Great spot near the yacht club and mustang island airport. Amazing seafood and sushi. Great, well groomed staff. The hostess was accommodating and neatly attractive. We went for the crab claw appetizer as well as the peal and eat shrimp. A bit on the pricey side but well worth the money. I would highly recommend as a special end cap to your week or as a date nite. MAKE A RESERVATION! ENJOY!
This is the best restaurant on the island. I ordered the halibut and had bites of the snapper and the fried oyster sliders. All were 10/10. - Sean Daniels Owner A Royal Flush Mobile Restroom Rentals
The Phoenix serves up some excellent, fine dining style seafood in a nice atmosphere with excellent service. The crab cake, the sheepshead, and the tuna stack are all quite amazing as is the ginger carrot cake.
The view is stunning, the staff is outstanding and the food is amazing. Sit on the patio and watch the sunset while you sip on a wonderful cocktail and eat delicious food. It doesn't get any better in Port A! I've been here numerous times and the experience just keeps getting better! Everything I've ordered had been spectacular. Don't miss out on this wonderful hometown favorite.
You should definitely make a reservation if you plan to go during a busy time. The food is amazing, absolutely worth the money. The view of the bay is stunning and the breeze makes it comfortable even in Texas July heat. I really hope to come back again next year. Do yourself a favor and save room for desert.
The atmosphere, the food and the service is absolutely wonderful. We live in a big metroplex area where good restaurants are always available. But in Port Aransas this is a true gem. Always ask for Emily she is very knowledga and gives the upmost service we have ever had. We go at least once a week due to Emily and of course the great food!
Their red snapper was super scrumptious and the ahi tuna was stupefyingly good. Our server, as well as other staff were quite attentive. Only weird thing was they are unable to spilt table checks. Each restaurant has their set-up. Their chocolate cake is pretty awesome!
Superb fine dining experience. Highly recommend for any special occasion. Or a special treat. Our group had quail, snapper prepared two ways, and shrimp. We agreed it was one of the top 5 meals we had ever had. And the cocktails and wine selection was excellent as well.
My wife and I enjoyed dinner here with my parents and my mother-in-law. It was a wonderful meal and time with family. We always enjoy coming to The Phoenix when we come to town. Thank you, Thom, for your great table service! Out of the park details to note: beautful firecracker shrimp app, perfectly cooked sirloin and seared scallops, friendly teamwork amongst staff.
Food and service were by far the best I have had in Port A definitely high end cuisine !!!!
Great atmosphere! Food is phenomenal! Presentation & flavor never disappoints! Great wine selection & a full bar. The staff is always pleasant, tentative & very friendly! Fine dining, yet feel’s casual! I love this place!
Just WOW!!! My wife and I invited our parents for dinner at The Phoenix in Port A last Saturday. The restaurant has perfect ambience and the staff and service are impeccable. And the food...WOW! Delicious and beautiful presentation. We had dumplings for appetizers that were perfectly prepared. I had the raw tuna on chips (superb) and the rest of the table had the daily fish specials. Everything was exceptional and we were never without staff attendance. If there is a 5-star restaurant in Port A, The Phoenix is it. A must try if u are in Port A!!!!
I wish we had discovered the Phoenix on the first night of our vacation in Port A, instead of the last night. I’m willing to bet that the Phoenix has the best menu and finest food within 100+ miles. We had a scrumptious shrimp-topped fried tomato appetizer. Husband enjoyed a gorgeous steak, and I had the triple tail fish with a coconut and pistachio sauce that was very possibly the best fish I’ve ever eaten. The menu has a slight Japanese flair which adds some amazing new flavors to the menu. The sake was incredible while others bragged on the Phoenix Martini. The atmosphere indoors is not exactly romantic. Very utilitarian and due to its small size, it can get noisy, so don’t be heading there for a quiet candlelit expensive dinner date. The outside eating is lovely however! Perhaps the only thing that was disappointing was dessert. Coconut cream pie was just a little above average, not sweet enough in our opinion. The lemon blueberry creme brûlée was delicious, but served in a 1/3 cup size metal tin that looked a little like what you might buy in a set of 6 at Costco. Don’t get me wrong…it was very good! Just didn’t compete with our gorgeously plated food earlier in the meal, nor did it look very appetizing sitting there all cold and naked on a white plate! It didn’t keep me from devouring it however, and wishing it was a little bigger! Service was friendly and fast! We will be back many more times! We made a reservation and I’m glad we did. By the time we left at 7pm on a Thursday night, the restaurant was virtually full.
We very much enjoyed our visit and dinner. Their pricing matches the quality of their food! I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Port Aransas.
This is by far the best restaurant in town. Chef is amazing and you need to make reservations.
