My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at Roosevelt's yesterday evening! I placed our reservations a week in advance and asked if the chef would consider adding Chilean Sea Bass to the evening specials as it is my husband's favorite. You should have seen the big grin on my husband's face when our server, Penny, listed off the specials! The Sea Bass was amazing and my Spicy Seafood Medley was wonderful. Hube thank you to the chef on our wonderful meals. Penny, our server, was an absolute pleasure and made sure our dining experience was excellent. Thank you Roosevelt's, we will be back!

What a wonderful experience! We arrived a little early and they were able to seat us right away. Our waiter was excellent. The oysters Rockefeller were some of the best we have ever had. Then steak and lobster all of which were cooked to our liking with some potatoes and asparagus. The only thing to nit pic at would be the asparagus ends could have been cut shorter. The key lime pie for dessert was also excellent. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but if you are going to spend money it should be very good and this meal was better than that. We will be back

Had an amazing experience here, glad to have made reservations when arriving. Had a family friend help us with picking food since she's eaten here a lot. The food was amazing the Roosevelt's Signature Bread was amazing as the balsamic vinegar isn't too overpowering, the portions were very filling, and everything also tasted amazing the Lobster Bisque did leave some desire. Other than that, be sure to dress nicely here! They have a sign that says dress code enforced so no going there after the beach in sandy swimwear and sandals. They do have an outside area where live music plays but the night I went the bar was serving as some kinda reception area for a wedding.

This place has some amazing food and a casual yet upscale feel about it. We ate a variety of their options, been the 4 of us that went, and everything was as close to perfection as possible, as far as how the seafood and steak was cooked and how it all tasted. I did ask for some of their house made Cesar dressing, as I opted for the soup instead of a salad with my meal, and the Cesar dressing was not my favorite for sure (it lacked that typical creamy Cesar kick in it), but the saffron sauce I had with my shrimp and scallops was on point. Also recommend dessert and coffee, the creme brulee and the chocolate mousse cake were both very delicious and the bailey's coffee topped it off perfectly.

The first 5 star I've found in Port A. It's fine dining with a business casual dress attitude (not pretentious, but management is keeping an eye on every detail). We were looking for a good steak and thanks to google, we found the Roosevelt. It's situated behind the hotel and there's a nice indoor/outdoor bar on property. This really would be a great place for a wedding. Anyway, the pictures are 100% accurate and the restaurant is very comfortable and relaxing. I think the description says intimate and my wife seemed to agree. We highly recommend the scallops appetizer, the filet, the raw oysters (meatiest ive had in years) and creme brulee. Note: the signature potatoes are an acquired taste. My wife didn't like the cheese they used, but I loved it and how the bottom was burned (layers of potato and cheese, cooked as a casserole). Again, 5 star experience all around. Thanks Roosevelt!

This place is really unique and the food is excellent. If you're in Port A and want a nice dining experience, this is the place. We had crab cakes and split the special which was a Ribeye and Shrimp. The steak was thin cut, which is not my thing, but the flavor was good. It came with Linguine which was off the charts good. I noticed it was on others' plates as well so perhaps it's their thing. In any event, I could eat a whole plate of that stuff. We grabbed some chocolate cake and key lime pie to go. The deserts are excellent, better than the entrees, in fact. The key lime was different in that it wasn't an actual pie, it was more of a couple scoops plated on some crust with toppings. Overall this is the best place to eat in Port A I have ever been to.

We had the best experience for our anniversary! Our server went above and beyond to make our experience special with amazing service and a card signed by the staff. The food was exquisite. The dessert was phenomenal. Chef Chris took time to greet each guest which enhanced our entire visit. We are so excited to return to try more menu items!

If there were an option for more stars it would also receive that many. The oysters were the best I’ve ever had. So was the halibut fish, and my wife’s meal was equally satisfying. This is not a chain, nothing here is just ‘regular’. It’s all selected and curated for a real experience. Roosevelt’s is a special place to visit. I can’t stress how damn good the food is here. Come hungry and please try the oysters. The flavors going on there will make you want to order an entire tray. The team is really genuine and friendly. Very easy to call and get a reservation and our server was impeccable and made it look easy. But he got to know ppl quickly and helped me choose a great wine. Please eat here, it’s without regrets.

Yes it is expensive, but it is without a doubt one of the best restaurants on the island. The food is carefully thought out, and we'll executed. Every bite was high-quality ingredients and perfect preparation. The server was very good. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our table. I would highly recommend this experience and plan on visiting here again on my next trip.

