, the young lady (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) did nothing. She went into the restroom and was on her phone in the bathroom for 25 mins. I know it was that long because my grandson needed to go..bad, he's 6 y.o.... The dining room was very hot, it was warmer inside than it was outside. It was not clean, in need of deep clean and painted.

Elkins burgers are very flavorfull, and cooked to perfection. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5, because their French fries were way over seasoned, and the dine in room was way too warm. They didn't have the Air-conditioning on. (Outside Temps in the high 90's) I would go back for the burgers.

It would be great if the menu prices were updated. Prices went up and portions got smaller.

The customer service was excellent as soon as I arrived at the restaurant. The milkshake was exquisite I myself got the half peanut butter half hot fudge. Although the appetizer of fried zucchini was just average tasting and the breading kept falling off of the zucchini, so not bad just not great. Also bring your pocketbook if you want a burger too expensive for my taste.

We waited 50 minutes for our food. When we questioned what was taking so long, we were told they must have lost our order ticket. However, they were apologetic and got the order to us as fast as they could.

The shakes are great, fresh and lots of flavors you can mix on request. The fries are good like homestyle. Burger was good not great and could've been larger, shake made up for it. Loved the fried zucchini side, great dipper with ranch.

Our first visit to Elkins, and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu is pretty extensive for a small diner/drive-in, so it took a while to go through it. Thankful that there wasn't a line of folks behind us! We ordered the combos for the pastrami burger, deluxe cheeseburger, and western burger. The fries were nice and crispy. The combos came with a small sized order of fries, and single order was definitely large enough to be shareable. The pastrami and deluxe burgers were really good. The western was super dry and needed every bit of that Coke to get it down. We also ordered some mini corn dogs that came out overcooked. Not too worry because an employee came out to check on us and must have noticed the color on those corn dogs and immediately offered to make a new batch. The frosties were oh-so-good and thick. I suggest the banana and honey banana frosties! It'll be a nice lunch spot when we're driving through!

On our way through town, we just had to stop in for a bite to eat today. We got a couple of double cheeseburgers and some fries. Food was absolutely delicious. The staff was nice and very helpful. Definitely need to stop here if you're coming through town.

First time to visit this land mark dinner. Food was great! Service was great! Sadly the sitting area to eat is next to the bathrooms & the smell from them was not good😵‍💫 we ate in the truck🤠

Great place to stop on the way to a rock concert. The food was a good as it gets when it’s privately owned and in a small town. Don’t get me wrong I love these places, wish there were more. If you need to feed your face before you listen to your tunes stop here. Turn around if you must but don’t miss out on this place.

I ordered chicken strips, and they were terrible I didn’t even eat them. Waste of money the inside of the chicken strip didn’t look like real meat, looked like a McDonald chicken nugget but tasted worse it’s crazy. After waiting for about an hour for our food, they ended up giving our order to another customer that like me has also been waiting for their food for an hour. Not sure why such a long wait time for 3 customers. My kids were starving so we ended up cancelling our order and leaving once they gave away our order.

Their milkshake comes in two sizes only, medium and large. For six dollars i would expect to get something with ice cream in it but all they use is vanilla soft serve then add syrup for something as simple as chocolate. The kids working here are nice, tho.

Great community,setting, and customer service. The food was just overpriced, and poor quality it wasn't nasty. The meat was thin, and they gave me half a tomato on my deluxe cheese burger. The fries were AMAZING. I just feel for 40 bucks. My patty should have been thicker than deli meat( two burgers, one fry a shake and soda ... so a combo + burger and shake).

I would not recommend! Inside is HOT, Can’t even enjoy your food because you’re sweating so much just sitting there. I ordered a deluxe cheese burger and it was severely overcooked, Thankfully I noticed it before my 2 year old finished the last of it off, But I ate about 90% of the burger before handing it off to my baby. And they hardly tried to make it right, and still made me pay for a drink refill! Be careful of this place!

Driven by for years decided to stop and try while waiting for sons football game. Ordered deluxe combo - lettuce and lg banana shake. Well not even close to deluxe category. Patty looks like it was put under a 4 ton press and sauce is watered down to dripping. Maybe 10 fries in the bag. Bread to thick for the patty style they are serving. No flavor to the meat. Honestly didnt expect much but not worth 17$. And parking was a confusing nightmare. Shake was good though.

