First time here. Was very happy to find that it is everything there slogan says - warm, friendly, comfortable. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Definitely will be a repeat customer!

I stopped for lunch while l was at the south hills mall, had the soup and salad combo, and it was excellent. The waiter who served me was very pleasant, and l recieved my order very quickly, it was a very good experience. I will definitely go back again.

Stopped here on a business trip and was happy to see that old school diners still exist. The food was great! Big portions of good food! Waitress was great! Its the kind of place where the owners really do care about their customers.

We had a breakfast get together of 15 people. They did a fantastic job taking care of our order. We did call ahead of time so we could let then know how many people were going to attend. They were ready for us! Great food and service!

Best diner in the area. Nice looking on the inside with the chandeliers. Went here for dinner with a friend and our food arrived so hot we had to wait for it to cool down before we could eat it. It was delicious. Will definitely be going back again.

We came here with friends on vacation. The menu is super fully loaded. Like anything you could imagine was on the menu. The server was super polite and checked on us often. My food was great. The diner did give off an old 50s vibe.

I went here multiple times for breakfast, the first time my server Ashley was top notch, I highly recommend asking for her, the second time they were less attentive buy were quick to rectify the fact that we were eating dairy free, the toast came buttered when we told them dry, but they never hesitated to correct their mistakes and I got multiple buttered toast without charge for me since my wife and daughter eat dairy free. great service and delicious food, just need to be accurate awhen ordering

Food and service were excellent. We got a mix of breakfast options and a club sandwich. The breakfast came out hot and fresh and the roast beef club was piled high and presented well. Coffee was refilled constantly and service in general was good. We'll be back.

Dutchess Diner is different, a good difference. 😁 We entered the diner and were greeted by the owner. Clean, organized, modern and friendly environment. After being seated the wait for a waiter/waitress was super short. The service was perfect, the food had flavor, amazingly delicious. Their soups are smooth and homely. I now go to the Dutchess Diner regularly, 5 stars.

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Nice staff. A bit pricey but for good quality. I ordered a competition burger. They have a variety of specialty burgers right now that members of their staff have created. I tried a Mexicali burger that was incredible, huge, and full of flavor, but needed a little salt, just a little. Black beans, corn, pepper jack cheese, Southwest seasonings, avocado slices, tomatoes which I really think should have been left off...so while the burger was expensive, it was worth it. The burger was huge, the fries were crispy and filled the plate. It was definitely good. And to top it off, they gave me a $5 certificate for voting on the burger. Which really made it much more worth it. Definitely a revisit in my future.

We dine for breakfast every week. We have never had a bad meal. The food is delicious!! We go back every week because Eduardo is amazing!!! He takes very good care of us and is so pleasant.

I love this diner.! All the staff here at this diner are so very friendly and accommodating from the hostess, waitress and busboy to the person that rings up the order at the register. Also, the food was served quickly and it was amazing. We brought a friend there for the first time and she can't wait to return with her family. We'll be back soon!

Delicious food. I had a simple BLT wrap with crispy chicken and a side of fries and coleslaw, all of it was amazing! The freshly squeezed lemonade was actually freshly squeezed and extremely refreshing. Our waitress (I think her name was Meghan, if so I hope I spelled it correctly) was really friendly and outgoing. Definitely going back without a doubt. Probably a place I will visit weekly now.

Great experience. I truly enjoyed my time here. The food was good, which I expected. But let’s talk about it the atmosphere; top notch. Hostesses were great and attentive (I sat close to their section). My waiter was polite and speedy. I even did the kids menu games which made the experience so much better. This family style diner made me feel at home. Can’t wait to come back.

I really do love this diner. I run an open board game group that meets here every Wednesday, and the staff and owner have been so accommodating and lovely to us. Coming to this diner every Wednesday is one of the highlights of my week. I almost always have a really great meal, and if I don't, it's purely because it just wasn't to my taste and not due to the quality. Our server, who helps us each week (Meghan) and the rest of the staff, is so personable and kind. I highly recommend this diner.

