This was an interesting thing... you start by finding a table. You have choices between bar seating, outdoor patio or inside booths and tables. Then you head over to grab menus and order at the kitchen window. You are given a table buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. The bar is hopping and super busy. So be patient for your turn to place a bar order. There were two bartenders, serving about 40-50 bar folk, as well as the additional walk up diners. It was impressive to watch the bar staff move quickly and efficiently. The food was a little bit of a wait, as it seems to be a one man show in the kitchen. But boy was it worth it. It was delicious! The french dip was very tasty and there was almost too much meat in the club. I highly recommend the food. Be patient, it's worth it. I only wish that they had a bit more staff. Seriously, two bar tenders, one cook and one bus person. Apart from that, the atmosphere was fun and people were super friendly. This was a memorable meal.

This is the kind of local place that you're looking for. They have unbelievable prices on beer. It's a lot of fun just to hang out and talk to the folks at the bar. Everyone here seems to be from somewhere else, and they're down here for the winter.

Stopped by Bernie's for a drink and a bite to eat. Oh boy were we were surprised! We got there around 2:00 for happy hour and it was starting to get busy. The place filled up with locals by 3 and we checked out the menu.. Wow a fried Bologna sandwich served on Texas toast with potato salad and bread and butter pickles Yummy. $7.75 well worth the money. We also tried the Air fried egg rolls and that came with soy sauce and red chili sauce. These were good also. When the bill came the draft Bud light were $1 each and the mixed drinks were $2 each un happy hour. Five stars ***** The only down that I have personally is that you can smoke in the bars and everyone inside was smoking.

This place is super chill & fun. Its got great music & a great vibe. We went there on a Sunday & a Monday. On Sunday they had a pretty awesome band called Tumble Dry Low. They sang everything from country to Rolling Stones. The singer who sang country definitely sounded like he could already be a Texas Red Dirt Rd country singer. The guy who sang the stones was a dead ringer for a sound alike!! Phenomenal!! All had multiple talents as far as playing an instrument & singing. The bar staff was nice enough. The beer prices were the most inexpensive on the strip. We ordered a double cheeseburger & egg rolls from the kitchen. Just be prepared with cash as you get a discount for paying with cash. Our burger was massive & the egg rolls were so freaking good!! Very good food. The menu mainly consists of light fare (think soups like clam chowder & sammies & burgers) and honestly after a day in the hot sun you may only want a sammie. Alot of locals were here so that should tell you something 👌

Dove bar with ambiance. Free pool on Tuesdays. Fun poker in the afternoon. Seems fun

Bernie's is a local favorite. I didnt rate the food, but they do serve food. Ive just never eaten there. The place is big. During the day the bar is full of locals. With $3 happy hour beers until like 7pm i think. Dont quote me. Haha... Its one of Port A's local dive bars. Fyi... its smoky since they allow people to smoke. Doesn't really bother me. During the summer on either Friday or Saturday nights they have a DJ if you're into that. Its usually busy with young adults, but it is still fun. They literally have a Bernie sitting on a lifeguard chair. I recommend going at least once if you come to Port A. They have 3-4 pool tables and dart boards as well.

Cheap drinks, good food... bartender gives zero fux. 🤣 If you're in need of a kind word and a smiling face behind the bar, do NOT come here. But if you're in need of a draft beer for a dollar and an amazing sandwich (the TABC is huge and delicious), then swing on by! But get here before 7, because that's when happy hour ends. Yes, happy "hour" is every day from open until 7pm. The bartender is so angry that it's comical. Free entertainment while you eat and drink!

Nice atmosphere, you have to go to bar to order food and drinks. Tables outside for you to eat at. If you sit outside, you can most likely hear the music from the bar next door. Today, the music was pretty good.

We have eaten at Bernie's multiple times. Today was very busy, we understand. After an extremely long time (40 -45 minutes), I went to check on our meal. I was informed by the individual cooking; it would be ready when it was ready. We purchased the special 2 Bacon cheese burgers and a pitcher of beer. Guess the bacon was optional. Husband got mayo on his. Mine was dry. No bacon, (which we paid for) no mayo. Husband offered to go get me some mayo but after the attitude of the cook, no thank you. We will never eat there again. Expect to be short changed on your order and attitude when busy.

We just moved to the area and went here a couple days ago. No one acknowledged us after walking around for about 10 minutes. Seems to be a locals only kind of place. It felt uninviting to 1st timers. No big deal. There are plenty of other places to spend money at on the island.