Elkins is Wheatland. I love their strawberry shakes. I wish that they answered their phone so we could do pick up orders. Their quality has decreased and their prices have increased tremendously. We used to love coming here but for the price I would at least like for my food to be hot when I get it. The small fry has barely any fries and the burgers are made extremely messy and not in a good way. We will not be back.

This used to be my favorite place as a child, but now its nasty, the bathrooms are cringe worthy and the floors in the kitchen need some heavy duty washing. The whole building inside and out could use a good pressure washing. They touch the top of the straws after they handle money, they dont answer their phone and have hung up on me several times, and they very rarely get our order right . I've given them so many chances because I have so many memories there but I get sick everytime I eat there..

This was a shame. I used to eat here often as a boy growing up and would stop by once a year as an adult before Covid. It used to have a burger stand flavor that is hard to find and now that's gone. They've changed the bread and it taste like a cheap store brand burger bun. The meat patty was razor thin and dry when Elkins used to have the juiciest of meat. They put the produce in between the meat and the bottom bun instead of ontop of the meat which is a trend in burger joints now and it's ridiculous. The fries came out dark brown and tasted like they were cooked in 3 day old dirty oil. $30 for 2 people, I can get such a better quality meal at so many nicer chain sit down restaurants and fast food places. The new ownership has ruined one of California's hidden food gems. 😒

This place has lost its flare. I have literally taken it off my do stop list and placed it on my do not stop list. Long wait and cold food. Burgers do not even fit the bun. Ordered a root beer and got a pepsi cross. The people were pleasant. The quality of the food is gone.

So sad to see this place go down hill. Young kids running the place and if this place was inspected it would be shut down fast. The bathroom was something out of a horror movie. Flies all over the place inside. No gloves or hair nets or hand washing. The lobby was so nasty and dirty Employees on their phone screaming while on the clock. Disappointed to say the least and is being nice. Burgers were basically a burnt hockey puck. The service was terrible. During the call ahead for food and once we arrived. When we left, both workers were sitting outside laughing and the inside was left unattended by workers. Maybe go here for a shake but would pass on food.

45 minutes to receive order. The lack of effort from 2 of 3 workers was ridiculous. The kid with the dreads was the only one trying and clearly looked frustrated. Other customers walked out because they couldn't even get their orders taken. The food was mediocre at best. THIS IS NO LONGER THE GEM IT USED TO BE. I hate bad-mouthing small businesses and even employees because we don't really know what's going on. But I'm just being honest about my last visit. It may be a while before I return.

The only positive thing i can say about this place is the nice attitude the young lady that took our order. The food is way over priced worst (Deluxe) cheese burger i ever had hands down and the fries are stale and full of grease and i do not understand where any one would say fast burger took 27 min for 2 Burgers and a fry plus no designates parking at all and the biggest swarm of flys surrounding you while you wait plus the food you see on the menu and what you get is a joke. I can guarantee I will never go back and I suggest if you're looking at this place keep on looking trust me you would be doing yourself a favor.

I have been going here for over 10+ years since i was a kid, my dad used to boast about how they have the best shakes in town this is still true however the current prices for meals/sides is unfathomable, i am officially done 50$ for three small combo meals as well as the bags being covered in fry grease due to the saturated fry’s, at one point the interior was cleaned now if you look in the windows you will see machines that have not been moved/cleaned behind in years grease traps covered with dust and white grout that is now black

Yes its pumpkin patch time, but low staff ratio is no excuse when the guy who acts like he’s “manager” doesn’t do his fair share of the work. Filling drinks, making frosties is not chipping in! Especially when it’s taking 45-50 mins to make 2 cheeseburgers and 2 fries. And all of it was burnt, inedible. Not worth my time to deal with the “manager” so we left, food and all. Sad, this has been a stop we have made frequently through the years. Not my old Elkins that’s for sure!

Just ordered two cheeseburgers with tomatoes and onions. Did not get the tomatoes or onions we paid extra for. And the garlic fries were really raw, greasy, and cold. My husband asked if it was shredded cheese fries and they said yes. He got cheese from a jar. Would not go back. In-and-out is nearly half the price and far better!

I seriously just got told that I couldn’t place a phone order because they close in 30 minutes. But I could stop by and order for the next 30 minutes. Unbelievable!! I’d like to review the food but the workers obviously didn’t want to work. Better luck next time it’s only 6:30 pm.