What a fabulous restaurant with the most amazing staff. I last ate here in 2017; the testament to the management and leadership of this organization is clear: they know how to attract and retain the right people. The wine selection is exceptional and the food was, simply put [with what I think is an apt metaphor], a veritable symphony on my palate. No, it was a ballet. Ugh. I don't know. Just. consider this recommendation with the most alluring and desirable imagery you can conjure up and it will be well, well worth your time to give these fine folks a shot at a fabulous dinner experience. Bravo to all involved!

Great atmosphere! We ate appetizers in the bar. Dining room is really nice but we liked the open feel of the bar. Lots of great decor and comfortable seating inside as well as lovely outdoor tables. Had the spinach salad, bacon wrapped tenderloin (risotto was great! Another reviewer said it wasn't...), crab cakes, and key lime parfait for dessert. This was plenty for two. Yes, it's expensive but the overall experience is worth it.

Our first time dining here and it did not disappoint! We were wanting a more intimate, nicer dinner in Port Aransas and this was perfect. We made reservations online on their website for a Sat night. We were seated immediately when we arrived. I had the lemon drop martini (refreshing and delicious) and my husband had wine. We ordered Roosevelt's Trio as an appetizer which has their signature coconut shrimp, a crabcake, and oysters Rockefeller. My favorite from this selection was their coconut shrimp - SO good. My husband had the spicy seafood medley pasta which was really good but REALLY spicy. I had the parmesan crusted flounder over linguini and it was very rich, filling, and delicious. We were super full but we couldn't pass up on their key lime pie, which is served in a cocktail type glass. The perfect ending to a great meal. Just what we were looking for. The setting is relaxed and cozy. Prices are higher but as expected. Service was great. We'll be back!

Five members of our family dined at the restaurant last Sunday evening (May 25th). Two of us had the firecracker tenderloin medallions stuffed with peppers and cheese. One the flounder and others the coconut shrimp. Food was fantastic. Tommie, our waiter, was the best. His knowledge of the menu and wine list was amazing. The chocolate cake a La mode was a perfect finale to a great dining experience. Would highly recommend this incredible restaurant.

I wish we had stopped to take pictures but we’re so eager to dive in to each course so no pics. The service here even in off season was exceptional. Kudos to the waiter and manager who kept pace with the large tables and our small party of two. In Port Aransas there are a so many fried seafood restaurants so was refreshing to find a restaurant that was anything but that. Our foos was prepared with care and the taste was amazing.. we had the bread appetizer and shared a wedge salad. For entrees we had the scallops and shrimp with mushroom risotto and the redfish with ricotta raviolis. OMG you have to go try these!

This place has an Old "Key West" kinda vibe; both the restaurant and the bar. The food is very good, as you would expect for the price. Our waiter was exceptional. We weren't rushed and each serve was well spaced. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

I really enjoyed the culinary experience here overall, but two distinct things kept it from being a 5-star evening. I started with the scallops in saffron sauce, which were absolutely wonderful and exactly what I was hoping for. My first drink, the Roosevelt’s Royal, was also delicious. For my main course, I ordered the steak special: tenderloin with Oscar topping and lemon sauce, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The seasoning and flavors were spot on, and the Pinot Noir I paired with it complemented the dish beautifully. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked. I ordered medium rare, but it came out more medium to medium-well. The flavor helped make up for it, but it was still a distracting mistake, especially given the quality of everything else. To finish, I ordered the key lime pie because I was at the coast and could not resist. The presentation was great, but the topping was clearly not real whipped cream. It was a hydrogenated substitute, which threw off the balance of the dessert. Service throughout the night was excellent, though I was almost not seated because my sweater vest showed a bit of midriff, so keep in mind the strict dress policy. The manager initially suggested I eat at the adjoining bar, but then followed me out and invited me back in. I appreciated that gesture, and my server took great care of me once I was seated. Overall, it was a memorable evening with wonderful flavors, and while the overcooked steak and the dessert kept it at four stars, I look forward to coming back.