THE diner to go to in this area. I'm a "French Toast any time of day" kind of guy, but I can tell you that whatever you order is going to be good. The staff are also amazing, and I'm glad to come here instead of another chain restaurant any time.

The speed we got our food was incredible. We did order breakfast, which should be fast, but this was faster than any other place. And it was really good. Eggs were prefect and the pancakes were really fluffy. The waiter was friendly and efficient. The only minor complaint (if you can call it that) is that they bunched up all the patrons in one small section so we could hear the conversations next to us. They could have spread us out just a tad more and still kept us in the same corner of the diner. But I'll definitely return.

I can’t say enough amazing things about the girls at the Dutchess Diner — Meghan, Cristie, Annie, and Julie & korrine are truly the heart of the place! Manny is also fantastic only male I like at this location ! Jose, he is a younger bus boy but he is so kind and attentive — will go out of his way from what he is doing to help the best he can. Every visit feels like catching up with friends who genuinely care. They’re always smiling, quick with a laugh, and somehow manage to make everyone feel like family no matter how busy it gets. The service is always top-notch — friendly, fast, and full of good energy. Whether it’s your morning coffee or a late-night meal, they go above and beyond every single time. Dutchess Diner just wouldn’t be the same without them! 💖 HUGE thank you to Greg in the kitchen too — always fantastic food !

This is my favorite diner around. The food is always delicious and the service is fantastic. The waitress, Megan, is enigmatic and friendly and she is amazing at her job. Our group holds a game night here occasionally, and they allow us to enjoy a few hours of food and board games. Love this place.

The is a Very popular diner that serves fresh baked desserts and delicious foods all day long. The service is great and today we had Julia as our server. What a pleasure! She’s skilled and friendly. She gives her opinion on food choices if asked and we were lucky today because some days she’s the cashier and we received terrific service from her for our party of 5. The portions and prices are aligned with kindness to the consumer. Next time I eat here I’ll be trying out some of their desserts.

Stopped in for dinner and was promptly seated. The place is large with plenty of seating, and they have display cases with many wonderful looking desserts. It's hard to choose. I ordered Gus chicken sandwich with grilled mushrooms, peppers, onions, and melted cheese. It was excellent and filling. It comes with fries, pickles, and coleslaw. I got strawberry cheesecake slice to take home. The server was extremely friendly and checked in many times.

I visited the Dutchess Diner in Autumn 2024. Offering a classic diner take, with a wide and varied menu, staff quickly greeted and seated me on my arrival. I had a masala style chicken dinner with a Caesar salad and desert. Staff were attentive and offered good suggestions. The portion was exorbitant but extremely tasty. Slightly overpriced ($29 main) for what it was; however, I would recommend and revisit.

I ordered the Tomato Benny with a side of fruit salad, which was fantastic. I'll order it again for sure, the scallion cut the rich hollandaise, the tomato added extra moisture, and its breading extra crunch. The bacon was also really good. My server was polite, prompt, and professional. I also listened as he worked hard to make certain every guest in the room was satisfied. Glad this staple of Poughkeepsie is still going strong!

We hadn't been here since the Pandemic began so it was great to start our vacation with a Dutchess Diner breakfast before playing golf nearby. It is a traditional diner with good food, good service and moderate prices. It is also very clean. My breakfast held my appetite for 18 holes of golf!

Definitely a traditional diner from the exterior and interior. Lots of options on their menu. I had a soup and it was delicious. Their jambalaya was nice and my wife enjoyed her patty melt and the good amount of fries for the side. We both really enjoyed the apple pie with ice cream and whip cream.

This pastrami melt greatly exceeded my expectations! Perfect amounts of swiss & onions to complement the meat. Too delicious to save the second half for later! Brought the fries, slaw, & pickle home, though.

