Opinions de Thai Spice Poughkeepsie
First time trying and I really liked the food! I ordered Pad See Yue with chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry or chewy. My boyfriend ordered pineapple fried rice with shrimp and they gave a lot of shrimp! The rice wasn't greasy at all. The menu overall is very well priced and the restaurant has a cozy interior. I'm glad we gave it a try; I'd be happy to go back.
I decided to try the Pork Pad Woon Sen, since I had never had that before. I enjoyed the chewy glass noodles, the savory sauce, and the meat on it very much. They definitely have big portion sizes, so it might be a good idea to share everything with friends if you are not coming alone. I also tried my friend's Pad Thai which was absolutely delicious as well. The employees were very understanding and they let us stay there for a long while, even after our food was done. Impeccable atmosphere.
Uber eats delivery. Everything delicious! Tried something different Kang Keow Wan Community & Thai Dumplings. Loved it. Dumpling appetizers really good. Enjoyed with Spaghetti style slices carrot and dipping sauce. Main meal wonderful. Great flavor steaming hot. Spicy so careful if not your thing. Everything comes together, so good! Added Jasmine rice, perfection Couldn't wait leftovers today.. Highly Recommend. Also recommend trying something new. Believe will be pleasantly surprised whatever order won't be disappointed. I look forward trying Lots different dishes never had before.
Decent Thai food overall. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, beef pad Khing, and mango sticky rice. The pad Thai was very good, but the pad Khing did not have the best flavor. The mango sticky rice was decent but a bit too sweet, and the mango wasn’t ripe enough, making it slightly chewy. However, I’ve had other dishes from this restaurant at catered events at Vassar, and those were all delicious. I don’t remember all the dishes, but the chicken satay and Thai spring rolls were very good. I think this restaurant has some great options, and I’ll definitely return to try more. UPDATE: I recently tried the veggie duck pineapple curry. It was not the best dish I have had, the curry broth was very watery and lacked flavor
Great food at fair rates. Comfortable cushioned booths with wooden overheads like a lower bunk bed. Pretty décor displaying Thai scenery. Waitstaff curt but competent. Bathroom clean, free wi-fi and there is a coat rack. Three bottled Thai beers. Parking streetside is your best bet since the lot behind the restaurant is very narrow and greasy.
We ordered the Thai Salad, Summer Rolls and Shrimp Pad Thai. The peanut sauce on the salad was delish. The summer rolls were mostly lettuce. I would’ve loved more scallion or glass noodles or bean sprouts. They were good though. The Pad Thai was yummy as well. My only complaint was the 0.35 cent charge for more than 1 soy sauce. For $35 worth of food, 2 extra soy sauce should be complimentary.
Not a bad place to stop by but keeping a few things in mind: the soups n apps were yummy, my hubby's duck dish was too chewy that he didn't really enjoy it, shrimp pad thai shrimps weren't cooked enough, veggie dishes were good but nothing special. Again it's not terrible, but nothing to wow either. They have some parking in the back that can get cramped up but it's an option.
My friends and I stopped here the other day for a late lunch and I have given this review a three start because of the experience of my friend's meals. My meal was delicious: I ordered the fried wontons and the vegetable noodle soup. The portions were VERY generous and I wound up taking most of the soup home. My friends however did not have quite the same experience. The spare ribs did not have flavor or good color and they came on a plate of tiny ribs, one inch wide with perhaps one bite of meat. Initially I had a rib 'order to go' for my husband and just looking at my friend's order, I cancelled it and ordered something else. The biggest turn off for my friend was that his entree came in a porcelain bowl that had not one, not two but THREE chips. Thai Spice needs to do better than this if they are to stay in business. For that reason, I would not go back even though my meal was good.
Problem with waitress who offered hot and sour soup as a choice (it's adjacent to a Chinese restaurant) and brought tom yeng, a soup I don't like. I called her over and said I couldn't eat it. She defended her offerings, didn't offer a substitute and took it away. My friend rice dish was average as were my friend's. Probably not going again.
If you’re getting take out this is probably a solid move but if you are planning on dining in with family or friends — PASS! I’ve been to this establishment four separate times and would rate Thai Spice a two star establishment (due to the service). I love Thai cuisine and overall the food is decent but the servers and atmosphere are always far below average. Unhappy servers who have mastered making you feel like a burden the moment you walk into the restaurant. Server watched videos on her phone (OUT LOUD) the entire hour I waited and ate dinner. Dateline television on as loud as can be (which as the only person in the restaurant I asked to turn to down - they said no). Very unwelcoming environment. My last and final visit I ordered apps and paid / walked out before even ordering entres. Again, food is solid - atmosphere not so much.
