Opinions de Holly's Drive Inn Post
Food was excellent! Best cheeseburger and onion rings I’ve had in a long time. Great small town drive-in :)
Great dining experience. It is old school ordering at a counter and waiting for your name to be called. Very polite staff. Holly's burger was a double meat with cheese and yummy! Good sweet tea with free refills. If you are in the area Holly's had a crowd and other restaurants did not.
Very good food. Good portion sizes. Ladies were enjoyable. They made atmosphere even better even if we were only dine in customers at the time. Even call-in or carry out orders where greeted and taken care of quickly. So far out of about 12 experiences at Holly's, not 1 has even been a 3 stars or less. Look forward to visit in next visits.
Love this place in Post Texas. My wife and I stopped by there last week around 10 am or so. Didn't want anything heavy so we got a tuna sandwich with chips. These ladies were awesome. They came to the car before we new what we wanted. And service and food was fabulous. I stopped by two days later and same great service and food. BTW had to stop back by and pick up two more tina sandwiches for my wife and i for later. Love you ladies. Thanks Paul
This was just the right place at right time. I was hungry for a burger and fries and there it was like and oasis in the middle of no where. The wait staff was so friendly and had the order out in no time. This was a true mustard cheese burger and it was perfect including the fries. The lettuce, tomato onion and pickles were fresh and just added to the extravaganza. Great job to the team at Holly's. Next time I am in the panhandle, I am stopping for a burger and fries!
If in the area, do yourself a favor and stop here!. Steak fingers are not reheated frozen sticks, they are homemade. Chilicheese burger, tots, fries..great! Also the banana split is $10, but literally almost weighs 2 pounds! Carhop service is excellent!
Best burger arround fore miles on end. Park and they come out to yr window to take yr order Card or cash.
Finally made it back through my hometown of post. Holly's brings back so many great memories, one bite of the Holly burger and I was right back in middle school on our off campus lunches! The same great food in the same great atmosphere. I love this place and if you eat here you will too! You can't think of Post Texas without thinking of Holly's.
I LOVE the old school diner feel this place gives off. Their food is amazing, and I LOVE their drinks. We will definitely be back when we travel through!
We stop every chance we can get when we are on the road and Holly's driver never disappoints! Always fresh, made to order! They always make you feel like part of the family, the staff is always friendly and helpful. We love the little game room in the back, the kids always make a break for it! 10/10 recommend.
Fast and friendly service. Food fresh and out within 15-20min. 10/10
Stopped in on a Saturday for lunch and had the Holly Burger and added chili and it was outstanding! The tots were hot and crispy! The sweet tea was just right! Finished off the meal with a chocolate shake and it was really good! Great place!
Stopped in on the way to Dallas for the weekend. Food was hot, fresh and delicious! Mom and pop places always serve the best food and this place was no different. Service was extremely quick and friendly as well. Will definitely be stopping again soon!
This is a eat in, order at the counter drive in place with fantastic food. We were meeting family here from Southern part of Texas, this was the half way spot in both of our journies. When we walked inside we went straight for the tables and asked for a menu, looked it over, ordered right at tge table and was treated so wonderful! The kids love the corn dog and krinkle cut fries. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were treated well, we will be back in 2 weeks for the kids return. Thank you! 😊
Just found the best Burger joint in West Texas since Bills Burgers in Lubbock Texas is no more. Nice and juicy and crinkle cut fries where hot and fresh this morning. Will be back for sure.
We wanted to try something different and local while passing through Post and found this place on google maps. And seeing the reviews we decided we’ll give this place a try. We got 3 grilled cheese sandwich meal for the kids. One strawberry shake. One bacon cheeseburger and I got a grilled chicken sandwich w/fries. It was delicious!!! Never tasted a grilled chicken sandwich with such great flavor. The fries were also good and not overly greasy like your usual French fries. Shake was a great choice with the meal. My kids enjoyed their meal especially my picky eater. Though no mask were being used at this time. So if you’re not comfortable with that I suggest you look elsewhere but would definitely recommend trying the food if you can get pass that.
We stopped here for a burger while road tripping! Great home style burgers and fries. The vanilla soft serve was amazing! Took me back to when I was a kid. Thank y'all!!