Went after after my Drs appointment down the road. Stopped in about lunchtime and the place was very busy. The service was quick, efficient and courteous. We did not have to wait to be seated, it was immediate. The coffee was nice and fresh which is always a plus with me. The menu is large so there is a lot to choose from. I believe you can make minor substitutions to the items on the menu - always needed with us and our limited diet. The bathrooms are clean even if the place is a little outdated. The prices are average for the diners around this area. We only went there because it was convenient.

This diner was good, but needs some upgrades soon. The food was also good but the prices were more than we expected. It wasn't busy when we went and the service could use a little improvement. Otherwise a great location and adequate parking, & lots around the area to see.

My breakfast was great, it consisted of a generous amount of ham, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and pancakes. My Wife had their eggs Benedict that was disappointing, cheap and tough English muffins, funky tasting Hollandaise sauce(I tasted it...Yuck 🤮) and the 1 positive was the ham. Hopefully this was simply an isolated incident as we usually love this diner.

Great food and service. Only dissapointment is the looks of it. Quite run down, plastic table cloths with discoloration, walls dirty and could use a paint coat, carpet has seen better days, several ripped spots. A fresh color, carpet, ceiling vents cleanup, and table clothes will go a long way to keep with the competition around the area.

My husband and I stopped after the mall for dinner. We had not been in years. Pleasantly surprised. Best wrap I have had in a while! He had a panini. It was very good. Everything hot and fresh! Great coffee too. Only negative I can give is that it was too warm in there. Need to turn up the AC!

Local diner, busy Sunday lunch brunch crowd. Santiago was great taking orders, bringing food at the same time for our group of 5, and keeping track of refills.

My wife and I had the French toast for breakfast. It was delicious! Three thick slices of fresh bread. We had to bring home some of the leftovers. Prices were fair and service was very good. The diner was clean and well kept.

I absolutely love the staff, servers are attentive and friendly. The food is good (I usually get breakfast or your standard diner meal) but guys, you gotta make a better cup of coffee. Wash the pot? Better brand? Sronger brew? It pretty awful. I'd probably done there more frequently if the coffee was tempting

It's what you expect from a diner , with a good assortment of dishes to choose from. The food came out quickly, which was a plus, and everyone at my table liked their meal. We were here for breakfast. The diner motif is fun and well-done. The breakfast menu is extensive. I had the basic country breakfast, with eggs over easy, pancakes, sausage, and home fries. The sausage may be the best I have had in a long time. The home fries were also delicious. The pancakes and the eggs weren't very good.

The food was amazing and service was excellent! Although I observed something strange, one of the owners was waiting tables and it wasn't that busy. I'm not sure how I felt about a business owner taking tables and reciving tips. My feeling is it's taking away from the servers being they are not business owners and already earn much less per hour then other minimum wage jobs. Maybe they were severely understaffed? but being their were a few other waitresses and it wasn't very busy I doubt it. 🤔

Basic diner with a 60's feel. The crowd is mostly older baby-boomers. Keep your order simple and be hungry. Try one of their burgers. No fancy drinks, soda, or beer. The wine seemed pricey for this diner. Nice people, quaint diner right off a local highway. Visited on a Wednesday.

Visiting the Area: The food was ok, nothing unique or special. The portion sizes were good for the price. Nothing that would bring us back or recommend to anyone coming to the area.

Stopped here after a long drive up from Maryland. The place has great atmosphere and the staff were welcoming and very sweet. First alarm bell rang when I bit into a pickle that tasted as if it had been stored in a mop bucket. Food was not good. I had a patty melt, wife had the bruschetta chicken pasta, and daughter had a hot dog and fries. Patty melt was bland and undercooked, but was at least edible. Hot dog tasted old, as if it had been cooked days ago and simply reheated. Ordering the bruschetta chicken pasta was a mistake. It had a very bad taste, as if someone had just dumped wine over some pasta and threw in some frozen chicken chunks. Disappointing to say the least, as I had great expectations when sitting down. Fix the food and the place will become top tier.