We dined at Roosevelt's this evening, our last night of an extended stay in Port A for Thanksgiving... I must admit I'm struggling with the star rating here, as some things were great, and others not so great. I decided on the 4-star rating because many of the deficiencies were in the side dishes, not main courses, and Bar 1886 was an awesome end to the evening... Out of the gate we decided to forego cocktails and get to vino ... a bottle of Honig Sauvignon Blanc was brought and served, temperature perfect ... very reasonably priced in this day and age! We initially paired that with the "Cheesy Garlic Shrimp" appetizer and the special of the day clam chowder. The chowder was OK, pretty salty for our palates. On the other hand, the cheesy shrimp dish was on point... delicious! Served with toasted bread, we were thinking it may have been better with tortilla chips! In any event, the cheesy shrimp was OMG good... order that! It was huge, so we only finished about one-half! Our entrees included the seared scallops and shrimp, and the chicken shrimp "Invotini." Both entrees were very good, the shrimp, scallops and chicken were cooked perfectly... YUM! The sides (as noted above) were a bit off... the scalloped potatoes were so heavy on the thyme as to be inedible. The mushroom risotto was salty (common theme), and the asparagus side was undercooked. So, entrees 5-star, sides 3-star. After dinner we adjourned to the 1886 Bar, which is part of the restaurant. We maybe should have started and finished the evening there? A way cool bar, great vibe, served great appetizers and awesome cocktails. Mostly locals there, great conversations about Port A, and what's good and bad! If we had started and finished there, the score may have been 5-star. A great couple of cocktails and a "key limon pie" martini finished the evening. Drinks were good, the dessert was OTC (off the charts)! Darn good! Highly recommend Roosevelt's, but consider stopping in (and maybe eating at) Bar 1886 ... good evening, good folks, good times!

My wife and I went here for our anniversary on June 25, 2025. There aren't many fine dining options in the coastal bend and we had heard good things about this place. Most of the food that we tried was good, but nothing was great. The exception was the seared ahi tuna, which was just plain bad. They overcooked it, which made it chewy instead of smooth and buttery. I regret not sending it back. We recently had ahi tuna at nearby Grumbles that was significantly better for about a third of the price. Based on the price point, the overall quality of the food was disappointing. On a positive note, the service was very good and the atmosphere was charming. Another couple of things to be aware of. If you use a credit card or debit card to pay the bill, the restaurant passes along the processing fee to the customer in the form of a 4% service fee. I'm not a fan of this practice in general, but considering that processing fees range from 1.5% to 3.5%, this seems excessive. Also, the suggested tip at the bottom of the bill is based on the total (taxes and fees included), rather than the subtotal (the cost of food and drinks before taxes and fees). Last time I checked, tax is not a service.

The service and presentation was great! Our server was super helpful and nice all night. The appetizers were delicious. However, each entree dish was unfortunately quite over cooked and almost too salty to eat. I had the duck, my father ordered the pork chop, and we had two fillets. All were very overcooked. My duck was at times SO salty I could hardly eat it. My fathers cream of spinach was too salty to eat. I don’t leave reviews often, but I felt this needed to be brought to the restaurant’s attention, especially for the “fine dining” experience they regard themselves for and the prices.

First, the food was great. The spicy seafood medley pasta was great. Service was not up to the $100+ per person price. Show up 5 minutes prior to reservation and we are told to go to the bar or wait outside and someone would get us. Nobody came for us. We got in and drinks went dry and we're seated right at the server station entrance without asking us if it was ok....there were empty tables available. Desserts were so so.

What a disappointment. We had a reservation for 5:30 on Friday night and we were promptly seated. The atmosphere is nice but the noise level went up significantly as more people were seated. I was expecting to see some references to FDR eating there but didn't see any. The waiter (Tommy) was prompt but when we started to order our main course he had to check with the kitchen and he came back and told that they were out of scallops (at 6:00 and they opened at 5:00). Four dishes on the menu immediately became unavailable. The French onion soup was very good but was quite peppery Our entrees were okay but nothing special. The ravioli was a little to al dente for my taste. The appetizers and entrees are definitely over priced for what you get. I ordered the 20 year Port but the waiter came back and indicated that they were out of it. He offered a 10 year Port. My partner's Irish Coffee came without whipped cream but it was nice. We were expecting more.