I live an hour away, on a trip to Amarillo my family finally stopped in for lunch and we wish we had sooner! You get a big big of crispy fries, burgers are really good. You get a huge tray of chili cheese fries so if your sitting in your car, get extra napkins! Onion rings were thin and crispy, I can't wait to go back again. Definitely worth the trip or stop if your passing by!
Headed back home and stopped in for Holly’s Bacon cheeseburger, tots, curly fries, Oreo shake, and coke for me and my two sons and everything was spot on perfection per the usual! Served hot and fresh, juicy burgers, bacon perfectly crispy, tots and fries crispy outside and tender potato inside without any fishy taste to them. Soda was so nice and bubbly, too! Highly recommend! Delicious!
Wow, what a great place! We got a cheeseburger and a fish sandwich. The service was wicked fast, the young lady that waited on us was very nice. What a cool place, too bad we live so far away. Thank you my friends!
Hollys has atmosphere like a 1950s burger shop. The burgers are very good and the onion rings I ordered were crispy and not greasy. I would recommend doing yourself a favor if you ever drive through Post Texas and stop in for a burger!
This place is a hidden gem. It’s always busy and packed when we go through so we’ve gotten smart called ahead and ready when we get there. The service is always amazing. The place is always pretty clean. Parking can be crazy sometimes when busy. But we travel over a hr to get a burger sometimes and it’s worth it.
Driven past this place many times on our way to Colorado/New Mexico, but have never stopped. On our recent drive back this holiday season, we were doing alright on gas and made the decision to stop in Post for lunch at Holly's. We didn't do the carhop service and went inside to order to use the restroom. The lady was nice behind the counter and took our cooked to order meal. We got cheeseburgers, bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, tater tots, and french fries. The burgers were reasonable prices (think In-n-Out and not Five Guys!) and were filling. I would highly recommend the onion rings with your meal, which there are plenty of options to choose from. This is our new stopping point to get something much better than the fast-food options in this desolate area of Texas.
Had a cheese burger and sweet ice tea. Very delicious
My first time eating there today, and I loved it! My husband and I ordered regular cheese burgers with everything on it, and it was so delicious! The burger buns had a slight crunch and buttery flavor because they toast them! It was like an old fashioned burger! The crinkle cut fries maintained their hotness and crunch too! Highly recommend and will eat there again!
Good burger! The bun was toasted perfectly, Very tasty ! friendly and fast car hop. Overall clean inside and out! Another huge plus. They have a nice looking game room unfortunately we were a time crunch to get back on the road so, we didn't get to try it out, but, If your traveling with kids that need to blow off some steam, this would probably be a great stop for you. They even took the time to cook and cut up the hot dogs we ordered for our fur boys. I would recommend stopping by if your in the area.
This has got to be one of the best burger joints I have been to. Will try to make it back and get me a burger again on the trip back from San Antonio. Service was just as good as the burger. I wish we had this crew, food, and restaurant back where we live.
Holly's is our lunch stop on the long drive from Houston to Santa Fe. My husband commented this time that the fries and burgers there are in his top 5 of all time.
This is a place I've only been to a couple of times even though I/we pass it quite often. The food is always excellent, and we sometimes enjoy the gameroom for a quick round of air hockey while we wait. Nice old pics and history in this place. If you have never been here, you need not pass it up the next time through Post!
My wife and I were traveling back through Post during the week and made it to Holly's around 10 minutes till closing time. They had no hesitation whatsoever to come out and take our order and also made it pretty quick as well. Everything we ordered from the "Holly Burger w/bacon" to the fries and milkshake was on point. Thank you to the staff at Holly's for always treating us to great customer service with a smile, and hot fresh food!
I was passing through on a motorcycle trip and they were very kind and accommodating. The hamburger was great.
For the past ten years that ive been driving this route. i had always wanted to stop at Hollys and today was my first time trying this burger joint little did i know i was missing out on some good old fashion style burgers it was worth every cent i recomend this ppl place to every one who is a burger lover you will not be disappointed
Clean, Nostalgic setting. Booths bolted to the floor. Arcade in the back. Even air hockey (and it works!)Terrific service from a friendly staff. Hands down the best burgers and shakes of all time anywhere. No frills, or gimmicks. Car hop service available too. Whether you’re headed out or going home, Holly’s will get you where you’re going happy and satisfied.