Ehhhhh. We ordered take out from Thai Spice as there are very few Thai options locally and were pretty disappointed. The pad Thai was extremely oily and red in color? I don’t know how to describe the taste but it wasn’t what I think of pad Thai! The Kuay Tiew Kee Mao was a lot better of a noodle dish and quite spicy. The fried rice Puk was quite bland. Appreciated that we could order any option vegetarian (with veg or tofu). Quite large portion sizes as well. Overall we’d probably not order again.
I ordered 2 pad Thai with shrimp to go. They both had overcooked shrimp so hard it was bad, no sauce. Tasteless. My friends from out of town were not impressed at all and barely ate any of it. It was all noodles and nothing else. No flavor, few shrimp that were overcooked. Will not go back. My mother was looking forward to some pad Thai for her 90th birthday celebration and even she did not like it.
Ordered eggplant with basil with shrimp added. Picked up food item at approximately 9:30 PM. when I got home shrimp was grossly overcooked. I understand that may happen. The restaurant was closed at that time so I called the following morning. I explained shrimp were grossly overcooked. And I was unable to eat the meal. Customer service was very poor. One person spoke to me, then handed me over to someone else who rudely explained that there was nothing they could do that was basically my fault for not eating the food right away. As I mentioned before, I explained to her that immediately when I got home to eat, the shrimp was very overcooked. The restaurant was closed at that time so I had no other choice but to call the following morning There was no offer of adjustment or compensation or just simply in acknowledgment that they apologize for the meal and they were sorry I didn’t enjoy it. That was the most important thing was just acknowledging the situation and my feelings. On the other hand, it was more rude. I was not allowed to speak. I was constantly being interrupted. Needless to say I’m so so unsatisfied and I wish it hadn’t ended that way.
We visited this restaurant today for lunch as a party of five, including a 7-year-old and a 12-year-old, both excited to have Thai food. Unfortunately, our experience with the service was far from pleasant. From the beginning, the lady owner was somewhat rude, especially when our 7-year-old ordered noodle soup alongside another soup. She made faces, but I politely asked her to give him what he wanted to try. Later, she snapped at us for keeping the water glasses near us, out of her reach. The final straw came when we took some time to decide on dessert, specifically the banana wrap. She snapped at us again, prompting us to ask for the check so we could leave. Frustrated, I wrote, "Please take a customer service 101 class at Vassar College." This led to her yelling at me and throwing the bill onto the counter as we left. It's a shame how she treated us, especially since we are both Asians. This upset our kids so much that the 12-year-old wrote a review about her bad experience on TripAdvisor. While we enjoyed the food, her attitude left a bad taste in our mouths, and we will never go back.
We ordered red curry with chicken and green curry with beef. Let me tell you... the curry was watery and lacked flavor. The devil himself could never make food this foul. The chicken looked bland. Veggies were soggy and tasted old. I tried to feed this to my pet pig, and she refused (just kidding but seriously). The diabolical thing is- this is the third time we gave Thai Spice a chance. The first time, the food was just as disgusting. The second time we went in person and the food was great. Perhaps, when you order food online, they water down the ingredients, but if you dine-in, they cook it well..idk. This third time, the food is absolutely disgusting. Red curry is supposed to be RED, not pink. I will not be returning a fourth time and certainly will not recommend this place to anyone.
Been going to this restaurant since 2015 but with the new management this place is the WORST when it comes to service. The staff are so rude. They act like they’re jail guards. The service sucks! It ruined the nice ambience! The food has gone to the dumps also. I was so embarrassed to my guest I took there. if I can only put negative star, I would! I asked to talk to a manager and they said we don’t have one! If they don’t want to serve people they better go to a different kind of business. Thai Spice you suck!
This place is different in many ways. The employee looks unhappy, and she doesn't treat customers in the way that she is supposed to. She made us feel that we were begging for food, not paying for it. In a moment, she was on the phone watching something like a cartoon, it was out loud. Also, the TV was very loud with political news that is not a good combination to eat. The food was ok, I noticed that the restaurant was almost empty (2 tables with customers only), but they had a lot of to-go orders, which made sense after I had this weird welcoming. Is sad to experience this in a place that is supposed to make you have a good experience.
The lady on the phone was really rude. They were also rude when I came in the get my to go order. So even if the food was amazing, they already don’t get 5 stars. This is AWFUL Thai food. My curry was pretty much soup and lacked any flavor. I was in town for work, so I am not lying when I say I’ll never come back. However, even if I lived here, it’d be a hard pass.