Where do I begin? Other than the venue is interesting and the vintage of the location is inspiring, this was one of the worst dining experiences in our lives. We booked our reservations early as we were out for our 34th anniversary. Once we arrived they seated us towards the back, in what we first thought "may" be a quiet and romantic corner. This soon became a nightmare. The table adjacent us, filled with Ivy League big mouths, were rudely loud and obnoxious the whole time we were there. Overtly loud and fake belly laughing and over talking everyone else in the dining room. We could barely hear each other at our table. No one from the staff asked them to tone it down even though the whole restaurant was affected. Now to the meal. Thankfully they had one of our favorite wines on their menu, this was the only redeeming part of our evening. We ordered appetizers consisting of Coconut shrimp ($26.00) and "Jumbo" sea scallops ($34.00). Our main courses were Chicken and Shrimp Involtini ($42.00) and Seared scallops and shrimp ($54.00). The coconut shrimp were overcooked and dry, the dip they came with was slightly redeeming. The "Jumbo" sea scallops were lightly bigger than a bay scallop, most definitely not Jumbo and the sauce they came with was tasteless and non-complimentary. Putting these 3 scallops in this huge plate was even a bigger embarrassment. For the chicken dish, the chicken was OK, the asparagus was boring and the accompanying "bread square" was tough and overcooked. The seared scallop and shrimp dish came with a huge helping of Fettucini, which was glued together with far too much cheese, tasteless alfredo and was not hot, warm at very best. The scallops and shrimp were cooked OK, but very little taste. Regarding the position of our table and in addition to being seated next to overtly rude and obnoxious diners, the door next to us is the door to the washrooms, which are located outside. During our seating time we were constantly disturbed by people coming and going along with the fact that the door closer is not a commercial grade unit and the door closed each time with a very loud bang. And then the proverbial icing on the cake, when we came time to pay our bill, the receipt shows that we need to pay a $9.42 fee to use our credit card. This whole experience, for two people, for $264.89, before tip? We eat all over the continent at fine dining establishments and understand quality food, service, ambiance and delivery along with value for your hard earned dollars. You aren't meeting the bar you have already set too high. Sidebar, our server was excellent, however we couldn't see fit to tip our usual generous amount, based upon the fails on the meal and environment.

To consider this restaurant a fine dining experience is embarrassing. If you are someone who doesn’t know how to cook or has never been to a restaurant then I could understand thinking that it’s great. The place is nice and cozy inside and the server was friendly. We were there for the $95/ person NYE menu with a table of 6. With 6 people we tried every option on the menu. The shrimp bisque and black eyed pea soup were great and made us think the rest of the meal would be too. The biggest offense was definitely bagged frozen vegetables and what looked like a chewed up and spit out thin sliced prime rib. 0/10 on presentation. The Cornish hen entree did not come out hot. The sea bass was fine but nothing special. The entire menu seemed to lack any identity on what flavors pair well together. And finally, the desserts tasted like something you’d buy off a Walmart bakery clearance rack. It would have been nice to skip a dessert and have a salad offering at the beginning. But whoever prepared this menu clearly doesn’t eat vegetables due to the abomination and disfigurement of the alleged French style green beans. We will never be back to this restaurant considering the many other delightful culinary experience options on the island. Save your money and go to Tortugas and The Pheonix for perfectly prepared, balanced, thoughtful and flavorful meals.

We were really glad to have been able to make it here for our last night in town after reading the reviews and the menu. Arrived for our reservation and were sat at a table under a vent that was leaking all over- onto our table, into our drinking water and all over my boyfriend. The server said she would move us which was great then reported back that she could not. Our appetizer was great, and so was the lamb. The fish special was so dry- so I asked for sauce to make it palatable. Which I was charged an additional price for. To me, if the food isn't good, the sauce it required to make it edible should have been on the house. Really I should have sent my whole meal back, but I don't like doing that. The server described the dessert that we ordered to go and then reported back that it was no longer available. Honestly one disappointment after another for a place that we had such high expectations of. Clearly our patronage did not matter to this restaurant as no one said a word, or offered an apology for the leaking water we sat under, the dry food or unavailable dessert that was talked up. Request a window seat. And order the lamb.