The food was great, staff was friendly, the atmosphere reminds me of simpler times.
Haven't been there in years...so no pics but it reminded me of a family run dairy Queen... The way a small town burger shack needs to be....no chain run establishment...just simple good food....thank God for places like this
We were travelling with dogs. They were very dog friendly. The Frito pie is fabulous and enough for 2-3 people!
It’s a good old diner feeling. Obviously people like sports there and support the local children and their sport endeavors. They probably feed them. The burgers were great. I was happy to take a break because it was 107° outside and I was super tired and hungry. Everything hit the spot it was fine
Very good food! Very fresh. A little bit of a wait, but we would rather wait and have fresh food.
2/14/26 Absolutely delicious! Had a burger and onion rings. Very flavorful. Very nice carhop.
Wow a step back in tim What a great place to visit if you come through post. It's a must stop. The menu is very plentiful and so are the portions. You gotta have the Frito pie!
Still leaving 5 stars out of respect to the owner and establishment. I love small businesses and love to see when one prospers after years of being opened. Here’s my gripe, the young lady with the brown gap sweater may need to be educated on customer service before beginning to work at a job that requires good customer service. Especially, one that gets a lot of business and can get hectic.
This establishment is well worth the stop. Amazing food, friendly service and awesome atmosphere. They also have a kids arcade room. A must stop if your in or near Post Texas. Family owned and ran you can tell with the love they put into this food thank you Holly Family. We will return again.
This was such a fun little place! To be completely honest, they might have the best chili cheese fries I've ever had! And believe me, I've had a lot of them.
Been driving by this place for ages heading north through Texas. Finally checked out this wonderful 50+ year old drive in. Great old fashioned drive in food. Burgers, fries, shakes.
Stopped on our way back from a weekend in Lubbock. Wanted to check it out and grab a couple of quick breakfast items for us. We both got breakfast sandwiches. Bacon, egg, and cheese and an Egg sandwich. Both came out EXACTLY as we ordered them and the taste was off the hook!! I gave the place a quick look and took a few shots to show it off. Worth the effort!! I highly recommend them!
First time visiting this city and stopped at Holly's Drive Inn for a quick bite while on a road trip to see the solar eclipse. I ordered the Club #2 per recommendation, and I was not disappointed. The spicy fries could have been Spicer, but overall, a very delicious meal during our stop. Service was fast and friendly. If we're back in this area, I'd be happy to return for seconds :)
Great little off the highway spot. Great service, food, prices, & place! Worth the stop before a long trip. Stopped by on our way back to Houston on a Sunday morning. Right off the main strip with room for RVs & rigs. Food was well worth the price & you get a huge amount. My new favorite out of town drive in. Menu so big I didn’t even know what to order. Check ‘em out & tell them the Strolling Stoner sent you! Enjoy, my family and I did!
Stopped here for a quick bite as we passed through headed back home to G-town. Try the Holly burger. It's a double meat double cheeseburger with all the toppings on a toasted bun. Add a side of crispy fries and a drink and you'll be a happy traveler. This place was unassuming but great! They even have carhop service if you don't feel like getting out of your ride.
We were driving through Post and happened upon this little gem. The wait staff was very nice. It was a true to life car hop. You pull up and park. They come get your order, payment, and then bring your food to you. It was moderately priced. Myself and my two kids ate for about $30. The food was really good. My youngest ordered the grilled cheese and gobbled it up in no time at all. My older got the B.L.T. He said it was great. I ordered a bacon burger and onion rings. It was also very scrumptious. This is a good place to grab a meal.
Delicious. My first visit today and I'll be back. The line went fast and the food was served quickly. The patty is from frozen and so are the fries but still amazing flavor. I loved it. They even have a school lunch menu for the kids to come in on their lunch and eat. Such a great idea. Post is fantastic and the school kids were so polite and kind. My husband has been here a few times and loves it. So he brought me to enjoy it on one of our loads. I can't wait to try some more items on the menu.