The food and atmosphere were so great. My waiter Emily was so wonderful. The food was awesome. The view out here on the patio is breathtaking. I am so glad that I was able to come to such a nice and quaint place with such great food. Thanks for having me.
This is a beautiful gem in Port Aransas. The food was so yummy. Pictures include the lamb special and the shrimp and quail appetizers. It's a breezy outdoor patio that is dog friendly and has a beautiful sunset. I recommend that you make a reservation this place can get busy later in the day. They can only do party's of 6 and under but the atmosphere is worth it and that definitely helps keep this place as spaced and the experience as personal as possible. The staff was amazing, Tom gave great recommendations on how to get the special cooked ( medium rare) oh my goodness it fell off the bone and he had us laughing and enjoying our vacation all the more after a day on the water. I will 100% be back. I also loved that a lot of locals were walking in as we were leaving and they knew our server by name. This makes me feel like this is a every time experience. Can't wait to try the creme brulee and the tuna martini next time ( tables near us recommend or ordered and you could hear there love) could not say more good this about this place.
One of the best meals I've ever had! The sushi was so fresh it melted in my mouth with flavors and textures that were incredible! The Sushi is handmade by the owner herself and I must say she is a Goddess! Great atmosphere as well! Took dessert to go for the beach! #AMAZING
Best seafood in the area bar none. The fried halibut was cooked perfectly and the house made tartar sauce is amazing. My wife’s red snapper was absolutely delicious and the blue crab claws appetizer was the perfect start to a scrumptious meal. Highly recommended.
This place was so good the waiter was super nice and the food was the best thing I have ever tried if I could i would go the every day they also have pretty view and some music fitting to the atmosphere and it’s super chill at night
Awesome experience here. Great dining, great food and great service. Would definitely come back again. My shrimp were perfect and the crabcakes were very good too. Its a small venue so I would definitely recommend getting a reservation when it is out of season but it is definitely worth it to check it out if you have a chance!

Outstanding; the oyster sliders, truffle fries, and scallops were phenomenal. Can’t wait to visit again upon my next return to Port A!
My wife and I dined there last night, 1/7/2025 and were more than pleased. We were shocked at the quality of the food, the fantastic service. The atmosphere was light and inviting. The staff was amazing. The crab cakes were great with substantial crab and little if any filler. The quail were to die for. The old fashioned was very tasty as well. I will recommend to anyone going to Port A!!!!! John & Laurie L
Wow wow wow-- this is the best place ive ever eaten hands down. If you want fresh seafood, prepared right, and you actually want to get what you pay for as opposed to all of the other touristy high priced stuff on the island-- this is absolutely the place to go. Sat down saw a few families with kids eating, so im not sure what the other reviews are talking about, maybe they just had big parties and no reservations-- ANYWAYS Best crab cakes ive ever had, best coconut cream pie, and the sushi is amazing as well. This has been the highlight of my beach trip along with my friends-- 10/10 dont miss this. I will definitely be back 💕
Unbelievable service Kim was a 5 start plus herself service personnel very caring to make sure all 100 percent satisfied highly recommend you asking for her and the cuisine was as always remarkable when in Port A definitely a go to and really worth the drive or flight from wherever a MUST restaurant to enjoy
Gorgeous location and super cozy atmosphere. Server was super nice. Food was absolutely fantastic and refreshing. I had the tuna stack. Highly recommend. Sauce on it is a little spicy but I love that. Definitely going to come back.
We had a perfect evening and a delicious meal, surrounded by the beauty of the coast. The water was gently lapping at the boat docks, a warm breeze carried the crisply clean smell of the nearby ocean. My husband’s martini was devine and ice cold. My glass of red wine was just that I was in the mood for! We shared a large crab cake as appetizer and it had huge chunks of tender crab, but we both thought the crab cake was dry. We shared a redfish entree and it was perfectly cooked and the risotto with spinach was the best! Note. We tried The Phoenix because we had met a group of people at The Tortuga restaurant , boisterous and friendly. Then we were told a lady had paid for our drinks! The Tortuga bartender Roy told us they were great people, including the owner of the Phoenix who had generously paid for our drinks! We will remember this experience very fondly.
The food was sublime! I had the Thai curry scallops. The best meal I have had in a long time! Great service and a cute little space with a beautiful view from the patio.

Eating outside is lovely, but inside not so much. I’ve eaten here at least 4 times and love the food and overall atmosphere but inside it is a tiny space so when diners are loud they are VERY loud, so much so that having your own conversation is next to impossible. One loud table causes others to raise their voices too. I think that lowering the lights and putting small lamps on the tables would help lower the volume. Especially when the weather isn’t conducive to being outside. If they could take care of this problem then I would give it a 5 star plus review!