The French Toast was excellent. The pancakes were too heavy and dry for my liking. The Texas Fries were not more than the sum of it's parts. A little disappointing, but overall OK.

Not terrible but have definitely been to better diners. Booth was dirty & no air conditioning. Ordered poor boy wrap for breakfast, which would've been great, except I found hair in it.... Thank God for the fruit cup that came with it on the side. we won't be returning.

The coffee tasted burnt. We sat at the counter since we were just having coffee. We did not even have a refill. And the bill came to $7.50. Yes that was just for coffee. One cup each. A little excessive. Our waiter though was very awesome.

Everything was great, expect my food. Ordered eggs/bacon/fries/toast and had a cup of decaf.… ate try eggs and toas(forced myself to eat the toast) and barely drank that coffee. The bacon looked old 1/10 The fries looked good but not when they are cooked in whatever oil us back there 1/10 The decaf tasted burnt or old 2/10 Service 10/10 Front help 10/10

The staff is friendly. The cheeseburger is juicy and has flavor. The fries were ok, the cole slaw and pickle were not edible. The chocolate milkshake was like a glass of solid ice cream.

This diner used to be a favorite but the last few visits have been disappointing. The wait staff was super warm and kind, but the food was not prepared correctly (burger undercooked, modifications overlooked). We also have had to wait very long amounts of time for service, from getting our drinks to waiting for our check.

I had came in tonight to get a togo. Wasnt greeted promptly. The server who from the receipt was korrine was very pleasant that is the only reason i gave it a better review for service. There were 2 people up front and both seemed incompetent, while the sever was busy doing stuff for her table i asked both of them for coffee and they ignored me and were to busy flirting and goofing around to help. Getting home the food was great and will still be back to give it another shot but maybe not on a sunday

The food was not on par with other diners in my opinion. The waitress although she was cordial didn't point out any specials. Maybe there weren't any. She took my drink order. After 10 minutes she returns to take my order but no drink in hand. She admitted she had forgotten. Takes my order. I go to the salad bar. After 10 or 15 minutes she returns with both the cup of soup and main entree. She said something like, it came out faster than I thought. Timing food courses is important. All of sudden I found the table with the salad I hadn't finished, a cup of soup which was getting cold and the main entree. She never thought of asking if I'd like a refill on the ice tea. She never suggested dessert or coffee. She dropped off the check as if she had something else to do. Will I go back. Most likely not. This was my first time engagement with the Dutchess Diner on Rte 9 in Poughkeepsie NY. I was looking forward to a nice experience yet it came up short. My dining dollar will go elsewhere in the future when I'm back in the area.

Found a bit of string or hair in my rice pilaf. Sent it back. Some of the lettuce was brown. The turkey was crumbly and tasted funny. Spat it out. Speaker with Muzak was crackling. We used to come here a lot but they’ve gone downhill.

Sweet staff, but the food was tough. The place looks super dated and has that feel as well. My table has duct tape on it. Kinda grossed me out, kept thinking about all the germs stuck on that tape. All the staff helped, but did not change the unenjoyable flavor of both meals. Right next to a Car Cleaning joint, so the location was ideal. Just could use some visual appeal and some flavor in the food.

About 8:00 Friday night I called in for a take out order 3 eggs, scrambled side of bacon, home, fries, and toast. I also asked for a chicken salad sandwich. I should have known to check the bag. Even know I repeated the order to Melissa on the phone and I still had to ask did she put grape jelly in my bag and the answer was oh I’m sorry I forgot I’ll get it right away. Well when I got home I had a chicken salad sandwich. I got three eggs scrambled instead of bacon I got burnt ham and no toast I called and I asked for Melissa, she’s the one I actually answered the phone again and I told her what happened and she says if I want come back for the bacon and toast now I live 20 minutes away why would I come back for bacon and toast? Meanwhile the eggs and home fries were going to be ice cold and she rudely hung up on me because she doesn’t care so please when you do take out at the ditches diner always check because your order will be screwed up shame on me. This was the second time I thought maybe a year had passed and I didn’t need to check the order but shame on me. To top it off, the diner was empty maybe 10 people in there