Six of us all enjoyed our selections. Burgers, salads, chiliburger and a couple kids meals were all better than expected. Fresh food and friendly service were a surprise on our long trip from Santa Fe to Ft Worth.
We stopped here over the weekend. It's a drive in with option to dine inside. We ordered two burgers, tots, onion rings, a chocolate shake and an unsweet tea. Everything tasted great and the portions were well served The price was reasonable, comparable to most restaurants and service was fast and friendly. We liked that there are many options you don't normally see at a burger joint like fish sandwiches, tacos and burritos. Takes about 10 minutes or so to get your order so if you are in a hurry, it might not be the best place for you. Other than that, it's a great place to eat.
Great burger. Staff is nice but they're super busy with all the orders. Wait time is a little longer than I would have liked but you can understand why when you see all the cars in the parking lot. You can dine in and that AC there is nice and cool.
As usual Hollys goes above and beyond our expectations. Food is always perfectly made to order and the service can not be beat. We used the carhop service and honestly had better service than any sit down restaurant in recent memory. Would and will always recommend a visit here.
Had the club was great and plenty of it. The atmosphere is old school and local which I thought was cool. Family owned and operated. The chicken fried steak looked amazing and the car hops still go out to the car!! Had the biggest banana split of my life!!! Was a good exp but have to admit was a little pricey but will eat there again!
Driving through town, stopped to gas up and grab a bite to eat. Looking for something besides the usual. I saw Holly’s Drive Inn on Google Maps. Encouraged by the good reviews, one cheese burger, fries and a Dr. Pepper later I have to say I was not disappointed! Car hop quick service. Good food. My only complaint is way too much ice in the soda. The chocolate malt closer resembled an icy milkshake. But overall a meal that hit the spot!
I stop here anytime I pass through Post, Texas. This time I just got the impression they are in need of some new blood. The chilli tasted canned, the patties were overcooked, and the entire meal was Sysco-ish. NOW, as a restaurant guy I must add that I totally get it! Small town with particular tastes and the staffing issues related to employing millennial aged folks and younger, etc. I am giving the place 4 stars because they are friendly and the food may be processed but that doesn't mean it's not tasty! I still recommend the place but I also encourage the owners to have a competition to decide the next new menu item, or take trip to some midrange burger places in North West Texas, or something to get some passion back in the place!
Bet I passed by here over 100 times before deciding to stop for food. The cheeseburger alone made it worth it. I don't care for them at all, but if you like crinkle cut fries you'll enjoy the fries here. Prices seemed a tad bit high especially for a small town. Service was okay. Not bad but also not over the top in any sort of way. I will definitely come back for another cheeseburger sometime.
Great food, especially the steak fingers, but never served with a smile. Every time I’ve been it seems like the ladies are annoyed you’re there.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the drive-in. They have great service and the sandwiches was very good. We will definitely eat there again when passing through the area.
I don’t know if it was because it was packed when I went to eat there but the customer service was mid the younger girl employee with braces wearing a brown sweater taking orders was rude to customers and had a nasty attitude. The food in itself was okay, again not sure if it was because they were busy but this was my experience and hope they can make adjustments in their customer service and the way they put their food together rather than giving customers dry burger patties and hard tater tots with what seems unchanged oil.
This is an old school car hop with a lot of hometown pride. I was extremely excited to try the spicy chicken sandwich meal and an old school malt. I was a bit upset about the size of my $8 chicken sandwich. The meat to bread ratio was extremely off and the chicken patty was very tiny. Service was very slow but we did arrive at the start of the dinner rush. All the staff was kind although they did appear overwhelmed. If I stopped again it would be for fries/shake and not a tiny mini chicken sandwich.