The atmosphere Roosevelts creates meets its impression and price point. Unfortunately that’a the only thing that matches the price point. The food is cooked well by a talented team that clearly knows what they are doing. The menu has variety and the specials were good. Unfortunately, knowing how to cook and executing it well is about the bare minimum when you’ve got probably an $80-$100 check average. Some of the creative decisions simply don’t make sense. We bought the bread app for $12 that was just some focaccia with a metric ton of shaved parm on top and 1 dollop of balsamic glaze. Reloook those proportions on this rather dry bread please. Also consider serving with EVVO instead of butter. The flavors were combative nor complimentary. My wife’s steak was fine but she commented that her risotto was just so so and she thought the vegetable medley was frozen which I really hope was not true. The biggest issue that I can’t get over even days after this dining experience was the Dijon and herb Crusted lamb for $62. I got it with overcooked asparagus (but that’s okay small fluke in other wise well technically executed dinner) and the Savoyarde potatoes. On the potatoes I would not be as proud of that side as Roosevelts seems to be I found it a bit tasteless. On the lamb, it was cooked exactly as I ordered it so again good technical execution but they called it a herb and Dijon crusted rack and there might have been a herb or 2 on there but not “crusted” and the most egregious experience of the whole night - a huge slather of Dijon mustard across my lamb like a $62 hot dog. I don’t know where the teams head is at, they clearly possess the technical knowledge and ability to cook at the level the restaurant puts forth, but the creative decisions put into the menu are, bluntly, bad. You guys are better than this.

Food is absolutely terrible, and to add insult to injury the price they charge you is crazy. The only reason for two star is because of the service. Service was excellent, along with presentation. Please spend you time and money elsewhere.

Disappointing experience. The menu prices are higher than what is listed on the website. Apparently the website has not been updated in a while. Good wine selection, although the first bottle we selected was not that great. The salads were okay, but nothing special. I ordered the chicken and shrimp involtini. The chicken was tough and tasteless. The wild rice side tasted like it was saturated in vinegar. Lastly, the key limon pie dessert--$15.00--was served in a small pudding dish and had apparently been sitting in the refrigerator for several days. What we had was mediocre casual dining food at fine dining prices. This is a one and done for us. Recommend a hard pass on Roosevelt's.

This may be the absolute worst restaurant experience ive ever had. We received horrible service with no plates served with appetizers. Then the ice melted out of our drinks. We then asked the manager what was going on and his attitude was very indifferent. We then asked to tab out and leave and he responded by saying "I'm gonna have to ask yall to leave" what a horrible place.

Not a great experience. We went for breakfast because the place around the corner had a 90-minute wait. We were seated immediately (literally nobody else in the place). Three other tables came in right after us. They all ate and left before we even got our food. Order was then incorrect and we were over-billed by one entree. The service was so bad that we just let it go so that we could get out of there after our 2-hour stay. I guess I know why there's no line when every other place is slammed in Port A.

We came here for my best friends bachelorette. We were SUPER excited to come, we saw the food online and were immediately thrilled to try. We had two people in our party waiting for us as we were walking in… a lot of people hadn’t seen each other for years !!!!! Before we even sat down to grab our seats, this horrible host LITERALLY came to us and said… be quiet! She made the rest of the night horrible for us… another group of man came in and were “loud” and she did not act that way with them. She proceeded to act like a horrible lady the whole night. Her name is Ms Joy. I will Absolutely never come here because OF HER.

Unfortunate experience, food was great, manager was great and helpful. We came because we had great black jack oysters in Dallas and rejoiced when we found out this was the only place in Port A that carried them. Towards the end of the experience our friend (paying for the bill) told the server we’d add a 30% tip. When our server Lauren returned she said “that’s with the 30% tip added you just need to sign” which to me was a little odd because being in the service industry myself I’ve never been allowed to write a service tip myself and always told to allow the customer to write their own. Her mentioning that made me curious and in turn I asked to look at the receipt, which included way more than a 30% tip on the original tab. I told my table and we let her know it was over the 30 we told her and she immediately got defensive saying we said 35%, I let her know it just was not ok to try to take advantage of the situation and she just tried telling us to leave and that we could just go. Money is not the problem so we signed the check, finished our glasses of wine and head out. I absolutely do not appreciate us already being generous and light hearted and trying to be taken advantage of. it’s so unfortunate to have had such a great experience up until the end and Lauren getting so defensive about a tip she wrote on the check and telling us to get out. A simple “hey I was wrong I’m sorry” would’ve done. Truly sad to have to write this but to not even get an apology or admittance to wrong and her being hostile is just not okay. From my understanding in the service industry, if I’d ever write a tip for a patron that’d be grounds for termination. L Lauren. Attached is a picture of our receipt and the tip she wrote on there herself. Google will not allow a picture but the original total was 179.26, Lauren added a tip of $65. Any dumb person would know that’s a 30% tip of an over $200 bill :))