We just walked in and there was no one that took an interest in us. One worker was on their phone and could not even bother to look up and acknowledge us. Finally someone came and seated us, gave us water. 10 minutes go by and not 1 employee stops by to ask us if we'd like anything to drink, yet there are about 7 or so employees chatting and laughing, and, only a couple of customers I the restaurant. We got up to leave.. As soon as we got up, a waitress comes running to us. I said, we are good thanks and left.. My first and last time there!!

I asked for French toast on whole wheat bread. They wouldn’t even make it. I just found that odd. My wife’s food was basic and not cooked well. The waitress was fine. The prices are very high for how old and outdated the diner is. Won’t ever go back.

Well after a great enrollment, my coworker and I decided to grab a bite at the Dutchess Diner only to have the unfortunate experience being waited on by Melissa When I say HORRIBLE! This is an understatement. She totally messed up our order and even omitted item. It took 15 minutes to bring us a cup of coffee after she brought us dessert. Not once did she apologize for her actions. We had to ask for utensils No napkins. I could go on... Very dissatisfied customer. I will never eat here again:(

We have been here many times in the past and always enjoyed our meal. Idk why this visit was different. My chicken had much cartilage, so I couldn't eat it. I asked the waitress to take my meal off the bill. She did.

Horrible service, waited over ten minutes and not one server came over. Also the place was not busy at all. Then another customer was seated and the waitress went right to them to get their order when we tried to get her attention she did not even bother. The place is also very dark and smelly. It almost feels like they're stuck in the '90s or even the '80s I definitely would stay away . But thank you for the terrible service we were able to find the pancake factory which is amazing

I would not even give this place 1 star. I ordered a grilled cheese a d French fries. I get my food and there are pieces of bacon on my fries. (I don't eat pork or meat). I explained this to the waiter and he takes the fries & brings me what he said are new French fries. AGAIN bacon bits in my fries. I send it back and I wait 10 minutes. My grilled cheese gets cold & we ask the waiter where the fries are. I am then told the bacon & fries are fried together. I could not eat my grilled cheese at that point. I have truly grossed out. At least it was taken of the bill.

Im pretty sure the served me someones leftovers. I ordered a dozen fried wings. Half of the wings were soggy and cold and the other half were hot and crisp. The cold soggy ones had rice on them. I did not have rice with my order.

Came here after a long drive on a work trip, just me. Asked to sit at the bar top and it was just me there. Was given my menu and order and coffee and seemed fine. During the meal, the server sat at the end of the bar blaring videos on his phone, then looking out the window, and barely checked on me. Keep in mind I’m the only one there. Got an omelette and they gave me the wrong one or he didn’t hear me correctly, not ideal but fine. Food was very bland, toast was burnt. 8 hours later and I’m throwing up and have diarrhea. Only thing I’ve eaten today and last night so it must’ve been that.

I called ahead and ordered 2 beef gyros. I didn't want fries so they upcharged $3 per salad, which I am ok with. The girl told me 10-15 minutes. I got there 25 minutes later and waited for them to get my order ready. The meat only needs to be heated in their microwave for 3 min. From the time I called it in, it took 55 minutes to get my order ready, bagged up, and in my hands. (The server said my order was ready when I got there, the hostess just didn't look!) When I got home, the salads I paid extra for, were not in the bag, and of course the gyros were ice cold. When I called to tell them, I was told no $6 refund would be issued to me for the salads but I could come back and get them if I wanted. I paid $43 for crappy food, tipped $8 for terrible service, plus the gas I used going there twice. Was an expensive lesson learned about why I will never go to the Duchess Diner again!! Furious!!