If you want a good old fashion greasy burger Holly’s is the place to come and get one, got attended to fast and served fast, very friendly server and a smile on her face with a good attitude. I just wish the French fried didn’t taste like fish 🐟 but oh well I’d still go back, thanks. 👍🏽
Second visit. First was so good we wanted to try again. Burger is pretty good, but not for the price. Fries are excellent, but don't order the large. It's big enough for four people. Malt was not good. Flooded with Strawberry flavoring and no malt flavor. Car Hop was in a bad mood. Probably due to the heat. I'm sure it's not pleasant. Price was so high we won't be back. No prices posted outside. Maybe inside. It was 100 and we had to stay in the car with our dog and the AC running. It's the only option for the shady area. Parking in the sun to go inside would not be good for our dog. I suppose one of us could stay in the car. It just seemed nostalgic to get Drive In Car Hop service. Oh well. Two regular bugers, large fry and the malt was $38. OMG! I should have asked for the receipt. I didn't see the point of sale gadget or receipt. Car Hop bolted. I have no idea how it was charged but it shows up on my credit card as $38. No biggie. Plenty of burger joints to try.
Multiple times we have ordered for dinner and just about half those times our order comes out wrong. The lady spoke back exactly what we told her 2 holly burger with mayo and NO veggies but as we got home there were veggies on the burger and the buns soggy. It also looked like all employees were sitting around on their phones except one person
The burgers were ok and the shake was good… but the restaurant was filthy. No clean tables and sticky floors with tomatoes smeared all around. The girls behind the counters didn’t seem to enjoy their job at all. But I can live with that, what I’m very unhappy about is the fact that my bill was $39 and my cc was charged $44. Someone thought they deserved a $5 tip for some reason and they absolutely did not.
My second time enjoying Holly's. The staff is friendly and the food was amazing. The only thing I will complain about and could get this place shut down was one employee I am assuming cook because she had on a blue apron. Super long fake finger nails with jewels on them was on her personal phone talking and came to the front and put her dirty hands into the ice machine in-front of customers and scooped ice into her cup. I was taken back by this as I have worked in the food industry for 15+ years and have never seen this done before. I still enjoyed my drink after knowing that the ice had been contaminated and like I said our food was amazing. Maybe a recap on the food handlers website would be great for the employees.
It's a meal when needed! Not bad, but my personal opinion was nothing to write home about. We had the burgers and fries! It was ready fast, which was nice! No one seemed eager to be at work. Not one smile given from 3 separate employees, I think that bothered me most.
Car shops seemed confused as to why we were there. There were no other customers there and it still took 10 minutes for anyone to come take our order.
Grilled cheese and fries amazing! Cheeseburger not so much. The gr.cheese was a simple buttered bread toasted on the grill with cheese but done perfectly. Burger: all pieces of it weren't good and not bad. 2nd night gr.cheese not golden brown this time went from 10/10 to 8/10. Guess it depends on cook that night.
Heading home to SaTown, usually stop here to grab a 🍔 combo for the road. Unfortunately, the quality of their food has gone down! We ordered 3 combos, 2 with 🧀, dry no onions & 1 no cheese, no pickles with a side of jalapeños. Burgers look like they were just thrown together with no care. The beef burgers were dry and had no flavor. Got 3rd burger 🍔 with cheese 🧀 when it shouldn't have any and didn't get the jalapeños. We called to inform them of their errors, and the manager didn't have anything to say, absolutely nothing!! 🤦♀️ So you just lost a customer. If management can't address the customer complaints, maybe it's time to clean house! Just saying 😌 P.S. Travelers beware, check your orders before for you leave. I don't recommend stopping here!
We stopped to eat while passing through because it had good reviews. We parked outside for car hop service. We were waited on fast but the food took over 45 minutes nothing special just hamburgers and a corn dog. The buns were hard, corn dog hot on outside cold on inside. Won't be visiting again
We’ve been coming to Hollys for over 20 years. We’ve always loved the foot and the service. But over the last 5 or so years, it’s really lost its spark. We have been saying for a while that the girls who work there are no longer joyful, kind, respectful and happy to serve. They have become disrespectful and tacky. We drove through today and they got our order wrong. They also said utensils, salt, pepper, and ketchup was in the bag. When I discovered none it was there, I asked for ketchup. The carhop acted like I’d asked her to cut off her hand. The historical reputation is so much better than this. We will likely take our business elsewhere after this experience.