I have tried going here twice in a year's time. Both times they claimed to only have one fryer that worked meaning they could only make french fries and hamburgers. I have to assume this is mere laziness on the part of the teenage employees as this means they only have to make 20 percent of their menu. Will not ever be coming here again and they clearly do not want my business.

Why aren’t your super burritos bigger , the way they’re supposed to be, not a measly tiny snack? When you think of super burrito you’re thinking of a two hand holder with all the fixings like lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce etc. We are very disappointed. We live in this town and been coming here for years, but not anymore. We had to wait thirty minutes for our food and a tiny snack of a burrito doesn’t even taste good and the malts we ordered weren’t even malts they were more like a thick helping of milk. This place used to be really good if you wanted old time fast food, familiar faces and a good time. It was always talked about and saying how it’s the place to stop if ever you go through Wheatland. Now with the new owners, good luck getting hot food, then finding your food because of it’s small portions and the taste isn’t much to speak of either. Don’t want to forget the high prices too, especially when you don’t even get the amount for what you pay. This place has gone way down hill from what it used to be. Not to mention the staff, young kids look like they were just pulled of the streets, no gloves, no hair nets, touching their hair and going back to work without washing their hands, and the speed at which they work, if you call what they do to be work, is slow and their customer service sucks. First time coming here and we were super excited since it’s local and close to us. Menu looked great. We ordered our food while waiting inside for our food we watched others not get there food. We were right next to the kitchen there didn’t seem to be any organization to anything products left out, frozen food dumped in fryer and then they just left the remaining out on the wire rack. Milk sitting out which I assume they use to make there milkshakes. No one wearing gloves or hair nets we watched one guy run his hands through his hair then proceed to touch our food. We were there 30-40 min before we got our food and honestly we dumped It because of how we saw good being handled. We won’t be coming back. If we wouldn’t have been waiting inside we never would have seen or heard what was going on. So glad we saved our stomaches for something else.

Every time I come they are out of stuff, closing early or just don’t feel like cooking. Foods good but not worth the horrible customer service. Update: food was disgusting and burgers were burnt to hell.

We walked in to wait 15 minutes to order with no one in front of us. We finally placed our order and they lost our food ticket while we waited for 45 min amd watched a dozen more orders go put the door before us. No discount was added. No sorry for the inconvenience. Just here's your food... won't be making that stop again while driving through that city.

I recently moved here. I love chocolate milk shakes and was intrigued by there claim to have the best milk shakes in town and that may be true because no one else offers milk shakes. So I go in. 3 ladies sitting at a table and one standing at the counter. All of them had already ordered. It was about 2 or 3 minutes later that another guy comes out and asked if I ordered. I responder no so he took my order. 1 large chocolate shake please. He scribbled some thing on a small note pad. He went back into the kitchen area and I never saw him again. Meanwhile there are 2 young ladies at a small window and the worker appeared to be taking an order from them. The 3 ladies at the table were served and the lady standing there was served and left. So I take her position took get a better look at the kitchen. I watched the ladies at the window get served and I became furious. A worker the approached the front counter and asked if I was ready to order. I took a deep breath, then let it out. I told him I have already ordered 10 minutes ago. He asked me what I ordered, I told him. He went back to the kitchen area and less than a minute returned with a large chocolate shake in his hand. I've never been there before and I'll never return due to there lack of good customer service and honestly.... the shake was average at best.

Do not order a burrito or super burrito from this place. After waiting for 40min for the stuff I ordered I said hey, I’ve been waiting for my burrito and shake. The guy goes into a little bucket where they keep the receipts and they had just passed right over it. Guy says sorry for the inconvenience. Will make it right now. They made two burritos and a large Coke (not my order). Goes in the back again makes the super burrito and shake. I opened the container that has my burrito in it and it’s not what you think a super burrito would be. They deep fry a El Monterey frozen burrito throw some grilled cheese on top and put shredded lettuce in the container and say here it is. The “chef” told me that they are not a burrito spot just a burger spot…… maybe this place should just stick to the burgers because what I got was not a super burrito. If I wanted a El Monterey burrito, I would’ve waited till I got home from work.

I am not giving any stars this place is the worst place took our kids there for ice cream and go the worst ice cream sundae and strawberries shakes dipped cone no they have a melted dipped cone in a cup I asked if they could give me a ice cone instead cause of the Sunday he was so rude and did not do anything never will we go here again