We have been fans of the Phoenix in Port A for years. A recent visit reinforced what we thought when they were at their original (small location) across from Venetian Hot Plate - good quality seafood that is prepared with care for an excellent outcome - delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive, location (also small but now with outdoor seating) has wonderful sunset views. Highly recommend.
We had a nice dinner here with 10 people. The appetizers and entrees were good. They have a good choice of wines with multiple price points. The service was good as also. Deserts were very good. The bill was expensive, but we had 4 bottles of expensive wine with our meal plus some mixed drinks. It was a good experience and we will go back soon!
Not sure why this shows up as a sushi restaurant as there was no sushi on the menu. I would place it more inline with being a seafood restaurant. Good food but almost felt overpriced for what it was. We were a group of six so we ordered three entrees and some appetizers and shared which worked well.
We had reservations for 6:30 and when we went inside we found it too loud inside for us to enjoy our dinner and it was also very cold inside. They were kind enough to re-seat us outside and set up two heaters to try to keep us ram on a very windy night. Our server Erik took excellent care of us going the extra mile at every turn. Pass on the beef skewers, they were very chewy. The tuna entree was top notch as was the haddock special with a lemon crème sauce, rice and steamed vegetables. We also loved the ginger cake with cream cheese frosting, yum! It is pricey to dine here.
I seldom give 5-star reviews. This is close. The restaurant is very cozy and the staff makes it a pleasure being there. The food is creative and tasty. They have a good bar, with an entertaining bartender. They unfortunately did not have the flounder that I wanted to try, but the grouper was very good. Definitely worth a visit.
My son loved the pasta with butter and parmesan cheese off the kids menu. I had sushi and it was pretty good. Be prepared to wait, this place is popular. They take your phone number and text you when your table is ready. We only had to wait about 15 minutes.

Well let me start with the food is normal pretty good. We made reservations for 8 , started raining unexpected the restaurant went into scramble mode trying to seat the people from outside inside once they had managed to do that we were a Party of Three there was three chairs at the bar the bartender said we could sit down there the hostess and the server quickly shunt her and told us that those seats were for somebody else as time went on and it was now 8:30 and we were still not sat the server tried to pretend like he didn't even work at the restaurant which was funny because we had him the night before just seems like he was too busy trying to pick up a date after he'd let me know it'd be another 10 to 15 minute wait I decided that we would no longer be eating at that establishment we drove down the road Tortugas got us right in

We were met with nothing but attitude and unacceptable customer service. Hostess greeted us with we're full inside you can sit outside. I suggested the 2 open sitting spots at the bar she hesitated but eventually gave us the ok to sit there. As we're waiting the bartender eventually turns her attention to us doesn't even say hello and asks what do y'all want to drink? We responded saying two beers please and got served two warm beers. When we informed her of this her response was do you want a glass with ice? I had her take it back and ordered a mix drink instead. Her response was the Parton bottle hasn't been opened do you want another tequila? Unbelievable! Our food arrived and it was absolutely delicious. To the owner and/or management your bartender and hostess needs to go or at the least be trained on how to provide great customer service. They are the only reason we will NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Family’s be warned!! So I had a really bad experience here…we came in as 4 adults and 4 kids and they told us there was an hour wait even though tables were open everywhere. We ended up waiting for the hour…no one else showed up to the restaurant during this time had to wait. After the hour we sat ourselves (after hostess said we could) and we sat for 10 minutes and got completely ignored. At this point we asked the hostess what was going on and she ended up ultimately saying they don’t want to serve kids at this establishment and we were being impatient. We politely waited for over an hour and managed our 4 children appropriately during the wait. I felt very hurt by the hostess and the situation and ultimately went home without being able to feed my kids…the food looked great, but I wish the restaurant would’ve been polite upfront and tell us flat out we wouldn’t of been able to eat here…
They have not had sushi on the menu in 4 years. We tried to have a seat at the bar which had 6 seats open. We were told to wait outside for 15 minutes.
We sat there for 2 hours and they never even awknowledged us…. But but told us we would be a help at 8:30 when we asked past 830 for help they berated us and treated us like we were complete nuances. We all have children under five years old a total of four the African-American woman working at the front was very violent and tried to call the cops on us because we disagreed with her. This place is so horrible it ruined our vacation. Please don’t waste your time and ever go here .
Very bad service. Just wanted to sit at the bar and have some drinks. When we asked the bartender to help us he said you have to ask the hostess. The hostess said we can not sit more than two people at the bar at one time Now we are at KCs oyster bar .
We were in town for the Marlin Classic with our son and made reservations. The boys finished early so we got dressed up and went early to sit at the bar and wait until our reservation. The hostess was so extremely rude and acted as if she was so extremely overwhelmed. There were 4 people at the bar and a handful inside. Cancelled our reservation immediately and moved on. Maybe you can make it home early now because we won’t spend our money at an establishment where the first person to greet us was as rude as she was