It seems like it's going down hill with the food and service
Drove past this place a few times. Decided to stop the last time. The girl said ‘we’re known for our burgers’ so… Ordered bacon cheeseburger and curly fries. 10 minutes later ‘school kids’ showed up. About 30 of them got their food and I was still waiting. I watched 3 vehicles arrive outside, place orders and leave with food. At the 20 minute mark I asked if they had called my name and I just missed it. The other worker very rudely said NO. so I waited more. At 30 minutes I asked what was going on, why are these people getting food and I am not. The rude worker said ‘they’re school kids!’ I wasn’t aware that the rule was they come first and non-locals wait. The ‘nicer’ worker got my food out and other patrons said the burger will be worth the wait. We’ll, no. It wasn’t. Burger patty was overcooked and dry and thin. Fries were not great either. Will not be back.
$17 for a burger and fries. I don’t know if they did it on purpose or not but couldn’t eat the burger because of the amount of salt! Was hoping for a better experience because I love supporting small businesses but don’t waste your money hear. Reviews are dishonest.
We were super excited to stop at this little drive in. It’s just the kind of place we like on road trips. Great retro look and menu. Unfortunately both the food and service were terrible. The shake was the only decent part of the meal.
Food was cold for waiting 40 min.. from out of town so we saw the reviews and decided to try it out...burger and tots a big disappointment... ketchup pump in the dining room was in a Vanilla Syrup container..CROSS CONTAMINATION- IMPROPER LABLED CONTAINER..what if someone has a ALLERGY, suoer dangerous...the young cashier with blue braces was rude and had a attitude ... we asked her for recomendations on what to try since she was an employee and all she said was "I dunno, I dont eat the food here🙄.. " I should have just left..but according to the reviews it fails to mention crappy managers too..hateful people.. and if your lucky you will get to witness the cashier throwing drinks at a customer while in a full blown argument ..small town teenager drama.including management... not impressed ..will never be back...plus I hope Health Department checks out re used containers there..if that one is in plain sight I can only imagine whats in the back.
We walked in and stood at the counter waiting to take our order. The 2 teenage girls in the front were running around never acknowledging us. We asked one of them if they were still serving seeing that we did get here 20 minutes before closing. We understood if they wouldn't serve but we thought we would still try since we were passing thru on our 6 hour drive. She completely ignored us. We stood there another 10 minutes and I asked the cooks that weren't too far from the counter and they just both looked at each other as lost as can be and couldn't give us an answer. We told them it's ok no worries it's already 5 minutes till they lock the doors. As we walk out, one of the teenage girls rudely and sarcastically said "don't yall see the open sign light is off". Mind you we don't ever come here. We didn't realize that there was an open sign and we did look for thier hours on the establishment just incase the online hours may had been incorrect. But everything seemed to show us that they're were still open. They were just closing earlier than they should had been.
I wish I could say this was a great experience, but it was not! Called in our order because we couldn’t get a “carhop” parking spot. I was told 30 minutes. For a burger, 2 orders of tots, one with chili and cheese and a banana split. 45 minutes later we were told they’re working on it. Just passing through, we left! Service has to improve in my opinion! The last straw was seeing someone drive up and shortly received their order! I guess if you have all day, it may be a great place. We will probably never try again!!
Waste of time, and money! Burger and BLT were a joke! Owners needs to evaluate staff! (2-27-26) 6:45pm-8:00pm
Met us at the door to tell us our service dog wasn't allowed in their restaurant, then said we could sit outside, at 45 degrees. This is completely illegal and I will be filing with the ADA. Just know who you're supporting when you eat here. And they were not pleasant about it in any way.
I used to live in the area and would stop in here weekly. I made a special detour here while driving through the area and arrived 35 min before they closed for one of their famous milkshakes. I was refused service because they "already turned off their ice cream machine". Don't advertise hours you aren't willing to be open. Or, pay your help to "close" the store after you're CLOSED....not before. Very disappointing.
Family Ordered a club sandwich that was Amazing! But when it came to the dressed burrito, I expected a homemade burrito and only saw an “allsups” looking burrito that only had beans. Very disappointed. Cheese also taste watered down. And when it came to the chili cheese burger, it was dry and burned. And barely had any meat or cheese. The patty was also very thin. Overall was very disappointed because I heard good things about it. But the spicy fries were Amazing as well! Just sad they we’re not curly anymore.
